IE 11 not able to add Search Provider
This is brand new Windows 8.1 install, freshly installed O365 and all critical updates installed.
So I click on the gear in IE, select Manage add-ons.
This opens the Manage Add-ons window, I click on Search providers, it only shows Bing.
I click on Find more search providers... at the bottom of the window, this opens IE with a list of the search engines. I click on Google, which loads the google search page. When I click the Add to Internet Explorer button nothing happen, nothing gets added, no message gets display, NOTHING.
I see the button wants to run a javascript, so I go back in add this site to trusted sites, thinking that will allow it to run. Close browser, re-open, try again, same outcome .... NOTHING.
So next I go and reduce the security level to low for trusted sites, figuring this will allow the script to fire off. No luck, still nothing.
Next I go to windows features, un check IE 11, reboot, go back in again check IE 11. Try it again, still nothing.
Finally I installed the Google Toolbar for IE check the box for making google the default search, after install reboot, guess what .... still nothing but Bing listed in search providers.
Is there another way to repair IE 11 on Windows 8.1? I have done this many times in the past, why now is this such an issue? Can I manually put this into the registry?

IE 11 & Adobe PDF
The user opens from within a HTML session through IE 11. The text all looks fine in IE 11, but when saved as PDF the text does not get formatted properly.
The same application when used with IE 8 and saved as PDF (Print to Adobe PDF) and opened as PDF file, it is formatted correctly. So, I am trying to understand whether this is an issue with IE 11 or Adobe Print to PDF and PDF Reader. Anyone has encountered such things before or having similar issues.
Thanks in advance for your response!

My MSIE has been hijacked ! How can I control the default search engine?
Hello
Something has (without my permission) changed all my home pages to this URL:
http://uk.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/web?hspart=iry&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_003&type=wncy_frg01_15_19¶m1=1¶m2=f%3D1%26b%3DFirefox%26cc%3Dgb%26pa%3DWincy%26cd%3D2XzuyEtN2Y1L1QzutDtDtC0C0CtD0FzyzzyE0B0B0EtD0FtCtN0D0Tzu0StCtBtBtAtN1L2XzutAtFtCtDtFyCtFtCtN1L1CzutN1L1G1B1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2StAtCzz0DyCyCzy0DtGtD0BtAzztGzz0EyCtAtG0DyCtB0FtGyB0AtByEtCyEtD0B0F0A0DyE2QtN1M1F1B2Z1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2S0C0E0DtA0CtA0C0DtGyBtDtByBtGyEtBtBzztGzzyB0AzztGyBtBtCzy0DyEtAzytCzz0C0E2QtN0A0LzuyEtN1B2Z1V1T1S1NzuyByEzz%26cr%3D1021354084%26a%3Dwncy_frg01_15_19%26os%3DWindows%208.1U g
I have managed to manually change them back to my own home page. BUT in MSIE (v11 on Win8.1) it has changed to default search engine to something similar: For example if I enter "test" (without quotes) into the URL field, it comes back with this URL on Yahoo.com:
http://uk.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=iry&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_003&type=wncy_frg01_15_19¶m1=1¶m2=f%3D4%26b%3DIE%26cc%3Dgb%26pa%3DWincy%26cd%3D2XzuyEtN2Y1L1QzutDtDtC0C0CtD0FzyzzyE0B0B0EtD0FtCtN0D0Tzu0StCtBtBtAtN1L2XzutAtFtCtDtFyCtFtCtN1L1CzutN1L1G1B1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2StAtCzz0DyCyCzy0DtGtD0BtAzztGzz0EyCtAtG0DyCtB0FtGyB0AtByEtCyEtD0B0F0A0DyE2QtN1M1F1B2Z1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2S0C0E0DtA0CtA0C0DtGyBtDtByBtGyEtBtBzztGzzyB0AzztGyBtBtCzy0DyEtAzytCzz0C0E2QtN0A0LzuyEtN1B2Z1V1T1S1NzuyByEzz%26cr%3D1021354084%26a%3Dwncy_frg01_15_19%26os%3DWindows

My questions are
A) How (the heck) can I change the default URL back to www.google.co.uk ?
B) Is there any way by looking at these URLs that we can work out who the Evil organisation is that attacked/hijacked my MSIE's search engine and home page?
Many thanks

This page can't be displayed - Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 ** But TLS is already turned on.
I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key to log in on a new computer. When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...
This page can't be displayed
Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again. If this error persists, contact your site administrator.
Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO. Restarting IE and rebooting did not help. Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.
Edit: This is IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise.I have updated IE10 to IE11
I can't install internet explorer 11 for windows 7 32-bits
When i tried to install IE11, I keep Getting "Internet Explorer did not finish installing" error and link to troubleshooting page.

IE 11 frequently stops
I am using an HP Pavilion dv7 with Windows Home Premium, 543 GB free disk space, and IE 11, V 11.0.19 (KB3049563).
When using IE, it frequently stops, gives me a pop-up window saying it stopped, then restarts, messing up what I'm doing at the time.
In a previous posting, I was asked to find Stopped Working Errors and post the details. I have 3 different ones, out of the 30 listed on my computer, I copied and here they are: (Thanks for any help with this. Larry)

video issues
Internet Explorer 11 disabled Adobe Reader plugin - plugin still shows as enabled
We've been seeing a issue that is plaguing a number of our users and only it seems to users that have been upgraded to IE 11, the symptoms are:
User has Adobe Reader XI installed, fully patched, and IE 11, again, fully patched. The Adobe PDF plugin shows as enabled in the GUI. PDF's are however opened outside the browser, as if the plugin were disabled. If the user disables and then re-enables the plugin via the GUI, the issue is resolved for some amount of time, though it seems to come back (most likely on the reboot, still investigating that).
So, I did some digging, and what I'm seeing is that in normal, enabled operation, the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}
Does not exist. When the user is in this "enabled but not really enabled" state, the key is there. It also has a vercache value. If I delete the key, it's instantly fixed, no need to restart the browser. Not knowing what or how the key was being created, I setup an audit policy on the key, but the only time I'm seeing the key being written to iswhen the user disables then renables via the GUI to fix the issue, not seeing the creation of the key that CAUSES the issue in the first place. I verified on my own PC that the audit setting I set on the key picked up SYSTEM account access to the key (I set it to Everyone, Full control) so it should capture the creation of the rogue key.
My question is, has anyone seen this particular behavior, and if possible identified a cause and/or permanent fix, and also, when would a HK_CU registry modification happen that would NOT be caught with an audit policy in place? The only thing I could think of was something crazy like a driver that loaded before the security log starts, but looking to see if anyone else knows when the security log starts.
IE 11 will not hold second home page
How can I get the install for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems?
I have a few Windows Server 2008 R2 that still have IE 9 on them; I cannot install IE 11.
IE 10 is not available through Windows Update either on these servers

Enterprise Mode IE11
Hi,
Since updating to IE 11 enterprise mode we are experiencing issue whereby enterprise mode is intermittently working. For example we have bing.com added to the site list as enterprise mode intermittent on different days this is not appearing in enterprise mode.
I have noticed that deleting the temporary internet files resolves this issue, but this is not a valid workaround for over 5000 users.
Why would IE9 launch when IE11 is installed?
We have recently deployed IE11 to all our desktops, in order to support a new application (which has already gone live). We have already (manually) checked every workstation prior to go-live, and visually confirmed that they all had IE 11 installed. Over the past few days, some users are reporting that they have IE9 installed. We have gone back and checked these, and launching IE does indeed seem to be IE9. However, in Windows Features, it's showing IE11 (and as enabled). How is this possible and what can we do to fix it? |

remove entries from windows-live / hotmail sign-in drop down list
I inadvertantly added my password onto the end of my email address while trying to sign in to hotmail. Now whenever I start to sign in,as soon as I type the first letter of my email address, I see a drop down list containing an "email address" which is my email address AND my password combined.
how do I clear the drop down list or remove unwanted entries.
IE won't connect to internet, but Chrome is working fine. Other software wont connect to internet either.
I just bought this laptop about 10 days ago to use specifically for a writing project separate from my other work laptop. It has Windows 7. It had Google Chrome installed (or maybe my brother installed it upon taking it out of the box.) I have used IE as my browser on this laptop once or twice, but mostly use Google Chrome. I downloaded some genealogy software I just bought today about an hour or so ago (Family Tree Maker 2012) and noticed that it would not connect to the internet to register- it kept saying "No internet connection". After trying a few things (allowing the program access through Windows Firewall, checking to make sure that "proxy server" tab was not checked in Internet Settings, disabling some Bing Maps and Windows Live email accelerators) and finally tried closing Chrome and opening IE to run in background instead. However, IE won't connect - keeps saying "Cant display webpage" although I am definitely connected to internet via wifi. I tried resetting Internet Explorer...no dice. I've restarted several times. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?
My husband thinks i should uninstall Chrome, which he guesses is causing all the trouble with both IE and the Family Tree software. But I'm afraid that if I uninstall Chrome and it doesnt work, i wont be able to get back on the internet since I can presently only do so through Chrome.
I dont have a whole lot of experience troubleshooting computers, so please be specific!
Thanks so much!
IE9 menu Bar malfunction
My IE9 windows are becoming confused, and I find that 2 menu bars are displayed, but only the lower bar works. There is a gap between the two bars, and in that gap you can see other menus (eg on the Google page it shows their menu for Web, Images ...). The problem is that you cannot get to the top of the "page" as it lies up underneath the confused set of menu bars (see image).
