Google Chrome is not working

Hi! I can't get my Google Chrome working. It started out by not being able to open it by just clicking on the icon and manually having to open it with a right click.  Now I can't open it at all.  It says that I need a new version for Windows 7.  I tried to install the new version and now it doesn't work.  I'm also receiving messages about compatibility issues.  Can anyone help?  I tried to uninstall and then reinstall.  Couldn't uninstall.  It's almost like my computer doesn't even recognize this program.

Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 is not displaying embedded flash video contents on Facebook and some other sites

When I want to watch Flash videos embedded into Facebook pages videos are not displayed as they should be. Where the video should be seen there is only blank white space. Audio is running normally though. If I click FULL SCREEN video mode Flash video is displayed normally. Only in small screen modes Flash videos are not displayed properly.

I have tried playing same videos using Google Chrome which is also using Flash ActiveX and everything is working fine there. Firefox which is using Flash Plugin also works fine. Only IE11 is not working as it should.

I have already reinstalled Flash Player and disabled all IE11 addons but problem is still there. I would say this is not Adobe Flash Player problem as in Chrome everything works fine.

Both the latest versions of Adobe Flash Player and updated IE11 are installed on my computer.

Can you, please, tell me what should I do to fix this problem.

Enterprise Mode Site List Manager with Folder Redirection

Is there a way to run Enterprise Mode Site List (EMSL) Manager while using Folder Redirection? EMSL Manager is trying to run in app data folder but Folder Redirection is adding the server location for app data instead of the local copy. This is fine until using EMSL Manager. The manager is looking for a location of "C:\SERVER\-FolderRedirection\USERNAME\AppData\EMIESiteListManager\SiteList.xml." Here is the error found in Visual Studio 2013 after EMSL Manager crashes"

An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException' occurred in mscorlib.dll

Additional information: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\SERVER\-FolderRedirection\USERNAME\AppData\EMIESiteListManager\SiteList.xml'.

Is there any way to change that location?

We have group a policy setup for IE (v. 11.0.18 - KB3038314) for Windows 7 at our company.

The domain policy is set to disable Shockwave Flash Object. Since an update of IE this does not seem to work anymore …..

Does anyone have the same or a similar problem?

SIMPLE QUESTION: Do I really need to test all my applications to upggrade IE8 to IE11?

$

Hello,

I was wondering if someone can give some practical advise on the best approach upgrading IE8 to IE11 in large organization.

Scenario: large organization with lots and lots Windows 7 computers running IE8. Why? Well, did I mention it is large organization? What? Why again? Well, Large organization means large number of applications including large number of custom in-house written Web applications that somebody said "may not work in IE11". I hope you get the idea.

Objective: since IE8 is not a good browser (just to say politely it is bit outdated :-) organization would like to upgrade to IE11 with minimal amount of risk, friction, efforts, time, testing etc. Bottom line: minimum amount of RESOURCES which usually means minimum amount of money. Yes, it looks like it is all about money :-).

Challenge: as always somebody said: we have tons of applications that may not work in IE11 and we need to test them all. If somebody say "no worries IE11 is fully compatible with IE8 so everything will work" and then one (or more) APPS won't work in IE11 this person will be in trouble. So what is usually happens this person who may say "don't worry" just because nobody want to get into trouble will say "sure, let's test all applications". Just not to take responsibility if at the end of the day one application won't work for any reason (even if the true reason why application won't work is not because of IE11 compatibility issue but something else). So now we are talking about doing what they call "full regression test" meaning we spend time, resources, and at the end of the day money.

And when all the testing is done, most likely it will be no issues. But I cannot say for sure. I just cannot understand how something that works in IE8 won't work in IE11. I do understand that many things that works in IE11 won't work in IE8 - for example HTML5, SPDY protocol etc. And that's fine - we are not looking to downgrade IE11 to IE8. We need otherwise - upgrade IE8 to IE11. So I don't get why or how it may not work if IE11 is better, faster, more secure etc.

Yes, I do understand that sometimes new security features are causing some issues when first introduced, but 1. they will eventually be addressed and 2. they can easily be switched to lower level compatible with older browser (as temporary solution) just to make things work. But is that really true that many applications that works in IE8 will not work in IE11?

I see a fundamental issue here. We need to move forward faster and faster (Edge is now reality and IE already history) but somebody say it does not work. So where is this magic potion that allows to move forward and not to stay behind? It must be something, and if not maybe somebody should look and address (read:resolve) this fundamental issue.

Anyway please let me know what you think. If somebody (and I'm sure somebody went through the same hassle) got real experience and can share some ideas it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

How can I disable "View Downloads" while in ie9 kiosk mode?

$

I am trying to set up a kiosk computer with ie9 in kiosk mode. I only want the user to see and use ie9 for a couple of web sites. I'm trying to lock down entry points to Windows Explorer. However, the user can press CTRL+J to access the "View Downloads" window and can then click Options to access Windows Explorer components. This is not acceptable. This should easily be fixed by a GPO setting to disable the "View Downloads" window, but I cannot find a GPO setting to disable the View Downloads window. I also cannot find a way to lock down the Options choice from View Downloads, but it would be better to just stop the View Downloads window. Any ideas on how to disable or prevent the opening of this "View Downloads" dialog box?

My MSIE has been hijacked ! How can I control the default search engine?

Hello

Something seriously Evil has changed all my home pages to this URL:

http://uk.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/web?hspart=iry&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_003&type=wncy_frg01_15_19&param1=1&param2=f%3D1%26b%3DFirefox%26cc%3Dgb%26pa%3DWincy%26cd%3D2XzuyEtN2Y1L1QzutDtDtC0C0CtD0FzyzzyE0B0B0EtD0FtCtN0D0Tzu0StCtBtBtAtN1L2XzutAtFtCtDtFyCtFtCtN1L1CzutN1L1G1B1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2StAtCzz0DyCyCzy0DtGtD0BtAzztGzz0EyCtAtG0DyCtB0FtGyB0AtByEtCyEtD0B0F0A0DyE2QtN1M1F1B2Z1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2S0C0E0DtA0CtA0C0DtGyBtDtByBtGyEtBtBzztGzzyB0AzztGyBtBtCzy0DyEtAzytCzz0C0E2QtN0A0LzuyEtN1B2Z1V1T1S1NzuyByEzz%26cr%3D1021354084%26a%3Dwncy_frg01_15_19%26os%3DWindows%208.1U g

I have managed to manually change them back to my own home page. BUT in MSIE (v11 on Win8.1) it has changed to default search engine to something similar: For example if I enter "test" (without quotes) into the URL field, it comes back with this URL on Yahoo.com:

http://uk.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=iry&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_003&type=wncy_frg01_15_19&param1=1&param2=f%3D4%26b%3DIE%26cc%3Dgb%26pa%3DWincy%26cd%3D2XzuyEtN2Y1L1QzutDtDtC0C0CtD0FzyzzyE0B0B0EtD0FtCtN0D0Tzu0StCtBtBtAtN1L2XzutAtFtCtDtFyCtFtCtN1L1CzutN1L1G1B1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2StAtCzz0DyCyCzy0DtGtD0BtAzztGzz0EyCtAtG0DyCtB0FtGyB0AtByEtCyEtD0B0F0A0DyE2QtN1M1F1B2Z1V1N2Y1L1Qzu2S0C0E0DtA0CtA0C0DtGyBtDtByBtGyEtBtBzztGzzyB0AzztGyBtBtCzy0DyEtAzytCzz0C0E2QtN0A0LzuyEtN1B2Z1V1T1S1NzuyByEzz%26cr%3D1021354084%26a%3Dwncy_frg01_15_19%26os%3DWindows 8.1&p=test&conversationid=

My questions are

A) How (the heck) can I change the default URL back to www.google.co.uk ?

B) Is there any way by looking at these URLs that we can work out who the Evil organisation is that attacked/hijacked my MSIE's search engine and home page?

Many thanks

J

Internet Explorer 11 doesn't want to start up on some PCs

Hi All,

I just would like to ask you here, if it is a general issue, that after migrating from IE8 to IE11, in some cases the Internet Explorer 11 doesn't want to start, only After I go to Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset IE Settings.

I already found that I can do it with a command:

RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ResetIEtoDefaults

But, is there a way to reset these settings during the install of the new IE, I mena, some option for this in the AIK?

Or does anybody know some silent way to do this, in case of 50-200 PCs are affected?

Thank you in advance.

Zoltán

IE 11 not able to add Search Provider

$

0

This is brand new Windows 8.1 install, freshly installed O365 and all critical updates installed.

So I click on the gear in IE, select Manage add-ons.

This opens the Manage Add-ons window, I click on Search providers, it only shows Bing.

I click on Find more search providers... at the bottom of the window, this opens IE with a list of the search engines. I click on Google, which loads the google search page.  When I click the Add to Internet Explorer button nothing happen, nothing gets added, no message gets display, NOTHING.

I see the button wants to run a javascript, so I go back in add this site to trusted sites, thinking that will allow it to run.  Close browser, re-open, try again, same outcome .... NOTHING.

So next I go and reduce the security level to low for trusted sites, figuring this will allow the script to fire off.  No luck, still nothing.

Next I go to windows features, un check IE 11, reboot, go back in again check IE 11.  Try it again, still nothing.

Finally I installed the Google Toolbar for IE check the box for making google the default search, after install reboot, guess what .... still nothing but Bing listed in search providers.

Is there another way to repair IE 11 on Windows 8.1?  I have done this many times in the past, why now is this such an issue? Can I manually put this into the registry?

Hello

I have managed to reset Internet Explorer v11 in the Advanced settings.

However something is still stopping me from changing the default search engine.

i.e. If I click on this URL http://www.iegallery.com/en-gb/Addons/Details/813  "Add to Internet Explorer", absolutely nothing happens!
I have tried turning off the popup blocker.

Any suggestion?

Serious broken url on windows operating system
Today at 9:11AM
Fault occurrene  commenced 9.30 am uk time 6th May
Event ID 131:  this event is occurring on hundreds of windows operating systems at my place of work and throughout the community.  Metadata staging is failing because the Microsoft link in the registry is malfunctioning.
The Microsoft url has somehow become corrupt on your server and no one can connect to that url it is dead and needs an urgent prolevel repair.

this error is generated by the registry key: HKEY-Local-Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Device Metadata:

In this registry is the url required to connect to Windows Metadata

This link should forward to:  http://dmd.metaservices.microsoft.com/dms/metadata.svc.  It is not forwarding therefore all windows operating systems are being flooded with event id 131  meta data staging failed, because the link is malfunctioning the hardware and devices update is generating the errors.  Needs fixing,  please point us all in the right direction to get Microsoft to fix this please

please advise me this issue will be sent to the relevant department.  There are many users on community sites wondering why there systems are suddenly being flooded with metadata errors.

I am running IE11 on w 8.1, I have all add-ons turned off.  After I am on the internet AND HAVE GONE TO A PICTURE and then clicked off the internet I get a message "A problem caused the program to stop running correctly.  Windows will close the program....".  But I have already closed the program.  It is annoying, and it only happens on one user account.  Is there an easy fix (not very computer savvy)?
