Can ping a website but Web Browser won't display it on Windows 10

Hi all,

I have a Dell Precision M4600 and I've upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  Everything works on it just fine, I can even using the Edge Browser or Internet Explorer to browse to websites....except one.  I try to go to a certain SharePoint site on the Office365 platform and I always get that the browser can't display the page, however I can ping it.  Also when trying to download files from the Office365 site I get an error and it won't download as well.  The error just says that its unable to download.  This is the same behavior that i get from the Edge Browser as well as Google Chrome Browser. When I use another PC that's the same model and same Windows 10 version (Ent), I can use Internet Explorer, the Edge Browser, and Chrome Browser to access the website just fine.

I've tried disabling the firewall, disabling AV, I've flushed the DNS, I've released and renewed the IP, I've disabled and re-enabled the NIC card, I've changed the ip address the DNS is pointing to, I've made sure no proxy was configured, and I've refreshed the TCP/IP Stacks, I've also done a malware scan to make sure that isn't an issue. None of those things work.  On the affected PC is there anything else that I can try to fix this issue?

navigator.userAgent String changes while I visit different sites in IE 11

Hi, I'm using IE 11 in my company laptop, I noticed that navigator.userAgent String changes while I visit the different sites.

For example,

1) if I visit https://bqlearn.com/metro/, and using dev tools to get the navigator.userAgent.

The returned string is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.3; rv:11.0) like Gecko" ()

2) if I visit https://www.franklin.edu/myfranklin/.

the navigator.userAgent string is like : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0

Why is that? since it's the same browser window.

Thanks,

Alex

Microsoft Edge search via address bar problem (queries with a dot)

Hi

I have a clean installation of Windows 10.1 enterprise (English).

I try to use Microsoft Edge browser to search a query. All settings are just "default out of the box".

Most queries work ok but if I try a query with a dot then browser thinks I am entering an URL. For example I try searching "xamarin forms 2.0". This ends up with browser attempting to open an URL: "http://xamarin%20forms%202.0/" which obviously fails.

In classic Internet Explorer 11 this problem does not reproduce, only in Edge.

Any idea how to fix that?

Best regards,
Eugene.

Unable to open the website in I E 11 with KB3008923 but open with KB3139929

Hello all

In our environment after upgrading to IE 11 KBi3008923 , one oracle website does not open, but when enabling Enterprise mode from tools , the website opens

So we decided to push via GPO by creating site list manager, and added 3 website , 2 normal and 1 oracle website, however 2 normal website open with current version of IE 11 but not the required oracle website, so i changed the version of IE 11 to KB3139929 and all the website opens with enterprise mode.

Can anyone explain this.

EMIE - server URL add as 1 string

I'm currently using the Enterprise Mode Site List Manager for a few server URL's which needs to be inserted as a 1 liner.

For example, when I add a sample server URL like AMD41A-S-22143.europe.xxx.com/slink_pro_liant/project, it separates into 2 items which is;

AMD41A-S-22143.europe.xxx.com -- Launch in: IE8 Enterprise Mode

/slink_pro_liant/project -------------- Launch in: IE8 Enterprise Mode

What I would want to accomplish is how can I make it into a 1 liner. For example;

AMD41A-S-22143.europe.xxx.com/slink_pro_liant/project ------Launch in: IE8 Enterprise Mode

Any advice/suggestions on the issue above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

IE 11 not correctly displaying a web page. (Windows 10, IE 11)

{There should be a screenshot of gibberish text on a web page}

Check it out. http://i.imgur{dot}com/xQJfr66.png?1

The web page is at winddweb{dot}github{dot}io/blog/coding/tutorial/2016/05/18/start-a-blog-on-github-using-jekyll.html

I have no problem viewing this page using Safari on OS X, and iOS, and Chrome, Edge on Windows 10. The IE 11 is the one that has this issue. And I never used IE 11 before.

If anyone may figure it out, I will be appreciate it very much.

For some reason I have no permission to include link or screenshot in my question.

Microsoft Update Catalog problems

Is anyone else having problems clicking on the browse button after being UAC'd when attempting to download a file from the Catalog?

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/DownloadInformation.aspx

In addition, even if UAC works, I get a cryptic proxy prompt asking me to enter my credentials to the "proxy-server."

I can't be the only one experience this. This is with Internet Explorer 8.x.

IE11 resets local intranet registry keys on launch

We have deployed IE11 via IEAK and have a proxy set which currently set to return direct for all sites. This means IE is seeing all external sites in the intranet zone due to the setting 'include all sites that bypass the proxy server' being enabled. If I manually untick this then everything works as all external sites are in the internet zone and the setting is permanent.

However, I need to deploy this setting site wide and the group policy "Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page - Intranet Sites: Include all sites that bypass the proxy server" (both computer and user) set to disable only greys out the box unticked but does not actually move external sites into the internet zone.

I've tried using GPP to delete the registry key HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Proxybypass which does work but as soon as I re-launch IE the setting is written back with the value 1 and it is back in the wrong state again.

Using process monitor I can see it is iexplore.exe that sets this key back to 1 on launch and when I manually untick the box all it does it delete the Proxybypass key and nothing else. Has anyone seen this before and managed to work around it?  It seems very similar to https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/3bc5a7ca-ccad-4207-96a4-407765205c20/starting-ie8-changes-zonemap-settings-second-thread?forum=ieitprocurrentver

Start IE by PowerShell all SMB files not accessible

Hi guys

We deploy our Intranet site by GPO with a "User Log on" action and PowerShell script.

$IE = New-Object -com internetexplorer.application;
 $IE.visible = $true;
 start-sleep -s 15
 $IE.navigate("http://intranet");
It's working fine, the IE11 is starting up and the Intranet is showing.

But all the files we have linked in the Intranet to a Windows Server 2012 R2 share are not working, we get an error when we click on such a link: "Cannot find 'file///X:/PathExample/123.pdf Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."

The strange thing is, if we close the IE11 and reopen it again with the same PowerShell script, it's working and all files opens just fine. All Users have a mapped drive to this share and the path is correct.

It also can't be a timing problem that the IE script is starting too early before the drive mapping GPO is applied to the user, because even I increase the"start-sleep -s 15 to 60 seconds, the behaviour is the same. Can't open the linked files, if we close IE and open it again or start the IE PS script again, it's working.

Any suggestions?

Thx

This view and manage your downloads box keeps popping up with things I have downloaded in the past years to my computer. The problem is it states run or save and neither option works. I cannot open up skype, spotify, my driver up feature, chrome, and everything that I have from the past. This morning when I opened up internet explorer it opened up 50 windows. I pretty much cannot use my computer. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS. THIS IS CRAZY. TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS.

PDFs failing to load and display

http://www.cyc-net.org/cyc-online/cyconline.html refers.

Our site is hosted on an IIS server. We have been notified that PDFs (any PDF) from the above URL refuse to load or display. Loading stops at varying instances - usually between 500-900k. We have done some tests and confirm this to be the case on IE10, 11, Chrome and Edge. Firefox works without issue.

Smaller file size PDFs appear to load without issue. The PDFs from the above URL all tend to be above 10 megs.

We have also tested by moving some of the PDFs from the above URL to another server (Linux) and they load without issue.

I'm not sure whether this is an IIS issue or a browser issue, but I'm asking here first.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Martin

IE 11 Failed to install

I am trying to install IE11 via WSUS at my workplace and it is failing to install on random PC because update KB is not detected as installed. I have tried install the problem KB and reinstalling it manually or via wsus and it still fails to install.

Why is IE11 such a hassle to install? Why is everything I seem to do with MS a hassle? Nothing ever goes through smoothly.

I am not the only one affected by this problem as there are many reports from 2012 of exactly the same issue. The fix is to install IE11 as a download rather than through windows update. This might work for a home user but I have 1000 users to push ie11 out to.

The stupid update is 1.6mbyte but it takes 3 reboots and 20 mins loading to uninstall and install.

Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.18314 crashing

So opening IE11 and going to any page seems to crash IE. Here's what I can see for5m the event viewer after each crash but it seems very generic

The program IEXPLORE.EXE version 11.0.9600.18315 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
 Process ID: 208c
 Start Time: 01d1b1fd775e9759
 Termination Time: 13
 Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
 Report Id:

Steps taken so far:

-Reset IE11 back to factory settings under Advanced

-Cleared all chache and cookies from within IE and using CCleaner

-Outlook in safe mode has the same problem

-I ran the Microsoft fix it but that has not worked

-Tried removing IE11 but it says "an error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully installed"

-Also tried re-installing IE11 but it says I have a newer version

Secondary Start Pages only work when pressing the "Home" button, not on IE Startup

$

I am trying to setup IE11 via group policy and have configured a start page and a Secondary home page.

However when IE11 is loaded, only the first home page tab appears, if I then click on the "Home" button in Internet Explorer, the Secondary page tab then appears.

How can I get both tabs to appear when IE starts?

I thought it might be the "Open only the first home page when Internet Explorer starts" option under Settings/Tabs that was causing the issue, but it's unchecked...

Does anyone know what else could be causing this?

Yahoo! Mail High CPU Usage

$

I've always had this issue with Internet Explorer and hoped it would be resolved with the IE9 (RC) but it has not.  Specifically, when I have a tab open with my Yahoo! Mail inbox, my computer consumes a steady minimum of at least 50% CPU when idle.  Any further user interaction with Yahoo! mail causes my CPU to spike upwards to 100%, making navigation around my inbox extremely sluggish.

I do not have this issue with the Google Chrome browser which leaves my CPU idling around 0% when a tab is left open in my Yahoo! Mail inbox and navigation is easy when I interact with it.

This is just one example of a site where there is a very noticeable performance difference between Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.  Performance issues have been the main reason I switched from IE to Chrome within the past year.  I was hoping to see significant improvements in performance with the IE9 (RC), but this is not the case, especially with Yahoo! Mail.

I'm under the impression that Yahoo! Mail is script intensive and that I'm seeing the difference between the script engines of these two browsers, but this is only a guess on my part.

If anyone else has noticed this issue or can offer additional insights, I'd appreciate any feedback you can contribute, thanks.
