res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# error within use of HP PPM

Howdy,

I am looking for possible avenues of assistance.

Info: IE11, though it happens on multiple versions of IE (8, 10 and 11)

Windows 7

Recently moved to Office 365

Security is MacAfee Agent and Symantec Endpoint

I am not an administrator (work computer) and I want to give the help desk the most information possible so that I do not have to clear my cookies, restart IE or other such nonsense. I have tried those base level items ad nauseum. I need direction to know where to look, please and thank you.

Issue is occurring across multiple users within the HP PPM product. We have not been receiving patches from HP due to a business decision.

Error we receive is  res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# as the base on every error whether is is an action, a save or trying to upload a document.

Any assistance or avenues that you can provide would be awesome.

Thanks,

JJJ

IE11 - Can only close IE window by ending the process

Good Morning,

We have just updated our company to IE11. For some users, intermittently they cant close the IE window from either File-Exit or by clicking on the Red X at the top right hand corner. The only way they can close the window is by ending the process.

We have deleted the windows profiles to no avail.

We are running Windows 7-64. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Bryan.

Internet Explorer update KB3038314

My HP TouchSmart 610 computer running Windows 7 (1) Home Premium refuses to update with Internet Explorer KB3038314. Giving error code 80092004. There does not seem any record of that error existing. I have tried all the tools, even tried the upgrade trick with the original CDROM.

After two days hard work trying to get the computer back up to date, I found I was back to square one, with the computer refusing to load this update.

Cannot add search provider or other accelerators to IE9

Hi, I have a fresh install of Win7x64 with IE9.  I am trying to add other search providers and accelerators to IE9.  When I go to the websitewww.ieaddons.com or www.iegallery.com basically click through to the page like the one here:

I click the orange 'Add to Internet Explorer' button and nothing happens. I know I should get a pop up window that allows me to actually add the add on, but nothing happens. This is withevery add on I've tried on the website.  I've tried uninstalling IE9 and reverting back to IE8 but got the same result there as well.  I re-installed IE9 again and still the same.  I reset IE9 several times and that didn't work.  I also disabled all addons, nothing is working.  This is really frustrating... please can anyone help??

Can't get Java (JRE8U45) to work on IE11

Hello, I must be missing something simple here but I have been unable to get any page requiring Java to load in Internet Explorer 11, at least on machines running Windows 7. I have tried it with multiple machines, all fully patched and up to date and can not even get the Java Version Check page to load, I am just told that Java is disabled or not installed. The latest version of chrome, will load Java pages on the same machines (after enabling the npapi plugin flag).

IE tells me the plugins are incompatible if I run it normally, if I right click it and run it as an Administrator, then it allows me to enable the plugins but the Java Version Check site still tells me they are not installed. I have tried running the version check in compatibility mode as well as regular mode and in either case I can just not get these plugins to work.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what I might be missing here?

IE 11 not able to add Search Provider

This is brand new Windows 8.1 install, freshly installed O365 and all critical updates installed.

So I click on the gear in IE, select Manage add-ons.

This opens the Manage Add-ons window, I click on Search providers, it only shows Bing.

I click on Find more search providers... at the bottom of the window, this opens IE with a list of the search engines. I click on Google, which loads the google search page.  When I click the Add to Internet Explorer button nothing happen, nothing gets added, no message gets display, NOTHING.

I see the button wants to run a javascript, so I go back in add this site to trusted sites, thinking that will allow it to run.  Close browser, re-open, try again, same outcome .... NOTHING.

So next I go and reduce the security level to low for trusted sites, figuring this will allow the script to fire off.  No luck, still nothing.

Next I go to windows features, un check IE 11, reboot, go back in again check IE 11.  Try it again, still nothing.

Finally I installed the Google Toolbar for IE check the box for making google the default search, after install reboot, guess what .... still nothing but Bing listed in search providers.

Is there another way to repair IE 11 on Windows 8.1?  I have done this many times in the past, why now is this such an issue? Can I manually put this into the registry?

IE 11 Crashes Constantly on Win RT, 8.x

$

So, I've seen a bunch of posts where the moderator marks something as the "solution" when it doesn't seem to resolve the issue and so I felt the need to post on this subject again. I've had a lot of frustration, and I really want to use IE 11, not to mention it's our corporate standard and if something isn't done before EOL next January, our end user support folks are going to be in a world of hurt.

Here is my situation. I've used IE 11 on several versions of Windows. I've used it on Windows 10 Technical Preview too, but since that's not in production, I'll ignore it for now.

IE11 crashes constantly. It crashes when the only thing open is a blank tab. It crashes on Bing.com. It crashes on Microsoft.com and Outlook.com. It crashes when I open Office365. It crashes on pretty much every major website and that's when it's not otherwise misbehaving - like when it won't open links in a new tab (it particularly doesn't like to open TechNet links from google.com.)

I have used it on at least the following device/OS/application combinations and the truth is, even before I had all the applications installed, it still gave me problems. My point with this is that if it doesn't work on the default install on a Surface Pro 3 with nothing else installed, and it doesn't work after I reset it twice, I just can't imagine that another reset is going to change anything and I don't see a single application common among the all of machines I've used.

I am not the only person I know who is having similar issues, though most of our users who are on Win 8.1 just give up and use Chrome.

The only thing that I know which can cause issues, (because I happened to have one of the MSFT debuggers installed on one of my machines,) is Flash, which is part of the default install now. The problem is that I almost always have Flash disabled. On the odd chance that I need it, I will enable it and then disable it when I'm done, but IE 11 still crashes despite that.

Device/OS/App combos:

Surface RT - No apps installed

HP EliteBook 8740w - Win 8.1 Ent - Avast AV, Chrome, VLC Media Player, Microsoft Flight Simulator

x3 (Original install once and two device resets) - Surface Pro 3 - Win 8.1 Pro - Default Microsoft Install

Surface Pro 3 - Win 8.1 Pro - Default Microsoft Install with Trend AV. No other applications.

Surface Pro 3 - Default Win 8.1 Pro Install from .iso from Microsoft Premier Support - No AV or other applications installed

Surface Pro 3 - Default Win 8.1 Ent Install from .iso - No AV or other applications installed

Surface Pro 3 - Win 8.1 Ent - Base Corporate Image w/ Office 2013, Trend OfficeScan, RSAT, SQL Management Studio, SCCM 2012 R2 Console, VMware plug-in, Junos Pulse VPN Client, SCCM Client, MBAM Agent

Lenovo T430 - Win 8.1 Ent - Base Corporate Image w/ Office 2013, Trend OfficeScan, RSAT, SQL Management Studio, SCCM 2012 R2 Console, VMware plug-in, Junos Pulse VPN Client, SCCM Client, MBAM Agent

Lenovo T420 - Windows 8.1 Enterprise - Base install w/ Office 2013, Trend OfficeScan, RSAT, SQL Management Studio, SCCM 2012 R2 Console, Chrome, VMware plug-in, Microsoft Visio, Junos Pulse VPN client, MBAM Agent

For good measure, I have problems with IE 11 on my HTC One M8 with WinPhone 8.1. That's probably best saved for a different post.

I'm looking for either a solution or some thoughts on what I can try. Unfortunately I'm under pressure to complete a lot of tasks at this point in time and while I'm very interested in finding a resolution and will do my best to keep up with any suggestions, please understand if I don't respond immediately.

Thanks.

Issue with IE 8

Hi,

I am receiving below error, when trying to open a client website.

"Load denied by X-Frame-Options: <https://*********************> does not permit cross-origin framing."

Can anyone help with some troubleshooting steps.

IE11 CORS issue HTTPS to HTTP.

I am trying to call a http local service on port 8080 from our web app which is https through Ajax. IE11.0.9600.17691 continuously gives a Access is denied error. The call I make from the HTTPS page is like http://127.0.0.1:8080/functionname.

I have seen people being able to do this type of call(https to http), however I have never been able to get a success. I have put a breakpoint in Developer tools and the local http server is never even called. There is no pre-flight request too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My version of jquery is jquery/1.10.2.

Why can't i install adblocker?

My question is simple. Why can't i install ad-blocker to IE 11? For some time now i am searching for a comfortable browsing environment, Chrome is to in your face, Firefox is a total patchwork, Opera seems to much like a Chrome knockoff so i said i'd give IE a try, but what i found was a total lack of bare minimum of add-ons needed, top of the list being or ad-blocker like extension.

Can't add google search provider to IE11

Hello.

I am trying to add Google as a search provider to IE11. I go to iegallery.com and find google and click "Add to Internet Explorer" but nothing happens. This is the code behind the link:

javascript:BrowserDetectionAddonInstallSearch('/en-ca/AddOns/DownloadAddOn?resourceId=813','False', '813', '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000');

I have tried adding iegallery.com to trusted sites, turning off ie popup blocker, and adding the site to compatibility mode, but none of these have worked.

Thanks for the help!

IE9 Package with all patches

I need to deploy IE9 (10, 11 also) to some remote locations that have very slow links.  The plan is to ship them USB Thumb drives.  I don't want them to have to download patches/updates because the links in these locations are too slow.  Is there a way to create some sort of package that contains the browswer install and patches all together?  Requiring only one reboot would be ideal.

Thanks,

John

My HTML prefers the upper right corner - why?

I have written a multi-page website. Each has the right side cut off. The whole page seems to float up to the upper-right corner and then gets lost in the scroll bars.

Even when I do  a "wrapper" div for the whole page with:

 width: 100%;
 min-width: 740px;
 max-width: 1500px;
 margin: 0 auto;
 padding-left:2%;
 padding-right:2%;

and "body-main" with css max-width 94%, the left side gets a wider margin and the right side still gets cut-off.

IE9 : Do you want to Open or Save this file prompt

Hi,

I understand there have been a few people who have asked this, but I can't seem to find a definite answer on this.

1. Can this be disabled?

2. If not, why not? What is the security feature or concept behind this prompt making it not possible to to be turned off?

3. If this can't be turned off, what do Microsoft recommend to customers in enterprise environments who have this requirement?  An e.g. is, a SAP database user who regularly has to download numerous pdf/docx files, but this prompt only makes the user environment worse. It sure is very much understandable that regularly downloading files from a particular link, becomes annoying to the user if he/she has to click this prompt every time.

Thanks & Regards,

Install IE 11?

$

I accidentally installed IE 11 when it became available and did not like it, and I reverted back to IE 10 using methods described on Microsoft.  Well, it never worked correctly after that, but was still using it.  After several months, it wouldn't load and when I went to look for it in installed programs, is not listed.

Now I see that it is listed in Microsoft Update and want to know if I can install it even though it's not working and not listed installed programs.  Will I have any problems by trying to install it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
