Hi,

I have a VBScript where I used InternetExploere.Application Object.

CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")

After that, I am navigation to one login page and filling userID and Password and submitting the form.

I can able to login successfully. From that page, I have to take one Value, base on that I am generating a URL for download a file.

I can able to generate the URL and navitage to that path. Then Internet Explorer poping up Do you want to save or open the file.

Its not downloading automatically. I am using send keys and all. Sometime working fine but sometimes not working.

I wanted to change the internet explorer options to automatically download somehow. So that i will not face this problem again and again.

Please help me how I can change the internet explorer options to turn automatic download on.

I am using Internet Explorer 11 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

Certificate issue using Netbios/FQDN against Subject/SAN certificate

Hi,

Really confusing one here. Since this weekend (16/17 July) we have started getting Certificate errors on some sites and applications. This seems to be due to the structure of the URL compared to the "advertised" name IIS is presenting. I'll try to explain.

I have a site, Website. This is in my domain, domain.com. Therefore the FQDN is website.domain.com. IIS is running and I can access this site through FQDN,NetBIOS or IP address. Good news.

I create a certificate for the server using the FQDN as the subject, I add the Netbios and IP addresses in the Subject Alternate Names and Bind this to port 443 on the server.

I browse to https://website and all is good. I browse to https://website.domain.com I get a certificate error. Checking the certificate, everything is fine, no errors, chain is trusted. open Chrome and do the same, I get that the certificate website.domain.com is being presented by Website and may not be the site I want.

Using either URL has never been a problem until this weekend, but it seems that IE/Windows/IIS is not liking any URL that is not EXACTLY what IIS is presenting. so my questions are:-

Is anyone else finding this?

Can we issue a certificate that covers all possible DNS resolutions for a site?

How do I control WHAT IIS advertises itself as?

SO far this has affected two major systems on our network and I can see that more will arise, so any help would be appreciated.

Windows security dialog box for secure sites is empty - no user name and password fields are visible

I am a helpdesk tech for a large company and we having an issue with IE 8+ on win7 32bit.

Anytime a user goes to a secure site that requires authentication, the windows security dialog box pops up waiting for credentials, but it is impossible to enter them because the user name and password fields are not showing in the box.

Resetting IE has no effect.  Changing security levels  for different zones also has no effect.  We have added multiple sites to our trusted lists and still no results.  These site all perform normally in Firefox and Chrome but those browsers are not an option for our users.

This problem is also present in IE 9 beta.
I have even tried to completely remove IE and reinstall it but still get no results.

I have seen 2 other threads about this issue, neither of them have resolutions.  One on technet has some detailed info on the exact same issue, but has no answer and was started last year.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itprovistaie/thread/4d1714cd-8e8b-483d-a3de-383c3ef9e86b

The other is on this forum, also with no answer.

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/45d4db20-61d5-49a7-88ee-14d35309138b

here is a screen shot of the problem in action.

Please keep in mind that this is just one example and that the problem occurs when visiting ANY site with authentication.

 We have tried to reset the security zones to defaults but that does no good.

I will be happy to provide any further info that is needed.

Thanks for your help!

I access Ancestry.com a lot and there site works best with IE, but my Yahoo Email does not and requires me to keep entering my password and keeps asking to stay on the site, this odes not happen with Chrome.

So I set Chrome as my default browser.

Then tried to edit the Target field in a shortcut for IE 11 and find that it is not editable, this used to work in IE 9, is there a different way to do the same thing as below except in IE 11.

Thanks

Shortcut to Open a URL with IE When Firefox is Default
1.Click Start
2.Click Programs
3.Click-and-drag Internet Explorer to your desktop
4.Right-click the new shortcut and select Properties
5.On the Shortcut tab, click the Target field and move the cursor to the end of all the text (Target field is gray out in IE 11)
6.Enter a single space and then enter your URL URL_IE

7.Click Apply
8.Click the General tab
9.In the text field at the top, give your shortcut an appropriate name
10.Click OK

In IE-8 there was no adress url displayed in pop-up window.

Thanks and kind regards,

IE11 display "disconnects" from window even though process seems to be operating

I'm using IE11 on an HP ZBook 15 G2 which has built-in Intel HD 4600 and NVidia quadro k2100m graphics. The OS is windows 7 enterprise 64 bit. I've tried configuring ie11 to run using the intel and the NVidia graphics, but it didn't make any difference. I've also tried numerous versions of intel and NVidia driver versions and there was no difference. There has been a full OS reinstallation along the way and that didn't make any difference either, so I'm assuming this is a problem with IE11.

The problem is that the display area within the window freezes, eve though the IE11 process seems to be operating. I assume that because if I refresh the tab, I can see the address bar update. I can also see the task manager thumbnail update. Occasionally, if I suspend and resume the computer, the problem goes away, but usually, I just kill all of the IE11 processes and reopen them. This is very annoying and I'm wondering if there is a fix.

Packaging IE11 prerequisite updates with IEAK

I would like to deploy IE11 using IEAK. I'm trying to package the IE11 prerequisite updates into the exe\msi it outputs but the installer is still trying to go out to the Internet to grab them from Microsoft updates. I want to avoid this. I am adding the updates via the Custom Components phase in the IEAK Wizard but I am not sure if this even works or if I am even using the correct command. I know the cabs are being inserted into the package because the size of the IE11-Setup-Full.exe\msi grows proportionality with the included cab files.

The expand command keeps getting truncated when I return to the Wizard no matter what I put so I am guessing its incorrect. IEAK documentation is lacking in this area.

Always ask before opening this type of file - IE11

Hi,

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with Internet Explorer and they way it handles opening file from the Internet. Sometimes it gives a prompt like this:

Which is great, I want to turn this on for all common document types (e.g. PDF, Word Docs, Zips). What I've found is you have to either untick the option 'Always ask before opening this type of file', or delete a registry key in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute

When I check my PC I find I don't have that option and the registry keys aren't present.

Could someone clarify this for me? I'm running IE11 and Windows 7.

Thanks

Dave

Why is WPAD not caching?

$

Hi,

We use a WPAD file hosted on a Websense appliance and use IE11 on Windows 7 x64.

We are seeing some performance issues with the Websense delivery of WPAD and have discovered that every computer is making a large amount of calls to the websense appliance to retrieve WPAD.dat. (Up to 1000 per machine in some cases)

We have worked with Websense and found that they were returning a 'no-cache' option in the WPAD response header. Via a patch we have had this removed.

However I still can't find a cached WPAD file on my machine that I am using for testing and have checked all the registry entries I can think of related to caching.

Does anyone have any ideas?

For reference, the WPAD.dat is (edited of course):

//

// Start of Script

function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
{

// Convert everything to lower case
var lhost = host.toLowerCase();
host = lhost;

//Local Networking Match
if (isPlainHostName(host) ||
shExpMatch(host, "localhost.*") ||
shExpMatch(host, "*.ourdomain.net") ||
shExpMatch(host, "*.local") ||
isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "127.0.0.0", "255.0.0.0") ||
isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "10.0.0.0", "255.0.0.0") ||
isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "172.16.0.0", "255.240.0.0") ||
isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "192.168.0.0", "255.255.0.0"))
return "DIRECT";

//Host Matching
if (dnsDomainIs(host, "*.partnerdomain1.com") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, "*.partnerdomain2.com") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, "*.ourdomain.net") ||)
return "DIRECT";

//Expression Matching
//if (shExpMatch(url, "*ourintranet.net"))
//return "DIRECT";

// Default - Use Proxy
return "PROXY proxy.ourdomain.net:8080";

}
// End of function

We use DNS to point proxy.ourdomain.net to the Websense appliance.

Any suggestions / ideas welcomed.

IE 11 Document Modes support lifetime

Given that document modes have been deprecated as of IE 11, is there any risk that later updates to IE 11 would make the document modes obsolete? In other words, will IE 11 continue to support document mode and the selection of the appropriate mode via the x-ua-compatible header for the life of IE11?

IE 11 is reporting an incorrect user agent string (after June 2016 patches) causing websites to display incorrectly

$

IE 11 (with the latest June 2016 patches) on Windows 7, Windows 10, and the latest Windows 10 Insider Build (14385) reports that it is IE 7, thus causing many websites to display incorrectly.

As evidence, using the site, http://useragentstring.com/, IE 11 is sending the following string:  "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; Trident/7.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.3)".   This suggests that IE11 is telling websites that it is Internet Explorer 7.0.

I reported this on July 1st (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-networking/when-using-ie-11420105860-google-calendar-says/df201160-6c34-4899-91b7-11f188e4b7a2?auth=1) and it doesn't appear to have been taken seriously!

Our IT folks are asking us to abandon IE and switch to Chrome.  Please

  • Make a hotfix available prior to the next Patch Tuesday;
  • Make sure this is fixed before the Windows 10 Anniversary Build is completed this month;
  • Make sure that a fix is included in the July Patch Tuesday.

PLEASE TAKE THIS BUG REPORT SERIOUSLY!

Can't get into Microsoft Update Catalog with IE 11 on Windows 10

Trying to download KB3081444.  Only options offered are microsoft.com/downloads, which doesn't have it, and the Microsoft Update Catalog site.

I went there with Edge (I'm running Win 10) but it told me to use IE.  Once at the page, I keep getting told that "this web site wants to add the following add-on: "Microsoft Update Catalog" from "Microsoft Corporation."  (Are there quotes because IE doesn't believe it's really Microsoft?  Or is it just being sarcastic?  Hard to tell sometimes. :-) )

Anyway, I always click "Install," but nothing happens.  F12 offers no help.  Any idea how a fully updated, licensed copy of Windows 10 Enterprise running the latest version of Internet Explorer (with no fancy security settings cranked up) can't load an ActiveX control from Microsoft Corporation while trying to download updates from Microsoft's Update Catalog?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Mark

I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key to log in on a new computer.  When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...

This page can't be displayed

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again.  If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO.  Restarting IE and rebooting did not help.  Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.

Edit: This is IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
