How To Stop Internet Explorer 11 Prompting To Display Full-screen Mode

$

Is there a way to stop the desktop version of Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 from prompting whether you want a website to display content in full-screen mode?

When it displays the prompt "Do you want to view youtube.com in full screen?  (Press Esc to exit.)", if you select 'Always Allow', it doesn't permanently remember this setting, as it will be reset when the browsing history is deleted.  Surely there must be a setting somewhere to prevent it from displaying this prompt every time?

And I said hey, what's going on...

IE crashes every single time.

Every single time I start up IE I get a very basic window, no web pages are loaded and then within a few seconds it crashes.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-crashes-stops-working#ie=ie-11

It has been a consistant problem for days, and I shut my computer down when it isn't in use so restarting didn't fix the problem.

I have tried turning it off and on, that didn't fix the problem.

I have tried to troubleshoot it, that didn't fix the problem.

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833?wa=wsignin1.0

System File Checker did detect problems and couldn't fix them but that was with something related to AMD64.

At this point I have completely run out of ideas short of formatting and reinstalling everything.

IE10 - Is it possible to hide the "webpage not responding" message

$

Hi

I work in a large organization and we recently upgraded our clients from XP with IE8 to Windows 7 with IE10.

We just now noticed that in one of our largest internal web application some of the functions isn't quite optimized for IE10. When the users try to use some of these functions they get the "webpage is not responding" message at the bottom of the IE Window.(Picture for reference: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/ieblog/2011/Apr/19_HangResistanceinIE9_3.jpg ) If the user does not click on the message and just let the webpage do its work it eventuallt finishes and the user gets the result he/she wanted.

We have asked our web developers to adress this issue and they are currently working on it, but in the meantime we would like to minimize the number of recorded incidents from our users.

Is it possible to disable the "webpage is not responding" message? I've tried to search for a solution but so far i have not found anything.

IE11 Users are able to check or un-check "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists" despite setting being enforced by GPO.

Hi,

We are trying to fully enforce the Compatibility View setting "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists" in our IE11 Group Policy.

The GPO setting "Include updated website lists from Microsoft" enforces the policy at registry level but the option in the GUI is still accessible to the end users.

Meaning they are still able to check or unckeck the option.

The GPO setting description clearly states: "Additionally, the user cannot activate the feature by using the Compatibility View Settings dialog box."

I cannot find anything on the web beside that this was already a bug in IE10 as per THIS technet post that my colleague posted back when we looked at the same for IE10.

This issue was reproduced on several machines running IE11 with the latest cumulative patch applied - Version 11.0.9600.17420, Update versions: 11.0.14 (KB3003057)

Is there a fix or work-around we can apply to our platform ?
Is this bug already reported to Microsoft ? If not can someone take care of it and I will be willing to cooperate with the investigation if required.

Below are some screenshot to illustrate the problem.

Thanks,
Manuel

Web site not resolving within network

We have a company network and are having trouble access the site gis.Utah.gov from within the network.

Here are the steps that I have taken for troubleshooting:

  1. ran nslookup and get the correct IP provided from inside the network
  2. Set up the internal DNS server with no forwarders (only using root hints)
  3. From within IE ran the network capture and came up with the following from within the network:
  4. gis(dot)Utah(dot)gov HTTP  (Aborted)  0 B < 1 ms refresh 0 0 0 0 0 42026
  5. I have run the same outside the company and it resolves OK.

We have tried this with IE, Firefox and Chrome with no luck.

If anyone has any input regarding what else I could look at to resolve this issue, I would be grateful.

Who Decided to Combine the Search Box and Address Bar?

A very wise person once said:

"Make everything as simple as possible, but no simpler!"

That fundamental rule of design has been volated with Internet Explorer 9.

I've been using IE9 for about a month now, trying to get used to all the new things.  Performance-wise it's nice, and the changes to security are welcome.  Okay, so the color-management is half baked, and it still has its problems, but I guess it's an improvement.

But what idiot decided to make the search box and the address field one and the same?

You think I'm being petty?  Go try to research what a particular file is - for example, go see if you can find info on "bib.dll".

It wants to make it into a URL.  It's not a URL.  It may LOOK like one, but it's a name, honest!

Putting quotes around it doesn't help.  Maybe I'm missing the advanced syntax it takes to get such a thing to be a search term instead of a URL. Even if so, how is this an improvement or simplification?  It's certainly not intuitively obvious how to force a search, short of dredging up a link to Google and typing info in there directly.

Doing a search and typing in an address are two FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS.

And hey, it's not a big deal that you can no longer see what it was you searched for, and maybe even edit it and search again.  No, because now the search engine pages have to waste space to put up a box showing what you just searched for, since it's now GONE out of the address field.

How does stuff like this pass a design review?

And to think the Microsoft Engineers worked extra hard to take it out.

You Engineers at Microsoft need to take the product back from your moronic marketing people and make it actually work right.

Avoid installation of language packs in Internet Explorer 11 (Only want a English User interface)

Hi,

Just started to test Internet Explorer 11 in our setup. Our computers are running Windows 7 ENU  (Enterprise edition) customized with at language MUI, based on the country the computer is located in. So far we've been running a English(the menus etc) Internet Explorer 9 configuration independent of language MUI installed. But when we start to deploy Internet Explorer 11, it will automatically install the  language pack of the Windows 7 MUI language  (We would like to continue with Internet Explorer 11 in English only). This behaviour only occurs when deploying Internet Explorer 11 to already existing running Computers. If we build a new Image for deployment which includes Internet Explorer 11(before the image is deployed and MUI's are added, Internet Explorer 11 will be in English afterwards as well)

We build the installationpackage in IEAK, choosing the target platform to be English (and tried the standard installationpackage as well) but no matter what, a Internet Explorer 11 language pack, is installed on the Non-English computers.  It's possible to uninstall the Language pack afterwards in the Updates list, but that cannot be the way to solve it.

So what am I missing, is this by design or is it possible to avoid this behaviour.

Kind Regards,

Jakob

I have made a build with IEAK11 for IE11, full install.

In the IEAK have also included the prereq files KB2533623-2670838-2729094-2731771-2786081-2834140.

However on some clientsthe install isn't succeeding. Does not produce a error but when looking in the IE11 main log this appears it seems one is failing to install and download...:

Win8/IE11: inline PDF rendering/page refresh issues when using scrollbar

I have an aspx page with 3 PDF pages embedded w/ iframe tags.

  <iframe src="pdf/BS351.pdf" style="width: 843px; height: 400px;" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

etc.  The PDFs are rendered correctly on page load, however when I use the page scrollbar (not the Adobe reader scrollbar), I see display not getting refreshed correctly.  I have included a couple of screenshots to clarify:

On page load:

When using scrollbar to the right to scroll down the page:

This behavior is not seen in other browsers or in IE8, 9 or 10.

Are there any changes in IE11 that may be causing this behavior?

managing Enterprise Mode list.

$

here is my process when I need to add a site to my enterprise mode xml file:

1. open Enterprise Mode Site List Manager
2. bulk add from file, select my enterprise mode xml file.
3. add the site
4. save to xml, select my enterprise mod xml file overwrite it.

I do it this way because I have other people on my team also updating the xml file on their workstations with the site list manager installed. so when I open the List Manager tool on my desktop, I need to load all the sites from the latest version of the xml file, otherwise when I save my list back to the xml, it's not going to have any sites that were added by other people on other machines. (Or when I get a new PC myself...I've had this happen a few times and have had to rebuild the entire list.)

the issue I see here is that when I do this, the "rules version" at the top of the xml file always gets reset back to 1. the way I understand it, IE compares its currently loaded version to the version in the xml file to see if it needs to reload the newer version of the xml. so having it go back to 1 every time I add a site doesn't seem ideal.

i'm assuming that this site list manager tool was implemented to extract the role of managing this list away from the group policy administrator. which is great and all, but surely MS thought about more than one person managing the list from more than one computer.

am I doing this wrong? or understanding the point of the version number incorrectly?

MS14-065 (Nov. IE update) breaks domain-based exception list for outdated ActiveX Blocking.

The November cumulative IE update (MS14-065) appears to break the domain-based exceptions for the new outdated ActiveX control blocking that is described here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn761713.aspx

We have the new IE group policies deployed in our environment to add domain exceptions for our enterprise to the outdated ActiveX blocking. This was all working perfectly prior to MS14-065. After installing that November update, our exceptions are no longer working and users are getting the block message for their Java applications.

Our environment is Windows 7 SP1 x64 using IE 9. Domain Controllers are 2008 R2.

If I manually remove MS14-065 (falling back to MS14-056, October update) the exceptions all work again as expected. Re-installing MS14-065 (November update) causes the exceptions to stop working again.

IE9 open in new window/tab does not load

Running Internet Explorer v9.0.8112.16421 on Windows 7 Pro x64 with SP1.

When the browser is asked to open a page in a new window or tab, the new blank window or tab appears, but nothing loads. There is a spinning circle in the address bar and along side the mouse cursor, but nothing more happens.

This behavior is observed whether you click on a link using target="_blank" or right click on a link and select open in new window. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled IE9. I have also experimented with the IE tabbed browsing settings including disabling tabbed browsing.

IE11 on 2012 R2 - roaming usernames and passwords

Usernames and passwords saved in IE does not roam with the roaming user profile from remote desktop server to remote desktop server.

They seem to be only usable on the server where they were created.

 We only see this with IE11 on 2012 R2 (not IE10 on 2008 R2)

Anyone else seeing this?

Anyone has this working (roaming between different servers)?

All ideas as to how we can get this working is much appreciated.

problem opening a link from webpage to a access db file on a network share

Hi all,

We have a webpage where there are links to the different ressources on our network..

one of these links points to the i:\somefolder\someDB.accdp or whatever extionsen access databases have..

so the idea is that the user goes to the webpage click on the link and because the I: drive on the pc points in the right place it opens the file in access.

this works. IE download manager pops up and asks what to do, open - save - save as

the users says open and access opens the DB for the user.

The problem is that IE download manager says the file was not downloaded and the access database windows does not take focus.

now this may seem like a small thing but we do get allot of support from users saying its not working. The problem here being that users don't see the blinking access icon in the process bar and thinks that clicking the link didn't work.

I assume the reason access doesn't pop into focus after choosing to open it from IE link is because IE sees the file as not downloaded and than nothing happens.

I have no clue why this happens (IE says the file was not downloaded or why access doesn't take focus after choosing open)

I have been at it for days..

I have put the site in the trusted site option which did nothing to solve the issue.

Turned off mime sniffer and screenfilter or what ever the filter in IE is called and i still got the issue

this is IE 11

ANY!... and i mean A N Y ideas would be priciated!

Deleting favorites in IE 10 and 11 on remote computer in individual user profiles

Hello,

I need to find a way to delete old company favorites from remote computers for individual user profiles.  Some of the computers are domain members, some are not.  We used to have a generic user on all the computers.  This made it easy to manage things like favorites.  We are now moving away from a generic profile and making each individual user login.  Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to add and remove favorites for each individual user?

Thanks in advance

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows Server 2008 R2

$

I need to install IE 9 or IE 10 on a Windows Server 2008 R2.  IE 9 or 10 is specified because of compatibility with some of our applications that have been developed in house.

An earlier post listed the link http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/A/C/8AC7C482-BC74-492E-B978-7ED04900CEDE/IE10-Windows6.1-x86-en-us.exe  as a source for the IE 10 download, but when I downloaded it and tried to install it, I got an error "Operating System is not supported".

I am hesitant to download it from one of the non-microsoft sites that offer it.

Is there a way to download and install IE 10 to Windows Server 2008 R2?

Thanks very much for your help.
