Cannot Unmute Embedded Videos in IE11

Hi- Running IE v11.0.9600.18125 on Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise. I cannot get sound for videos on many web sites. On Youtube, there isn't even the volume icon in the video window. On other sites, the video starts muted (X over speaker icon) and I cannot unmute it. I've tested this on several workstations with the same result. Any ideas?

Thanx

Hey !

So brand new PC - HP thing - installed 8.1 and it's got IE 11 in it ..... logged in - got the usual MS crap and ads in bloody MSN.

Picked google.ca as the start page and EVERY TIME I close the app and re-open it I get more ads and MSN bullshit!!

And yea, I specifically went in to Tools - Options and selected Google and NOT bloody MSN as the home page and told the startup option below the address bar to:  Start with Home Page - and picked that radio button.

So what MS "force their crap down your throat" is this now??    Getten so sick of MS getting more aggressive because their market share is going for crap!!

Cheers'

IE 11 freezes and closes immediately

In our client we are facing the below issue in only 4 machines.

When we open Internet Explorer 11 in the machines, it freezes for some time and then closes automatically. No error is getting recorded in the even viewer. Tries to launch the IE by disabling the add ons and by enabling the use software rendering instead of GPU rendering. Disabled the script also but no use. When i tried to uninstall IE 11 and use the old version of IE it works fine.

Kindly suggest

Internet Explorer cannot open url in local Windows network share

Windows Server 2012 R2 as a domain controller

Internet Explorer 11 64/32

Favorites are redirected to a Windows network share (on the server itself)

Issue: When clicking a favourite redirected to the Windows network share, IE does nothing.

For testing purpose,

  • I double click a .url file in redirected Favorites (e.g. \\domain_controller\profiles\username\Favorites\website.url), IE opens with a blank page.
  • If the .url file is placed at local drive or a Samba share (e.g. in a Synology box, probably it does not really matter as long as it is a network share residing in another computer), IE works fine.
  • The issue applies to every one (probably except Administrator) logged on the domain controller.
  • I tried reset IE.  It did not work.
  • Favourites redirection works on Windows 8.1 client computers in the domain.
  • Pinned Site Shortcut (.website) file works everywhere
  • When Enable Protected Mode in Internet Options\Security\Internet is disabled, IE can open .url file in a Windows network share.  But it is probably not a good idea to permanently disable it.

Any suggestion on fixing the issue?  Thank you.

.PDF File extension being stripped from download Internet Explorer (also certain sites not loading in IE but will in Chrome)

A really weird issue has arisen on a 2012R2 Terminal server.

In IE or Chrome, when a PDF is downloaded, the file extension will be stripped from the name. (.exe and .zip files do not appear to suffer)

For example items on this page, beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/03452791/filing-history

Download from the site without the file extension on them and need to have it added manually.

This happens in both Chrome and IE11 but do not appear to happen at our other customers or even in our own office.

Second Issue is related to the same customer, in that on the same terminal server certain sites will not load in IE but will load perfectly in Chrome.

The following page is a PDF as well so it might be a related issue, when trying to load it in IE they get a "This page can't be displayed" This happens with other sites but I do not have a list of them at the moment.

http://goo.gl/fAhGE6 is the shortlink for it.

The weirder thing is that their other servers have no problem with this site and they all use the same server for DNS as well.

For opening PDF files we currently have Foxit Reader installed. Which has worked perfect over the past 2 years.

Can anyone think of a setting that might be causing it?

Microsoft SSRS 2012 RSClientPrint ActiveX component doesn't install/run within IE 11

All,

We are running into an issue, where we see that the "print" button as available on the Microsoft Reporting Server site does not work on our Windows 7/8.1 systems. When pressing the button, a popup appears with the message "Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled, or try using Internet Explorer for  the desktop."

I have added the site to trusted sites, and allowed download and run of signed ActiveX controls, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155874(v=sql.110).aspx ).

I have configured the ActiveX Installer service, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631688(v=ws.10).aspx). After that action I see in the eventlog the following:

The ActiveX control http://server/Reports/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ReportSession=ao4hl1rhljvuac45oppnij55&Culture=1043&CultureOverrides=False&UICulture=9&UICultureOverrides=False&ReportStack=1&ControlID=e667391f2e7b4fa48db718cdfe60e61c&OpType=PrintCab&Arch=X86 from host URL http://mesbrouwen passed all policy checks.

....seems like the ActiveX object is marked as "ok"... but even then the file is not installed. Looking at a Process Monitor dump, I see the cab-file (RSClientPrint-x86.cab) is downloaded, but never reaches "Windows\Downloaded Program Files".

I would like to avoid having to deploy the component using a package. Does anyone have an idea? (googling around didn't provide me any answers that work for me -> which where the options mentioned above)

Help is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Sjoerd

Why can't I change my Proxy Setting Exceptions in IE 11 through Gpedit.msc

We used to be able to change our Proxy Setting Exceptions in gpedit.msc by going to

User Configurationà Windows Settingsà Internet Explorer MaintenanceàConnection --> Proxy Setting

We are migrating to IE11 and we need to be able to modify these settings through the gpedit.msc tool

Any suggestion(s) on who to do that would be most appreciated

Thanks
