Hello,
I want to lock down IE on a kiosk PC to a single website. This website has an embedded youtube video. I'm having trouble playing the video. I've configured IE to use a proxy of 127.0.0.1 and bypass for addresses: *.mysite.com;*.ytimg.* andwww.youtube.*, however the youtube links always displays cannot play embedded video - it doesn't matter if I copy the full URL out. The youtube image displays and the video is clickable, but I keep on getting a fuzzy screen.
Is there a way around this so that I can lock down IE to just my site, but also display the youtube video?
Thanks
Hi,
Just started to test Internet Explorer 11 in our setup. Our computers are running Windows 7 ENU (Enterprise edition) customized with at language MUI, based on the country the computer is located in. So far we've been running a English(the menus etc) Internet Explorer 9 configuration independent of language MUI installed. But when we start to deploy Internet Explorer 11, it will automatically install the language pack of the Windows 7 MUI language (We would like to continue with Internet Explorer 11 in English only). This behaviour only occurs when deploying Internet Explorer 11 to already existing running Computers. If we build a new Image for deployment which includes Internet Explorer 11(before the image is deployed and MUI's are added, Internet Explorer 11 will be in English afterwards as well)
We build the installationpackage in IEAK, choosing the target platform to be English (and tried the standard installationpackage as well) but no matter what, a Internet Explorer 11 language pack, is installed on the Non-English computers. It's possible to uninstall the Language pack afterwards in the Updates list, but that cannot be the way to solve it.
So what am I missing, is this by design or is it possible to avoid this behaviour.
Kind Regards,
Jakob
Since the November cumulative IE 11 update was deployed to our users, we are getting reports of the users seeing prompts about running the outdated Java version on sites in the trusted zone. It was my understanding that the alert should not be triggered for sites in the Trusted sites zone.
2 odd things I have noticed also:
I confirmed the behavior started after the patch was applied. Anyone else seen this?
Hi,
I am facing an issue while dynamically populating the dropdown. The list is retrieved fine. The value that needs to be set is defaulting to the item at location list[0]. No matter how many times i try to over ride the value, it still defaults. The wrong
value is displayed in IE11- Enterprise and Compatibility modes.
It works fine in IE 11 but the page looks distorted since the application was previously designed for IE8.
Could anyone please guide on what the issue could be?
Hello,
Due to European Law, websites have to ask users for their permission to use cookies. I was wondering where the users choice for cookie allowance is being saved?
Example: http://tweakers.net/
I thought the user choice would be saved in a cookie... but when I delete all cookies, I don't have to make my choice to allow cookies over new... so apparently not.
I needed to have a 32-bit IE, so I dropped back from IE11 to IE9. All went well with 2 Internet Explorers appearing in my Start Menu on my Windows 7 64-bit desktop....one 64-bit and one 32-bit.
However, when I right-click on my desktop and select Personalize, I get the message "Windows cannot access the specified drive, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." The popup box is titled "Explorer.EXE".
Anyone know a fix for this issue?
Hello Experts!!! Greetings.
In our work environment, IE11 is needs to be deployed, I have a newly deployed Windows 2012 R2 x64 bit Server to manage the GPOs for IE11.
When I checked in the GPMC.msc console on this server, I have not seen the option to Enable the enterprise mode for other computers. I searched on the internet and found below article.
KB2841134.zip it contains inetres.admx and inetres.adml files. which has to be updated via below command on the server.
Step1.
copy /y %WINDIR%\KB2841134\inetres.admx %SYSTEMROOT%\PolicyDefinitions\inetres.admx
Step 2.
copy /y %WINDIR%\KB2841134\<LanguageCode>\inetres.adml
%SYSTEMROOT%\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\<LanguageCode>\inetres.adml
<LanguageCode> = en-US.
after doing this above steps, I re-launched the GPMC.msc but still I do not see the option visible for IE11 Enterprise Mode. Can anyone please guide me what are the pre-requisites for managing IE11 based settings via Windows 2012 R2 Server?. Thanks in advance.
When I click on a link that should open in a new tab (or right-click and select Open in new Tab), IE11 Opens a new tab but the screen is blank, the URL is about:blank and the tab title is 'Blank Page'.
Windows 8.1 x64
Internet Explorer 11 (Desktop)
The 'Metro' version of IE 11 still works fine, it's just the Desktop version which is broken.
I've tried all the fixes listed in the similar thread, but none have helped.
Hello,
I work for a company that has a large user base of employees that are remote workers. Their computer are mostly Windows 7 with a XP systems. I’m looking for a way to disable the use of SSL 3 on the client systems due to the “Poodle” vulnerability. Group Policy is not an option as the machines are not domain joined but are managed by Altiris. I’ve seen some sites suggest that adding the following registry entry to the client system can achieve this goal: (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/3009008.aspx)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 3.0\Server]"Enabled"=dword:00000000
Is this accurate? The results of my testing are unclear on this. I was thinking I could create script that would add this key to the registry on the client systems and deploy it with Altiris.
Thanks for your assistance

Hello, so I rolled out IE11 to my company. A small amount of clients failed to load IE11 due to the error "Neutral package installation failed". I search high and low for an answer and there was none or either the suggestions did not work.
I wanted to shared my fix so hopefully I can help save someone from the same frustration I went through.
What I did was installed IE11 on another client. As IE11 installs, I view the IE11_main.log Now, you need to be quick in the next few steps. Catch when the logs show "Installing with the downloaded package. C:\Windows\TEMP\IE145F4.tmp\IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab", you will need to either copy the new Temp folder or copy the file IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab to another location that you can get to it later. The reason you have to do it quick is the IE11 installation will delete this Temp file once it's done. The IE temp folder will be name differently, mine just happen to be called IE145F4 but yours will be different.
Now that you have the cab file, install it on any clients that has the "Neutral package installation failed" error.
C:\Windows\System32\dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:"C:\<PATH>\IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab" /norestart
I hope this help whoever is searching endlessly for a solution that Microsoft fails to address.
In the default bootstrap.css I got from Visual Studio, I have the following CSS:
filter: alpha(opacity=65);
That is an IE8 extension, and I have to accept that the CSS does not validate.
However, I also get a parsing error from the validator, that is worrying me. I can get rid of the parsing error by inserting quotes in the code, like this:
filter: "alpha(opacity=65)";My question then is: will this style still work in IE8 ?

Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.17420
IE 11.0.14 (KB3003057)
Windows 7 SP1 32bit
While testing IE 11 in offices with slow connections our test users reported strange application hangs when opening the first new tab. The initial load of the home page and all subsequent tabs after the first new one are working just fine.
The hangs will persist for nearly 2 minutes and then IE will load the desired page just fine without any user interaction. It's as if the application hangs somewhere in a loop.
While trying to solve the issue we were able to pinpoint it to our proxy.pac in which we're using the "IsInNet" function to determine if a certain host is in a specific subnet. After a few Wireshark traces we found that when opening the first new tab (and only then) IE 11 will try to resolve the proxy for a host named "DUMMY<00>". Of course we don't have any DNS records for that name so IE seems to fall back to using NBNS. We only have one central NBNS server, so this will cause the delay our remote users noticed (it takes them about five seconds for one request to be handled).
As a workaround we've adjusted our proxy.pac to save the resolved IP of the host to a variable, therefore reducing our name resolution queries from previously 35 to a single one. This doesn't get rid of the hang completely but it helps a lot in that the delay is now more like five seconds than two minutes.
I'm now trying to figure out why IE is querying "DUMMY<00>" in the first place but so far I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have some insight as to why that's happening? Is it a certain setting we need to adjust or is this by design? We've never noticed anything similar with IE 9.
Hi,
We are trying to fully enforce the Compatibility View setting "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists" in our IE11 Group Policy.
The GPO setting "Include updated website lists from Microsoft" enforces the policy at registry level but the option in the GUI is still accessible to the end users.
Meaning they are still able to check or unckeck the option.
The GPO setting description clearly states: "Additionally, the user cannot activate the feature by using the Compatibility View Settings dialog box."
I cannot find anything on the web beside that this was already a bug in IE10 as per THIS technet post that my colleague posted back when we looked at the same for IE10.
This issue was reproduced on several machines running IE11 with the latest cumulative patch applied - Version 11.0.9600.17420, Update versions: 11.0.14 (KB3003057)
Is there a fix or work-around we can apply to our platform ?
Is this bug already reported to Microsoft ? If not can someone take care of it and I will be willing to cooperate with the investigation if required.
Below are some screenshot to illustrate the problem.
Thanks,
Manuel

We have a user who is not able to download files using IE. She's running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. She's able to download using other browsers. This seems to have started when I changed her local rights from Local Admin to Standard user.
I've disabled all plugins, downgraded from IE10 to IE9, upgraded to IE11. We've also tried running her system in Safe Mode with networking still no luck. I also changed her local rights from standard back to Admin.
I've tried most of what was suggested here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/7a8e5897-9708-4506-9efc-8f888efbba21/ie9-and-ie10-cannot-downloadopen-any-files
Any other suggestions?
