I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key to log in on a new computer.  When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...

This page can't be displayed

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again.  If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO.  Restarting IE and rebooting did not help.  Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.

Edit: This is IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

Internet Explorer 10 spell checking settings for all users - Windows 2008 r2

hi all,

We are running Windows 2008 r2 RDS servers and have IE10 installed as the default browser. The OS language is set to English (UK) but IE 10 spell checks in English US. How can  change this setting for all users, so it checks in English (UK), I can not seem to locate a Group Policy setting or registry key for these settings.

Unable to add search provider via "Internet Explorer gallery" on IE8

Seems there is a problem with adding a search provider via Internet Exlorer gallery as all the links for the search providers are not working. Whether you I try to add google, yahoo, wikipedia or even bing (although bing is the default search provider  I'm trying to change). When you click on "Find more providers" on the drop down options on the top right corner of the internet page, it links to this page- http://www.iegallery.com/en-gb/AddonsIE7 which has all the list of search providers. However the "Add to Internet Explorer" links on all the providers listed do not work.

I contacted the Answer Desk to report this and they were everything but helpful. They advised me to reset my IE8, restart it and try to add the search provider again and that didn't work. When I tried to explain the problem was with the webpage they kept saying the page does not belong to microsoft which is really weird since "©2015 Microsoft" is written at the bottom of the page. I got other colleagues including some at different locations and they seem to have the same problem.

I found a resolution to the problem on my own though and it looks like everything may have been moved to a different webpage. If you go via http://www.iegallery.com/AddonsIE7 instead, all the links seem to work just fine and I was able to add google and wikipedia as search providers. Unfortunately. IE8 comes configured to direct to the "en-gb" website when you tell it to Find more providers. So if you are having this problem just like I did, just remove the en-gb/ and you should be fine. Hope Microsoft fix this problem soon!!!!

Removing a site from Enterprise Model XML list for IE 11 does not disable enterprise mode for that site

We are using Group Policy to issue an XML file with a list of sites for IE 11 to load in Enterprise mode.  We added our payroll company site because they were not compatible with IE 11, now they are ONLY compatible with IE 11.  I removed their URL from the XML list over a week ago, but all company computers are still loading it in Enterprise mode.  I can have everyone turn it off manually, but the problem is they use so many subdomains that everyone would have to do it numerous times.  Why is that happening?  I need to force this site and its subdomains to NOT load in Enterprise Mode.  It seems that when the URL was removed from the XML list it no longer forced it, but it also did not remove that setting.

basic authentication, default domain, & IE

Hi all,

This has been asked over the years, but from my searching, never really answered fully

From my testing, it seems like IE insists on appending the local workstation to all basic authentication requests that do not include a domain.  This then invalidates the "Default Domain" setting within IIS for that particular website, causing authentication to fail.  Other browsers don't do this, and the default domain setting works fine.

Test scenario:  Computer not joined to the domain hits a basic authentication website.  Authentication prompt reads  "Username:  Password:   and text on bottom reads Domain:  WORKSTATIONNAME" .  User supplies only username and password.  Server logs an attempt to authenticate to a domain identical to the workstation name, and fails.

There's no way around this, correct?   Default domain specification just doesn't work with IE & Basic Authentication?

Thanks for your help.

Enterprise Mode | Site List | 65 Second Delay for new Site List Version (hoping there is a way to adjust)

Regarding the 65 second delay when an updated Site List exists...

We just updated our Intranet Site which happens to be the mandatory home page for all of our users.  The new Intranet site does not need Enterprise Mode anymore, so we removed it from Site List.  The unfortunate part of this is that the new site looks malformed until the 65 second wait for the new Site List gets pulled.  Monday morning when our users start opening the new page, we were hoping we can have this worked out somehow where the Site List will be automatically pulled prior to the first launch.  Is there any way to force a Site List change (even PowerShell or vbs script)?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Environment Info:

    • Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit
    • Internet Explorer 11 (fully patched)
    • Hosting Enterprise Mode Site List on Internal Server

    Thanks,

MS RDS IE browser issue on Mac

My company is running on fully mac environment, with MS RDS installed on each clients. My RDS server (Win Svr 2012 R2) has been configured and IE browser has been published as Remote Resources. Mac users will use IE browser via the RDS remote resources (RDS client) which I have published on the RDS server. But I encounter an issue, everytime the IE is minimized on the mac, it looks like its gone and its not showing on the mac taskbar or anywhere. When I login to the server, the session of the user is disconnected. What ever the user's has been working on the browser has been wiped out, the browser is back to default when the user relaunch the IE browser from the mac. How can I overcome this problem?

How can I stop a particular site showing in compatibility mode in IE10?

Hi,

Recently our business has rolled out an external recruitment site. For some reason, this site is automatically in compatibility mode on corporate devices. When we untick the option for all intranet sites to be shown in compatibility mode, this stops this issue.

However, we have not listed this site as an intranet site anywhere. We have it as an exception within our web filtering but that does not automatically show it as an intranet site.

Is there any way, through Group Policy of forcing a particular URL out of compatibility mode?

Thanks :)

IE 11 Problem: Combination IE-"DNS-Cache", Proxy-Server, Proxy-Pac and a Hosts File writing VPN

Hello everybody

We need to use a VPN-Software who writes DNS-Records for internal Websites/Servers into the Hosts File.
(Entrys with 127.0.0.82-140 for different internal Websites ore Servers)

We use a Proxy-Pac where is defined that Connections to 127.x goes outside the Proxy-Server (Proxy-Pac-Entrys are OK, they work since years and with other Browsers)

When we try to open a Website before the VPN is connected, the URL/IP cannot be resolved by the Client (normal, because of empty Hosts-file).

Now we close IE and start the VPN. The Hosts-File contains now the Records for the Websites.

When we want now to reopen the same Website from bevor, we receive the Message from our Proxy-Server, that the URL/Host cannot be resolved. Every other URL wich we not testet before (with 127.xx Entry) works wonderfull (outside Proxy). Other Browsers didnt have this Problem.

I think, IE Caches somewhere the before testet URL and ask the Proxy because he didnt make a new DNS/Hosts-File resolve.

At the same time, we can ping the URL and reseive the correct 127.x.x.x entry.

When we reset IE to Default, then IE works immediatly. When whe after Setting-Reset repeat the procedore, we get the same Problem. Only deleting all Caches and Historys not work.

(Under Vista with IE9 and the same VPN-Software the Problem not occurs)

Does anybody knows a solution?  (Sorry for my bad english)

Favorites not showing in IE11 address bar

In IE11, when you type something on the address bar, it will show you sites:

1) those are most recently visited

2) those match in the History, and

3) those match in the Favorites as well

Recently, in order to fix a problem, I need to delete the browsing history in IE11.  Note that when I did the delete, "Preserve Favorites website data" is *unchecked*.  After that, when I type something in the address bar of IE11, the History and Favorite search categories are gone.

I checked that my AutoComplete Settings are all correct.  Browsing history and Favorites are all checked.  Can I ask how to fix this problem so that the History and Favorite category will show up again in the address bar of IE11?  Thanks a lot!

By the way, cannot insert any images right now because account is not verified.  Will insert images to help diagnose the problem when I am able to do so.

In-house application caused IE11 and Office 2010 and 2013 to hang

Our in-house application is best view on IE 9. However we are upgrading to IE11 and the in-house can only be added to compatibility view list of IE11.

If the a user whose in-house URL is not included in the compatibility view list, all Microsoft Office products will hang on the desktop. Even when IE11 has been shut down, Microsoft Office would still not response. A restart is required.

Is there a solution to this? Thank you.

IE 11 update KB3049563 (replaced KB3038314 from April) breaks SSRS 2008R2 parameters

0
0

We're using IE 11 on Windows 7 and Reporting Services 2008R2;  both KB3038314 from last month and the replacement KB3049563 for IE11 released yesterday cause SSRS parameters to run abysmally slowly if one of the parameters presents the user a long pick-list and allow multi-select.

If the number of values in the param list are decreased (say, less than 500), or if only a single value is allowed to be selected from the list, the param selection behaves normally.  But if there's a long multi-select picklist in the params (delay appears proportional to the number of choices in the list), it takes several minutes for the pick list to become active.  In the meantime, the entire parameter pane is disabled, causing most users to believe the report is frozen and they abort.

Neither Chrome nor Firefox exhibit this behavior for the same report on the same report server.  Behavior is normal when the report is run in the Visual Studio development environment.  The undesirable behavior is specific to IE 11 (no idea whether earlier versions of IE might be affected).  Removal of the patch on the client workstation restores normal behavior.

This is a serious problem in our environment, and the problem seems to be under-reported.  Is anyone at Microsoft actively investigating this issue and working on a resolution?

Why would IE9 launch when IE11 is installed?

0
0

We have recently deployed IE11 to all our desktops, in order to support a new application (which has already gone live). We have already (manually) checked every workstation prior to go-live, and visually confirmed that they all had IE 11 installed.

Over the past few days, some users are reporting that they have IE9 installed. We have gone back and checked these, and launching IE does indeed seem to be IE9. However, in Windows Features, it's showing IE11 (and as enabled).

How is this possible and what can we do to fix it?
