Enterprise install of IE 11 choaking on KB2729094

Our company is currently in the process of updating Internet Explorer to version 11 using WSUS. Over 60% of the deployments are failing due to KB2729094 (a prerequisite patch). The IE11_MAIN.LOG indicates that the WMI Query is timing out with an error  0x00040004 (262148).   The hotfix has been successfully deployed back on 10/21/2012 and when you enumerate all Quick Engineering hotfixes via WMI, the patch is listed as being successfully installed.  It doesn't appear to be a problem where WMI cannot read the registry key to enumerate this particular hotfix.

One solution is to manually uninstall KB2729094, reboot, and reinstall it.  This defeats the purpose of an enterprise deployment by seamlessly using WSUS to upgrade the corporate web browser. I could create a script to manually uninstall and reinstall the hotfix, but this may cause issues with workstations that already have the patch successfully deployed and IE updated.

Microsoft...what is your solution for this?

Internet Explorer will not open after disconnect

Hello all,

I have a client that works on a 2008 R2 terminal server. Yesterday the office lost internet connectivity, which dropped everyone from the TS connection. When one user logged back in she was unable to open any browser. The includes Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Internet Explorer will open a process, but a window will never appear and it does not show in running applications. She seems to be the only user affected. Logging off of the server and back on has no effect. Internet Explorer version is 11. I tried to run the iediag, but it seems to just keep running and have not really do anything. I ran ran an SFC /scannow on the server and it gave no errors. Since this is a virtual server we have it set to reboot every night and the reboot seems to fix her issue. The problem seems to happen to her every time there is an internet loss. Any advice on a solution?

Single IE 9 session, multiple tabs - Message: This Page is No Longer Available

$

We use Peoplesoft within a browser.  We had some software upgrades including an upgrade to IE 9.  When I open multiple tabs within a single browser instance, I used to manage unique activities in each tab.  Say I open an "Items" menu in one tab and a "Requisition" menu in another tab, then do work or investigation within the Items tab.  If I start to work within the Requisition tab, in less than a minute the content of the Requisition tab will clear and I get the message"THIS PAGE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE."  And "To continue, return to your most recent active page or select one of the navigation icons in the header above."

Whatever I saw in the Items tab now is duplicated in the Requisitions tab after the error message is displayed.  All work in the Requisitions screen is replaced by a duplicate of the previous tab.

No back button is used at any time.

Our I.T. says it's Peoplesoft and Peoplesoft says it's the browser.  I have a feeling there is a setting within IE 9 that can be tweaked to turn off this bleeding between tabs.  It didn't bleed between tabs in the previous version of IE.  Any inspiration? Suggestions?

IE 11 blocks access to "Microsoft Update" service

Using Windows Update on Windows 7 SP1, there is an option to enable "Microsoft Update" at the bottom to also update Office and other Microsoft applications:

Get updates for other Microsoft products. Find out more.

,

This opens a webpage, which in IE 10 and earlier, allows me to enable Microsoft Update.

However, IE 11 does not show the page to enable Microsoft Update but shows a useless and unrelated help message:

Use your Start menu to check for updates

How am I supposed to enable the optional Microsoft Update service now?

IE 11 content advisor configuration via GPO

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to enable and configure the content advisor for IE 11 through GPO. The setting in Group Policy preferences is greyed out and there is no way to configure from a regular policy. The only setting relates to showing the content advisor option (it's disabled by default).

I don't wish to use IEAK.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Packaging IE11 prerequisite updates with IEAK

$

I would like to deploy IE11 using IEAK. I'm trying to package the IE11 prerequisite updates into the exe\msi it outputs but the installer is still trying to go out to the Internet to grab them from Microsoft updates. I want to avoid this. I am adding the updates via the Custom Components phase in the IEAK Wizard but I am not sure if this even works or if I am even using the correct command. I know the cabs are being inserted into the package because the size of the IE11-Setup-Full.exe\msi grows proportionality with the included cab files.

The expand command keeps getting truncated when I return to the Wizard no matter what I put so I am guessing its incorrect. IEAK documentation is lacking in this area.

Years ago I wrote a web page that opens my morning reading, about 75 different websites.  In firefox, I had to add a variable to allow this, as (understandably) this is turned off as a security feature by default.  As I am moving to IE, I would like to do that here.  How can I do it?

Folks,

I need to modify the order and presence of icons on the Command Bar in IE 10. This needs to be done through GPO/Registry keys as I will do it for the domain and whole environment.

I did search the web and didn't find any useful information. Can anyone provide any info on how to do this task?

Cheers!!

Submit/Logins Buttons Only Work in InPrivate Browsing

Hello!

We found that AutoFill was not prompting/working for the website: https://wholesale.flagstar.com despite re-enabling the Prompt in IE10. I did find the "<formaction="/Lending/process/loginUser"name="formLogin"method="POST"autocomplete="off">" near the Login Field. We decided to upgrade to IE11 in hopes of getting past the 'autocomplete="off"' as I have read that IE11 bypasses it.

Upon upgrading to IE11, we accessed the above website, attempted to login using known credentials, and I am unable to select the "Login" button. Nothing appears to work. The only way I am able to login to the page (outside of using another Browser, which the client cannot use), is if I access the above webpage using InPrivate browsing.

I also noticed I am unable to "View Source" in the users IE11. I have also ran IE11 with 0 plugins to no avail.

This user describes the same issue to a "T" > http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie10-windows_7/website-buttons-only-work-in-private-browsing/abb10ffa-f253-4a86-9631-877bb7bb6378

I am still researching, but I figured it was a good time to post.
