Hi,

We have a requirement to deploy IE 11 on all the Desktop/Laptop silently.

We are using /Q command for installation but in this command UI is coming. Moreover no other silent installation switch is working.

Please suggest how can we deploy IE silently without any user intervention

Outlook 2010 only opens urls in a new window in IE 11 on WIndows 10, instead of a new tab as set

When an URL is clicked from within an email in Outlook, the webpage opens in a new browser window, even though IE is set to open in new tabs.

We are on a domain, and using IE for compatibility with legacy web applications being run in the organisation.

Has anybody else seen this issue and found a resolution

This is what I found when trying to troubleshoot so far :

Get-WindowsUpdateLog

If you run this powershell command it will put the windowsupdate.log file on your desktop and this is what I see :

2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256937 740   13920 ComApi          *RESUMED* Download ClientId = UpdateOrchestrator
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256947 740   13920 ComApi          Download call complete (succeeded = 0, succeeded with errors = 0, failed = 1, unaccounted = 0)
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256962 740   13920 ComApi          Exit code = 0x00000000; Call error code = 0x80240022
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256962 740   13920 ComApi          * END *   Download ClientId = UpdateOrchestrator
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9259147 740   13492 ComApi          ISusInternal:: DisconnectCall failed, hr=8024000C

Which makes no sense except to say this error 0x80240022 is referring to my firewall being enabled

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/ja-JP/3ef30c74-490c-47d8-90ce-b21f9b8ddce6/windows-update-returns-error-0x80240022-unless-firewall-switched-off?forum=w7itprogeneral

Anybody else shed light on why this is happening to my Windows 10 machines I would be grateful for the help

My next troubleshooting step is to look at my Adobe Flash version and my video card driver settings ????

IE11 Enterprise Mode site list not working

I've configured the Enterprise Mode site list as directed in the following article

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn640696.aspx

and set up the gpo to point to my site.  I've confirmed in my site's logs that the xml file is accessible.

However, it isn't working; none of the sites are launching in enterprise mode.  I notice that the CurrentVersion key in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode has remained at 1 and is not updating.  I'm assuming that is the problem, but I can't figure out why it won't update.

Any advice?

IE 11 doesn't render file type extension when downloading zip files via an Apache layer.

Hi All,

In IE9 or IE11, when I try to download a .zip file it downloads fine but is not getting recognized by WinRAR. There is no extension and Windows doesn't know what to do with this. The same file gets downloaded fine and is recognized if downloaded from Chrome or Firefox.

I want to know what settings in IE(if any) might be causing this?

It is important there are many systems on IE and can't immediately shift to any alternate browser.

When downloaded from Firefox this file recognizes its original extension;

The same file when downloaded from IE 11 doesn't recognize its Extension.

The same behavior occurs for any file downloaded from any source.

I have narrowed it down and found that it is because we are downloading it via an Apache layer. If I try the same download via a localhost (no Apache layer), it gets downloaded easily.

Please advise.

I'm using IE 10.

I'd like to disable the prompt "Open, Save or Save as". Each time I tried to any document (ex. DOC or PDF file), IE will popup the follow prompt: "What do you want to do with ..."

I saw there are some similar threads, but they are particular for SharePoint.

Thank you!

COM object embedded in html file using Internet Explorer not loading properly

Hi,

We have a COM dll which when embedded in html file and ran on Internet Explorer (Windows 7) was working fine. We were able to make call to the APIs exposed by the COM dll.

But recently, we installed the windows updates namely KB3074886 andKB3065822.

After this, whenever we are accessing the API's of this COM dll, we are getting an error "SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support this property or method: ".  So we tried uninstalling the above two updates and saw that we were able to access the APIs of the COM dll perfectly fine. Only when these updates are installed we are facing the above said error.

Can someone assist us in what may be going wrong here. It will be very helpful for us as it is important for us to run with this updates installed in our system.

Thanks in Advance,

Satya.

Adding a 'tile or website' to the 'Frequent' tab in IE11

Good day,

Today I received a call from a colleague who has lost her Google 'tile' and she wondered if there was a way to add websites to the Frequent tab.

I would recommend using the favourites bar instead of leaning onto the Frequent tab (as those tiles are inherent to change).

So is it possible to add a website to a tile in the Frequent tab?

Need help configuring IE 10 via GPO

Hello,

I'm trying to get help with creating a GPO for IE10 settings on our Citrix servers.

I'm going to update all servers to IE 10 and afterwards  I want to apply a GPO for the IE settings.

I'm having troubles finding the correct features to change and hoping someone could help.

In the GPO, Can someone point out where I can find the following features?

1.) Set home page

2.) Browsing history Disk space to use  need to be set to 10

3.) Uncheck pop up blocker

4.) add a site(s) to the trusted sites

5.) Under trusted sites, custom level, I will need the "automatically logon with current username and password" checked off and then reset custom settings to low.

Is this possible?

Thanks,

I have IE11 loaded in Windows 7. Whenever IE11 is launched it goes to the correct site and then I get a DEP message and IE11 closes.  How can I turn the DEP off? I do not see this in IE11 options. Need relatively simple instructions not involving code, etc.

Internet Explorer stopped working!!!

I am writing regarding my husbands computer which runs Internet Explorer as his search engine, and it keeps stopping.  Obviously he can't go online because of it and I've been trying to figure out a way to fix it.  The search for solutions box never comes up with any solutions!!  This is very frustrating to say the least.  It all started on October 25th I believe, until then everything worked properly.  I've done a complete computer scan, with no problems showing.  If I restore his system to Oct. 24th, it works for about 10 minutes, then stops working again.   I am writing from my computer searching for help.  Hope you can give me some suggestions or reasons why this is happening.

Thanks.....

"SCRIPT5: Access is denied" error when accessing web sites using LocalStorage

$

We are having an issue with Internet Explorer 10 affecting users on a number of our Windows 8 workstations. When a user visits a web site that uses the Local Storage feature of HTML5, the page is not displayed correctly. For example, if you visit this page:

http://jsfiddle.net/xFtQR/

You should see text in the grey boxes in the lower-right hand corner if everything is working. For the affected users, nothing is displayed. In addition, if you open the F12 Developer Tools and reload the page, the following error message is displayed: "SCRIPT5: Access is denied.". It appears the LocalStorage feature is broken for these users.

From the troubleshooting I've done so far, I've determined that this issue does not affect the Local Administrator account on these computers, but it does affect any domain user and any new local user I create, whether the local user is in the Administrators group or not. This leads me to believe the issue may be related to the default user profile in the image that was applied to these computers.

Other observations:

  • Performing a complete reset of Internet Explorer settings (from Tools > Internet Options... > Advanced) does not resolve the issue
  • These sites do work correctly after turning off Protected Mode for the Internet Zone (from Tools > Internet Options... > Security)
  • These sites also work correctly when InPrivate Browsing is turned on

I've tried using Process Monitor to determine whether access is being blocked to a folder. On a working computer, iexplore.exe creates a file within a folder at C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore. I can't see anything on an affected computer that would prevent IE from creating this folder, as the security settings on the folder all appear to be correct.

The location of this folder appears to be stored in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\LowCache\Extensible Cache\DOMStore. I've tried copying this key from a working computer and blanking it out entirely to have IE recreate it, but neither resolved the issue. I've even gone as far as to try and compare an export of the registry from the default user profile from a working system and an affected system but I haven't been able to pinpoint any differences which I thought might be relevant.

I've tried the "Internet Explorer Performance" and "Internet Explorer Safety" troubleshooters in the Control Panel.

Here are some links to articles on other sites which make reference to the same (or a similar) issue:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie10-windows_7/ie10-script5-access-is-denied/e87bdb30-7f2a-4510-bfa3-a22b995f777b
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/357825-ie10-script5-access-is-denied
https://github.com/meteor/meteor/issues/1291

Unlike these other cases, deleting an affected user's profile does not resolve the issue (further bolstering my theory that the issue is due to an issue in the default profile in my case).

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide!
