Enterprise Mode site list and manual override

I have a small question / issue when using Enterprise Mode.

We have enabled it using GPO by specifying both a site list and the Enable settings for manual override. This works fine but I don't know how to reset the manual override if somebody flicks the EM mode for a specific site.

I just want to tell IE to forget all manual overrides and apply the sitelist as delivered.

I tried to look in the registry, in the %AppData% fodler, even cleared the IE cache but IE still remembers the user overrides.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks, Nic.

Internet Explorer issue In Windows 8.1

In IE 11 in Windows 8.1 I found below issue:
 1) I found out that browser cache in Windows 8.1 is stored in “InetCache” folder which is located at C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache. But when this folder is accessed from windows explorer, the contents shown are different from, when it is accessed through Browser Tools->Internet Options->General->Browsing history->Settings->View files.

 2) Now go to above said path (mentioned in #1 issue)from cmd. Now run dir command we see that it lists out  some files and directory name.Even though we delete everything from C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache by selecting (ctrl+A->shift+delete). Can anyone help me in knowing why it does not delete everything from folder C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache when we clear all the  item? What is the purpose of the file that is listed out in cmd (like counters.dat, low directory etc)?
3)How this directory can be deleted? When I delete the C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Low, again it gets created. How we can can delete counters.dat file from INetCache folder. What is the purpose of this dat file.

4) The issue mentioned In #2 and #3 are also seen in Windows 7.

Please help me in knowing the answer of the above question.
Thanks in advance.

Internet Explorer 11 installattion WMI Timeout KB2729094

Hey,

I have a lot of Win7 SP1 PCs here on which I receive an WMI timeout error during Internet Explorer 11 installation.
Error is the following (always with the same hotfix):

WMI query for Hotfixes timed out. Query string: 'Select HotFixID from Win32_QuickFixEngineering WHERE HotFixID="KB2729094"' Error: 0x00040004 (262148).
If I run the same query in powershell it takes long, but it ends with success.
Get-WMIObject -Query $('Select HotFixID from Win32_QuickFixEngineering WHERE HotFixID="KB2729094"') -Namespace "ROOT\CIMv
What I already tried was to reinstall the hotfix.
I although applied hotfix KB2834140 of slow WMI and tried to repair the WMI with following batch:
sc config winmgmt start= disabled
net stop winmgmt /y
%SYSTEMDRIVE% >nul
cd %windir%\system32\wbem
For /f %%s in ('dir /b *.dll') do regsvr32 /s %%s
wmiprvse /regserver
winmgmt /regserver
net start winmgmt
for /f %%s in ('dir /b *.mof *.mfl') do mofcomp %%s
But all without success. If I reistall the device installation works without problems, but it is not possible for me to reinstall nearly all my devices newly.

Thank you for help in advance.

Difference between IE 11 on Server 2008 R2 Ent SP1 and Windows 7 Pro SP1

hi,

we're running a jboss web application that requires IE11, we use a mix of terminal servers and desktops. the web application runs very smoothly on windows 7 desktop but on Windows 2008 Server R2 SP1 (terminal servers) there is a noticeable delay when updating/running a task on the webpage via the browser. I have tested this on a virgin install, brand new server, Server 2008 R2 SP1 without joining to the domain or running any remote desktop services and it's slightly faster but not as quick as windows 7 PC. I would like to know if there are any fundamental difference using IE11 on win7 and server 2008 that may cause this behaviour. I have disabled all security options and added the site as a safe site but there is still a noticeable lag. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IE11 on Windows 7 SP1

Hello Experts.

I have a Windows 7 SP1 PC and I have installed the IE11 on it.  Initially I have not seen the option to enable the Enterprise Mode from local GPO console(GPEDIT.EXE), Hence I tried to search and found that KB2929437 is required for IE11 to enable the Enterprise mode on Windows 7 devices, I installed the required KB also and found that the option to Enable\Disable the Enterprise mode in IE11 on Windows 7 was appeared.

I Enabled the Enterprise Mode and applied. then GPUPDATE /force and launched IE11 but do not see the option of Enterprise Mode in IE11 Tools.

Also, tried with putting the registries : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode

Enable String

Still no luck. Can anyone advise me how I can resolve this issue?. Thanks in advance.

Kindly advise.

Lock Down IE to a single website

$

Hi,

Is it possible to lock down IE to only use a single website? I'm setting up a PC to be used a kiosk machine in a public area to point at the customer's public website and the customer does not want facebook, twitter, porno.com or any other site to be available to the public.

So far, I've tried:

1. Using a proxy of 127.0.0.1 and adding an exception for the customer's website.
2. Using content advisor to only allow a single site. Oddly enough the "Always Allow website\webpage" still asks for a password prompt when used.
3. Using firewall rules to block traffic to all sites by configuring an allow rule for http/https to my customer's site IP and then using a deny rule for all other outbound http/s traffic - just didn't work.

The problem with 1 & 2 is that the customer's website is large (around 35 pages) and there are links on many of the pages to facebook, youtube, twitter, google analytics and a few other. The customer wants their youtube content to be viewable, but not watch other videos - I can't see a way of doing it, but thought I'd ask....

Thanks

Adobe Flashplayer has stopped working in IE11

$

Hi all,

My IE11 does not want to Allow Adobe Flashplayer on webpages. I get the announcement on webpages that require Flash that "This web page wants to run the following add-on: 'Adobe Flash Player' from 'Microsoft Windows Third Party Application Compon...'." When I click "Allow" it reloads the page and the message is shown again and the flash still not working. Flash works perfectly in Firefox.

This started to occur after this update had been installed "Security Update for Windows 8.1 x64-based Systems (KB3011780)".

I have checked so that the add-on "Shockwave Flash Object" is enabled in the browser and that the Active X filtering is not "checked".

Updating IE to IE 11.0.14

I currently have IE 11.0.9600.17416 when I click Tools... About Internet Explorer. It says I have an option to install IE 11.0.14. How can I get this update?  I click on the link for the KB MS14-65 and it says the update is already installed.  I've checked Windows Update and its all updates have been installed.  I'm using a Dell laptop with Windows 8.1 Professional 64 bit.

IE11 trying to resolve proxy for DUMMY host on first new tab

$

Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.17420
IE 11.0.14 (KB3003057)
Windows 7 SP1 32bit

While testing IE 11 in offices with slow connections our test users reported strange application hangs when opening the first new tab. The initial load of the home page and all subsequent tabs after the first new one are working just fine.

The hangs will persist for nearly 2 minutes and then IE will load the desired page just fine without any user interaction. It's as if the application hangs somewhere in a loop.

While trying to solve the issue we were able to pinpoint it to our proxy.pac in which we're using the "IsInNet" function to determine if a certain host is in a specific subnet. After a few Wireshark traces we found that when opening the first new tab (and only then) IE 11 will try to resolve the proxy for a host named "DUMMY<00>". Of course we don't have any DNS records for that name so IE seems to fall back to using NBNS. We only have one central NBNS server, so this will cause the delay our remote users noticed (it takes them about five seconds for one request to be handled).

As a workaround we've adjusted our proxy.pac to save the resolved IP of the host to a variable, therefore reducing our name resolution queries from previously 35 to a single one. This doesn't get rid of the hang completely but it helps a lot in that the delay is now more like five seconds than two minutes.

I'm now trying to figure out why IE is querying "DUMMY<00>" in the first place but so far I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have some insight as to why that's happening? Is it a certain setting we need to adjust or is this by design? We've never noticed anything similar with IE 9.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and 11 not working

Hi Team,

Iam currently using windows 7 64-bit operating system and we require internet explorer 10 and 11 for our regular project usage.

When I have upgraded the version of IE from 9 to 10 or 11 its not responding and not showing in processes tab of task manager as well.

Request you to share your valuable thoughts in fixing this issue

IE11 Users are able to check or un-check "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists" despite setting being enforced by GPO.

Hi,

We are trying to fully enforce the Compatibility View setting "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists" in our IE11 Group Policy.

The GPO setting "Include updated website lists from Microsoft" enforces the policy at registry level but the option in the GUI is still accessible to the end users.

Meaning they are still able to check or unckeck the option.

The GPO setting description clearly states: "Additionally, the user cannot activate the feature by using the Compatibility View Settings dialog box."

I cannot find anything on the web beside that this was already a bug in IE10 as per THIS technet post that my colleague posted back when we looked at the same for IE10.

This issue was reproduced on several machines running IE11 with the latest cumulative patch applied - Version 11.0.9600.17420, Update versions: 11.0.14 (KB3003057)

Is there a fix or work-around we can apply to our platform ?
Is this bug already reported to Microsoft ? If not can someone take care of it and I will be willing to cooperate with the investigation if required.

Below are some screenshot to illustrate the problem.

Thanks,
Manuel

IE crashes every single time.

Every single time I start up IE I get a very basic window, no web pages are loaded and then within a few seconds it crashes.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-crashes-stops-working#ie=ie-11

It has been a consistant problem for days, and I shut my computer down when it isn't in use so restarting didn't fix the problem.

I have tried turning it off and on, that didn't fix the problem.

I have tried to troubleshoot it, that didn't fix the problem.

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833?wa=wsignin1.0

System File Checker did detect problems and couldn't fix them but that was with something related to AMD64.

At this point I have completely run out of ideas short of formatting and reinstalling everything.
