Exclude an IntrAnet Site from Enterprise Mode (IE11)

0
0

Hello,

So the scenario...

We have IE11 deployed and have enabled "Display IntrAnet sites in Compatibility View" to all users - this seems to work well for our environment.  Turning this setting off however would likely mean some services would not work as expected...

We are about to introduce a new service which will sit in the Intranet zone but apparently there are issues when the site is loaded in compatibility mode (which it is forced to do so because of the setting mention above), so we have been asked to exclude the site from EM.

The only way I can think of doing this is to add the site to the trusted sites zone....but apparently the site needs to remain in the Intranet zone.

does anyone know of a way to exclude the site from enterprise mode considering the above scenario?

Many thanks for your time

Carl

We were using internet explorer 9 in our production environment but then client requirement came for Internet Explorer 11 so we manually installed internet explorer 11 on that machine running windows server 2008 r2 with sharepoint 2010.we also installed KB3008923 update for internet explorer 11.But since when we installed internet explorer 11 with this update the vertical scrollbar which was coming on our sites has disappeared.

We installed KB3008923 update for internet explorer 11 because without it in Internet Explorer 11 there was no DOM Explorer in IE Developer Toolbar.

Require urgent help.

Unable to uninstall IE10

Hi All,

We have a client who runs Server 2012(non R2) and it looks like at some point the have tried to remove IE10 from the server. I can only assume it didn't go well as it is still there in C:\Program Files but we can not run it. When we double click on it the program doesn't open and no process is running. When we try to install IE10 again it gives an error reporting that a newer version is installed (We are using 10.0.9200.16521 installer). We have tried removing IE10 by using the following command in an elevated command prompt.

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*10.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

and rebooting after the fact but it still does not work. We do get an error Operation failed with 0x80070005 Access is denied.

When we run it with the quiet switch we don't get the error but even after the reboot it still is not removed.

Any advice would be great thanks.

Pages are not being displayed properly with automatic proxy configuration in IE11

Hello

we provide a proxy-service for some customers. We have two of them, that have some strange issues.

If they activate their automatic configuration script in IE11 some pages (like google maps) are not displayed correctly. We already checked the wpad. Unfortunately the problem occurs with a simple wpad without any special settings too.

If we deactivate the automatic configuration everything is fine.
The problem occurs only with the automatic configuration, not with the "normal" proxy settings.

I already tried to activate/deactivate the compatibility mode for IE. Unfortunately without success.

With IE 9, the problem does not occur.
The operating system is windows 7 enterprise x64

Can't Open FTP Site in File Explorer

After installing Google Chrome, the option in Internet Explorer to Open FTP Site in File Explorer is not working. Click the drop down arrow on the Page button and select the option "Open FTP Site in File Explorer" and no explorer dialog box appears; nothing appears. Internet Explorer 11 is the default web browser and the OperatingSystem is Windows 7 Pro.

Steps taken to resolve:

1. Verified FTP folder view and Use Passive FTP is enabled in Internet Explorer.  Tools > Internet Options> Advanced > Browser

2. Opened the website in Compatibility View.

3.  Reset the Internet Explorer settings in Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

4.  Temporarily disabled the firewall

Release to windows update for kb3025945 (to fix IE9 problems after ms14-080 kb3008923)?

Hello

We had so many IE9 issues with it we removed ms14-080 kb3008923 (via WSUS), and decided to wait for a fix.

I noticed this which sounds promising:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/askie/archive/2015/01/13/update-3025945-now-available-for-the-ie9-crashing-scenario-after-ms14-080-is-installed-from-some-applications.aspx

Unfortunately only a manual update though.

Does anyone know if it is planned to publish it through the windows update/WSUS channel and if so what sort of time scale?

Need to decide whether to push it via SCCM or wait for a "proper" release...

Cheers.

Andy

one link opens in minimized window

Hi,

the client application has a library with a links. Some of them open in the client interface but most of them in IE.

There is a problem with one Link that actually opens IE but the window is minimized right after opening.

I need to demystify this...

The difference between opened browser window and minimized (after maximizing it) is:

Opened normally browser is the window with address bar and buttons (just full browser).

Opened in minimized mode is "locked" to not have all the above features. Just has Internet Explorer name in window frame.

The app that I am using is a Virtual Package. I saw one example where the same app is installed locally (not virtualized) opens the link that is minimized in my case normally. I would check closely both cases.

The IE versions are different in my example. Mine is IE8 other was 10.

Personally, I don't think that virtualized app may have any impact. The app calls local IE.

I am not an expert in HTML codding, but I believe there is something in page creation that push the window to minimize.

What it could be? Why the page minimized and why the window that is minimized is "locked"?

Thanks.

IE11 Load icon does not work on some login pages

Hi ,

We have a peculiar issue using IE10/IE11. For some of my company intranet sites, We have to provide user name and password to login. When we provide the credentials and click on login , the load icon(the small rotating circle) does not show up. Instead it remains static causing the confusion to the user whether the login button has been clicked or not. i.e., when the login button is clicked , the web page remains static with no load icon getting displayed.

The same site works fine on chrome, as the page displays the loading icon after the login button is clicked on.

Can any one help me on this, as this is the complaint raised by few of the users.

Issues with Server 2008 R2 GPO Settings Being Applied To Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7

We are working on a new domain and I'm trying to figure out how to populate the default Home page, Trusted Sites and the Proxy now that Microsoft has removed the IEM from the GPO's.

I have created a standalone policy that only has these items set in the User Configuration Preferences and the settings are not updating for my test user account on the test system.  I see the policy is being applied without any errors.  The only other GPO that is being applied to this system is the Default Domain Policy and it is at the default settings.

Why would Microsoft take away such a basic and fundamental administrative function?  I'm trying to figure this out before all support ends for the older versions of IE in January, 2016.  I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get this configured so I don't have to touch every system.

Hello everybody,

With late, I have just discovered the IE11 Enterprise mode.

In order to test it, I created an OU or I applied two GPO for enable IE Enterprise mode.

On the target computer, I see that the GPO has enable, again, if I look in the registry, I found two key inHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode

When i launch Internet Explorer, if I go to "Tools" I can not find mode "Enterprise". Also, if I go to the site on the list, none works in compatibility mode

Any idea where I could sin? I have install the update KB2929437 thinking it was because of that, but it's not better If you have ideas / solutions.

Thanks

How to edit IE8 security certificate?

0

Can anyone tell me how to add additional secondary DNS servers to an internet explorer 8 security certificate? I have a friend who is still running Windows XP and IE8, and wants to access gmail.  Google has revoked security certificates for IE8 and left a message that IE8 is basically so old that it is no longer compatible. However, it seems to work fine, just with security certificate violation warnings coming up all the time.

So, I followed instructions to put my own security certificate in place, and have run into a problem that the certificate is for mail.google.com, but what shows up in the naviagation bar is gmail.com - there is a redirect going on at google.

There appears to be a place on the security certificate to put in secondary DNS's, and it already has some such as inbox.google.com, and so on.  But I cannot see how to add in "gmail.com"  There's an "edit" button on the certificate details, but it is greyed out.   Can anyone tell me how to do edits on the security certificate?

Thank you.

I manually associate .asp file type to use Internet Explorer as 'Current Default' but some how it keeps switching back to 'Unknown Application'. Is there a way to force it default 'Internet Explorer'? this needs to be done either by registry hack or GPO. I am not a developer, thanks.

Basic vs Negotiate Authentication.

0

Good Day.

I am observing different behaviour on several client PCs; it looks like different versions of Ie.

if a website is protected as follows  - what are the decision matrices used by IE to select either Basic or Negotiate, assuming it can do both ?

I have some PCs on a domain,  W8+ie10 - uses basic,  W7+IE9 uses negotiate.  In all cases they are in Internet Sites with Integrated Authentication,   they do NOT have kerberos tickets for the domain being logged onto and we are using "Automatic Logon with Current User and Password".   It appears there is a setting or change in versions that forces IE to incorrectly select Negotiate when it should use basic.

The question is, what has changed ?  I tried ETS tracing on WinInet but all it told me was it had selected Negotiate or Basic, but not WHY.   Second Question : is there tracing logic to see why it is picking one or the other ?

FEATURE_DISABLE_INTERNAL_SECURITY_MANAGER Registry Key setting

Hey everyone

I needed to add this registry key to IE11 in order to work around an issue that broke modal dialogs in JavaScript. I found the workaround in this post:

H TEE TEE P ESS COLON BACKSLASH BACKSLACH  social DOT technet DOT microsoft DOT com/Forums/en-US/db748198-05f2-48b2-a2f4-33b3f7ed71b7/help-kb3008923-breaks-windowdialogarguments-in-secondary-windows?forum=ieitprocurrentver

(Sorry, the forum won't let me post a link.)

This article blames KB3008923 for the issue, however I checked on my end users' machines and they did not have this update installed. Despite not having this update installed, the workaround resolves their problem.

Unfortunately, there is no information out there about the ramifications of adding this registry key. I am concerned it may open IE11 to some security vulnerabilities.  Can someone please explain what this setting does or point me to a resource that explains this?

Thanks,

Dave

IE 11 Enterprise Mode on Remote Desktop Server

Hi,

I've enabled IE11 Enterprise Mode and setup an XML-file on a fileshare which I've created using "Enterprise Mode Site List manager".

When I logon with my test-user and launc IE, after aprox 65 seconds I get the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\internet explorer\Main\EnterPriseMode\ CurrentVersion string updated to the current version of my XML-file. I can then browse the sites and verify that Enterprise Mode is enabled for the sites that I have specified in my XML-file

The problems I'm facing is that if I logout my user and then log back on again to the server and start IE and brwose the sites Enterprise Mode is no longer enabled for them. Also if my user has manually specified some sites for enterprise mode this does not live between sessions.

Where in the profile does IE EM store the data over which websites that are supposed to be in entprise mode? I've found under AppData\Local\ EmieSiteList and EmieUserList but theese 2 catalogs only contains "container.dat" which is 0 KB?

Anyone know? Has anyone gotten IE EM to work in RDS?

Regards

Jonas
