IEAK11 customisations in FLAT msi file

Hi. I was wondering if somebody to advise me whether customisations created in IEAK 11 are stored within the msi file within the FLAT folder, or whether they are only applied by use of the ins file in the INS folder? I haven't many customisations but I was hoping to apply changes to the search providers without having to apply an ins file.

Thanks

IE11 Enterprise Mode - sites.xml file continually locked, unable to be edited

As the title states, we're having issues with the our sites.xml file being locked somehow, preventing anyone from actually editing the file to make changes. The file is located on a network share, and we've nearly exhaust efforts in attempting to figure out what exactly is locking this file. It's not the virus scanner, and it doesn't appear to be the clients (nothing is attempting to open the file with write access, as far as we can tell).

Has anyone encountered anything like this before with IEEM? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

Hello ,

I have IE 11 running under WIN10  when I launch it....it defaults to Bing

I have specified MSN.COM  as my homepage  and have verified that it is listed in the homepage setting  window

but the other 2  radio buttons selections are gray's out and one of those is the "Start with Homepage" which is not selected

I am  guessing that I would need to be able to access these 2 selections so I can switch them so the Start with homepage selettion is selectable with its associated radio button...

How do I get this resolved so I don't start my exporer session out in "BINGLAND"

Enterprise Mode Site List not working. Site is showing up in Document Mode 5 instead of Document Mode 8

We have a corporate Enterprise with IE11 on Windows 7. We are using Enterprise Mode instead of "open intranet sites in compatibility view" which is now unchecked.

We want sites to open in IE 8 Document Mode instead of the Edge Default which occurs when we uncheck the intranet site compatibility view.

We have the XML and Enterprise Mode Enabled and it is processing BUT the sites are changing from Edge to Document Mode 5 instead of 8?

I have tried ALL the document modes and even IE 8 Emulation and it doesn't matter which one we set, the sites are going to Document Mode 5, with the exception of Livemeeting.com which is opening in IE 8 Document Mode as it should.

Now we can set it manually in IE using the Emulation but it does not last the session.

<rules version="1">
  <docMode>
    <domain docMode="8">subdir1.mydomain.com</domain>
    <domain docMode="8">subdir2.mydomain.com</domain>
    <domain docMode="8">subdir3.mydomain.com</domain>
    <domain docMode="8">livemeeting.com</domain>
  </docMode>
< /rules>

The sites themselves have a DocType in them.

<!DOCTYPEHTMLPUBLIC"-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

<htmldir="ltr"lang="en">

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these sites to stop opening in IE 5 mode? In IE 8 they opened in IE7 mode with compatibility for intranet checked.

Windows security dialog box for secure sites is empty - no user name and password fields are visible

I am a helpdesk tech for a large company and we having an issue with IE 8+ on win7 32bit.

Anytime a user goes to a secure site that requires authentication, the windows security dialog box pops up waiting for credentials, but it is impossible to enter them because the user name and password fields are not showing in the box.

Resetting IE has no effect.  Changing security levels  for different zones also has no effect.  We have added multiple sites to our trusted lists and still no results.  These site all perform normally in Firefox and Chrome but those browsers are not an option for our users.

This problem is also present in IE 9 beta.
I have even tried to completely remove IE and reinstall it but still get no results.

I have seen 2 other threads about this issue, neither of them have resolutions.  One on technet has some detailed info on the exact same issue, but has no answer and was started last year.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itprovistaie/thread/4d1714cd-8e8b-483d-a3de-383c3ef9e86b

The other is on this forum, also with no answer.

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/45d4db20-61d5-49a7-88ee-14d35309138b

here is a screen shot of the problem in action.

Please keep in mind that this is just one example and that the problem occurs when visiting ANY site with authentication.

We have tried to reset the security zones to defaults but that does no good.

I will be happy to provide any further info that is needed.

Thanks for your help!

Windows 7 SP1 IE9 to IE11 upgrade, incorrect shortcuts

$

Hello,

We have over 1000 Windows 7 SP1 64bit machines that we are going to be pushing out IE11 to. I've created a custom IE installer for IE11 and have it setup in SCCM for deployment.

Before the IE11 upgrade, the client PCs have the default shortcuts for IE9 (both an "internet explorer" and "internet explorer 64-bit".

Once the IE11 upgrade runs and is finished, these shortcuts have been replaced by a single "internet explorer" shortcut. BUT it points to the 64bit version of IE11!  Is there something that can be changed within the install package to prevent this? Why is this happening?

We cannot have end users using 64bit IE11.

Thanks

IE 11 does not start after Update KB3087038 - IE just open and close itself after a few seconds (on first start only)

Hello,

we are experiencing the problem that after our Windows 7 clients got updated with KB3087038 that after a user is logging in (we are using mandatory profiles), Internet Explorer 11 is not starting the first time a user is clicking on the IE11 link.

Starting IE 11 shows the IE window with the loading circle in front of the IE window, just to close immediately after a few seconds. This is happening irregular, not on every first start of Internet Explorer.

On subsequent starts of IE11 within thesame user session IE is starting without a problem.

It took us several days to enclose the problem.
As our clients get their updates at different times (depending on their group membership) we saw this behavior on each client after update KB3087038 was installed (source: internal WSUS server).

Our systems:
- Domain based network
- W2K8 R2 SP1 Servers
- Windows 7 SP1 x64 clients
- Office 2010
- IE 11
- Mandatory profiles
- Proxy Server - Internet traffic filtered by an proxy server.

Thank you in advance.

how to download win 8.1

I had tried to download win 10 and 3 times it failed so i gave up, each time my computer reverted back to 8.1 "out of the box rollback"

I thought i would update nividea, after that the graphics were contrasted very bright so i did a system restore.

On logging back into the computer it booted up ok, and i logged in , went to start page , but if i click on any tiles the screen goes black, i cannot access anything.

So my problem is, i went to

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

to create installation media for 8.1

I put in a 32 GB USB  and clicked  CREATE MEDIA

I assumed i would get a win 8.1 download, what was downloaded was

mediacreationtool    application  1,449KB

Can someone advise if that is what i am supposed to get or a win 8.1 download.

I will be using the USB on boot up because there is no other way i can install win 8

How to force Internet Explorer 11 reinstallation after failure (detection issue)?

$

Hi,

I got a problem with the Internet Explorer 11 installation I received through Windows Update. It is on aWindows 7 x64 SP1 computer.

The installation failed, and Internet Explorer 11 doesn't appear under the Show Installed Updates section of Programs and Features.

Because of that, Windows Update tries to re-run the update, but keeps failing everytime.

My first idea was to download the IE 11 installer for Windows 7 x64 from Download Center and launch it; it fails with the error message "A more recent version of Internet Explorer is already installed".

When launching IE, effectively, the version is 11.0, but if I try to install an update for IE, like an IE 11 language pack or just a security update, it fails saying it doesn't apply to this system.

So basically, the IE installer detection logic says IE 11 is installed, while Windows Update says it is not, as for other updates related to IE 11. I have a tendency to believe Windows Update since it doesn't appear in Show Installed Updates.

I tried removing the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer registry key and its equivalent under SYSWOW64, no result. I also deleted the iexplore.exe file under Program Files\Internet Explorer and Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer, no result. Removing those files is not easy since you have to take ownership on each of them because of the default permissions that are very tight.

Does someone knows the detection logic of the IE 11 installer and tell me what I must do to force it to run and reinstall everything? Or someone who got the same issue and was able to recover from it?

I repeat, no need to tell me that I must remove it from Installed Updates under Programs and Features first, it is not there and this is probably why Windows Update tries to reinstall it every time.

Tnx for help

Patrick

Problem with Cross Domain cookies only occuring in IE, works in Firefox & Chrome

When Thinktecture Identity Server Signout page issues wa=wsignout1.0 command to Sharepoint2013 the sharepoint cookie is not sent and therefore not destroyed. This happens using IE 11 but works fine with Chrome and Firefox.

The signout page contains an iframe for each RP, I tried changing the iframes for <Img> tags instead, but still fails.

Any ideas?

Cannot open Office documents (pdf ok) stored on SharePoint using IE 11

I have not found through extensive searching any situations like mine.  This problem started some months ago and since then I have tried to find a solution but nothing at all changes the situation. I am using Windows 10 and SharePoint to access my Office 2013 documents.   It doesn't matter if I am accessing SharePoint 2010 or SharePoint 2013.  It doesn't matter which user I login with.  The result is always the same.   When I try to open a Word or Excel file (pdf is fine) using IE (my version is 11) then it tries to open the file but then just opens the application as if I am starting a new file.  There is no error message.  It simply tries to open the file and fails.  so it defaults to the Application to let me start creating a new document/file.

I was using Office 2013 64 bit but recently uninstalled that and installed 32 bit in the hope this might be the problem but it isn't.  I have also installed all recent updates for Office.  the result is always the same.  The file will not open when accessed via IE on SharePoint.  I must use FireFox or chrome.

I have sorted the compatibility and trusted sites.  I have searched the entire internet for 2 months now and tried everything.  The problem is related to my specific laptop as I have no problem on another computer.  My laptop and Internet Explorer 11 are blocking files on SharePoint.  No error message.  If anyone figures this out they are a genius because right now I have given up and am just using Firefox.

Internet Explorer 11 is already installed but the tick under Windows Features isn't set

Hello everybody,

my problem started with installing updates on a Windows 7 Professional x64 System. After installing most of the updates there had been installed Internet Explorer 11. But then Windows Update wanted to install the package again.

When installing IE11 over Windows Update again it put out the error Code 9c48.

I wanted to fix this by manually uninstalling the Update but unter the Windows Features window the tick beside IE11 wasn't set.

The funny thing is that I can start IE11 and if I check the version under the info of the IE11 it displays a correct Version (11.0.9600.16428 and KB2841134). Under Installed Updates the KB2841134 isn't shown.

Also I tried to manually remove packages with the following command:

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

But after that I didn't have installed IE at all and couldn't install Version 11 or below. With the System recovery I switched on the state before uninstalling.

In the update history I can see after scrolling a little that IE11 was successfully installed.

Forcing Google SafeSearch

Hello,

We have configured our firewall to enforce SafeSearch.  Now, each user must manually configure SafeSearch.  Is there a way that I can have IE already configured with SafeSearch enabled for Google, Yahoo, and/or Bing?  I installed Google Chrome and there are GP templates which redirect google.com to   https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl&safe=active&ssui=on without having to enable SafeSearch in preferences.  Does IE have anything like that?
