hello, I'm trying to get my explorer 10 to always open a link in a new tab without the use of "right click, open link in new tab"

 on the mouse pad.

When opening a PDF in IE 10 with Enhanced Protection Mode it displays "This website wants to run acropdf.dll"

I am running my application which requires JRE on Internet Explorer 10. Since the IE need to run in 64 bit mode, we have enabled the "Enhanced Protection Mode" in Security option of Internet Options in Advanced tab. But my application also opens up PDF in the browser, when the page with PDF is invoked it displays "The webpage wants to run 'AcroPDF.dll'. If you trust this site, you can disable Enhanced Protection Mode for this site to run the control.(Disable)(Always Ignore)".  And on clicking any option the PDF is not displayed.

We would not be able to disable the  Enhanced Protection Mode as the 64 Bit JRE would not be invoked for other part of the application.

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

IE10 and proxy settings

$

We are deploying IE10 to replace IE8. We found a problem on how IE10 manages Proxy settings which seems different from IE8.

We have a PAC file that tells IE whether to use a proxy server or not. Up to IE8 our settings have been with "Automatically detect settings" off, "Use Automatic script configuration" on with the URL of the server delivering the PAC file, and then the manual proxy settings set as we need them in case the PAC file can't be delivered.

As I said this works perfectly with all IEs up to IE8. Users when on the corporate network get one version of the PAC file and they can access the internet using our proxy. When at home and on the internet they get another version of the PAC file (which says go direct for all sites) and everything is fine.

With IE10 things started to go wrong. After a lot of investigation I found that (at least on Windows 7) if I keep the manual proxy settings, the PAC file gets ignored. The PAC file works only if I take the manual proxy configuration off completely. Has the priority of the settings changed at all with IE10?

With Windows 8 things are different again. Even without the manual proxy settings the PAC file doesn't get applied.

I was going to experiment with WPAD to see if that makes any difference and it is going to take some time but I just wanted to see if anybody here has any clues of what is going on in IE10 with the proxy settings.

General failure. The URL was: "URL" Class not registered

After installing Internet Explorer 10 a lot of users are reporting General failure. The URL was: "URL" Class not registered problem. I have tried all the solutions from the internet and nothing helps so far. When I reset the internet explorer settings, links start working in Outlook but when the computer is restarted and GPO applied the problem comes back... I need to pin point what's causing it, which policy setting if it is really related to GPO? any feedback greatly appreciated

IE9 ADMX File Size

Hi All

A quick one I hope.  I've just gone to update the inetres.admx file in our central GPO store on SYSVOL and found that the old one is significantly larger than the one I've obtained from a machine with IE9 on it.

Is this normal?  What has changed?

Thanks.

Sometimes HTML buttons are not rendered in IE9

Hi,

I am facing one unusual issue in IE9.

Issue: We have migrated our application from IE7/XP to IE9/Win7. When some of our production users load a web page, sometimes HTML button which has keyboard focus is not rendered on the web page. This behavior is very inconsistent.

My Observation: To show the keyboard focus on web page, we have applied CSS filter on button: style="filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Glow(color=#1E90FF, strength=1);"

When I verify HTML code of rendered page through fiddler tool, i could see HTML button code is present but its not rendered due to some unknown reason. When user do mouse over to the space where buttons should be placed, he could see the clickable icon and I could perform the action.

Note: We are using document mode as 'IE8 emulate' to make it compatible with other integrated third party application.

Can anybody tell why this behavior happening in IE9?

SBS 2011 & Windows 8.1 & IE 11

Hello,

this seems to be a bug with IE 11 (Windows 8.1). It is not possible to connect to the Remote Web Access Website:

- first you are not able to change the language IE sets default english
- after you log in with your credentials you get a 404, some wrong redirects.

It is allways redirecting to "https://remote.domain.tld/~/logon?ReturnUrl=%2fremote%3f". If you try after sucessfull logon to manually enter the correct URL "https://remote.domain.tld/remote/" you alos get redirected to the above URL wich results in a 404.

Firefox and Chrome doing it right.

Any help is welcome, even better is if MS gets this fixed ;-)

Cheers
Yves

IE10 favorites per GPO

Hello,

we have an Server 2008R2 DC and Windows 8 Enterprise clients.

I need to distribute favorites for IE10 and the IE maintenance GPO doesn't exist anymore with IE10...

I've tried to install a IEAK10 configuration package via GPO, but the msi package doesn't work really well. (already without using group policy)

How can i distribute and manage favorites for IE10 on Windows 8 Clients (best practice)?

Thanks
David

Configure IE10 - Which Settings by IEAK and which by GPO?

Hi everybody,

I want to re-design our GPOs and IEAK configuration for the IE 10.

I wonder which settings I need to set by IEAK and which by GPO, because there are some which you can set by both ways (which is not recommended). In a Technet article it says:

"Because Group Policy Preferences and IEAK 10 use asynchronous processes when they run, we recommend that you choose to use only one of the tools within each group of settings, for example using only IEAK 10 within theSecurity settings or Group Policy Preferences within the Internet Zone settings. In addition, it's important to remember that policy is enforced and can't be changed by the user, while preferences are configured, but can be changed by the user."

Is there a recommended way how to split the settings?

I keep getting "Internet Explorer has stopped working..."

REPEATEDLY GET MSG  -  "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.”

Patch for the lastest zero day vulnerability

Hi

Microsoft has released a patch for the latest zero day vulnerability. In the pagehttps://support.microsoft.com/kb/2887505 it is written:

"You must have security update 2870699 installed for this Fix it to provide effective protection against this issue."

Question: What happens if this path is installed and 2870699 has not been installed yet?

a: Will not provide effective protection against this issue before 2870699 has been installed - but work fine when it has been installed?

or

b: Will never provide effective protection against this issue if 2870699 is installed after the fix in 2887505.

Thanks in advance

Best regards Harald

Internet Explorer 11 Preview: ActiveX not loading

The following is intended as a test to see if the browser supports Active-X w/o

actually loading an Active-X control in the page. This works on all other

versions of IE, but on IE11, typeof window.ActiveXObject returns

undefined. Any ideas if how to test for Active-X support in IE11?

Also I have a snippet of javascript code that runs fine in IE8 - IE10, but

doesn't work in IE11.

  if (typeof (window.ActiveXObject) == "undefined")

    {

      ActivexPassed = false;

      logInfo("Active-X NOT supported");

    }

  else

    {

    if (typeof window.external.msActiveXFilteringEnabled != "undefined" &&

window.external.msActiveXFilteringEnabled() == true)

      {

        ActivexPassed = false;

        logInfo("Active-X NOT supported (Filtered)");

      }

    else

      {

        ActivexPassed = true;

        logInfo("Active-X IS supported");

      }
