microsoft edge and silverlight

Hi, I have recently installed Windows 10 and have also obviously got Microsoft Edge as my new web browser. However, I am unable to watch BT Sport on the chosen browser, as it requires Microsoft Silverlight to run, which is not available.

I therefore have to run it on IE which constantly crashes and re boots. Is there a way to get it on the new browser?

AXIS RSClientPrint Install fails without admin access to Downloaded Program Files protected folder.

We are trying to override being an admin for general users to use the RSClientPrint control through IE.  We would like all users to be able to click on the Print Icon and allow the install of the RSClientPrint control to complete and then run the control. We setup hosts for the SSRS servers and load balancers in trusted sites and Group Policy updates as recommended as well for trusted hosts.  Something is still preventing the install from occurring and believe it is still not having read/write access to the Downloaded Program Files folder.

The closest thing i have found thus far to anything close to resolving this problem would be IE settings are overwriting the AXIS settings.

I am running W7 home premium with SP1. I have checked Properties and it shows that Windows is activated and has an OEM product key, have ensured that no updates are outstanding and gone thru suggested actions but I am still unable to get the W10 icon to show. (It has popped up in my wife's laptop tho'). I am not confident in my ability to download W10 and install it myself. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

IE11 fails to reach any website after update

Hello,

we run IE9 in our company. In fact, if we try to update a client's IE9 to IE11, he can't reach any website anymore. This happens often after hibernation mode but in my case directly after the update.

It loads infinitely long. If we restart the client, the problem is gone for a while.

I used WireShark to get a look into, with the following results.

The first errors10.99.246.4 is our Domain Controller.
10.199.150.146 is my client.

Best regards and thanks in advance,
Phillip

lost favorites

My 5 years of favorites has disappeared from IE after the upgrade to 10. No I did not back-up anything. The upgrade was so laborious that I felt I was swimming up the falls at Niagara and gave up several times.

But is there a way to recover the lost list.

And also, my initial response to 10 is BOO!

If I Enable "Customize User Agent String" GPO it breaks Office 365 and SharePoint On-Line.  After the Policy is replicated to the domain, the domain users can no longer select single line items in OneDrive for Business or on SharePoint document libraries. I followed the settings listed in the following URL.

I can not enable FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE

Hi,

I am trying to enable username and password in the url for IE11.0.9600.17914 and Windows 7 Enterprise.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/834489#bookmark-letmefixitmyselfalways

When I try Fix it I see error message:

This Microsoft fix it does not apply to your operating system or application version.

I try to fixed it myself like this is described in the article.

I create iexplore.exe and explorer.exe DWORD values with 0 in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE

The result is that when I enter my url with username and pass in IE11 and I don’t see the basic authentication window, but I see only white page. Actually my application is not loaded.

Must I change something else in IE or regkey or on other place to make this work?

From forums I again certutil to allow 512 bit websites. Even then it didnt fix the issue.

IE 11 won't update

IE 11 used to update automatically, it now says that updates are controlled by the system administrator. This is a home computer and I AM the system administrator and always log in as such. What happened? At the same time I can no longer download anything. Message comes up same ""filename" couldn't be downloaded". Clicking retry does nothing.

managing Enterprise Mode list.

here is my process when I need to add a site to my enterprise mode xml file:

1. open Enterprise Mode Site List Manager
2. bulk add from file, select my enterprise mode xml file.
3. add the site
4. save to xml, select my enterprise mod xml file overwrite it.

I do it this way because I have other people on my team also updating the xml file on their workstations with the site list manager installed. so when I open the List Manager tool on my desktop, I need to load all the sites from the latest version of the xml file, otherwise when I save my list back to the xml, it's not going to have any sites that were added by other people on other machines. (Or when I get a new PC myself...I've had this happen a few times and have had to rebuild the entire list.)

the issue I see here is that when I do this, the "rules version" at the top of the xml file always gets reset back to 1. the way I understand it, IE compares its currently loaded version to the version in the xml file to see if it needs to reload the newer version of the xml. so having it go back to 1 every time I add a site doesn't seem ideal.

i'm assuming that this site list manager tool was implemented to extract the role of managing this list away from the group policy administrator. which is great and all, but surely MS thought about more than one person managing the list from more than one computer.

am I doing this wrong? or understanding the point of the version number incorrectly?

Hello there,

I am trying to upgrade to Windows10 from Windows 7. Before doing that, it requires me to upgrade IE 10 to IE 11.

After automatic update failed, I tried download IE 11 and install manually. However it failed with the same error:

I have tried method in:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee264196%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

But no luck...Since the error source is VSS, I thought this may be a backup issue, so I did a system backup and that was a success.

When I tried to uninstall IE 10 again, it failed with the same error code - 8193.

I am kind of lost here...Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Internet Explorer 11 Install - Pending Restart Check

$

Good Afternoon All!

We are working on upgrading all Windows 7 clients to Internet Explorer 11, and there has been much debate about the best way to go about it. Since IE11 requires a restart for the changes to take effect, we have been bouncing back and forth on how to push this out. Out of 1900+ W7 computers, we have nearly 900 that still do not have IE11.

Many of these computers are in our manufacturing department, and they have users on them 24/7, so forcing a restart is not a good idea. One idea we had was to push the install with /NoRestart on the MSI arguments, then just send emails saying we are going to restart their systems one night. That was good, but why email every user when about 10% shut their computers down nightly and maybe another 20% will restart within the week?

I have a VBScript that I use for other purposes to check if a user is logged in (local or RDP), and restart if no users are on. I can put a list of computers in an input file and run the script any time of day. This led me to my next idea.

I know when IE11 installs, you can go to "Add/Remove Windows Components" from appwiz.cpl, and you will see "Internet Explorer 11" but it is unchecked. From what I have seen, having IE11 listed here and unchecked is a sure-fire way to tell a restart is pending for the changes to take effect.

My question based on this... where can I query to see if "Internet Explorer 11" is shown and is unchecked in the "Add/Remove Windows Components" screen? I have been looking through the registry on a test computer, but I cannot seem to find anything. If I can find this somewhere, my idea is to push IE11 out, run my script for a few days to check for no users and restart, then after a week or so, see which computers have not yet restarted. I would then have a good, shorter list of computers that I can email the owners for.

Does anybody know where I could find where the "Add/Remove Windows Components" settings can be found? How can I check for "Internet Explorer 11" and being unchecked?

I would sincerely appreciate any help here. This would save my management and users a lot of heartache. Thank you in advance!

Eric

P.S. If there is a better forum for this question, please let me know and I will move it.
