IE changing file extensions on download to "_" instead of "."
Hi all! Every so often I get a user (and it is usually the same users) that call with an issue that they cannot download files. Doesn't matter what type of file. But when they click download they will get a pop up that the system doesn't recognize the file and the file name is changed to whatever_exe instead of whatever.exe.
Same thing happens with our auto launch java program. All of the sudden IE will change the file extension to _jnlp and is then unreadable. This is not a system wide problem, it is profile specific.
The only fix that I have found is to do a reset of IE from the advanced page (IE options, advanced, reset, then restart machine)
It is great that I finally found a "fix" for it, but I would love to know what the user is doing to cause this to happen! They have no clue. Any ideas what causes this???

we have server2012r2, with the latest updates, we had gpo problems, so i removed kb3159398, but also we experience since a few days, maybe 2 weeks problems with internet explorer 11, it crashes very often.
which update causes this? (kb3160005 perhaps?)

Cannot desinstall internet explorer
I have strange problem with internet explorer 11 under windows 10. I would like to deinstall and reinstall it but it doesn note appear in my program list in the deinstall section ???? Any idea.

Internet Explorer 11 - did not finish installing.
Hi all Microsoft expert,
I am upgrading Internet Explorer to version 11 for approximately 200 computers.
There are approximately 10 computer unable to be upgraded Internet Explorer 11.
The error message is "Internet Explorer did not finish installing."
It happen on Windows 7 64 bit.
Need advise from expert what can be done to solve this problem.

EDGE browser freezes when ads play in the web site
Is there a setting in Internet explorer that I can enable (or disable) to allow me to browse thru internet pages without I E 11 freezing? Example is Yahoo Mail. Every time I go to Yahoo mail, when advertisement start in the right pane, the screen freezes for 25 to 30 seconds. Same with almost every Online newspapers. Visit the same pages with google Chrome, and no such freezing.

My Initial problem I had with Office365 was that I didn't have the option to pin apps. If I reset IE it works ok, if I restart the PC it stops working again. Pin apps works if I use inprivate browsing. I have disabled all add-ons and that made no difference.
I have tried with a different user and all works ok for that user, including edge.
If I delete my local profile, it creates a new one for me when I log on and all is fine for a few days until Edge stops working again and all the faults come back.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi,
I am unable to reinstall IE11 on my Windows 7x64 professional computer. It has SP1 installed but each time I run the installation file, it asks for reboot. After reboot, IE stays in IE10. Attached is the log file which states below error. Any recommendation to resolve it?

I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key to log in on a new computer. When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again. If this error persists, contact your site administrator.
Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO. Restarting IE and rebooting did not help. Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.

IE 11 tab Issue
I my application, when click on link it opens a url using navigateToURl("someurl", somefixedCustomname). In IE8 and 9 its opens either in new window or tab(depends on tab settings), when click the link again for two or three times its reloads the page in same window or tab, which is as expected(according to call made above), but in IE 11 , on first click its opens a new window or tab(depends of tab settings), on second click its opens another new window or tab(which is not expected), and on third click onwards it reloads the second window or tab. how to control this behaviour, I want only one window or tab to be opened for the same, it should reload the content on the same window or tab on every other click. Kindly respond . I am stuck with this issue and couldn't find a solution.

Why is WPAD not caching?

We use a WPAD file hosted on a Websense appliance and use IE11 on Windows 7 x64.
We are seeing some performance issues with the Websense delivery of WPAD and have discovered that every computer is making a large amount of calls to the websense appliance to retrieve WPAD.dat. (Up to 1000 per machine in some cases)
We have worked with Websense and found that they were returning a 'no-cache' option in the WPAD response header. Via a patch we have had this removed.
However I still can't find a cached WPAD file on my machine that I am using for testing and have checked all the registry entries I can think of related to caching.
Does anyone have any ideas?

IE11 resets local intranet registry keys on launch
We have deployed IE11 via IEAK and have a proxy set which currently set to return direct for all sites. This means IE is seeing all external sites in the intranet zone due to the setting 'include all sites that bypass the proxy server' being enabled. If I manually untick this then everything works as all external sites are in the internet zone and the setting is permanent.
However, I need to deploy this setting site wide and the group policy "Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page - Intranet Sites: Include all sites that bypass the proxy server" (both computer and user) set to disable only greys out the box unticked but does not actually move external sites into the internet zone.
I've tried using GPP to delete the registry key HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Proxybypass which does work but as soon as I re-launch IE the setting is written back with the value 1 and it is back in the wrong state again.
Using process monitor I can see it is iexplore.exe that sets this key back to 1 on launch and when I manually untick the box all it does it delete the Proxybypass key and nothing else. Has anyone seen this before and managed to work around it? MS16-063 and Enterprise Mode issue
Hi Everybody,
MS16-063 introduced Enterprise Mode XML schema v.2 support while maintaining support for v.1.
After the patch installs, computer reboots, it needs to connect to the site list once in order to re-parse it or the sites won't load in Enterprise Mode.
Vast majority of users are virtual. When a patch is installed, our users log back in with a cached account.
Our VPN, Cisco AnyConnect, requires going to a website in order to connect. The website in IE 11 must be rendered in Enterprise Mode or it will not work.
As you can see we have an issue here with our virtual users who are 12K+ and cannot come to an office.
Does anyone have any suggestions besides using a different browser?

IE11 crashes when trying to open PDF's in the browser after patch KB3160005 installed
We have a mission critical program that now crashes because of the patch KB3160005 that was uploaded to all of our Windows 7 Professional computers on 6/14/16. When the employee tries to open a PDF in this program, IE11 hangs and the PDF will not open either. IE11 must be shutdown. Our work around is to remove KB3160005 and then check for the updates and when it appears to hide it and this fixes the problem.
This update is shown to be critical according to TechNet and so I would like to know which one of the 5 patches incorporated into the patch is actually causing the problem and what we can do to fix it and not lose the update by removing it.
Windows 10 Professional will sometime exhibit the same issues with the same mission critical program, but the patch KB3160005 is not on any of the systems I have looked at, so I have to merely reset the browser and then all is well after that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is taking up all of the helpdesk's time resetting this patch and making our employees efficient again.

How do I recover my deleted live.com account
I removed my live.com account in order to make my outlook.com account the primary account, but my mail app in windows 10 still does not see my outlook.com account as primary account. Presently I cannot send or receive mails using the live.com account and need to recover the live.com account so I can continue to use it. How do I recover my live.com account?

Browsing History Not Being Recorded
I am having a problem with my Internet Explorer 9
Something is wrong with the browsing history. A few days ago, it suddenly stopped recording the sites I have visited and it only records the documents I have opened up through Computer
I do not have InPrivate Browsing on, I did not check the option for Delete Browsing History on Exit, I did not click the Delete button to delete my browsing history, and I did not change any settings. All that happened was that I was browsing websites and the Browsing History function was working like normal, and then all of a sudden on Wednesday, it stops recording my websites and only records the Microsoft Word documents I have opened up that day
I am not sure if the Temporary Internet Files Folder is full, but I have never had a problem with it in the past and the storage space is in the recommended range.
I have not made any changes to any of the setting at all.
I could really use some help on this because it is really bothering me
