404 error when trying to access download page for kb/3099406

I  can't reach the download page for Windows 8.0 Pro for KB 3099406 x64.

I can reach a download page for Flash Player update for IE for x32 and also for Windows 8.1 Pro x64 but I don't need those.

I need the download for 8.0 Pro x64.  I have tried repeatedly all day and for a long time I was getting the main Microsoft support page when I would click on the download link.  Now I am getting a 404 error instead.

Is Microsoft aware of this problem?

IE11 Enterprise Mode, how to verify it's working?

$

hey all,

i'm testing enterprise mode in IE11 for deployment to our users, enabling via domain GPO.

my results have been hit and miss.. one site shows the enterprise mode icon in the address bar, while a simple test like google.ca does not.

is the address bar icon the only way to verify that enterprise mode is enabled?  i checked my registry and the CURRENT_USER key noted in the instructions below is set, pointing to the XML file that i set in the domain GPO (the LOCAL_MACHINE key was not set), so i'm assuming that my computer is applying the GPO?

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/dn640699.aspx

should enterprise mode get enabled for every site saved in the site list, regardless of how enterprise mode handles/renders the site?  just trying to figure out if it's working with each site even when i don't see the address bar icon.

many thanks!

I am getting the error message "This page can’t be displayed" when attempting to use a hyperlink from with Word or Excel (haven't tried other Office apps). The link is to a mht file stored on SharePoint which contains bookmarks.

I used the Insert hyperlink dialog, selected browsed pages, selected the mht's url, clicked bookmark button and selected the bookmark.

The hyperlink created is:

http://ent243.sharepoint.xxx.com/teams/newbusfinance/xyz/Guidelines/xyz_guidelines.mht#NonHPEPresence

But clicking on the hyperlink displays error page: This page can’t be displayed

and the URL changes to:

mhtml:http://ent243.sharepoint.xxx.com/teams/newbusfinance/xyz/Guidelines/xyz_guidelines.mht - NonHPEPresence

Notice the addition of "mhtml:" at the start and the changing of the # to " - " prior to the bookmark.

Internet Explorer is version 11 and Office is 2013.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Using someone elses computer.

Preserving Compatibility View Settings Upgrading to IE11

Hi All,

I am in the process of upgrading Win7 64bit PCs with IE10 (and a few IE8) to IE11 - they seem to lose their compatibility view sites when they are upgraded - is there a way of preserving these site preferences so they still work in IE11?

Thanks

Microsoft Update Catalog problems

Is anyone else having problems clicking on the browse button after being UAC'd when attempting to download a file from the Catalog?

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/DownloadInformation.aspx

In addition, even if UAC works, I get a cryptic proxy prompt asking me to enter my credentials to the "proxy-server."

I can't be the only one experience this. This is with Internet Explorer 8.x.

Has anybody else seen this issue and found a resolution

This is what I found when trying to troubleshoot so far :

Get-WindowsUpdateLog

If you run this powershell command it will put the windowsupdate.log file on your desktop and this is what I see :

2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256937 740   13920 ComApi          *RESUMED* Download ClientId = UpdateOrchestrator
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256947 740   13920 ComApi          Download call complete (succeeded = 0, succeeded with errors = 0, failed = 1, unaccounted = 0)
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256962 740   13920 ComApi          Exit code = 0x00000000; Call error code = 0x80240022
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9256962 740   13920 ComApi          * END *   Download ClientId = UpdateOrchestrator
2015/09/21 14:10:24.9259147 740   13492 ComApi          ISusInternal:: DisconnectCall failed, hr=8024000C

Which makes no sense except to say this error 0x80240022 is referring to my firewall being enabled

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/ja-JP/3ef30c74-490c-47d8-90ce-b21f9b8ddce6/windows-update-returns-error-0x80240022-unless-firewall-switched-off?forum=w7itprogeneral

Anybody else shed light on why this is happening to my Windows 10 machines I would be grateful for the help

My next troubleshooting step is to look at my Adobe Flash version and my video card driver settings ????

IE11 Default Paper Size When Printing To Other Than Windows Default.

$

I have 2 printers on my PC. 1 is a receipt printer with 58mm wide paper. The other is an HP1410 with letter size paper. The receipt printer is set as the default printer since it is used most. But sometimes I need to do a print of the web page used for the Point Of Sale. When I select the HP printer for the output, the page is printed but only 58mm wide instead of letter size. Likewise if I set the HP1310 as the default printer, then when I select the receipt printer as the output, it tries to print letter size. IE does not appear to change the paper size when a printer other than the default is selected. It ALWAYS uses the paper size of the default printer irregardless of the printer selected for output.

Note that Chrome works correctly and will adjust the page size to the default for whichever printer is selected but IE will not

Also note that NotePad has the same issue.I haven't tested with edge but then it won't support Activex either.

I am limited to using IE because the credit card scanner used with the receipt printer requires Activex support. My only workaround now is to switch to using Chrome whenever I need to print to any printer other than the Windows default printer. There was a similar old issue "IE7 Default Paper Size" that never really had a resolution. It reported a similar issue between printers with Letter and A4 paper sizes. Any help would be appreciated.

Possible Values for the "flags" entry HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings\Zones\1

Hello Everyone,

I am using ie11 on win7 in a Domain. Does anyone know of a complete list of the possible values the flags entry (see title) can have? The Internet describes it as a bitmask but according to

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/182569

the highest possible value should be 255. I have already seen higher values though (for example 323) and I am not the only one :

Compatibility View Sites GPO

$

We currently have a GPO deployed which has many websites listed under compatibility view sites.  In this GPO, we have "Include updated website lists from Microsoft:  Enabled", "Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for local intranet:  Enabled", and "Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites:  Enabled"...as well as many sites listed under there.

The issue is, when sites are added to the list, it takes the domain name of the site (ex:  citrix.abc.com), the only way for this to apply in a GPO is to add "abc.com" to the list.  However, this in turn affects all sites that end in abc.com, where we have other sites like mail.abc.com we do not want listed in compatibility view.

Is there a way around this?  If I add citrix.abc.com, compatibility view doesn't recognize it unless abc.com is listed.

The only way around this I can think of is to move the systems to a sub OU and not have that GPO apply to it.

Our end clients are currently Windows 7 with IE9 (upgrading to IE11 shortly).

IE Enhanced Security and about:* pages

I understand the need for Internet Explorer Enhanced Security and do not care to turn it off on my Windows 2008 servers.    But when applications that use IE for help and reporting open and close IE windows, Internet Explorer 8 and 9 give popups that "about:internet" (and other about:* and res:* locations that come from IE itself) are being blocked by IE Enhanced Security.   It's not possible to add about:* and res:* to Local Intranet through the security zones dialog because they want a real URL with http:// or https:// at the beginning.

IE is blocking an internal notification page it decided to display without anyone asking for it. That's just silly.  Does anyone have a way around this without turning off Enhanced Security?

Yeah, it's just an annoyance. But it's a big annoyance.

Hi,

I troubleshooting this "an ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page." This is not an error by itself but... I troubleshooting why you cant open an .doc fil from a intranet with word. 1. You go to an Intranet page with your IE8/IE9. 2. You click on an .doc file. 3. you got this massage "an ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page." 4. you have Yes and No option 5. You click yes. 6. a white small IE window open. 7 the .doc file was expected to open.

Human-Readable Enterprise Mode Site List format?

$

0

We maintain a large Enterprise Mode Site List in XML and have hundreds of web developers and site stakeholders who need to be able to review the file to see what it contains. But it's in XML format and it's not clear for the average user how to interpret it or understand how the XML code translates into different modes of emulation.

Has anyone worked out a parsing for the XML file to put it into a human-readable format so that it is clear which sites or pages are in Enterprise Mode, and which mode of emulation they are in?

HTA using XMLHttpRequest calling https URL fails with WinINET code 12004

$

Hoping somebody has seen this type of issue or knows how to resolve.

I have a local HTA application that already makes https call to URL 1. For new project I added another https call to URL 2. The URL 2 call works for http but fails with https with error code 12004. The error code tells me nothing about what the issue might be.

Oddly enough, if I try the same https call using SoapUI the call works; if I run Fiddler and then try my HTA, the https call then starts working.

I have checked everything I can think of on my local machine, IE settings, latest windows updates, etc but nothing fixes the issue. On other machines that have IE8 the error code is 12019.

Thanks,
Dave

Problem with Cross Domain cookies only occuring in IE, works in Firefox & Chrome

When Thinktecture Identity Server Signout page issues wa=wsignout1.0 command to Sharepoint2013 the sharepoint cookie is not sent and therefore not destroyed. This happens using IE 11 but works fine with Chrome and Firefox.

The signout page contains an iframe for each RP, I tried changing the iframes for <Img> tags instead, but still fails.

Any ideas?

IE 11 does not start after Update KB3087038 - IE just open and close itself after a few seconds (on first start only)

$

Hello,

we are experiencing the problem that after our Windows 7 clients got updated with KB3087038 that after a user is logging in (we are using mandatory profiles), Internet Explorer 11 is not starting the first time a user is clicking on the IE11 link.

Starting IE 11 shows the IE window with the loading circle in front of the IE window, just to close immediately after a few seconds. This is happening irregular, not on every first start of Internet Explorer.

On subsequent starts of IE11 within thesame user session IE is starting without a problem.

It took us several days to enclose the problem.
As our clients get their updates at different times (depending on their group membership) we saw this behavior on each client after update KB3087038 was installed (source: internal WSUS server).

Our systems:
- Domain based network
- W2K8 R2 SP1 Servers
- Windows 7 SP1 x64 clients
- Office 2010
- IE 11
- Mandatory profiles
- Proxy Server - Internet traffic filtered by an proxy server.

Thank you in advance.
