We are having an issue with Internet Explorer 10 affecting users on a number of our Windows 8 workstations. When a user visits a web site that uses the Local Storage feature of HTML5, the page is not displayed correctly. For example, if you visit this page:
You should see text in the grey boxes in the lower-right hand corner if everything is working. For the affected users, nothing is displayed. In addition, if you open the F12 Developer Tools and reload the page, the following error message is displayed: "SCRIPT5: Access is denied.". It appears the LocalStorage feature is broken for these users.
From the troubleshooting I've done so far, I've determined that this issue does not affect the Local Administrator account on these computers, but it does affect any domain user and any new local user I create, whether the local user is in the Administrators group or not. This leads me to believe the issue may be related to the default user profile in the image that was applied to these computers.
Other observations:
I've tried using Process Monitor to determine whether access is being blocked to a folder. On a working computer, iexplore.exe creates a file within a folder at C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore. I can't see anything on an affected computer that would prevent IE from creating this folder, as the security settings on the folder all appear to be correct.
The location of this folder appears to be stored in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\LowCache\Extensible Cache\DOMStore. I've tried copying this key from a working computer and blanking it out entirely to have IE recreate it, but neither resolved the issue. I've even gone as far as to try and compare an export of the registry from the default user profile from a working system and an affected system but I haven't been able to pinpoint any differences which I thought might be relevant.
I've tried the "Internet Explorer Performance" and "Internet Explorer Safety" troubleshooters in the Control Panel.
Here are some links to articles on other sites which make reference to the same (or a similar) issue:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie10-windows_7/ie10-script5-access-is-denied/e87bdb30-7f2a-4510-bfa3-a22b995f777b
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/357825-ie10-script5-access-is-denied
https://github.com/meteor/meteor/issues/1291
Unlike these other cases, deleting an affected user's profile does not resolve the issue (further bolstering my theory that the issue is due to an issue in the default profile in my case).
Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide!
Hi,
Since a few days back a strange problem started ocurring for some users in our domain. Some have IE9 others like me have IE11. Problem is that IE can't browse Internet pages (it just keep loading with the white screen) when Protected mode is ON. Previously there was no problem with this. Other browsers don't have this issue. OS in the company is Win7.
Thank you.
Leo.
All,
We are running into an issue, where we see that the "print" button as available on the Microsoft Reporting Server site does not work on our Windows 7/8.1 systems. When pressing the button, a popup appears with the message "Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled, or try using Internet Explorer for the desktop."
I have added the site to trusted sites, and allowed download and run of signed ActiveX controls, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155874(v=sql.110).aspx ).
I have configured the ActiveX Installer service, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631688(v=ws.10).aspx). After that action I see in the eventlog the following:
The ActiveX control http://server/Reports/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ReportSession=ao4hl1rhljvuac45oppnij55&Culture=1043&CultureOverrides=False&UICulture=9&UICultureOverrides=False&ReportStack=1&ControlID=e667391f2e7b4fa48db718cdfe60e61c&OpType=PrintCab&Arch=X86 from host URL http://mesbrouwen passed all policy checks.
....seems like the ActiveX object is marked as "ok"... but even then the file is not installed. Looking at a Process Monitor dump, I see the cab-file (RSClientPrint-x86.cab) is downloaded, but never reaches "Windows\Downloaded Program Files".
I would like to avoid having to deploy the component using a package. Does anyone have an idea? (googling around didn't provide me any answers that work for me -> which where the options mentioned above)
Help is greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Sjoerd
Hello - I have a user that is trying to select Enterprise mode but it never enables Enterprise mode and the check never shows up next to Enterprise mode. If I logon with a different user it works fine so it looks to be the users profile. Before I recreate the user profile I was hoping somebody else as come across a better solution.
Thank you
So In all my searching I can't really find a workaround for this. I have a domain and plenty of domain users but I have one department that remains local user accounts. All I want to do is set the default homepage for these 47 domain connected machines.
So with domain users I can use loopback policy to apply the user gpo settings to any computer in those specific OU's. But that simply will not apply to local accounts. Any other thoughts on how to make this work centrally? Not super interested in doing one by one.
thanks in advance.
Edit: I did try pushing a registry setting via the computer config but doesn't seem to be taking.

Trying to download KB3081444. Only options offered are microsoft.com/downloads, which doesn't have it, and the Microsoft Update Catalog site.
I went there with Edge (I'm running Win 10) but it told me to use IE. Once at the page, I keep getting told that "this web site wants to add the following add-on: "Microsoft Update Catalog" from "Microsoft Corporation." (Are there quotes because IE doesn't believe it's really Microsoft? Or is it just being sarcastic? Hard to tell sometimes. :-) )
Anyway, I always click "Install," but nothing happens. F12 offers no help. Any idea how a fully updated, licensed copy of Windows 10 Enterprise running the latest version of Internet Explorer (with no fancy security settings cranked up) can't load an ActiveX control from Microsoft Corporation while trying to download updates from Microsoft's Update Catalog?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi All,
We are facing a issue with Internet Explorer Proxy exception. We are having a AD Domain for organisation with name Domain.com and lot of websites are created for intranet users with this domain name. We have configured the IE settings in all desktops to exclude *.domain.com from proxy.
Now the problem is that there are certain external websites also created with same domain extension. The users are facing issues while accessing these websites from LAN as the domain is exempted in Proxy.
there is a possibility that we can remove *.Domain.com from proxy exception and add specific websites but that is very complicated as there are many such websites and it will take lot of time to collect that information and configure.
As the number of Internet websites is very less, is there a way that I keep the proxy exception as it is and add configure specific websites to open via proxy.

SHORTCUT FUNCTION PROBLEM IN EXCEL2010
Hi everyone,
I currently have a mixed environment of IE9, 10 and 11 and need to turn off and make unavailable to the users a few options. I was able to get everything done in IE9 but I am unable to get the last item for IE10 and IE11. I can't get "Use Microsoft compatibility lists" (IE11) and "Download updated compatibility lists from Microsoft" (IE10) to gray out. I have been trying to do this through GPO.
Below is a screenshot of the policy I made. I created the policy as a Computer policy. I tried to create a user one with the setting but that did not appear to help. I have been trying to do research but have not gotten anywhere. I've downloaded the latest ADM files.
Thank you all in advance.
Hi, I'm trying to deploy IE 11 to our company via System Center 2012 SP1 CU4. I'm attempting to create an .MSI file using the IEAK 11. That's no problem. I can get IE to install using this method. The problem I'm having is when I try to include (add) patches and updates to the installation/.MSI. I'm using the IEAK and am asking them to "install after system restarts" (after IE 11 has been successfully installed). The patch I'm trying to install is KB3087038. I've downloaded the Windows6.1-KB3087038-x64.msu file and have extracted the .cab file from it (You can only select .exe or .cab files for this process.) One of the websites, a Microsoft site, says to insert a command in the "Command:" box to extract the file. The command I insert there is: "expand IE11-Windows6.1-KB3087038-x64.cab -f:* c:\temp" A print-screen is attached below:
When I do this, however, I receive the following error message after IE 11 is installed and the system is rebooted. No files are extracted to the c:\temp folder:
Error: could not locate INF file 'expand IE11-Windows6.1-KB3087038-x64.cab -f:* c:\temp'. So I click OK and the system continues booting into Windows 7. The patch is never applied.
Do any of you have advice for me? Am I using the correct syntax in the Command box? Thank you.
We have a number of HP Thin Clients running Windows Embedded Standard 7 sp1 with IE11 installed. We would like to enable Enterprise Mode on these machines. They are stand alone workstations and are not part of an AD. I have attempted to enable Enterprise
Mode via the registry by adding the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode as per the article
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn640699.aspx, however it does not appear to work. When I look under the tools menu, there is no option for Enterprise Mode. The version of IE11 installed
is 11.0.9600.17843. I've also tried enabling it through the HKCU area, with no difference.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hello,
we are about to enroll the IE11 to our company (currently using IE9). During the testing process we got a strange problem while showing videos on the IE11: The videos or not playing. It doesn’t matter which video or which website or if it’s a Flash or HTML5 video.
But if the notebook went to standby once, the videos are showed without any problems. We even can keep the IE open. Just a refresh of the website after the standbay is enough.
We checked that the video file is downloaded completely to the client. As we don’t have any problems with the IE9 we don’t assume a problem with the proxy or the antivirus software.
We are using Windows 7 Enterprise on Lenovo notebooks, with IE11.0.23
At the moment we do not have any idea what is making that kind of problems before the standby. What is the standby procedure changing in a running Windows?
Looking forward to your reply.
Jan
