Export to CSV

$

Hi.

On a reguar basis we export data from a Goverment Web Site. When we are exporting this data, we are giving two options to either open it or save it. We always choose save. When we choose save it saves it as a CSV File. The problem is that when we open that saved CSV file using Notepad on 2 different machines, the format is different on each machine.

Both machines have Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP 3. however one machine has Office 2007 and the other machine has Office 2003.

The Difference between the files is that on the machine with Office 2007, when the file is exported to CSV, the text in the columns all have Quataion Marks around them where as on the machine with office 2003 this doesn't happen, also it seems to remove the extra commas at the end of each row as well on the Office 2007 machine.

The machine with Office 2007 was only recently updated to Office 2007 from Office 2003, so I am thinking that that may have something to do with it because there was never an issue before it was updated. I've searched on the internet for a solution, but could not find one, so I was hoping that someone here could help me as I need to be able to export the file on both machines and it must be in the same CSV format as it is used in a SSIS Package.

Thanks in Advance

Adrian

IE11 Ignoring Unattend.xml Customizations

$

Hey Everyone,

We have added IE11 to an image for one of our sections, and are encountering an issue with any values added to the unattend.xml not being processed by IE11 when it brands itself. I confirmed that all customizations specified were present in the unattend.xml located in the panther directory of a test client.

I checked the sysprep action log for the test client, and found that the customizations were being processed. I reviewed c:\users\username\appdata\local\microsoft\internet explorer\brndlog.txt and can see that it doesn't seem to be making any changes. However, all the values are present in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\UnattendBackup\. Restoring the advanced settings in IE, which retriggers the process produces the same result, the values are not read, or seem to be skipped in brndlog.txt.

I also noticed that the brndlog.txt contains the following two lines:

"Active Setup stub for branding doesn't exist: Branding component not installed"

"HKCU Active Setup Key not found"

I checked the ActiveSetup keys in both HKCU and HKLM, and neither has an entry referencing iedkcs32.dll. There is one for ie4unint.exe -UserConfig.

This is using the exact same process as we do for images with IE8 installed, which works without issue. Are there changes in IE11 that need to be accounted for in the imaging process? I can't use GPP for this as we maintain areas that have not yet migrated to a domain, and need to be able to control what is set during the imaging process.

Thanks,

Garrett

How to turn Automatic update off for IE10

Hi All,

I am currently using a 2012 R2 server and want to set all our PC's to not automatically update IE due to using a patching suite and sandbox,

Is there a way of doing this trough GPO rather than using the IE 10 Blocker Toolkit?

Cheers for your help in advance,

Thanks,

Gavin Doris

Favorites not showing in IE11 address bar

$

In IE11, when you type something on the address bar, it will show you sites:

1) those are most recently visited

2) those match in the History, and

3) those match in the Favorites as well

Recently, in order to fix a problem, I need to delete the browsing history in IE11.  Note that when I did the delete, "Preserve Favorites website data" is *unchecked*.  After that, when I type something in the address bar of IE11, the History and Favorite search categories are gone.

I checked that my AutoComplete Settings are all correct.  Browsing history and Favorites are all checked.  Can I ask how to fix this problem so that the History and Favorite category will show up again in the address bar of IE11?  Thanks a lot!

By the way, cannot insert any images right now because account is not verified.  Will insert images to help diagnose the problem when I am able to do so.

IE 11 Inheritance from IE 8 gpo’s

we have GPO's for IE 8, w/w2k8R2 DCs, what i need to know, is there some documentation on what IE 11 "will " and "WILL NOT" inherit from the IE 8 policies? I do know that the GPP's will not work without a 8.1 or w2k12 machine. to even see the new templetes. A list that documents what IE 11 will inherit from the IE 8 GPOs is what i'm looking for.

thanks for your help.

IE10 , W2008R2, Roaming Profiles -> still an issue

Hi,

It seems that Microsoft lost focus on a large group of people using W2008R2 still awaiting for a solution
to implement IE10/IE11 in their Enterprise environment.

In short:
- Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles or not working on W2008R2
- (hot)fixes have been provided, working for some systems but not for W2008R2

All you can read, including tests from people, also saying that it's not working, on this page.
"Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)" here in the forum

Question:
- Any idea if this still is under Investigations?
- when can customers expect to be able to migrate to IE10/IE11 and get a working combination W2008R2 with IE10

IE10: WebCacheV01.dat / WebCacheV24.dat not unlocked during logoff

We are using 3rd party software to capture changes to user profiles (Res Workspace Manager 2012, previously called PowerFuse). Our OS is Windows 7 which we run in a VDI environment.

After replacing IE9 with IE10, the performance of the browser has increased a lot - hence happier users.

However it appears that RES is unable to capture the Internet Explore 10 history and cookies. These are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\WebCacheV01.dat or WebCachev24.dat. This 32 MB file is not released until several minutes after logoff.

Is there a way to have these files being unlocked/released earlier? We really appreciate IE10 so downgrading to IE9 is something we try to avoid.

The file is locked by taskhost.exe.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

Internet Explorer 11 constantly causes screen flickering with Windows 8.1

My screen is constantly flickering and sometimes tabs go blank (white) for no reason while using IE11 with Windows 8.1.  This does not happen with other browsers.  My resolution and refresh rate for my monitor are both set to recommended settings and my Windows and drivers are all up to date.

Simple question - using IE 10 in a domain

Hi,

I have a very simple question.

How can I make sure that everyone in our domain is using IE 10? We have several users who are still using IE 8 or 9.

We want to push the update to their client so they can install IE 10. We actually already done this threw Windows updates but not everbody is receiving them. Is there another way? Like threw Group Policy?

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Mo

IE 11 not sending cookies in requests

$

This seems pretty straightforward but I cannot understand why IE11 is refusing to send cookies to my web app.

I have set the privacy controls to accept all cookie. In the dev tools when I trace the network requests I can explicitly see the cookie in the 'Cookies' section of the dev tools, so I know IE is aware it should be sending a cookie, but on subsequent requests it fails to include the cookie info.

Here is a network trace of the issue. Can anyone help me understand why IE will not send the cookie that is being set by the server?

thanks

hello,

Is it possible to enalbe a specific ActiveX, for exampe: ActiveXObject("Outlook.Application")?

I know there is an option in the Internet Explorer options named:

Initialize and script ActiveX not marked as safe for scripting

However, our security team, does not allow us to enable this option due to security issue becuase it enables all kind of ActiveX, but if we find how to enable a specific ActiveX, it will be ok from their side.

Thanks!

Enterprise Mode site list and manual override

$

I have a small question / issue when using Enterprise Mode.

We have enabled it using GPO by specifying both a site list and the Enable settings for manual override. This works fine but I don't know how to reset the manual override if somebody flicks the EM mode for a specific site.

I just want to tell IE to forget all manual overrides and apply the sitelist as delivered.

I tried to look in the registry, in the %AppData% fodler, even cleared the IE cache but IE still remembers the user overrides.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks, Nic.

IE11 on 2012 R2 - roaming usernames and passwords

$

Usernames and passwords saved in IE does not roam with the roaming user profile from remote desktop server to remote desktop server.

They seem to be only usable on the server where they were created.

 We only see this with IE11 on 2012 R2 (not IE10 on 2008 R2)

Anyone else seeing this?

Anyone has this working (roaming between different servers)?

All ideas as to how we can get this working is much appreciated.

IE11 not initiating CORS request

$

By fiddling it seems IE11 does not make an ajax request if it is cross origin. FF and Chrome will at least make the request and throw an error if the resource API is not sending necessary headers. The resource API (Web API 2.0) in my case is adding required headers which will be helpful IF IE makes the request, but it doesn't.

Client's JavaScript:

jQuery.support.cors =true;

$.fn.somePlugin =function(){
    $.ajax({
        url: apiUrl +'/articles/list/',
        type:'GET',
        crossDomain:true}).done(function(data, textStatus, xhr){
            console.log('hello world!');});returnthis;}

The ajax request above works perfectly in Chrome and FF but not in IE11.

I've tried:

  1. adding a reference to XDomainRequest.js without any effect.
  2. enabling cross origin request in IE Security options - even though it seems bizarre to do this on every client machine. Regardless, it made no difference.

Unable to Install Root CA Certificate - Certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority.

Hi,

I am trying to install CA root certificate on Windows 7, IE 9.

Encounter error: "Untrusted Certificate".  "This certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority."

I have tried to install the certificate to Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->local computer and import was successful. BUT on IE->Internet Options->Certificate->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, I am unable to find this root CA on the list.

On mmc->Certificates->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->certificates, I am able to view this root CA.

I then restarted the IE and view the ssl site again but failed too, "Untrusted Certificate".

Anyone, any idea ?

iexplore.exe Class not registered

I recently had to factory reset my laptop to Windows 8. After initial setup, a total of 113 updates were installed during subsequent scheduled maintenance. Now running IE causes the following error message above. I have tried Running  regsvr32 ExplorerFrame.dll, but another error message appears - The module ExplorerFrame.dll was loaded but the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found. How do i know if the dll is corrupted and where can I download the file? Also, noticed that there are multiple ExplorerFrame.dll in various folders as System32 and SysWOW64, which one do i replace?

In addition, when I tried to run sfc.exe /scannow, the message " Windows resource protection found corrupted files but was unable to fix some of them". See contents of CBS file below - (seems like 5 files [DD0Res, IEProxy, wmlaunch, Window.UI, MFC42] are corrupted, where can I find replacements to download?)

PLEASE HELP!!!

Internet Explorer 11 proxy setting.

Why can I not set my internet settings for connection to have no proxy.

I keep changing it but it resets to a proxy setting everytime I open it up.  Even reset to default settings with no luck.

I have a website that I go to regularly that will not load with the proxy setting so I have to change setting everytime I go to that website.

Never had this problem with prior version of I.E.
