Default Connection cannot be set and automatically dialed

$

I thought that this was a Windows 8.1 bug but it is an Internet Explorer 11 bug, the fact that I discovered after installing the developer preview of IE11 on Windows 7. To be absolutely clear, the problem is there on both Windows 8.1 and on Windows 7 with IE 11 installed.

My connection is PAP authenticated PPPoE dialup (over WiFi and ADSL), and the connection cannot be set as a default connection, the Internet options UI simply doesn't register and doesn't save the setting and it always looks like this:Internet options

As no default connection is apparently set, none is automatically dialed on startup and one has to manually initiate the connection. Moreover, the first attempt seems to failevery time with a 651 modem error. The second attempt succeeds.

To repeat: this is a bug both on the current Windows 8.1 Preview AND on IE 11 Preview for Windows 7.

IE10 Home page issues (Packaged created with IEAK 10)

The home page is managed via HKLM\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main registry key.

I created an IE10 package to deploy using the IEAK10. I have built several different iterations and they all have the same issue.

Post install and post reboot, the IE Home page is changing to msn.com. I have tried leaving the home page URL blank and selecting the Retain previous Home Page (upgrade). Post install/reboot the home page changes to msn.com. I verified the home page was set to our corporate intranet post install/pre reboot.

have tried entering the current home page URL (corporate intranet) and selecting the Retain previous Home Page (upgrade).Post install/reboot the home page changes to msn.com. I verified the home page was set to our corporate intranet post install/pre reboot. This iteration creates a secondary start page registry key under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main and is set to msn.com also. The HKLM registry key also changes to msn.com.

This is on Windows 7 Enterprise x86.

Has anyone else seen this type of behavior?

I've seen a number of other posts about this, but no solutions short of reinstalling from scratch.  (We'll back down to IE9 before doing that to all the workstations in our department.)

Any suggestions for how one can repair a system exhibiting such errors?

Is Chrome a carbon copy of Safari if so why ?

I forget the thread where you stated this but can you reiterate your view in comparisons ?

IE local intranet add this website to the zone greyed out

For some reason the add this website to the zone greyed out for all users on the domain when going into IE options\security. We had a GPO that put our SharePoint site in the zone awhile back but that GPO has been removed and there are no settings in that section of the domain policy anymore. It was in the Site to zone assignment list. I even tried adding the SharePoint URL to the Site to zone assignment list again to see if it would add it that way but its not doing it.

I have tried everything from every post online and don't know if there is anything else I could try to get this not to be greyed out anymore.

Windows XP Sp3 & IE8 -- Error Opening .asp page on a local machine

Hi,

I have Windows XP SP3 with IE8. I have an application which saves .asp pages from the server to a local machine. These local files are then utilized to open the application in a cached mode when the network is down.

With IE8, I found that .asp local page doesn't render the web page and displays the code instead.

I tried with a very simple "hello world" html content but saving it as a .asp file and I could replicate the issue.

This used to work fine with IE6.

Anyone has an idea if there is an issue with IE8?

Thanks,

IE10 problem : page can't be displayed when url resolves to external IP address

Hi. I'm using IE10 to access our company's website. If I allow DNS resolution (and thereby using external IP addresses), it will display a "This page can't be displayed" error. Same result if I put in the external IP addresses in my hosts file. However, if I use internal IP addresses in a hosts file, the website loads.

My question is : Why does IE10 handles external IPs and internal IPs differently? Is there a configuration that I can change so that it works for external IP as well?

Thanks in advance for answering.

Printer Properties box freezes when printing a pdf from IE10...

Hello --

I have a clean install of Win7 Professional (32-bit).. installed Adobe Reader 9.. installed Win7 SP1 and all necessary and recommended updates.. updated Reader to v9.5.5 (this is the only/latest version supported by some of our company software).. There is nothing else installed on this machine.

The problem: When I open IE10, click on a pdf link (the pdf displays properly in the browser), click the Print icon in the upper-left, click Properties in the Print dialog, the Properties dialog comes up and then freezes.  The tabs, buttons, and mouse pointer graphically change, but clicking does nothing.  Clicking the underlying Print dialog box makes the Properties box flash, so it's not totally locked, but just unresponsive to clicks.  The only way to close the dialog box is to stop the iexplore process in taskmgr.  This happens with any printer selected (tested on local and network printers, and even MS XPS Doc Writer, and Fax).

I can save the pdf and print from Reader directly with no problem, and I understand that I can deselect "Display pdfs in browser" in Reader options, however, those workarounds won't satisfy the users.

I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this or how to proceed further in troubleshooting this..  Can anyone lend a hand please?

Thanks.

Mouse Right-click stops working in IE8

Hi,

We have recently upgraded IE 6 to IE8. After the upgrade, we have started facing an issue with mouse right click. Our mouse right-click stops working all of sudden. To fix it, we close and open all browsers. The mouse right click then works for a while and then it again stops working again. This happens at least 2 or 3 times during the day.

And mouse right click works on microsoft word when it stops working on the browser. Cntrl C + Ctrl V still works on the browser

We tried disabling each add-ons one by one to see if that fixes the issue but it didn't. We tried disabling accelators but that didn't help either.

We verified the registry as well and mouse right click is not restricted.

I am running out of ideas to try to know what is causing the mouse right click to stop working in IE8 browser.

Any inputs?

Thanks,

In my IE10 the following problems have suddenly appeared:-

1) The arrows at top and bottom of V and H scroll bars have changed into hands. Clicking on them changes into a capital A with a circle over it.

2) The arrow that normally appears at right end of a an unopened drop down list has also changed into a hand.

3) Ticked boxes have a peculiar character in them instead of a tick.

What is going on?

Is there any event or API in which I can write my own start up page to display in new tab window/blank window ?  This is something like Chrome and Firefox browser, these browsers provides functionality to override new tab page from browser plugin.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

IE 10 Spell Check Stops Working

$

Reaching out to the community here.  Is there anyone else out there that had their spell checking stop working on the desktop version of IE 10 in Windows 8?  It works in the metro interface (who really cares right?) but not in desktop.  It also works logged in as a different user.  I went under my profile settings and ensured that both autocorrection and spell checking were switched to the on position but still no go.

Is this a known issue by chance?  Driving me just a little nuts.  Thanks!
