I was wondering if there is any way to edit or deactivate/remove hotkeys in IE 11?
It is especially "ctrl+s" that is bothering me.

I am running IE 10. About a week ago, when I click on a link, it no longer changes color. I have not downloaded any new software (Add-Ons, Plug-Ins, etc) and am up to date on Windows Updates. This is now happening on all of our computers (2 PCs and 1 Laptop) running Windows 7 Home Premium. Under Tools, Internet Options, Colors, the Use Windows Colors is checked. Does anyone know what happened or how I can fix this problem?
Note: I have one Windows 10 Laptop running IE 11, and the visited links still change color.
Thank you, CJ Loos
Hi all,
I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.
UPDATE:
Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)
ENVIRONMENT:
IE version: 10.0.9200
Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)
Display Card: nVidia GTS 450
UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?
UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages,
not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.
UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.
UPDATE4:
A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.
Hi,
I'm using Windows 10 and I'm trying to configure it so that when I open a certain page in Microsoft Edge, it will detect show to open it in Internet Explorer. I'm trying to do this by using Enterprise Mode.
I read all the articles on TechNet and it seems to be configured properly, but it simply won't work! Here's what I did...I first used the Enterprise Site Tool to create my XML file, which looks like this:
<rules version="5">
<emie>
<domain exclude="false">helpdeskgeek.com</domain>
</emie>
<docMode>
<domain docMode="10">www.online-tech-tips.com</domain>
</docMode>
</rules>
Next, I went into the registry and change these two settings:
1. User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Use the Enterprise Mode IE website list
2. User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Microsoft Edge\Allow you to configure the Enterprise Site List
For both, I entered the local path to my XML file. Here is where I think something is wrong. This is the path I am using:
file:///c:\\Users\\Aseem\\Documents\\list.xml
When I type this into IE or Edge, it opens the file just fine, but like I said, when I visit the webpages in Edge, it just loads them normally. It does not give me a message to open the pages in IE.
What am I doing wrong? I restarted the computer and logged out of the user account after making the changes, but still no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Aseem
In IE 11, if you turn OFF "Load sites and content in the background to optimize performance", you will still see prefetch tasks in Task manager (Windows 8.1 in my case).
To reproduce. Turn off the preloading and prefetch option via Advance setting.
Make sure all iexplore.exe are gone from task manager.
Launch the first instance of IE 11.
Look in task manager and you will see tasks with IEXPLOERE.EXE SCODEF:13176 CREDAT:267521 /prefetch:2
Why do I care? Because after using IE 11 for some time, IE 11 will fail to correctly open new windows. Upon closing down all IE 11 windows, Task manager shows (in my case) 8 of these prefetch tasks and one regular iexplore.exe. After some time, Windows will shut these 9 tasks down, so it is fully aware that these are Phantom IE tasks.
Before you ask, I have ALL add-ins disabled.
Do others see this as well?
If I turn off preloading and prefetch, I should only see 1 iexplore instance when the first IE window opens.
I am trying to print a web form with images. Images are set with the use of <img> tags. Src of img tags have reference to different images in a server with https:// protocol. When I have loaded the form, i can see all images being load successfully. But when I printed the form it does not have those images with <img src="https://.... .jpg" />
I have tried setting up "print background colors and images" in print settings. But it didn't solve the issue. This is not happening in IE8. IE8 prints all images without even checking the print setting. IE9 does not seem to grab the image when it is being sent to print. I have also tested this with Chrome and Firefox. Both works fine.
I am not sure whether this is a bug with IE9. Some help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have a problem with IE11 when downloading *.tif files from an intranet server. When I click the link to download one of these files it opens sometimes and fails other times. I can try to download the same file 10 times in a row and it may fail 4/10 times and open the other 6 times. All other file types (pdf, docx, etc) download fine.
Now the odd thing is that the file I am trying to open is a *.tif but IE will say that *.tiff (yes, extra 'f') has been moved or deleted. If I close IE and reopen it and then view downloads, it now says *.TIF (all caps) has been moved or deleted. I believe that there is something in IE that is trying to download *.tiff files instead of *.tif so it can not find the file and gives me the error. The only odd thing is that it works some of the time.
This worked fine on IE8 and IE9 (never had IE10) but we recently upgraded to IE11 and now it is exhibiting this issue. If I use Google Chrome it works fine but we rely on IE for a lot of inhouse applications so other browsers are not an option. I am at a loss and looking for any insight.
Thank you.
Hello,
We have configured our firewall to enforce SafeSearch. Now, each user must manually configure SafeSearch. Is there a way that I can have IE already configured with SafeSearch enabled for Google, Yahoo, and/or Bing? I installed Google Chrome and there are GP templates which redirect google.com to https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl&safe=active&ssui=on without having to enable SafeSearch in preferences. Does IE have anything like that?
As of about a week ago, all of my ASP.Net Chart Controls stopped showing their tooltips in IE11. The tool tips display in other browsers and other versions of IE. Has anyone else seen and resolved this? I am wondering what else if Microsoft has fckuped in IE 11

We've recently updated to IE11 everywhere and I've noticed a very odd (and potentially worrying) problem.
We have AppLocker policies that prevent the running of EXE files from anywhere but certain locations on user's workstations. Non-admin Users certainly CANNOT run executables from their DOWNLOADS folder for example.
However, when IE11 downloads a file (say the PUTTY.EXE from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.htm) it gives you the option to RUN or SAVE it. If a user selects RUN, the executable will, in fact, run! IE11 does not save the EXE in the Downloads folder first nor does it appear to save it anywhere else that we can see. Perhaps it puts it in a temporary file/folder somewhere?
If the user selects SAVE instead of RUN the file is saved in the Downloads folder and then the AppLocker policies take effect and the user is prevented from running the EXE
So - what gives? Does IE11 allowing the execution of downloaded executables without saving them first?
Hello,
we are using IE11 with enhanced protected mode and we have Office 2010 Profesisional installed on our computers.
As a result of the enhanced protected mode some Sharepoint controls are not working any more (like the typical namectrl class). For our own internal sharepoint we just disabled the protected mode in the intranet zone. But we do not want to do this for external sharepoint sites. Is it possible to just not display the message popup at the bottom of the IE windows? Ist there any GPO setting fo rit?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
I would like to remove domains that are added compatibility view via registry key / GPO. I'm going to disable compatibility view to Authenticated users. Q is in my testing found that if we disable compatibility view option existing domains that added will be there and we do have option to remove after implementation of GPO.

Hi Everyone,
We have successfully deployed Enterprise mode for IE11 on Windows 7 machines using group policy and pointing it an UNC path. However, when we try to add new URLs to the file and try to save it, we get an error saying the file is being used. There are always active connections to that file.
To get it to work, we need to stop sharing the file, write to the file and start the sharing again.
Is this how we manage the file? I am sure there must be a better way than stop sharing the file. Can someone please help us with this?
Thanks

Hi,
I have a old CRM system that must be run in Enterprise mode (it will be upgraded soon). The sitelist works fine through group policy, however the CRM is running on port :5555 how do I specify in the sitelist so the Enterprise mode start also on this port?
I have added the site to xml file but site list manager removes port number from url. The sites.xml file looks like this:
<rules version="9">
<emie>
<domain exclude="false">crm<path exclude="false">/company</path></domain>
</emie>
</rules>
Now if I visit the site http://crm (which only contain IIS splash page), enterprise mode is enabled. However if I visit the real site on port 5555: http://crm:5555/ Enterprise mode is NOT on.
How can I make sitelist to force IE11 in enterprise mode on a different/specified port (or all ports) for a domain?
Hi,
I work for a software development company. Our clients access our solution via a secured website. After installing IE11, several of our clients have complained about receiving a pop up message that states: "The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the tab. Do you want to close this tab?". We found that having users Reset their Internet Explorer settings resolves this issue, but we don't want to have thousands of users have to reset their IE settings.
Is there a way we can prevent this from happening to our clients?
Thanks,
Mike
