Hi,

I'm experiencing errors on 3 machines with the following entry in the eventlog;

Faulting process id: 0x13c4

Faulting module path:
C:\Windows\system32\MSHTML.dll
Report Id:

I understand that this may be a generic error message but it's quite annoying for our users and can affect them throughout the day, would anyone be able to shed some fault finding procedures I can undertake to look into this ?

iexplore.exe and iexplore.exe*32 running together in Task Manager

Hello everyone,

I have a Windows 7 64bit client and when I kick off IE10 I noticed in Task Manager that both iexplore.exe and iexplore.exe*32 are running at the same time; now I thought that it was add-on or add-ons but after I disabling all of them I still get the same thing. Could it be a Local Policy in place or maybe an advance setting that I am missing? Not sure where to look now.

IE 11 with Language Packs

Hi All,

Is there a way to install IE 11 with language packs where the language packs don't get downloaded using internet. I am trying to deploy IE 11 using System center configuration manager 2012 R2 & i wanted to create a package for IE 11 with all language packs & it should be like IE 11 gets installed with the provided language packs without going over to the internet.

Is there a way to achieve this ?

Thanks,

Pranay.

Why does RuntimeBroker.exe start AFTER the last iexplore.exe exits?

How to disable "Do you want to open or save..." popup in IE10?

$

Our company web application UI invokes creation of an excel file by pressing a button on modal dialog. It creates an excel file and tries to open it by Microsoft Excel. The problem is, IE10 brings "Do you want to open..." yellow popup at the bottom of the screen, and this popup is unavailable, because of modal dialog the excel file creation was launched from. Only when this modal dialog is closed yellow popup became available.

Being not sure if this problem has a resolution without of application redesign, I was thinking about to disable the yellow popup at all. Is it possible? Any ideas?

IE Opening blank white tabs when a link opens a new tab

$

Internet Explorer will open up and display the first page fine. It's anything that attempts to open a new tab that is the problem. I have two machines one running IE 9 the other IE 11, both Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit.

I thought maybe it was a user account problem, but both users can go to another machine and not have a problem. One of these PC's started having this problem immediately after reloading the PC after a hard drive crash. The image used has been installed on well over 500 systems at this point with no other reports of this happening.

If I right click and choose open with a new window instead, nothing happens.

I've seen similar articles relating to KB2964358, KB2929437, KB2919355, or KB2964444, but that seems to be for IE just opening a blank white page initially. I did try these to no avail.

Another browser isn't an option. Many of the sites these users need to get to only work properly with IE, and more importantly every attempt is made by our organization to prevent end users from using other browsers.

Hi All,

One of our user is having an issue with the below website:

https://business.car2go.com/de/frankfurt/registration/#

The problem is that the logon page will not display the page loads but with errors Below is the error we recieve:

Webpage error details

Message: 'console' is undefined

Code: 0
URI: https://business.car2go.com/common/scripts/common/c2g.js?5

I checked the page on Chrome and had no issue and after some investigation I found the link below and it appears that this is caused by the console.log in javascript which IE 9 has a problem with

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7742781/why-javascript-only-works-after-opening-developer-tools-in-ie-once

If I open the page with developer tools it works fine however is there any way of making the page work without opening these tools as the external vendor is not willing to change there web code.

Thanks

IE9 Ignoring AlwaysUseDefaultPrinter

$

Hi,

I have a custom built web application that was working perfectly under IE8.  Since installing IE9 however one piece of the application is now broken.  The application needs to realize that the windows default printer has changed.  By default if you change the default printer with IE open, it doesn't realize that it has changed and wants to print to the printer that was default when it was opened.  There is some documentation from microsoft with a fix for this issue.  The fix was to add a registry key "AlwaysUseDefaultPrinter", and it corrected the problem in IE8 so that when printing from IE, it would select the default printer first even if it had been changed.  Since installing IE9 however, this has seemed to have broken.  IE9 doesn't seem to realize that registry key and wants to still print to the printer that was originally the default when it was opened.

I need a way to get IE9 to realize that the default printer has changed without having to close and re-open the browser.  Any help?

Exclude an IntrAnet Site from Enterprise Mode (IE11)

$

Hello,

So the scenario...

We have IE11 deployed and have enabled "Display IntrAnet sites in Compatibility View" to all users - this seems to work well for our environment.  Turning this setting off however would likely mean some services would not work as expected...

We are about to introduce a new service which will sit in the Intranet zone but apparently there are issues when the site is loaded in compatibility mode (which it is forced to do so because of the setting mention above), so we have been asked to exclude the site from EM.

The only way I can think of doing this is to add the site to the trusted sites zone....but apparently the site needs to remain in the Intranet zone.

does anyone know of a way to exclude the site from enterprise mode considering the above scenario?

Many thanks for your time

Carl

please find the attached screenshots from below url.

This is occurring in most of the websites and also you can observe the same error in "http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie" and you can observe it inIE11 browser only. please check the attached screenshot. ( http://screencast.com/t/jBez3nNpbfF )

I also developed a MVC .Net application and getting the same console exception While clicking any submit button or hyperlink and itsonly showing in IE11 browser console.

Can you let me know why this is happening? Is it going to affect the rendering or the page load speed?

Unable to add search provider via "Internet Explorer gallery" on IE8

Seems there is a problem with adding a search provider via Internet Exlorer gallery as all the links for the search providers are not working. Whether you I try to add google, yahoo, wikipedia or even bing (although bing is the default search provider  I'm trying to change). When you click on "Find more providers" on the drop down options on the top right corner of the internet page, it links to this page- http://www.iegallery.com/en-gb/AddonsIE7 which has all the list of search providers. However the "Add to Internet Explorer" links on all the providers listed do not work.

I contacted the Answer Desk to report this and they were everything but helpful. They advised me to reset my IE8, restart it and try to add the search provider again and that didn't work. When I tried to explain the problem was with the webpage they kept saying the page does not belong to microsoft which is really weird since "©2015 Microsoft" is written at the bottom of the page. I got other colleagues including some at different locations and they seem to have the same problem.

I found a resolution to the problem on my own though and it looks like everything may have been moved to a different webpage. If you go via http://www.iegallery.com/AddonsIE7 instead, all the links seem to work just fine and I was able to add google and wikipedia as search providers. Unfortunately. IE8 comes configured to direct to the "en-gb" website when you tell it to Find more providers. So if you are having this problem just like I did, just remove the en-gb/ and you should be fine. Hope Microsoft fix this problem soon!!!!

Internet Explorer SSL/TLS settings disabled

Recently, we ran a pilot where FIPS-compliance mode was enabled on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32-bit computers.  Specifically, the "System cryptography: Use FIPS-compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" security option was set to Enabled.  The pilot is over and we turned off FIPS-compliance mode.

Since doing that, I have noticed that the SSL/TLS settings in Internet Explorer 9 are disabled on computers that were part of the pilot.  I know the defaults are:

  • SSL 2.0 : off
  • SSL 3.0 : on
  • TLS 1.0 : on
  • TLS 1.1 : off
  • TLS 1.2 : off

Now, all of these settings are disabled (grayed out) and the following settings are set:

  • SSL 2.0 : on
  • SSL 3.0 : on
  • TLS 1.0 : on
  • TLS 1.1 : off
  • TLS 1.2 : off

This affects all user accounts on the system.

The test GPO we used to turn on FIPS mode for these computers has been verified to only be enforcing that FIPS setting.  It was not controlling any Internet Explorer settings.

Here is the troubleshooting I have done so far:

  • Reset Internet Explorer via the Reset button on the Advanced tab in Internet Options.
  • Put computer in an OU that had Group Policy inheritance blocked, performed gpupdate, and rebooted to ensure no GPOs were affecting the computer.
  • Verified that local policy was not enforcing the Internet Explorer SSL/TLS settings.
  • Ran msconfig, disabled non-Microsoft services, and rebooted.
  • Removed the Internet Explorer feature, rebooted, re-added it, and rebooted.
  • Installed all available important and recommended Windows Updates.
  • Installed Internet Explorer 11.
  • Created a new local account and set it to Administrator and logged in as that.
  • Removed the computer from the domain.
  • Created another local account (with Administrator rights) and logged in as that while the computer was not on a domain.
  • Ran the command from an elevated command prompt:  secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
  • As a last-ditch effort, I ran CCLeaner and performed all the Clean and Registry fixes available.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

IE11 - Popup closes automatically after form submit

Hi,

We are migrating application from IE8 to IE11 and we are using popups in application. The problem is in IE11 in popup once the form is submitted it closes automatically. But the expected behavior is popup should remain open and show the success message and user should able to continue to work in the popup. We are facing this problem only in IE11 and not in IE8.

This is how we are opening the popup - window.open(url,name,....)

Note : When we tracked in Developer tools, we noted that request is aborted.

Thanks,

Siva

Unable to change search provider

$

I am about to erase Internet Explorer forever as it is causing me more problems than helping me.

I don't like Yahoo as my Search Provider - I want to change it to Google .. is that so much to ask?

Searching the forums, I see it's easy - go into Manage add-ons, select service provider and download ...

Just as an aside - I only have one Search provider currently listed which is McAfee Secure Search, even though it still defaults to Y******.

So I download the Google search provider and it comes up with a box

"The Search provider could not be installed.

                  This might have happended because:
               - A required file could not be downloaded
               - The webiste is unavailable
               - You are not connected to the internet

You might want to try again later"

So let's skip the part where I may not be connected to the Internet ....

It is not just Google, it refuses to change to Bing, Ask Jeeves, Time and Date.

In the debug window - the Document Mode is set to Edge.  I can change it to 10 (Google) but it refuses to save the settings.

So I think that's the long and short of it.  Can my relationship with IE be saved or will I be destined to use Firefox for the next 20 years?

IE - 11.0.9600.17498 / Update 11.0.15
WIN - 8.1
