IE11 Enterprise Mode and the IIS Logging Website EmIE.asp (Log the Toggle)

I have successfully created Group Policies, and an IIS web service for IE11 Enterprise Mode Logging as per related TechNet articles.

The IE11 Enterprise Mode Logging feature appears to log the time I toggle Enterprise Mode; however, it doesn't record all the fields.... This is what the file looks like.

#Fields:date cs-uri-query cs-username c-ip

2014-12-16 - - 10.31.92.21
2014-12-16 - - 10.31.92.21

What am I missing? I assume, perhaps, I have misconfigured something on the IIS Web Service?

Here are the reference articles:

IE 11 always waiting for SharePoint Online

$

At seemingly random times throughout the day, some of our users will be unable to access OneDrive or SharePoint with IE 11.  It just continuously shows a white screen and "Waiting on <tenant>.sharepoint.com".  I've let it wait for 15 minutes and it never errors.  I can go to Exchange Online fine, but OneDrive and SharePoint both just sit there spinning.  When I click About Me, it also hangs.  This issue only affects IE and the only way I've found to resolve it is by rebooting the computer.  When IE is hanging, Firefox and Chrome successfully open to the site without issues.  Sometimes it happens once a day.  Other days it happens multiple times.

I've done a network trace with the F12 Debugging Tools, and IE never gets past the initial request for the page.  I've tried running "iexplore.exe -extoff" without succcess.  I've tried troubleshooting with Office 365, but they directed me here.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

IE 11 to run as IE7

Last week I deployed IE 11 to our entire enterprise. One department uses a cloud service from a vendor who ONLY supports IE7. In IE 11 compatibility mode the site throws some errors when inputting data. If we go to F12, emulation and select IE 7 the site works fine. Is there a way to force IE to always run that site in IE7 mode without having to leave the developer tools open at all times?

Before anyone says it.... I know the right answer is to get the vendor to bring their code up to date but they refuse so we are replacing them in March. I just need something to work until then.

Legacy App started working in IE 11 WITHOUT Enterprise Mode!

The IT department at one of our customers recently upgraded their entire company to IE 11 without warning. This should have broken most of the pages in our legacy Web Application because of the lack of support for IE8 in 'Compatibility View'. But in a GoToMeeting we showed our customer how to turn-on 'Compatibility View' so we could show her which of our pages were broken, BUT THEY WEREN'T!!!  The entire legacy app was working perfectly!

We spoke with the IT person who performed the upgrade to IE11, and he said he didn't do ANYTHING with respect to creating a Site List, or enabling Enterprise Mode -- and even shared his Group Policy settings file... Nothing!  When we went back and looked at her screen, our legacy app was working in IE11 WITHOUT the Enterprise Mode 'Building icon' to the left of the URL.

We are left to conclude that on 12/10/2015, he downloaded a version of IE11 thatnatively handles IE8-level compatibility, and we would to get us some of that! But I can't find it anywhere. Here are the version details:

Version: 11.0.9600.16428
Update Versions: RTM  (KB2841134)
Product ID: 00150-20000-00003-AA459

The next version of our Web App is fully IE 11/Edge ready, but it isn't finished yet. But the bits that ARE done work FINE in our customers new IE11, but when we use Enterprise Mode in our own versions of IE11 to 'fix' the legacy app, it breaks our NEW app. I might be able to fix this if I understood more about the Enterprise Mode Site List Manager, but it would be much easier if I had a version of IE11 that didn't need this! One that I could recommend to those of our customers who would like to run our new and old versions in parallel without any futzing about.

Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 10 issues

We have recently upgraded some desktops from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on our domain. .

We are experiencing issues with certain websites when you go back a webpage on the site you get "this page can't be displayed" withIE11 and Windows 10 that we do not get with IE11 on Windows 7.

Also, certain websites that prompt "would you like to store your password" actually do not store the password, even though autocomplete is set in the browser.

For that matter, the problems exist with Microsoft Edge also. With Firefox, the sites work fine.

I have verified by putting users in Active Directory Containers with no policies applied that I am not setting a Group Policy that is causing a problem.

Any suggestions?

NEW IE11 update causes IE11 hot keys to take precedence over matching Macro program hotkeys

$

I have 7 email accounts on our Exchange server for different business and personal roles.  I have always used OWA instead of Outlook to segregate accounts on my desktop.  For quick logins I have been using "Keyboard Express" Macro program  to insert USER and PASSWORD into OWA.   With some update applied in December 2015, Keyboard Express no long works on most of my Macro hotkeys because the IE hotkeys have taken precedence.  Such as ALT-H and other.

This same think happened to IE11 when I ran the Windows 10 upgrade 2 months ago, so I restored Win7 with a disk image to get rid of Window 10.

Is there a way to assign precedence between a Macro Program and IE11 Hotkeys ?

Skype for business presence indicators not showing in IE11 on Windows 10 Pro

Presence indicators display fine in IE11 on Win 7, but not in IE11 (or Edge) on Win 10, do however show in Outlook 2013 on Win 10. Applies to sites both in Intranet zone and trusted sites zone. Zones are managed through Group Policies. Compared IE settings between Win 7 and Win 10 machines - no differences.

Applies both to onsite SharePoint 2007 site and SharePoint 365 site.

Both machines joined to Domain and in the same OU.

How to change the type of “open file” prompt in Internet Explorer

$

I have a .Net web application that allows the user the open a Word document which is a macro-based report. This has worked well for years until recently. And now we are starting to have some issues with the opening of the Word doc.

I've determined that I currently have some PCs that work well, and some that don't. Here are the main differences:

Working:

  • When clicking on the file link, the IE11 browser shows a prompt on the center of the screen asking the user to "open, save or cancel". Similar to this:
     Good
  • When the user selects "Open", the word file is opened with a yellow message saying "Enable content".
  • When the user clicks on "Enable content", the macro executes and the data is filled correctly.

Not working:

  • When clicking on the file link, the IE11 browser shows a prompt on the bottom of the screen asking the user to "open, save or cancel". Like this:
     Fail
  • When the user selects "Open", the word file is opened with a yellow message saying "Enable edit".
  • When the user selects "Enable edit", there is a new yellow message saying "Enable content".
  • When the user clicks on "Enable content", the macro does not execute and/or has no data.

So my questions are, What's the difference in the IE11 setup and how do I change it?

Company policy is to use IE so I haven't even tested the behavior in other browsers because the website simply doesn't work well on them.

IEAK 11 configuration changes do not take effect

I am using IEAK 11 to make changes to IE 11. When i create the new installer, the changes do not take effect, or only take effect "sometimes". The only changes i am making are to the home page, and to not use existing page on upgrade. ini file lists the correct new home page, but when i start IE i get the old page. There are no gpo's in force, and users are allowed to change this page.

IE 11 64bit version will not open in windows 7 professional

$

IE 32 bit version works fine but the life of me I can't get IE 64 bit to work (It keeps coming up as the 32 bit

version per task manager
I have set Enable Enhanced Protection Mode (and rebooted)
Set use Software rendering instead of GPU Rendering (and rebooted)
I reset all advanced options to default
removed all add-ons
deleted all Internet Temporary files
Opened to About:blank as my home page
Turned Internet Explorer off in Program Options --> rebooted and turned it back on
Nothing works.

To be more specific about what I need to do.

I need to connect to my Cisco SA540 router to establish an SSL VPN connection.

First on Windows 64 bit machines using 32 bit IE I get a "browser is incompatible" error when I attempt to log

in.

I can log in using Fire Fox but nothing happens when I try to connect to the VPN (no errors, nothing)

I wrote a VB.net program (framework 3.5) add a Webbrower control. I can login to the router, when I connect to

the VPN I get a prompt to install the Cisco program, then I get the following error:

   Line250:   Char 1

   Error Obect required 'VPLaunch1'

   Code 0

   URL https://(my router IP)/scgi-bin/userPortal/sslvpnclient64?launch=true&ie64bit=true

It appears to be looking for a 64 bit program but since it is running as 32 bit it fails.

Please note, I have not run into this problem on other Windows 7 64 bit machines. I can run IE64 bit and run

the vb.net program and get by VPN connection.

Not sure if this is an issue but according to cisco installing Windows-2005 VC++ 64-bit version will help but when i attempt to install i get its not a valid 32 bit program? ?? this same program had installed fine on other window 7 64 bit systems I worked on.

There must be some other setting I am missing to get this machine to work.

Thanks

Please help.

Problem accessing SharePoint Site for some users

Hi,

So we have this puzzling issue.  We have an SharePoint site that works for some/most people but not everyone.

We are trying with IE11 (latest version).  We have also looked at trusted sites and compatibility view (they are the same for users that work and don't work).

For ones that it does not work, they seem to get this message when they browse to the webpage:

"Only secure content is displayed"

The issue they get is when they fill out a form (with a Captcha at the end) and try to submit it.  They get this message:

System Error: The Web application at <https://...> could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.

For those users with the issue, we have tried different browsers, Chrome, Firefox and Edge (for those with Windows 10).  The only one that it works with is Edge.

Now the strangest part is that if we open the website in Edge, and then from Edge open IE, we can submit that form correctly.

Does anyone know what the difference is between opening IE directly and opening IE from Edge?  Maybe that can help us figure out how to address this issue.

Thanks!

java plugin not working

I use internet explorer 11 on windows 10.

I have enabled the add-on java plugin 11.66.2,java plugin 1.8.0.31 and java plugin 11.66.2 (there are no other java plugins in the add-ons)

In the security settings tab I have enabled java applets

I have already several times downloaded and installed the new java version of java.com

When I do an online test (test site which test all the features of the browser) of my browser it says my java plugin is not available and it can not detect my java version.

When I use a site that uses java it returns the java.com to download the new version but downloading the new version is no solution.

The site browsercheck.qualys.com says after a scan that i have java plugin 1.0.8.64

How can I make my java plugin available?

IE 11 Crashes When Trying to Print

I have a user running Windows 8.1 on a Surface Pro 3.  IE 11 came pre-installed on the Surface.  Whenever she tries to print something from IE, it crashes instantly.  Event ID 1000 is logged in the Application log.  I can post that event information if needed, but it all seems to be a rather generic report that IE crashed.  The problem seems to be limited to her Windows profile.  Here are the things that I have tried:

  • Launched IE from an elevated command prompt.
  • Launched IE in x86 mode.
  • Ran the Troubleshooting applet in the Control Panel.
  • Internet Options > Advanced > Enabled the User software rendering instead of GPU rendering.
  • Clean boot (Problem still occurs).
  • Reset IE.

I did come across a similar thread on this forum that gave instructions for creating a crash dump file and posting it online.  I have created a crash dump file which you should be able to view at the below link.  However, I have no experience analyzing crash dump files, and a quick Google search yielded results which suggest that I would need to install some tools that I would most likely not be allowed to install on my work machine, so I am hoping someone can help with analysis of the file.

Add a program executable to the trusted zone

I have a home grown .net application that I am trying to run on a server.  Because it's a terminal/citrix server I want to keep the IE Enhanced Security Configuration turned on. However, when I run the .exe I get the warning from IE that tells me about:security_application.exe was blocked and needed to be added to the Trusted Zone.  There are lots of posts on this topic on the net but they all talk about websites, not apps. Anybody find a solution to this?

I just got a new computer and Microsoft Edge closes as soon as I open it. I tried to click on the ... in the corner to change the settings but it closes to fast for me to do anything else. Since it is a brand new computer, I haven't been able to download any other internet sources onto the computer. Any suggestions?
