IE 11 will not launch in app mode, it only will launch in desktop mode. I have read the other posts and my issue is different. There are no other browsers on my machine than IE 11. In the control panel, in internet options, I set internet explorer to the default setting for all programs. I then unpin IE from the metro start and repin it to the start. Same damn result happens every single time, it will launch in desktop mode. I've rebooted, deleted cache temp files, cleaned registry...nothing changes the result.

Here is the kicker, two days ago it worked for 5 minutes! There are no other software on this machine, it is a brand new Lenovo Yoga 11s. What is up with this browser not running in app mode?

Hi all,

After installed Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 Professional (32-bit), I tried to enable the Enterprise Mode and failed by using Local Group Policy or Registry.

When I started gpedit.msc after installed Internet Explorer 11, the following error message is prompted. After I click OK, the administrative template of Internet Explorer cannot be found.

• Resource '$(string.Advanced_EnableSSL3Fallback)' referenced in attribute displayName could not be found.
• File C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\inetres.admx, line 795, column 308

I also tried to enable by modifying the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode). After modified, the EnterpriseMode still cannot be found under Tools tab.

Any workaround, idea or resolution are welcome. Thank you !

I am on my Windows 8.1 computer and I have an internet issue. When I go onto desktop internet and I go "tools" then "Internet Options" and then "Programs" I uncheck the box that says "Open Internet Explorer Tiles on Desktop" and above that it says "Let internet explorer decide" then I click apply and then ok. I go back onto internet...tools,internet options....programs. And the box that says "Open Internet Explorer Tiles on Desktop" is checked again!! I am trying to fix my Internet Explorer 11 and Internet Explorer is my default browser! The only time I can go onto IE11 (Internet Explorer 11) is when I click on links.

I continue to have issues with secure websites when using IE 10 on Windows 8.  Any https site I go to, my page displays nothing.  It basically won't ever load the page.  Non secure websites don't seem to load completely either. I have reset my setting and have also done many different things based on the other forums where I've seen fixes, but those have not fixed the problem.  I also have not seen any Microsoft KB item that addresses this issue.  What is the fix for this??  Is there one??

Hello!
I need to adjust the computer with Windows 8.1 for work of users with one irnernet page. For this purpose well the mode of the limited account with the IE in the subway version. But possibility of the print is also necessary for me. Whether there is a print at such mode?

I have a need to set IE 11 "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" and google search was not much help. These are steps I done:

1. In IE 11, I ensure there's no check at "Display intranet sites in compatibility view"

2. In Group policy, I disabled 'Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for local intranet'

3. Ran gpupdate

4. "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" is checked and grayed out!

It's not what I want, I want "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" uncheck and grayed out to prevent users check the box. What other steps to achieve this? Thanks.

I just bought this laptop about 10 days ago to use specifically for a writing project separate from my other work laptop. It has Windows 7. It had Google Chrome installed (or maybe my brother installed it upon taking it out of the box.) I have used IE as my browser on this laptop once or twice, but mostly use Google Chrome. I downloaded some genealogy software I just bought today about an hour or so ago (Family Tree Maker 2012) and noticed that it would not connect to the internet to register- it kept saying "No internet connection". After trying a few things (allowing the program access through Windows Firewall, checking to make sure that "proxy server" tab was not checked in Internet Settings, disabling some Bing Maps and Windows Live email accelerators) and finally tried closing Chrome and opening IE to run in background instead. However, IE won't connect - keeps saying "Cant display webpage" although I am definitely connected to internet via wifi. I tried resetting Internet Explorer...no dice. I've restarted several times. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?

My husband thinks i should uninstall Chrome, which he guesses is causing all the trouble with both IE and the Family Tree software. But I'm afraid that if I uninstall Chrome and it doesnt work, i wont be able to get back on the internet since I can presently only do so through Chrome.

I dont have a whole lot of experience troubleshooting computers, so please be specific!

Hi. IE11 & Outlook 2010. If I select a hyperlink from an email, iexplore.exe loads OK but the target web page does not load. I just get a blank page. I cannot then load any other page from within that session either. Opening a new tab doesn't work either.

If I c&p the hyperlink into IE launched from Start Menu it works as expected. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot?

Hi. When I open IE11 my homepage (intranet) opens fine, but when I select new tab nothing happens. Task Manager shows an iexplore.exe process continuingly opening and immediately closing.  This continues until I close IE or terminate the process.

Any idea why this is happening?

I am having a problem with my Internet Explorer 9

Something is wrong with the browsing history. A few days ago, it suddenly stopped recording the sites I have visited and it only records the documents I have opened up through Computer

I do not have InPrivate Browsing on, I did not check the option for Delete Browsing History on Exit, I did not click the Delete button to delete my browsing history, and I did not change any settings. All that happened was that I was browsing websites and the Browsing History function was working like normal, and then all of a sudden on Wednesday, it stops recording my websites and only records the Microsoft Word documents I have opened up that day

I am not sure if the Temporary Internet Files Folder is full, but I have never had a problem with it in the past and the storage space is in the recommended range.

I have not made any changes to any of the setting at all.

I could really use some help on this because it is really bothering me

Serious broken url on windows operating system

Today at 9:11AM

Fault occurrene  commenced 9.30 am uk time 6th May

Event ID 131:  this event is occurring on hundreds of windows operating systems at my place of work and throughout the community.  Metadata staging is failing because the Microsoft link in the registry is malfunctioning.

The Microsoft url has somehow become corrupt on your server and no one can connect to that url it is dead and needs an urgent prolevel repair.

 

this error is generated by the registry key: HKEY-Local-Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Device Metadata:

 

In this registry is the url required to connect to Windows Metadata

Device Meta Data URL  =  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=252669&clcid=0x409

 This link should forward to:  http://dmd.metaservices.microsoft.com/dms/metadata.svc.  It is not forwarding therefore all windows operating systems are being flooded with event id 131  meta data staging failed, because the link is malfunctioning the hardware and devices update is generating the errors.  Needs fixing,  please point us all in the right direction to get Microsoft to fix this please

 please advise me this issue will be sent to the relevant department.  There are many users on community sites wondering why there systems are suddenly being flooded with metadata errors.

Hi....

I have been in rehabilitation unable to access anything on computer......

I was told by our IT that my Hotmail.com messages, etc., would be transferred to outlook.com with no problems.....

NOTHING is transferred.......How should I proceed.....?

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 with IE11, and I can no longer drag and drop links onto existing tabs. Why was this removed? That was one of the most useful features of tabbed browsing.

I do not know if this will help anyone with the page cannot be displayed problem that I and apparently others are having . but after trying many of the fixes I found online to no avail, I opened my anti virus (Bitdefender total security) and in settings , I pressed application rules and then did a reset. I then reloaded IE 11 ( as well as Chrome ) and after a reboot, found that both work fine now.

Hi! I need help with my Acer Windows 8.1: I am trying to play my xfinity online tv programing but can't as it gives me an error saying I need to install the latest flash player (and I don't, I know that). Also, I have recently restarted and rebooted my computer to factory install status. We had a virus so deleted everything. Anyway, back at square one. Before I rebooted I WAS able to play Xfinity after doing this that and the other with internet options and safety (clicked on Activity X). But because of the virus, it glitched so I rebooted. After the reboot and installing updates I have opened up IE on desktop and selected Active X filter. I still can't get it to work. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi All,

In our environment, we face some problem with internet browsing with internet explorer. We use IE 10. Internet browsing is perfect with other browsers ( i.e. Mozilla, Google Chrome). but it is slow in IE on the same computers. I have done user profile reset and then the performance of IE is improved, but after 2 weeks again the same slowness. I also have checked that in Private browsing mode of IE, it works well. So I made some changes on IE. the settings are allowing the deleting browser history and browser cache on exit. I have disabled allow websites to store application caches on client computers and allow websites to store indexed internet browsing with IE. But no changes is observed after that. The slowness is mostly faced with the sites likehttp://telegraph.nl

Can someone help me with any suggestion for this?

Hello,

We are now testing internet explorer 11 and enterprise mode.

User are temporarely allowed to enable enterprise mode from the Tools menu (this will be disable afe rthe test phase).

GPO have been deployed to configure enterprise mode option and to define a centrally managed site list.

My questions are :

1) Will sites added to the enterprise mode using the tool menu be overridden by the central site list ?

2) Where is the local enterprise mode site list stored ?

3) Will the local enterprise mode site list be cleared under certain circumstance (Ie update, ...) ?
