Sites in Enterprise Mode List are not loaded

$

Hello,

lately a lot of our Windows 7 machines are having sporadic problems with the Enterprise Mode.

When the problem occurs, all websites listed in the Enterprise Mode Site List are not working anymore, the loading of the page just stops on a white page with no error message:

- pages not in the site list work fine (websites accessed trough proxy as well as intranet sites)
- the problem is limited to the current user account, reboot/logoff/run IE as another account resolves the problem
- resetting IE settings and following gpupdate solves the problem
- clearing browser history/temp etc. has no effect

IE version is 11.0.9600.18204 - 11.0.28.

Is anyone experiencing the same issues or has any suggestions how to figure out whats the cause?

Best regards,

Stefan

Some users on our network are receiving the following error when visiting website https://www.evisy.com.au/Admin/Login.aspx

This page can't be displayed

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 in advanced settings and try...

When the user refreshes the same page it then works.

I have also tried from my workstation and I dont get the error also chrome does not get the error.

I have tried turning off IE in Windows Features and turning back on again

Deleting browsing history.

It appears IE fails on the first attempt to access the site but manages to work on the second?

Wondering if there is a quick way to backup the whitelist within internet explorer options proxy settings

Everyone,

I am looking to deploy a mass amount of kiosk and decided to create a proxy pointed at 127.0.0.1 and setup a whitelist to limit connectivity to websites. The problem is that everytime I need to modify the whitelist I have to reverse all my safety's and then reactivate. Is there a way to access another users ie settings from an admin account or does anyone know where ie stores this list to make it easier to modify.

Thanks,

IE 11 with activated "enhanced protected mode" does not open any internet page after update to Win10

Hello!

The subjectsays it all.We have all thePCsin a domain. ViaGPO is "Enhanced Protected Mode"aktivated.

Under Win8.1.everything worksperfectly.

UpdateonWin10:domain user(withroamingprofiles -butshould not matter...) are not able to open any page in IE zone "internet. If I type the URL manually and press ENTER, nothing happens. When I click on a link tp any external page on our intranet page, twonew tabsopenwiththeURL"res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#,about: blank"

IntranetandTrustedSites (alsoviaGPOdefined) works fine (because protected mode is disabled for them by default).

By trial and errorI foundout that it isthe"EPM" that causes the problem. If I switch it off, IE works again.

But why does it workunderWin8.1andno longer underWin10?

(BTW, when I try to start IE like this "iexplore -extoff", it opens with an empty window, stays for about ten seconds and then closes again. No error message, nothing ...)

Can anyone confirmthis behavior?

Michael

File upload not working

Since may 12th file upload to our webapplication is not working on several clients. Form-tag Enctype='mulitpart/formdata' makes the page freeze and wait for time out. If we select a .txt file than it works ok but if we select pdf it stalls on a selection of clients.

On a group of over 2500 client 10 to 20% has this problem. The last updates are installed on the webservers.

Can anyone explain this?

Why end user entry to compatibility view is getting over-written, IE 11.

Hello,

I have used GPO preference - registry method to add an internal site to compatibility view.

but it has over-written all the end users compatibility view list, infact if I add a new site manually,  it is also getting overwritten in some time.

Please suggest.

IE11: Unable to enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2

I have recently been testing Windows in FIPS-compliance mode for compliance with a common security policy mandated by a state government agency.  This included my assigned laptop, which is running Windows 8.1 Update Enterprise x64.

As part of the test, I enabled the "System cryptography: Use FIPS 140 compliant cryptographic algorithms, including encryption, hashing and signing algorithms" both in local security policy on my machine and later via a test GPO.  Since that test has completed, I have deleted the GPO and disabled the setting in local security policy.  I've also rebooted several times to verify the setting is truly disabled and also tried creating a GPO that forces that setting to disabled.

What I am seeing is, since performing these tests, I can no longer enable TLS 1.1 or 1.2 on IE11.  They were previously enabled.  The settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 are all grayed out.  SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, and TLS 1.0 are checked (and cannot be unchecked) and TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are unchecked (and cannot be checked).

Suspecting group policy, I put my user account and computer account in an OU that has group policy inheritance blocked and made a GPO that only forces SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 on for my user account and applied it to my test GPO.  The particular setting is Policies | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Internet Explorer | Internet Control Panel | Advanced Page | Turn off encryption support | Use SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2.  I ran gpupdate /force, rebooted, checked local security policy to confirm that my laptop is not in FIPS mode, then checked the IE11 advanced options and there was no change.

How can I get TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 back?

Internet Explorer SSL/TLS settings disabled

Recently, we ran a pilot where FIPS-compliance mode was enabled on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32-bit computers.  Specifically, the "System cryptography: Use FIPS-compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" security option was set to Enabled.  The pilot is over and we turned off FIPS-compliance mode.

Since doing that, I have noticed that the SSL/TLS settings in Internet Explorer 9 are disabled on computers that were part of the pilot.  I know the defaults are:

  • SSL 2.0 : off
  • SSL 3.0 : on
  • TLS 1.0 : on
  • TLS 1.1 : off
  • TLS 1.2 : off

Now, all of these settings are disabled (grayed out) and the following settings are set:

  • SSL 2.0 : on
  • SSL 3.0 : on
  • TLS 1.0 : on
  • TLS 1.1 : off
  • TLS 1.2 : off

This affects all user accounts on the system.

The test GPO we used to turn on FIPS mode for these computers has been verified to only be enforcing that FIPS setting.  It was not controlling any Internet Explorer settings.

Here is the troubleshooting I have done so far:

  • Reset Internet Explorer via the Reset button on the Advanced tab in Internet Options.
  • Put computer in an OU that had Group Policy inheritance blocked, performed gpupdate, and rebooted to ensure no GPOs were affecting the computer.
  • Verified that local policy was not enforcing the Internet Explorer SSL/TLS settings.
  • Ran msconfig, disabled non-Microsoft services, and rebooted.
  • Removed the Internet Explorer feature, rebooted, re-added it, and rebooted.
  • Installed all available important and recommended Windows Updates.
  • Installed Internet Explorer 11.
  • Created a new local account and set it to Administrator and logged in as that.
  • Removed the computer from the domain.
  • Created another local account (with Administrator rights) and logged in as that while the computer was not on a domain.
  • Ran the command from an elevated command prompt:  secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
  • As a last-ditch effort, I ran CCLeaner and performed all the Clean and Registry fixes available.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

IE 11 JS Access denied ! Relentless error...

Hello to you,

guys please tell what the hell is going on with this IE 11 error. There are many sites that I cannot use because of this. Looks like IE 11 security takes over. I tried almost everything , tried to enable cross domain, add to secure websites, enable scripting - NOTHING WORKS. The same sites have no problems in FF and Chrome or Edge. Here is an example , when I try to play this in full screen or click on it - just black screen.

https://www.facebook.com/Gdynia/photos/a.161367470548929.37611.158404567511886/1255027674516231/?type=3&theater

The same goes with some forum windows, buttons. On click - there is no reaction at all. I know this is sth. connected to inbuilt security issue but I tried so many things.

So looking forward to hearing from you,

thanks and Regards.

Microsoft is giving FALSE information to my customers.  It is slander.  Your smart screen filter is unacceptable.  We have documented evidence that our website is safe.  Liquidweb has compiled detailed logs to support this.

We did request that your message be removed immediately through your support chat system.  Our attorney was present at this time.

Claiming that our website steals information from website visitors is a very serious accusation and we are handling it as such.  Since we have evidence that clearly shows that your accusations are false and the fact that we did not receive any documentation or evidence showing Microsoft had cause to display this message we are moving forward with the case.

We requested Microsoft's evidence and documentation be sent to us within 24 hrs.

Running security scan takes 20-30 seconds

Hi,

I am having issues with people having the "Running security scan" running for around 20-30 seconds on downloads via Internet Explorer 11. While I totally understand the need for it, I am presuming that it can't be switched off ? (despite people saying to untick "Enable SmartScreen Filter").

The trouble is that this is now becoming an issue for people downloading documents internally from SharePoint servers and SQL Reporting servers - how can I adjust the behaviour of this scan ?

Or are there any updates that have known to cause issues with this (I've checked out the KB3076895 one) ? How does the malware/phishing component of SmartScreen Filter get it's updates or is it an external call to a web site hosted elsewhere ?

Our environment is Windows 7 (tested on Windows 10 and the same thing happens), Office 2010 / Office 2013 (happens in both) and IE11. Any pointers to resolve this issue gratefully received !

Many thanks.

Brian.

Browser Out of Date

I have IE11 on Windows 8.1.  Why do I keep being told that my browser is out of date?

Microsoft Edge slow to load webpages.

I have tried this on several computers.

Computer 1 - Windows Server 2008 R2 in a Hyper-V environment running Internet Explorer 8.  The webpages load fast and internet works really well.

Computer 2 - Windows Server 2012 R2 running Internet Explorer 11.  The webpages load ok, little bit slower than the Internet Explorer 8 environment but still manageable.

Computer 3 - Windows 10 running Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11.  The webpages take a lot of time to load on the Windows 10 machine with Microsoft Edge.  I have Norton Anti Virus software running on this machine and have ran a full scan of the system to make sure there is no viruses on the computer.  The scan comes out clean.

Computer 3- Sites like, google.com, cnn.com, news.yahoo.com load fine.  The sites that it has trouble with usually say that a long running script is causing the problem.  Sites like, topix.com and quote.yahoo.com.  Is the problem with Microsoft Edge or the website or badly written webpages?

SHA1 Deprecation - How will this work?

$

Hi,

Just got some questions on how this will roll out to all users:

From January 1 2017, or when SHA1 certificates will no long be supported:

1. Will there be an IE upgrade applied to prevent acceptance of SHA1 certificates?

2. Will there a workaround to continue to an insecure website with SHA1? Or will the browser just not enter the site at all?

3. Is there a sample snapshot that would show what is expected when a user attempted access to SHA1 certificate holding site after January 1 2017?

Regards,

Nat

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://ninite.com again. If this error persists, it is possible that this site uses an unsupported protocol. Please contact the site administrator

Hi, I’m new to TechNet so sorry if ive followed procedure!

I’ve just setup 15 Windows 10 PC's in a new ICT at a Primary School. I’m trying to roll out software via ninite.com to save time but I’m getting the above error. Like others if install a different web browser like Chrome its fine. I’ve tried resetting IE 11 back to default and I’ve played around with the TSL and SSL settings under advanced till I’m blue in the face. I run light speed Rocket as my web-filter and I have no issues on any other OS or devices within school that i am aware of.  Issue Must be with IE and how it sees specific sites.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Apologies if this has been answered previously

Mick
