IE 11 won't install (Error 9C47 and 9C57)

When i searched the posts, this problem seems to be a never ending story.

We have one PC in our network where we cannot install IE11. The PC is running Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit (German language). IE9 was successfully installed via WSUS in the past. The installation of IE11 via WSUS failed. We did not bother about that for some time but now we need IE11 on this machine.

In the log there is on significant error:

00:08.471: INFO:    KB2729094 could not be download is not installed.

After that the installation stops.

According to the troubleshooting guide https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2872074/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0 we tried a manual installation of the prerequisites. The named KB2729094 was successfully installed but the installation states the same error.

All other prerequisites could not be manually installed because the installer sayd that the update does not fit our System but the versions we downloaded were the correct 64-Bit versions.

We tried an installation with an ie11 installation package we downloaded from microsoft. When we did this, we got other errors in the log file:

00:25.834: INFO:    Waiting for 9 prerequisite downloads.
00:27.581: INFO:    Prerequisite download processes have completed. Starting Installation of 9 prerequisites.
00:27.643: INFO:    Launched package installation: C:\Windows\SysNative\dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\TEMP\IE1B24E.tmp\KB2834140\Windows6.1-KB2834140-v2-x64.cab /quiet /norestart

00:48.797: ERROR:   Error installing prerequisite file (C:\Windows\TEMP\IE1B24E.tmp\KB2834140_amd64.MSU): 0x800f081e (2148468766)

01:08.172: INFO:    Setup exit code: 0x00009C57 (40023) - Prerequisites failed to install.

Interesting enough is that the Update KB2729094 that was mentioned above was not downloaded as prerequisite because it was alreade installed.

We got stuck here. Any suggestions beyond the troubleshooting guide?

Thanks in advance

Michael

I have a legacy web app(IE-7 compatible mode) that works fine in IE11 on my desktop. But it doesn't work on my company's desktop. I noticed Enterprise Mode in the Tools menu and I switched around but it still doesn't work. However, when i open the developer tools, it works fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sam

How do I automatically enable all add ons for Internet Explorer 11?

When I launch IE for the first time it will ask to enable add ons I haev for it. I can manually do this which is fine, but I have 100s of computers I deploy every couple months or so. I was wondering is there a way I can have IE automatically enable those addons when I launch it? The addons are Java 8 addons and Lync communication addons.

Thank you

Evertime I add to my Favorite, it adds it to the bottom which IS how I want it. However, evertime I shut down and reboot - IE8 reshuffles my Favorites inAlpabetical order? How do I stop this??????

I tried the following procedure as suggested by Yog Li:

I Right clicked the Start Button and selected Properties

I Clicked on the CUstomize button

I clicked on the Advanced tab and scrooled down to look for "Sort All Programs Menu" to uncheck

***** HOWEVER WHEN SCROLLING DOWN I DID NOT FIND SUCH A COMMAND TO UNCHECK *****

How come I can not find such a command??I am using IE Version 8. Where do I go from here???

Yog Li, what do I do to stop this alphabeizing of my Favorites?? I like my favorites in a particular order and not all the time I want it alphabetized. I did not even want this. It just happened one day. Why did it happen?? This is driving me crazy!! Can you or someone please help me???!!

IE10 CacheLimit (Disk space to be used) IEAK 10

Hi,

I`m trying to deploy IE 10 for a few machines and the only requisite is to set the "Disk space to be used" setting to use max of 65MB.

Tried IEAK10 but it seems to put the value in KB. After install when i open Internet Settings i see the value 65537 and  it tells me that value is too high then changes to 1024MB (1GB).

Eg. If i set 1MB (the minimum) in IEAK after the installation i'll see 1024MB in Internet Settings > Configurations. So i`m not able to set less than 1GB max cache size...

Found on INETCORP.INF the sections below. Tried to change all those values manually in regedit but still not working.

[AddRegSection.HKLM]
HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content","CacheLimit",0x10001,0,4,0,0
HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache","UserProfiles",0x10001,1,0,0,0
HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content","PerUserItem",0x10001,1,0,0,0
[AddRegSection.HKCU]
HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings","SyncMode5",0x10001,4,0,0,0
HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content","CacheLimit",0x10001,0,4,0,0

Any idea on how to deploy those IE 10 settings?

Screen Flicker IE 11

IE does not want to function properly. The screen flickers and sometimes the webpage is completely white. No amount of reloading or closing and reopening the program fixes the problem. The more annoying thing is I can't use FireFox because it doesn't understand that I already have Flash player because I have Windows 8.1!! Please help!

Some Pages not Loading

Can't get the weather.com page for local weather or local maps to load on ie 11 but are working on firefox. This just started 2 days ago when 50% of all my preferred sites stopped loading; all have returned except the weather.com site. There was also a severe rain storm that happened at the same time but don't know how that could affect this page from loading: http://www.weather.com/weather/today/l/Bell+FL+32619.  Any help is appreciated.

IE - This page cannot be displayed

For several releases if IE (8, 9, and 10), I have been unable to get IE to display any web page. Firefox and Chrome on the same machine can access all web pages with no problems.

I would really love to get this problem with IE resolved. I've read a ton of other notes various places and tried a lot of things with no success.

Config Sony Vaio running Win 7 Home Premium with all the latest updates (64 bit), Now IE 10 is installed. No proxy server in use. Current Java release installed.

Here's what I have already tried and none of these things have fixed the problem:

1) unchecked all tabs on Internet Options/Connections; also disabled and enabled (with reboots in between) Protected Mode

2) Change Internet Zone to security level Medium

3) Reset TCP/IP and Winsock via these commands:

- netsh int ip reset reset.log

- netsh netsh winsock reset catalog

4) Deleted the Wired Ethernet adapter via Device Manager and rebooted to allow it to be re-created.

Here's the error I get from IE10 on initial startup and also on any other web page I try like CNN.com or abcnews.com:

This page can't be displayed
  • Make sure the web address http://go.microsoft.comis correct.
  • Look for the page with your search engine.
  • Refresh the page in a few minutes.

There is a Fix connection problems button, but when it is executed, it says Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem. And looking at the detail, it says no issues detected.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Not get the Do you want to Open, Save, or Cancel .ICA files or simular files without IE plugin

Hi,

I have a problem with the "Always ask before opening this type of file" function in Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 8.1.

The problem is; when the Citrix receiver from Windows store is configured to open ICA files and we log into a webinterface or storefront server in IE, users  is prompted to either Open, Save or Cancel the ica file. I am not able to uncheck the "Always ask before opening this type of file" after downloading the file. I can do thios on other file types like 7z Files. For me it seems like Windows have a whitelist of safe files, and .ica is not one of them.

Is there a way to be able to have .ica files to open auto, without the plugin in IE?

Registry key for default browser

Hello all,

I have Win 7 with IE 10 installed. When I set FF or Chrome to be my default browser I find that it updates the value of \\HKCR\.htm, \\HKCR\.html and \\HKCR\http keys in the registry. However when I set IE to be my default browser (either using IE -> Internet Options or Control Panel -> Default Programs) these values are not updated. However Windows is still able to determine that .htm files are to be opened with IE. How does Windows determine that? It must be referring to some registry key. Which one is that?

Please note that I am not asking how to make IE the default browser. I know how to do that. I just want to know how Windows knows that IE is the default browser. There are quite a few posts out there which have an answer but unfortunately none of the answers I found was correct - All answers mention that the \\HKCR\http key is updated which doesn't actually happen.

Thanks and regards,

Pradyumna

IE11 - Default timeout values

0

Hi all,

After deploying IE11 in our organization, we have several web applications that are displaying"<webpage> is not responding" on long(er) running server-side actions. The data is being returned eventually, however with IE11 displaying this message, our end-users are under the impressions that the browser is stuck (and will always hit the Recover webpage button in the not responding dialog).

We also tested this on a modern.ie VM (W7 with IE11) without any of our corporate policies, settings or other management tools and the issue also occurs on the Microsoft VM's.

The supplier of the application discards this behavior on IE (IE is more "sensitive"), however I cannot determine the default settings for the IE browser. And before I apply a quick and dirty solution, I first want to ensure there is nothing wrong in our configuration/network/DNS/routing to these application servers.

Therefore, I would like to know the default values in the IE11 browser for:

  • KeepAliveTimeout
  • ServerInfotimeout
  • Receivetimeout

Does anyone know these for IE11?

I can only find KB articles for older version of the browser (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181050 /http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813827 ) and I can't find/don't know if they also applicable on IE11.

Our corporate workstations run Windows 7 x64, with IE11 (on patchlevel 11.0.14 / KB3003057)

Hi Guys,

There is one application in my environment only compatible with IE8. But the IE on the clients are always auto updated by Windows update enabled. I found tools disable the IE update from Microsoft. But it seemed didn't work. Below is the registry key added in the client.

Cannot install any version of IE

Hi there,

I am having some issues with one of our Terminal Servers, which is running Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit. It did have IE9 installed and when tried to upgrade this to IE10 or IE11 it was failing with the error "Internet Explorer did not finish installing".

There is no much helpful info in the event logs either.

So, following some other advice on here, I was pointed to the fact it could be that IE9 was corrupt and could be upgraded. I was advised to remove IE9 and try installing it again and then go through the upgrade process. However, there is an issue here. Once IE9 was removed (through Uninstall an update in Control Panel), IE8 wasn't there. I still cannot install IE 9, 10 or 11 on this server now. What's also a concern is that now I cannot open Event Viewer or any other MMC as it shows an error about MMC will not run with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than IE 5.5.

Any tips or ideas on how to resolve this?

IE does not update keys in registry

Hello experts,

I observed that when we set IE to be the default browser it does not update the \\HKCR\.htm and \\HKCR\.html keys in the windows registry. It doesn't update these keys even when we associate file types .htm and .html with IE. Ideally it should. Is this a known issue? Do you have any plans to fix it?

Thanks and regards,
