When I try to drag a file in from Windows Explorer to the browser, it just shows a "not allowed" symbol
It works in Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera, but not Edge, what am I doing wrong?

When you click on a Favorite in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 (1607), IE only opens a blank page.
We could narrow that problem down - it apparently only occurs if Favorites are redirected to a file share and Enhanced Protected Mode ist enabled.
It works fine in IE11 on Windows 7 though using the same configuration (redirected Favorites + Enhanced Protected Mode).
Trying to download KB3081444. Only options offered are microsoft.com/downloads, which doesn't have it, and the Microsoft Update Catalog site.
I went there with Edge (I'm running Win 10) but it told me to use IE. Once at the page, I keep getting told that "this web site wants to add the following add-on: "Microsoft Update Catalog" from "Microsoft Corporation." (Are there quotes because IE doesn't believe it's really Microsoft? Or is it just being sarcastic? Hard to tell sometimes. :-) )
Anyway, I always click "Install," but nothing happens. F12 offers no help. Any idea how a fully updated, licensed copy of Windows 10 Enterprise running the latest version of Internet Explorer (with no fancy security settings cranked up) can't load an ActiveX control from Microsoft Corporation while trying to download updates from Microsoft's Update Catalog?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Good afternoon,
I use exchange online a lot (OWA) and a few days ago Internet Explorer started defaulting to OneDrive Documents Folder instead of my local Documents folder. It was running fine before that. Not sure what changed. I have since changed settings in OneDrive to save locally instead of on OneDrive and even disabled OneDrive completely. However, every time I try to add an attachment from Internet Explorer, it defaults to my OneDrive folder and not my local folder. Anyone know of a fix? Yes, I know I could just use a different folder and copy from my Documents folder to the new folder, but there's obviously an issue that I would like to fix. Thank you all for your help.
I developed a software which has signed by a certificate, but I don not know the SmartScreen Reputation. How can I got it?

When the user clicks on a Excel file, the file open in the browser and when the user click on "open in Excel" we receive the below message
"To open this workbook, your computer must have a version of Microsoft Excel installed and your Web browser must support opening files directly from Excel in the browser."
Below is the browser version
However when the same is tried/accessed through a browser deployed on a dev machine, it works normally. Below is the version of the IE on the DEV server
What is causing this to happen?
Is there any tool to check the difference between the IE settings on my Desktop and the dev box.
Satyam....

Web shortcuts don't open from Desktop since Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
With Internet Explorer ‘Enhanced Protected Mode’ switched on, when a shortcut to a webpage is opened from the Desktop, the shortcut doesn’t open. Internet Explorer just shows a blank window.
With Internet Explorer ‘Enhanced Protected Mode’ switched back off, the shortcuts open as expected.
Was OK before Anniversary Update, so something in the update breaks compatibility with Internet Explorer ‘Enhanced Protected Mode’.

I am a desktop support tech. I have been working on a way to create either a powershell or batch file to copy a user's Favorites and Cookies to a network share. This way when preparing a new computer for the user, I can use a script to copy it back down for them.
However, I think because the %userprofile%\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies folder by default is hidden and it doesnt find it.
Is there anyway to use a command to copy the hidden folder so the script can copy IE Cookies for a user and then copy it down on the new computer?
In our environment, we are 99% Windows 7, 0.9% Windows 8.1, and 0.1% Windows 10 (we are just beginning to test it). I'm aware that Microsoft introduced "schema v.2" for the Internet Explorer 11 Enterprise Mode Site List XML file (hereafter:"EMSL file") for Windows 10 so that you can also control whether or not a URL opens in Edge or IE11.
In our environment, how I attempted to handle this was by creating two different EMSL files: one is schema v.1 for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 clients and the other is schema v.2 for Windows 10 clients. Then, I created two WMI filters: "Windows 10" and "Not Windows 10". I then created two different GPOs. One of them used the "Not Windows 10" WMI filter and pointed clients to the schema v.1 EMSL file and the other used the "Windows 10" WMI filter and pointed clients to the schema v.2 EMSL file.
Well, I was just working on an issue, and I noticed in doing a GPResult that the aforementioned GPO for Windows 7 and 8.1 clients was being applied to my Windows 10 computer, not the correct Windows 10 one. When I looked, it appeared that WMI filtering was not being taken into account. I don't use WMI filtering very much, so this is the first I'm learning that WMI filters only apply to computer policies and not user policies.
Given the requirements (different EMSL setting for users on different operating systems), how can I solve this issue in group policy? If possible, I'd like to avoid creating a security group or organizational unit that contains people using Windows 10 computers. Some people might have more than one computer, and one might be Windows 7 and one might be Windows 10.

Hello,
For every new user on Windows 2012 R2 remote desktop server the Internet Explorer shortcut icon in Start Menu opens Microsoft Edge browser.
I unpin it from Start Menu, search for "iexplore" and pin in to Start Menu and Taskbar. The icon on the Taskbar opens Internet Explorer, but the icon in Start Menu opens Edge again.
There are no group policies applied to the server.
How do I fix this?
Thanks for your help.
