Hello All,

Are all the visited URLs is cached before its recorded as visited site in History, assuming that caches is enabled.

if yes, why some cached html pages URLs are not recorded as a visited URL in internet explorer History since that page is only been cached after we visit it !!!!

Can any one assist in this.

Kind Regards,

Hello,

I am trying to configure branding settings for all users who log onto a machine. I have gone through the wizard, selected the option to silent install, set the things I want such as favourites and browser title, then created an GPO to deploy the package. the package gets installed but users can't see my branding. if I manually install the package as a local admin, the local admin can see the changes but other users can't.

do I need to install this per user or at the computer level in the GPO? I have currently tried both but neither work.

maybe I am missing something else

"User already logged in" when trying to join Microsoft webcast in IE

Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, as it has to do with a Microsoft webcast that's coming up in about 20 minutes.

  1. I follow this link: https://vts.inxpo.com/Launch/Event.htm?ShowKey=20809
  2. Log into the site.
  3. Get error in red saying: User already logged in!

I wait a few minutes and try again; even try other browsers, clear my cache, and still get the message. Help! Why would it not let me join a Microsoft webcast?

Have anyone used the Custom Component in IEAK11 to install .cab files? What is the command and parameters that I need to enter to extract and install the required prerequisites via CAB files?

IE 10 Windows 7 64 Bit: Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) does not run

Many of our Windows 7 laptops started having IE crashes dues to:

Description:
Faulting application name: IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 10.0.9200.17088, time stamp: 0x53eedc10
Faulting module name: urlmon.dll, version: 10.0.9200.17088, time stamp: 0x53eedc44
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00038a99
Faulting process id: 0x128c
Faulting application start time: 0x01cfe29e05a67b00
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
Faulting module path: C:\windows\syswow64\urlmon.dll

To troubleshoot, we have tried resetting IE 10 using Internet Options and rebooting.  Does not reliably fix this and even when it occasionally does, it is not a permanent fix.

I have also tried running Internet Explorer using the shortcut for Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

When I click on the shortcut, there is an an hourglass for a second or two and then it just goes away.  The no add-ons mode never works and doesn't show an error.  It just does nothing.

iexplore.exe -extoff does not work or do anything

iexplorer.exe runs

iexplore -nohome runs

How can we find the cause?

Accelerator identity

How is the accelerator identity determined?

I have created two different accelerators, both in the same category, but with different names, descriptions and even homepageUrls. Nevertheless, if I install one and then want to install the other, IE allows me only to replace the previous one. I have even tried to install them from different urls. So what does IE make think they are the same and how can I install both?

Thanks,
Jan

EDIT: When I assign them to different categories, they can be installed simultaneously (even if install and homepage urls are the same). However I believe generating random or unique category for each accelerator is not the intended usage, is it?

WPAD location in Windows 8.1

We are retiring our TMG server for internet proxy.  Currently we use WPAD with DHCP option 252 and it has been working well.  However we want to slowly transition over to the new system which does not use proxy.  I have removed the DHCP option for group however they are still going through our proxy server instead of just using the default route for HTTP and HTTPS traffic.

For Windows 7 I've created a script and that seems to work on removing wpad but it does not work in Windows 8.1 mainily because I seem to not find the location of the wpad.dat file.  Doea anyone know where IE places the file?

Thanks!

Internet Explorer 11 Hardening

Dear all,

I have to implement a "Hardening" for the Internet Explorer on some systems, because the users should have VERY restricted access to the systems. Unfortunately my only information is related to IE 8 !

Here I have a list of what should be restricted :

  • Browser Bars disabled
  • Browser Options disabled
  • Browser File Open/File new disabled (Save As enabled since required by end users)
  • Browser Favorites disabled
  • Browser Help disabled (Menu, Feedback option, Tip of the day, Tutorial)
  • Browser Media Bar disabled
  • Browser TheaterMode disabled
  • Browser ViewSource disabled
  • Browser FindFiles disabled
  • Browser proxy hardcoded to “proxy01.dcl.tetrapak.com:8080” (required for Internet type applications)
  • Browser link to Windows update disabled

and to achieve this, I have a complete list of registry keys that have to be changed and several local policy settings.

Does anybody have some hints how I can implement this on IE11 ? Which registry settings / policies I have to adapt so that a user is no longer allowed to see the favorites, view the source of a website and so on ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

IE 11 - Open in new Tab Not Working

When I click on a link that should open in a new tab (or right-click and select Open in new Tab), IE11 Opens a new tab but the screen is blank, the URL is about:blank and the tab title is 'Blank Page'.

Windows 8.1 x64
Internet Explorer 11 (Desktop)

The 'Metro' version of IE 11 still works fine, it's just the Desktop version which is broken.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the similar thread, but none have helped.

IEAK11 msi not doing anything

$

I created a IEAK11 deployment package with all our corporate settings. It creates an exe and an msi.

Exe works fine, msi does nothing. It runs, it completes (according to verbose log), but it doesn't modify the system in any way. After restart IE11 is not installed. Running it again just does the same thing.

I recreated the package so it showed all the dialog boxes and as far as I can tell it comes up with IE installation dialog box, but it disappears and nothing else happens. msiexec keeps running for another 5 mins or so, but nothing else happens.

I am at a loss. Me and my colleague recreated the package about 5 times so far, from scratch, and the issue is still the same.

EXE works. MSI does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Response is not displayed in the iframe

hi all,

In my application, i pop-up a new window then set the Response display on it. And it worked in all of browser versions in my development and testing environments (IE10, IE9, IE11). But in my customer's browsers, they used the same IE version as mine, it does not worked. They said they updated some security patches from Microsoft. I try to run on Chrome, and it worked. I try some ways to simulate that issue in my PC, but the browser still can show the response. Is there any configurations to solve it on browser? Bellow is my code, Thanks.

var etc = "channelmode=0,dependent=0,directories=0,fullscreen=0,location=0,menubar=0,resizable=1,scrollbars=1,status=1,toolbar=0" + ",scrollbars=no,left = 0 , top = 0 , height=" + screen.availHeight + " , width="+ screen.availWidth ;

var newWindow = window.open('', "MyWindow123", etc );
newWindow.focus();

document.forms[0].target="MyWindow123";

d.method="POST";

d.submit();

IE 9 does not follow PAC file when redirected via 302

We have recently been experiencing an issue with IE9 in our environment. When a user tries to access a web page which is blocked by the proxy server they are redirected via a 302 to a block page on a specific port. This block page should itself be proxied as it has a specific section within the PAC file that instructs the browser to access this URL via the proxy.

When using Chrome, Firefox, IE8, IE10 or IE11 this works perfectly. When using IE9 the browser tries to go directly to the block page URL, rather than parsing the PAC file and sending the request to the proxy.

After extensive searching I have been unable to find this documented anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Jeremy.

Internet Explorer 11 - Print Preview or Print of long pages causes many blank pages

$

As a volunteer, I am creating a web site for a small church using Wix.com. On three of my web site's pages with lots of text, when using Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17239 Print Preview or Print, the page header prints, the remainder of the page is blank. There may be one or more blank pages and then the footer prints followed by some more blank pages and then, finally, the body text prints.

All other web site pages Print Preview and Print as they should. This problem only affects the three pages with a lot of body text.

I do not have this problem if I use Google Chrome.

When I copied one of the pages and shortened the body text, the shortened page works fine in Print Preview or Print.

I went through the steps in KB973479 and that did not resolve this problem.

I have Print Background Colors and Images checked.
I have Enable Shrink-to-Fit checked.
Un-checking them does not fix the problem.
Portrait or Landscape mode makes no difference.

I cannot log in to a website

Hello,

I am having trouble logging in to the UHRS Web in IE11.
I have to sign in with my WLID. I can remember it perfectly, still I have been unable to log in to the UHRS Web since 9/24, when I was suddenly disconnected.
There is no specific error.
I just go to the UHRS Web Entry Link.
I click on "Sign in with LiveID". Then I see the window where I usually enter my username (Microsoft account) and password. I enter them as usual, there is no message about the incorrect WLID or password, which happens when you enter the wrong ones. After that I click on "Sign in". This small window then disappears and nothing else happens, I stay where I have been and do not log in as usual.
The interesting fact is that everything is OK in IE11 (the same version) on my husband's computer. I log in without any problems.
On my computer, I have the latest IE version (IE 11). My antivirus program is OK. I have tried to scan my computer for viruses and spyware with different programs. No result. I still have difficulty logging in to the UHRS. It is the first time I have had such a problem since January.

I have tried all the steps suggested by the technical support team including clearing the application cache and disabling all the add-ons.

The problem seems to be in the browser or antivirus settings though I have not changed them myself in any way.

Is there anything I can do about it?

IE 10/11 does not free up, hangs - unkillable process

Hi!

I have a problem with IE since about 2 years now. IE does not close/exit correctly, i have always to do a system reboot!

IE 9 worked fine, never had a problem with this version. Since v10 and now v11 i cannot close IE completely. If i close the open tabs and exit IE, the program window closes, but there are still one or more 'iexplore.exe *32' processes running in the background (with massive RAM consumption - non growing). I always try to kill the open process(es), with no luck, it will not exit! I can restart IE again and can use it, but after exiting the hanged processes are still running. So i have always to do a system restart several times a day. This is unacceptable!

I tried following things till now to get rid of the problem (nothing worked!):
- starting/using IE 32bit with/without addons, IE 64bit (forced mode) with/without addons.
- un-/reinstalling Flash v10/v11/v12/v13/v14/v15
- trying to kill 'iexplore.exe' and 'iexplore.exe *32' with "Windows Task Manager", "Process Explorer", "Process Hacker", "System Explorer", "Advanced Process Termination", "taskkill.exe", "pskill.exe","killprocess.exe", "process.exe"

My PC:
Toshiba Satellite L670D - Win 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 - IE 11.0.9600.17280

IE Addons:
Adobe Shockwave Flash Object
Adobe PDF Reader
DivX Web Player Object
Microsoft Windows Media Player, Windows Live ID Sign-in Helper/Control, Silverlight, XML DOM Document, XSL Template, XML HTTP, Free Threaded XML DOM Document, VIDEO__X_MS_ASF Moniker Class, VIDEO__QUICKTIME Moniker Class
Oracle Deployment Toolkit
Skype Click to Call
Skype add-on for IE

Your help is very appreciated.
Thank you, Frank
