Tracking Protection Lists with a text editor!

How do you make these?

Well, I've been doing a lot of research into tracking protection lists, but I haven't yet found anything that tells you how to make them manually... I think this is how to do it, but I'm just inferring from this one.

Where %s.# is a string:

  • +d %s.1                Allow all requests to domain %s.1
  • +d %s.1 %s.2       Allow requests to domain %s.1 where the rest of the url includes %s.2
  • + %s.1                  Allow requests where, other than the domain, the url includes %s.1
  • -d %s.1                 Block all requests to domain %s.1
  • -d %s.1 %s.2        Block requests to domain %s.1 for files where the url includes %s.2
  • - %s.1                   Block requests where, other than the domain, the url includes %s.1

I have no idea whether this is right, and if anybody corrects this list I will modify it. Please help!

It is not my fault if your computer combusts. If this helped, press the /\ arrow over ↖there.

Does anyone know a way to push out tracking protection lists to clients on the network.  I don't see anything in group policy but I was wondering if there are alternative methods (ie. scripting or registry settings).

I installed IE11 in my machine .And also we migrating all our developed application (ASP .Net/ VS 2010) to work in IE11 .

But when i open (Developer tool (F12) -> Emulation) In that ,

While selecting "User agent string" i two different option

  1. Default
  2. Internet Explorer 11

Actually what difference between this two user agent string and too i am working in .Net

And i select "IE11" as a user agent option , most of my application working flawless (design) but if i select "Default" throwing lot of design oriented bugs.

Is there setting to be made in .Net framework or anything else

Because it should work in both "Default" and "IE11" user agent string

X-UA-Compatible meta tag - Support for future versions of IE

Hi There,

  • Problem Statement : We are using legacy system (Web application) developed in HTML + Javascript, which is working fine on all the lower versions of Internet Explorer till IE 8. But not on Internet Explorer 9,10 and 11.
  • Solution Approach :  To resolve the compatibility issue on IE 9,10,11,  we are using below meta tag in configuration file.

<httpProtocol>

            <customHeaders>

                <add name="X-UA-Compatible" value="IE=EmulateIE8" />

            </customHeaders>

        </httpProtocol>

We have hosted this application on windows server 2003(IIS6) and tested the website with this changes and it is working fine on IE 8,9,10 and 11 with OS Windows 7 and IE 10  with OS Windows 8.

  • Questions : We have below queries
  1. “X-UA-Compatible” meta tag will support in IE 12(future versions  of IE)?
  2. We are using “EmulateIE=8” content in meta tag, so will it support or not in future versions of IE?
  3. Is there any impact of hosting environment OS (like windows server 2008, windows server 2012) on compatible meta tag of IE and content “EmulateIE=8”? If yes then any Setting or Solution for that?
  4. Above IIS 7 versions, will it support “X-UA-Compatible” meta tag and content ” EmulateIE8”?

Thanks in advance

We are having problems using Exchange 2010 ECP on IE8/9/10 after applying update KB3038314 - When you go to "Manage my organization" IE will lock up trying to load a list of mailboxes.

This doesn't happen if KB3038314 isn't installed or when using firefox.  Is anyone else  having this issues?

Disabling TLSv1 per PCI requirements breaks IE 8-10

Since current PCI requirements make it necessary to disable TLSv1 support on your site to stay compliant anybody using IE 8-10 in it's default configuration will not be able to use those sites.

Is there any plan in place to patch IE 8-10 to enable TLSv1.1 and 1.2 by default?

Come June 30 2016 all sites that have to be PCI compliant will have to disable TLSv1. Killing access to those running IE 8-10.

IE really bites!

Why is my Chrome ALWAYS much quicker the my absolutely pathetic IE?  You would think that, after all the updates I've uploaded, at least some of them would make my IE work half way decently.

I shouldn't have to set my default to Chrome just to be able to use the internet.  But I haven't got the time or patience to wait until IE decides to do its thing. Lucky thing I have Google.

Thanks again Microsoft...

Automatic logon in intranet zone stopped working

$

So we have an ASP.NET application that requires authentication. All was working well until Friday, a week ago. Our desktop systems received the April patches the following weekend, and the servers were patched mid-week. The first complaint came after the servers were patched, but it may have existed before that. Now the situation is:

  • Using domain connected computer with IE, automatic logon results in a 401 (not authorized)
  • Using domain connected computer with any other browser, the user is prompted for credentials and system works
  • Using remote computer with any browser, including IE, and the user is prompted for credentials and the system works.

My gut feel is that there is an issue with the credentials that the client is presenting. The application of the patches and the occurrence of the issue could be coincidental, but would seem to have something to do with it. I could not find anything in the documentation that indicated that the patches involved authentication or authorization.

Since the issue does not occur on our SharePoint sites, which are in different subnets and running Server 2012, another alternative is that our central IT group messed about with the trust in various zones, but no one has indicated that has happened. Yet another option would be a change to the AD infrastructure. All servers exhibiting this issue are running Server 2008 R2.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

 John

IE11 - Can only close IE window by ending the process

Good Morning,

We have just updated our company to IE11. For some users, intermittently they cant close the IE window from either File-Exit or by clicking on the Red X at the top right hand corner. The only way they can close the window is by ending the process.

We have deleted the windows profiles to no avail.

We are running Windows 7-64. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Bryan.

Enterprise Mode site list and manual override

$

I have a small question / issue when using Enterprise Mode.

We have enabled it using GPO by specifying both a site list and the Enable settings for manual override. This works fine but I don't know how to reset the manual override if somebody flicks the EM mode for a specific site.

I just want to tell IE to forget all manual overrides and apply the sitelist as delivered.

I tried to look in the registry, in the %AppData% fodler, even cleared the IE cache but IE still remembers the user overrides.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks, Nic.

IE11 Enterprise Mode XML List

My clients do not load my enterprise list. I have tried the following...
1.Create a sites.xml file using the Site List Manager tool and store it on a web site accessible by all clients
2.Enabled the "Use the Enterprise Mode IE website list" group policy option and entered the appropriate URL to access the sites.xml file.
3.Verified that the client applied the policy

The Key get written to the Registry

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode]
"Enable"=""
"SiteList"="http://server.xxx/ie11/complist.xml"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode]
"Enable"=""
"SiteList"="http://server.xxx/ie11/CompList.xml"

But it does not seem like my list is being used.
According to this link https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/6c266558-a7f0-4169-a0a7-668899b1653e/ie-11-enterprise-mode-on-remote-desktop-server?forum=ieitprocurrentver
A key with the current version of the enterprise list should be created
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode]

(REG_SZ)"CurrentVersion"

How ever there is no EntpriseMode Key at that location. What else could I check?

I have run Internet Explorer for more than the 65 Seconds, also have already done multiple restarts but a current version key is not created.

EDIT: If I press alt and choose tools I don not see a option to use enterprise mode. Over Group Policy I have set enabled the settings "Let users turn on and user Enterprise Mode from the Tools menu" but I have not set a location URL where to recieve reports. What could the Problem be that Users can not Enable Enterprise Mode over the Tools menu? Do I have to set a URL even if I do not want to use reports yet?

IE 11 Enterprise Mode? Can it fake IE 10 functionality instead of IE 8?

$

We have intranet sites that were designed for IE 10.  When IE 11 is used, these sites do not display properly and when IE 8 is used, some functions are not supported by IE 8.

So, everyone uses IE 10 to deal with it and it prevents us from using Windows 8.1 since Windows 8.1 is IE 11 only.  This prevents roll out of new devices that do not support Windows 7 (for IE 10).

There are various formatting problems with IE 11 on our intranet. Some sites display as if IE 11 is a mobile or WAP browser or other "lite" modes and other intranet sites have other issues making it unacceptable.

I have heard of IE 11 "Enterprise Mode," but what I read about it makes it appear as if it lets IE 11 work as if it is IE 8.

However, since IE 8 doesn't support everything we need and IE 11 doesn't work either, we must have the browser work specifically as IE 10 on these intranet sites.

Is there any way via Group Policy or Enterprise Mode to configure IE 11 to display specific URLs or domains as if the browser is IE 10?

Cannot open some links

I clicked a bad page the other day and installed some malware. I [carefully] removed them manually, but perhaps I deleted a wrong registry key. Anyway, I'm left a little bit lame as I cannot open some links or pages, and I cannot restore previous versions of Windows.

Win 7 home
IE 11

Issues:
------------------
1. Wikipedia .png images will not respond at all to a left-click. I can open them by right-clicking.

2.  wordpress.com the reader link and a few other links hang.

generates the error Line: 4235
== Error: The system cannot find the file specified.

The line of code is ... if( !window.localStorage ){

3. System restore would not restore previous versions. It was unchecked in system, and I have since re-enabled it and allocated space. I have not tested it.

actions performed:
---------------------
- Googled for a day and a half
- tried re-registering dlls
- checked file associations
- reset security and settings in IE
- ran IE with no add ons
- ran IE in safe mode
- rolled back to IE 10 and reinstalled IE 11 (with much pain with failing updates needing manual uninstallations)

I am now at a loss at what to try next for the IE issues. Any help or ideas will be appreciated. I'd rather not reinstall or upgrade right now.

Thanks

John

Click on Favorites, Mouse Jumps Around, IE Locks Up for 30 Seconds

Hello all,

I am having a strange problem with Internet Explorer.  I have all of the latest MS patches for everything.  When I open Internet Explorer (I have version 11), and click on my favorites icon (the star icon in the top right), IE locks up on me for about 30 seconds.  It eventually comes back after that time and everything is normal, I have access to all of my favorites.  However, if I close IE and reopen it, the same thing happens again.  If I leave it open, the issue does not seem to happen in the same instance of IE.  I have tried clearing all of my temporary files with no change.  I did a packet capture and noticed that when I click on my favorites icon, my PC ARP's for an IP address that no longer exists on my network (my private LAN) - it ARP's about 15-20 times and stops exactly when IE returns to normal.  So the two events sync up.  I did find some entries for this particular IP address under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU" and I have deleted them and rebooted.  I cannot find any reference to this IP anywhere else in the registry.  This IP address used to be a NAS drive that I had - accessed via backslash-backslash-sharename - but I decommissioned it.  I'm out of ideas here - anybody ever run into this or have any suggestions?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
