Enterprise Mode IE7 - document mode 5

0
0

If I turn on compatibility mode manually in IE11 it correctly detects the existence of a DOCTYPE tag in the html and either uses IE7 or IE5 document mode. It is happily using IE7 mode as we do have a DOCTYPE tag on our internal webserver.

It I use an Enterprise Mode site list to choose IE7 Enterprise mode or IE7 Document Mode, it always uses IE5 document mode, regardless of the DOCTYPE tag.  While we transition, the default for our internal sites need to be in IE7 mode, but IE5 is breaking our sites.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior or know how to make it not use IE5 document mode?

IE 11 upgrade appears to have corrupted TIF affecting Outlook 2010 (images) and Excel 2010 (embedded queries)

I'm running Windows 7 Professional and just upgraded IE from 9 to 11. Afterwards, I observed that Outlook 2010 was not downloading pictures (instead showing red x's) and Excel 2010 embedded internet queries stopped working.

I think I've cornered the problem, but can't seem to fix. I have also observed that IE's temporary internet files (TIF) folder may be missing (Internet Options>Browsing History>Settings>Temporary Internet Files shows nothing under Current Location) and the allotted disk space is set to zero and cannot be changed. If I input another number (no matter the number), I receive the following error message:

"Please select a value between 8 and 8 for how much disk space Temporary Internet Files may use."

I have tried renaming the following RegEdit keys, but to no avail: Cache and LowCache (both under HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Internet Settings>5.0). They get replaced when IE11 is re-opened.

The actual values within the registry keys are as follows:

Cache>Content>CacheLimit = 8192 (Decimal)

LowCache>Content>CacheLimit = 256000 (Decimal)

This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IE 11 - Intranet sites added to list do not stay

0

I have, what seems to me, a strange problem. The company I work for uses sharepoint for our intranet sites (no, this is not a sharepoint question) and we have recently upgraded to a new version. When we upgraded, the site now needs to be added to the local intranet site list in order for it to automatically receive windows log in credentials and log users in to SharePoint. This is a simple fix, I have done it on dozens of machines, but on a select few the fix doesn't seem to work. Whenever I add a website to the intranet sites list, it acts as if it was added... then as soon as I close the dialog box that is used to enter and display this info, it's gone, and by gone I mean I open back up the box and it has disappeared from the list. There is no trace of me ever having changed a setting. There are currently no GPOs active that would cause these to be taken out of the list, I have tried adding the sites directly into the registry and they disappear there too, I'm not sure if this is the right place for my question but I figure it's a start. So again:

Problem: Sites do not stay in proper security zone, all traces of them existing are erased on closing of dialog box.

Troubleshooting Done so Far: Tried directly placing in registry, no fix. No GPO's are active to remove said sites from zones.

"Create file mapping failed" error message when accessing specific website on Internet Explorer 11

Hello,

One of my users is having this issue. She is is using Windows 7 Pro x64 bit with Internet Explorer 11. Everytime she tries to access a specific website IE stops working and gives the following error message:

create file mapping failed (6), wc_registry_mmap_name

No one else is having this issue when visiting the same website on their computers, it only happens to her. I reset IE's settings on her computer but that didn't fix the issue. I can use a different web browser on her computer to visit the website, so I know the website isn't the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Compatibility View In IE 11 Won't Differentiate Two Separate Web Addresses from Same Server

0

Hello IE Community:

I am an IT Project Manager and implementing two hosted software applications for our Community Development Department. One application syncs with the other. Both are on the same server with the same domain but with different threads.

The problem is that one application requires Compatibility View in IE 11, but the other does not. And since CV won't differentiate two separate addresses from the same server (it always defaults to just the domain), the setting confuses the second application into believing that it too, is set up with CV. The result is one malfunctioning application. Turn CV completely off, and the other application won't function properly.

Why won't the CV dialog differentiate two separate web addresses from the same server???

We are going live in a week and any help or solutions would be very much appreciated.

Thank You,

Glisse.

Internet Explorer 11 with Windows 10 Recover Webpage on HTTPS pages after imaging

0

Ok, we use SCCM and the unattend.xml answerfile for imaging. I have created more than one image in VM and using it for our Gold image. Internet Explorer 11 works fine in the VM prior to sysprep. We sysprep and use the unattend to copy the default profile. after imaging, on any https pages we get recover webpage constantly. we have reset IE and still the same. It does work without plugins. we find out with flash object enabled it crashes. of course some pages will not work with out flash so this is not an option. It also works when you run as administrator. we also do not want to set that because we also use the ACL controls and do not want the users to have to click yes every time they launch IE. Any insight would be helpful as we have many reasons to use IE and need it working properly. we have created a new answer file also with the same results and this seems to be the ONLY issue...

Thanks,

Bobby

IE11: Unable to enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2

0

I have recently been testing Windows in FIPS-compliance mode for compliance with a common security policy mandated by a state government agency.  This included my assigned laptop, which is running Windows 8.1 Update Enterprise x64.

As part of the test, I enabled the "System cryptography: Use FIPS 140 compliant cryptographic algorithms, including encryption, hashing and signing algorithms" both in local security policy on my machine and later via a test GPO.  Since that test has completed, I have deleted the GPO and disabled the setting in local security policy.  I've also rebooted several times to verify the setting is truly disabled and also tried creating a GPO that forces that setting to disabled.

What I am seeing is, since performing these tests, I can no longer enable TLS 1.1 or 1.2 on IE11.  They were previously enabled.  The settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 are all grayed out.  SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, and TLS 1.0 are checked (and cannot be unchecked) and TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are unchecked (and cannot be checked).

Suspecting group policy, I put my user account and computer account in an OU that has group policy inheritance blocked and made a GPO that only forces SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 on for my user account and applied it to my test GPO.  The particular setting is Policies | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Internet Explorer | Internet Control Panel | Advanced Page | Turn off encryption support | Use SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2.  I ran gpupdate /force, rebooted, checked local security policy to confirm that my laptop is not in FIPS mode, then checked the IE11 advanced options and there was no change.

How can I get TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 back?

*filename*.mdb couldn't be downloaded.

Hi all,

We have database files hosted on an intranet that get downloaded as needed. When the link is clicked we get a box asking what we want to do (open, save, save as), we then click Open and Internet Explorer 11 then proceeds to download & open the file. That all works fine.

However once it is finished downloading an orange box will popup at the bottom of IE that says "*filename*.mdb couldn't be downloaded."... even though it did download and open it.

What's going on here?

Cheers!

IE 11 on Windows 10 crashes with Protected Mode On

I am having an issue where Protected Mode causes certain websites to crash with IE11. I have noticed it on three different websites. Our internal Citrix webpage, GoToAssist's portal, and our Exchange OWA website. If Protected Mode is on, these websites cause IE11 to crash. When Protected Mode is off, the websites work fine. I have only seen this behavior on Windows 10. It works fine on Windows 7. I have noticed this on multiple machines that are both domain and non-domain machines.

Back button losing parms in EDGE

Hi.  I just noticed this today.  MS Edge, windows 10.

From google, I perform a search. and go to whatever. Then hit the back button. When it gets back to google page, its a clean screen, no search results.  It is now a clean screen. That means you have to retype the search every time. Not to mention, what if are down about 5 pages in the search.

Anyway, losing that page where I had search results sort of makes the browser pretty useless. Well, lets say, it makes you switch to Firefox until this gets fixed.

I am using a almost new install of windows 10 Ultimate on a new PC, 64 bit.

ie11 win8.1 trusted root certification authority

https://internalwebsite.domain.local has a self-generated certificate. I browse to that site, I get a certificate warning about how it's not issued by a trusted certification authority. as expected.

I click continue, I click the certificate error, I click view certificates. issued to internalwebsite.domain.local, issued by internalwebsite.domain.local. I click install certificate, I put it in my local machine's Trusted Root Certification Authorities store. I exit out and close IE. I open MMC certificates snap-in and verify that the certificate is in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store.

I go back to the site, I still get an error saying the certificate was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.

same thing if I put the cert in the current user's trusted root certification authorities store.

huh?
