I have unchecked the Enable Suggested Sites feature in Tools > Advanced > Browsing.
Yet, IE 10 keeps suggesting web sites to my while I'm typing web addresses into the address bar.
How can I reliably disable this behaviour? I don't want to feed search engine robots.
Since installing Windows 8.1, I have been experiencing issues with script loading in IE 11: When the server responds with "304 Not Modified" in response to a script request, bad things happen. Specifically, I encounter script errors that would normally be caused by a missing script reference or having references in the wrong order (e.g. "Unable to get property 'foo' of undefined or null reference"). Doing a force-refresh (i.e. Ctrl+F5) corrects the issue until the next page load.
Based on what I see in the IE 11 developer tools, it looks like the scripts are loaded correctly. I can open them in the Debugger view and the content appears to be correct. Perhaps IE is just not loading them in the correct order in this scenario?
I noticed this problem myself and then someone else (who has also recently installed Windows 8.1) informed me that it appears he is experiencing exactly the same issue on a different site.

I installed Win 8, and I'm using IE10. But when I visit some of my favorite forums and web pages (forum.tauri.hu, prohardver.hu, etc.) and I choose the "Keep me logged in" option, after browser restart, or in mid browsing, I get logged out, and have to re log in. Using another browser, I don't have a problem, but on my laptop only IE can play 720p or 1024p Youtube videos fluently.
I tried resetting, without success. But yahoo.com, live.com can keep me logged in.
I setup a new user on a stand-alone Windows 10 laptop this weekend and noticed that most websites hang in both Edge and IE11. I had a look at the user's rights and made sure that they were removed from the local USERS group and only were a member of the Administrators group. Then I looked at IE itself and found that if I ran IE as administrator, it worked fine, so I logged the user out and back in again, and still nothing. I also noticed that IE has a setting to run with administrative privileges, which I enabled and still nothing. I thought at this point that it might be a website issue, or at least an ISP issue. I tried the same sites with the first logged in account on the same machine and everything worked fine.
At this point I was looking at a user rights issue, I thought. Then I tried the same sites with the new user using Chrome and everything worked fine. So I'm at a loss as to what this might be. I've check that IE is using software rendering so that's not the issue.
Any ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
An example of a site would be to go to www.webex.com then try to log in. The login page just spins and spins.
Where I work, we still support the latest version of IE 11, since a sizeable portion of our customers still run it.
So we have a bunch of tests for downloading files that are blocked due to internet explorer 11 throwing up the download dialog asking whether to open, save, cancel etc... The dialog is the little narrow one at the bottom of the browser window.
I have tried various things like unchecking "Notify me when my downloads are complete.", but that doesn't work with the latest versions of IE 11.
Our testing for IE 11 has taken a nosedive because of this issue.
We have IE11's Enterprise Mode enabled and working. I have been given two new URLs to add to the sitelist, but when I add them and apply to a test system, the value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode\CurrentVersion does not increment to the new version number; instead the value goes blank.
The format for the new URLs differs slightly from existing entries.
appname.domain.com - this is the format for existing entries and works
app.domain.com/apps/appname - this is the format for the new entries. Adding either of the two new URLs that use this format causes the VersionNumber value to go blank.
Any ideas on why this would happen? We are using the v.1 XML schema.

I'm just wondering is there any way to hide internet explorere from appearing in windows 8.1 search and list of applications?
I know you can remove IE but I don't want to do this. Just want to "hide" it so somebody who knows location of iexplorer can start it. Usually when dealing with Chrome or Firefox I can rename the app and change icon but IE is "protected".
IE is basically used for everything so removing it isn't an option so any advice is welcome.

upon downloading doc files. The issue does not occur for docx, xls and xlsx.
The prompt would kill the file download process of doc file for an application we are using but we could not turn off EPM due to our company's security policies. Does anyone know what is the root cause of this issue and/or have a permanent fix?
Hello! We just installed two computers with W10 and MSEdge.
One computer is fine with no problems. The second is having network issues. I traced the problem to proxy settings. Edge does allow us to turn off automatically detect proxy settings but when we try to turn off "use setup script" the save button grays out and we cannot save. We then turn on automatic detect and the setup script still will not turn off. For the computer that's working fine, both proxy setting are set to off without any setup script problems. Any ideas? I searched forums with no success.

When downloading files in IE 10 we get quite long security scan times after file is downloaded.
Is this an IE feature i can disable or exclude file extension from being scanned?
How do I stay logged into websites as I installed anti virus and its completely messed everything up and now if I even leave the page for a minute it logs me out even through I've now uninstalled it. There is no stay logged in button and the clear cookies
option is unticked so it isn't that.
The problem has persisted and its on every website that I visit and I'm now getting problems with ads that were blocked before now being allowed and I don't know how to fix it all and get it back to how it was before and also when I searched for something
in Google more than once it would list it as a suggestion and it has stopped doing that as well now too.
Please help me if you can. I'm getting desperate and I really want to fix this before my next uni assignment needs to be done.

I'm using Windows 10 and I'm trying to configure it so that when I open a certain page in Microsoft Edge, it will detect show to open it in Internet Explorer. I'm trying to do this by using Enterprise Mode.
I read all the articles on TechNet and it seems to be configured properly, but it simply won't work! Here's what I did...I first used the Enterprise Site Tool to create my XML file, which looks like this:

Next, I went into the registry and change these two settings:
1. User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Use the Enterprise Mode IE website list
2. User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Microsoft Edge\Allow you to configure the Enterprise Site List
For both, I entered the local path to my XML file. Here is where I think something is wrong. This is the path I am using:
file:///c:\\Users\\Aseem\\Documents\\list.xml
When I type this into IE or Edge, it opens the file just fine, but like I said, when I visit the webpages in Edge, it just loads them normally. It does not give me a message to open the pages in IE.
What am I doing wrong? I restarted the computer and logged out of the user account after making the changes, but still no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
