After downloading and installing an Windows " Important Update" and had closed update window a page opened sayig to update to IR 10...I have Windows  and it would not install, I got error message saying will not install on Qindows 7 without SP 1 or higher which I thought I had but did not actually have it yet...I went to Updte page and downloaded all Important updates which installed SP 1 some kind of redistributable update and IE 10 would not install again then after running every important update which included a SP 1 and Windows servers 2008 update and SP 2...and after all updates installed and computer rebooted still will not install??? I even later shut notebook off completely overnight and most of next day, it still will not install...I found no help in Microsoft Community forums not the vertual live support...I get not other error messages just the one that IE 10 will not install on anything but Windows 7 SP 1 or higher...I do not know how to fix this or if it is worth fixing????  I use Google Chrome as default browser but when internet server wants to connect remotely to ,y computer I have to use IE 8 so they are able...Would trying first to upgrade to IR 9 maybe help? Or deleting the file I downloaded that will not install and possibly downloading it again be a possible solution??? If there is anyone who can help I would greatly appreciate it...Alicurio4118

Deploying IE10 via SCCM Software updates

$

I have been waiting for Internet Explorer 10 to appear as an update that I can approve via the SCCM 2012 Software Update system.  I am seeing monthly Cumulative Security Updates for IE10 but I have not seen the actual Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7(x86)(x64) show up that I can approve and deploy with out making our own software deployment for IE10.  I was under the impression that at some point MS would release IE10 in the same fashion it did for IE9 in making it a software update.

In some online documents I see the need to have Update Rollups listed in the classifications for WSUS or SCCM Software Updates and I have that classification checked.  When I look at the individual products I dont see an entry for IE10 so I have been guessing it would just appear one month with the regular update release cycle.

Anyone have any idea if MS is going to release IE10 in this fashion or if I need to create my own deployment package for IE10 to get it deployed via SCCM to my organization.

Configuration of Auto Configuration Script on Per Machine basis

$

For security reasons we are required to use the "Make Proxy Settings Per Machine" set to Enabled. This is done to prevent users from configuring proxy configurations we didn't authorize. We want to move to a PAC file because the configuration will be much simpler, but I don't see how to configure the proxy configuration script under the computer settings. We have been trying to configure it under user preferences as an alternative, though we are concerned that doing it this way may also be subject to user or malicious logic tampering.  We are using IE8 on Windows 7 SP1. Our domain controllers are Server 2008 R2 running IE 10 (no Internet Explorer Maintenance options are available).

Does the "Make Proxy Settings Per Machine" setting affect the  "Use automatic Configuration Script" setting? What is the recommended secure way to implement a PAC file to an enterprise. In our case we may want to have more than one PAC file based on group membership, so we would prefer not to use DHCP to configure the proxy configuration script.

IE 10 Prompting for credentials - Windows Authentication in IIS

Hi everyone...

My web site is using Windows Authentication, and grant everyone with an domain account access to the web site.

When using IE7, IE8, or IE9, the domain user can access the web site without being prompted for a password.

When using IE10, the user is prompted everytime.  Is there a setting I can change on IIS or somewhere else to prevent being prompted in IE10?

I don't want to add the website in the local intranet security in Internet Options because I do not want my 25k users to do it : I need to make it works like it used to with the previous versions of IE.

Thanks!

How do I disable the "Protected mode is currently turned off for the Internet zone" message?

The message is a waste of my screen real estate. Yes, Protected mode is turned off. Sure it is, I turned it off myself, and it will stay off. Now how do I disable this annoying nag message?

Also the messages about File Downloads. Never once in my life I clicked a download link by mistake. Yes, I'm clicking that dang URL, because I wan't to download that dang file, now get out my way, annoying warning message. How do I disable this one too? Thank you in advance

How is IE9 (No Add Ons) different from Manage Add Ons/ Disable All ?

I have been seeing an issue on my customers' PCs with an internal proprietary web application. When you sign in, an additional IE9 window is opened and the browser becomes unstable or unresponsive.

We are able to work around the issue by opening IE9 (No Add Ons) from accessories menu.

However, the problem persists if I open Manage Add Ons and disable everything I can find.

So, the question: How does Manage Add Ons / Disable all that I can find differ from IE 9 (No Add Ons) from the start menu?

Is there a way I can compare a live dump of running processes or extensions to view the results from each of these cases to see what is still running in the Manage Add Ons / Disable everything scenario that might be interfering with our application?

Thanks!

IE 10 times out after about 10 seconds and displays a "This page cannot be displayed" message

$

Every since I installed Windows 8 and IE 10 in December of 2012, I have noticed that IE seems to time out fairly quickly and returns a  "This page cannot be displayed" message.  This appears to happen after about 10 seconds if a website does not render in that amount of time.

We have a website with a considerable amount of content and during busy periods it is not uncommon for a page to require a little more time to render. When I go to pages in FireFox or Chrome, the loading indicator keeps spinning indicating that the page is still downloading and often times the download completes as desired.

However, in IE 10 when the "This page cannot be displayed" message appears so soon, it gives customers the impression that our website is down or not functional.

I would prefer that IE 10 show a progress indicator for more than 10 seconds before deciding that the page is not available and if the download time is longer then let the customer decide when they want to abort the download.  I think that as long as the progress indicator is running, most people are willing to wait a little longer than 10 seconds for a page to render.

Having IE 10 make the decision that 10 seconds is too long is very frustrating because it leads to customers getting the impression that our website is not working when in fact it is.

We are not able to control customers choice of browsers and IE is still the leading browser people use when visiting our website.  However, IE 9 under Windows 7 is still the primary browser accessing our website and IE 9 does not appear to have this"cut off" feature set to 10 seconds.

IE settings reset on first start after reboot. Why?

$

I have a client running IE8 on XP. He is using a Citrix based app that requires encrypted  pages to be saved to disk. Each time he boots, the relevant security setting has been reset, and he has to go in and change it again.

The setting, on the advanced tab of internet options, under security, is "Do not save encrypted pages to disk". This is not entirely relevant, as the problem extends to all security settings. These are the ones that are stored in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Internet Settings

I have managed to narrow down the exact point that this happens to the first time IE8 is started after boot. If changes are made subsequently they persist until the machine is rebooted. The settings remain after a boot, but are reset as soon as IE8 is started. Changes made manually in the registry suffer in the same way.

The same is not true of changes to the homepage etc. These changes persist.

The machine is not in a domain, I don't believe Group Policy is causing the problem. Logged in as a different user the same thing does not happen, so it's user specific. Moreover, the settings that it gets reset to do not appear to be the defaults (for example Do not save encrypted pages to disk becomes checked, where a default IE install seems to have this as unchecked).

The same thing happens if I start IE with no add-ons. I have checked registry permissions, reset IE, removed and reinstalled IE all to no avail, cleared cache, cookies etc. What else could be causing these settings to be reset?

Meta fix to emulate IE9 not working for IE10

IE10 is breaking our site with its issues with ajax. We have tried to apply the follow fix but it does not solve the problems.

Fix applied:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE9" />

Anytime we call a table with ajax the user is presented with a login screen instead of the table. Unfortunately it is a proprietary site so I cannot post screen shots. All other browsers (FireFox, Chrome) naturally work fine. IE8-9 also work fine.

Using F12 to change the Browser Mode to IE9 solves the problems but we cannot expect our users to change their browser modes each time they visit the site.

Can't install IE10 (for Visual Studio 2013)

$

The title says a lot of the story. I don't actually want to use IE10, but I need it if I'm going to get Visual Studio 2013 installed. I've tried everything from clean boots to third-party downloads and even unpacking it manually but nothing has worked. The error code is 9C59. In case you need basic computer specs:

AMD Phenom X4 B50 (3.2Ghz)

8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 RAM

Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti, manufactured by Zotac.

I can't imagine any of the above being a problem, so is there any other way to install IE10? Or maybe a workaround in getting Visual Studio 2013 installed without IE10?

IE10: Save as don't work

$

hi,

i got a problem with ie10 and can't figure it out.

my domain:
windows server 2008 r2 sp1
windows 7 enterprise x64 sp1 with ie10

ie10 is integrated in my wds install.wim file with the requested updates (KB2533623, KB2670838, KB2729094, KB2731771, KB2786081). no further updates are installed.

ie10 is configured with the policy preferences. i set a default home page and proxy settings. i didn't touch the other settings.

now many users came to me with a weird problem: they can't save a internet page with "save as". a window occours with this message: This Webpage can't be saved.

i tried this, but it didn't work:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools icon at the top right corner.
3. From the displayed context menu, click Internet options.
4. From the Internet Options box, go to Advanced tab.
5. Once selected, scroll down to Security category, and uncheck Do not save encrypted pages to disk checkbox.
6. Click OK when done.

i spend many hours to check my policies and i'm on a dead end. this is what i figured out:

  1. i deleted my testuser profil. i disabled my own policies (only the default domain policy work. i didn't make any settings here). ie10 "save as" works.
so i logoff and enabled all my own policies. then i logged on and ie10 "save as" works fine.
so it can't be a setting in my policies. or not?
  2. i deleted my testuser profil. with my own policies enabled i logged the testuser on. ie10 "save as" didn't work.

so it looks to me like a problem when the profil is created. what can i do? i have ~ 1000 users and i can't delete all profiles just to make ie10 "save as" work. what can i do or what can i check?

Internet Zone display on Status Bar

$

Good day.

Not a huge issue, but a bit cumbersome.  We run our IE installations with tightly controlled security zones.  When troubleshooting scripting issues for end users, the first question I ask is "which zone displays at the bottom of the IE window".

I am currently testing IE 9 (the actual released version...not the beta, but there's no forum on the released version yet) in our environment before rolling it out to everyone and I have found that while there is still a status bar at the bottom, it no longer displays which zone the currently displayed site falls under.

Is there a way to restore this functionality (I'm sure I'm missing a checkbox somewhere).  This is very useful when troubleshooting and is truly needed in our environment.

Scott

After installing the above referenced important update my previously working coded ui tests are unable to find controls in IE9 and all tests fail.  Rolling back the update resolves the issue.

Has anybody else encountered such problems or know what the issue might be?

IE10 ignoring directives to run in IE9 mode

We are running a SharePoint 2013 Web Part application and IE 10 is ignoring the settings.

We want to run IE10 in compatibility mode using IE9 standards.

We have successfully set the page meta tags to point to IE 9 emulation mode, but IE 10 is ignoring these settings

With Dev tools open (F12) the menu bar shows Browser Mode: IE 10 and Document Mode: Standards in spite of the Web Page HTML showing the following:

Redirect issue on windows and IE

$

have a asp.net web page with two pages: default.aspx, and about.aspx

In the page load of the about.aspx.cs, the page will redirect to default.aspx in 20 seconds:

Response.AppendHeader("Refresh", 20 + "; URL=default.aspx");

When I go to the about.aspx page in IE10, then on my windows 7 computer, I lock my computer. Wait a little bit longer then 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, I unlock my computer, and see that my browser has the new url(default.aspx), but the browser still shows the about.aspx page. After clicking around in the browser, the browser will show default.aspx after a couple moments.

If I don't lock my computer, the redirect happen perfectly. Chrome and FireFox works perfectly locked and unlocked.

Has anyone seen this before?

How do I stop IE 9 from blocking websites from displaying content with security certificate errors? Every site that I visit, I get this message, and I keep clicking and clicking and most of the times, the photographs go blank.

THen when I try to sign into my facebook page, I get Access denied, you do not have permission to access.

THis has absolutely got to be the very worst Internet Explorer version that I have ever used in over  20 years of use. I am very VERY close to not using IE atoll and use Firefox, or Chrome or even Safari.

Windows XP Sp3 & IE8 -- Error Opening .asp page on a local machine

$

Hi,

I have Windows XP SP3 with IE8. I have an application which saves .asp pages from the server to a local machine. These local files are then utilized to open the application in a cached mode when the network is down.

With IE8, I found that .asp local page doesn't render the web page and displays the code instead.

I tried with a very simple "hello world" html content but saving it as a .asp file and I could replicate the issue.

This used to work fine with IE6.

Anyone has an idea if there is an issue with IE8?

Thanks,

Problems to connect on RWW with internet explorer

Internet Explorer 10 and Windows 7 in a laptop (Internet Explorer 10 and Windows 8 in other laptop).

I've tried to connect remotely with RWW to my company from both laptops. I introduced name and password and went inside the RWW main screen. I tried to connect to my computer from there and appeared this message: "Problem: The wizard cannot configure Remote Desktop Connection Settings. Make sure that the client version of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 6.0 or later is installed on this computer."

RDP version 6.2 installed in my computer. I have checked everything you can imagine: open ports, change RDP version, edit group policy.

Even I tried to uninstall internet explorer to install internet explorer 9 (With internet explorer 9 is working in other PC's and laptops) I can't uninstall internet explorer 10 from programs and features because it doesn't appear.

I have heard that I can uninstall internet explorer 10 introducing a code from cmd but I am not quite sure...

Could someone help me, please? I am a little bit desperate... Thanks in advance!!
