Sys.Services.AuthenticationService on IE 11

0
0

I have been using Sys.Services.AuthenticationService for a couple of years on my website but since I installed Internet Explorer 11 it is giving me problems. It is a javascript method that does an ajax style login. It calls the ASP.NETauthentication service and I use it for logging in a user without the page refreshing. I used this code that I found as an example (I have pretty much the same code myself):http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/bb398896%28v=vs.100%29.aspx

It is a very good way of logging in a user as it works in conjunction with the users that are in the ASP.NET membership tables. The above link does not show the web service but I am using one. I have a file called AuthService.asmx which calls AuthService.cs in the App_Code folder. This contains all the methods that correspond to the javascript (login, log out etc.) When they are called in the javascript they get called in the C# also.

My site is a Visual Studio ASP.NET website and I have placed all the javascript code from that link in the site.master page. It takes the username and password values from the aspx page. Once it goes into the Sys.Services.AuthenticationService.login part it goes to a back-end web service and calls a WebMethod called login. When I set a breakpoint on this method, run my site on localhost and call the login on Firefox or Chrome, it jumps into the method and works perfectly, logging the user in everytime.

In Internet Explorer it does not jump into the method, it just goes as far as the javascript call Sys.Services.AuthenticationService.login. The usernames and passwords are correct and I have authenticationService enabled in the web.config file. It is only an issue with Internet Explorer 11 as it worked perfectly on older versions.

If I type the name of the web service into IE 11's address bar, it displays the login web method and I can actually enter the username and password and then it jumps into the method in Visual Studio. It just won't do it in the javascript and as I say, it is only in IE 11.

I found some other posts online by people that had the same issue but not using Sys.Services.AuthenticationService. There seems to be a problem with Windows Authentication on this version of IE. The solutions I was advised to try were downloading fixes but they didn't work.

I know there have been issues with Ajax on IE 11 since it was released, this seems like another one. Has anyone had this issue before and resolved it?

Thank you for any replies.

Always facing the "Not Responding" issue while launching the internet explorer 11. I have tried reset in advanced, deleting all cookies, history and all. Also I did change the default site to https://www.google.com. But no result.

Some times after some time, able click on new tab and did open any urls. But it is rare. Please help me on this issue. Because of this unable to work with QTP/UFT tool.

I am getting on top of the screen the below error -

Error on top the ie screen :

res:/ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#google.com,https://www.google.com/ - Internet Explorer (Not Responding)

I am getting at the bottom of the screen the below error -

Error at the bottom of the ie screen :

A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab.

IE 10 won't load content into new tabs opened by links

I've recently 'upgraded' to IE 10 on multiple computers, differing manufacturers, both 32 and 64 bit all running Win 7 (home or pro), AND, I'm experiencing the same exact problem on all of them.

When I click on a link in say Gmail, or facebook, and the usual action would be to have the browser automatically open a new tab and display the content, now nothing happens. The tab opens (in the case of gmail 3 tabs open) with the same URL displayed as the original page, but it is utterly blank. And there it sits. No 404, not message, just blank. Right clicking on a link to choose to open in a new tab has the same result. If I paste an URL in the new tab it opens just fine.

It is the process of opening the tab and displaying the content from a link that fails. This is a deal breaker as it makes the experience so tedious as to be unusable.

I've never experienced this before, not even with the IE10 preview. The fact that I'm experiencing it on multiple non-identical computers makes me suspicious. I see others have experienced this in IE 9 and from what I can see there is no solution except to switch to chrome.

Anyone have any ideas?

downloading a binary via IE and getting the "corrupt or invalid" message

Hi,

I'm trying to resolve the issue when downloading a binary via IE and getting the "corrupt or invalid" message.

I've tried using the /tr switch instead of /t, however I still get the same problem.

I'm using the signtool.exe from SDK 8.1 and IE version 10.0.9200.17028

I've tried using the following time stamp server but it did not responded:

http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll

so I've used this one instead:

http://timestamp.globalsign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll

but even though I still get the "corrupt or invalid"  message.

Thanks

Hello, my modern IE 11 doesn't open web pages (can not open this web page), but classic IE open same pages in same time.

There's no any GP on this PC. I tried to delete and install IE thru "programs and features", but it didn't help.

Could you help me with this, guys?

Thank you.

Unstable Internet Explorer

Does anyone else agree with me that, if there wasn't so much money to be made creating worthless apps, maybe Microsoft could devote more resources towards getting IE to work better?

When surfing news sites, I have to use both IE and Google Chrome so that when one locks up or just refuses to do a task (usually IE), I can switch to the other browser to complete the task.

It's a shame that one browser can't "do it all". And with all the automatic updates I get from Microsoft, you would think something to improve IE would be part of one of these many update "packages".

But what's a little inconvenience to users when you can make a ton of money ignoring them for something more lucrative?

Evidently, in the eyes of Microsoft "Internet Explorer works good enough, thank you!".

File Transfer Manager Not Working on IE 11 - Win7

Hi Everybody,

after the IE11 has been installed on my system by windows update, the Microsoft File Transfer Manager (FTM) doesn't work anymore.

I think is because my system is 64bit and the IE11 runs always in 64bit mode even when it is started from "program files (x86)" folder.

I tried uninstall, reinstall and nothing.

I installed FTM by MSI file but without success.

I removed completely FTM from the system and acessed the Technet download site and the MSDN download site (to reinstall the activeX) but nothing happened.

Currently, I only can download files by direct download.

Any sugestions?

IE10 vs IE11 options in browser search results

0

Browser search: In IE10 when I open a site using search the site would automatically show a box which most closely matched my search criteria, like a person’s name and give me an option of going directly to where the information I want, is on a particular webpage. IE 11 doesn’t do that, at least on my computer.

Do you think it has something to do with popup blocker?

IE9 does not work when opened through PureVPN software

Installed PureVPN virtual private network software on my home PC, running Windows 7 Ultimate, and have tried to access the internet by opening Internet Explorer 9 through PureVPN - it just hangs up and will not proceed beyond partially opening up my IE9 login page.   Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox do not have any problems when opened through this PureVPN software.  PureVPN Tech Support says it is a Microsoft IE9 issue, not a PureVPN issue.   Any ideas for solutions?   Is it a matter of IE9 settings?    Thank you.

Testing Out-of-date ActiveX Control Blocking in IE

Trying to test Out-of-date ActiveX blocking on test domain before go live on Sept 9th. I installed August cumulative update on couple test Win 2008R2 and Win 7 machine. I see the IE Administrative template group policy editor, I enabled logging in Group Policy. Followed the instructions below to test it. I created AuditMode folder  in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ cause it didn't exist.

I don't see the notification bar in internet Explorer when I browse a site that uses java and nothing get logged. What am I doing wrong?

Testing the out-of-date ActiveX controls feature

If your organization has a dependency on an outdated version of Java, you can run the following test to mirror the end-user experience on September 9, 2014.
  1. On a test computer, install the August cumulative update
  2. Set a registry key to stop downloading updated versions of the VersionList.xml file. To do this, run the following command:
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\VersionManager" /v DownloadVersionList /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Important After testing is complete, you must delete this registry key. Otherwise, this computer will stop receiving an updated VersionList.xml file that lists the out-of-date ActiveX controls. We do not recommend ever setting this registry key on an in-production computer.
  3. Copy the current VersionList.xml file from
        versionlist.xml
    to the following location:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\VersionManager\versionlist.xml
Note If you are asked to overwrite the existing file, you should agree.
  4. To start blocking outdated versions of Java, open the VersionList.xml file, and then delete the first occurrence oflatestgroup="1" (that is, the portion in bold type that follows):

    < groupentries>
    < groupentry groupname="Java(TM)" latestgroup="1"/>
    < /groupentries>
  5. Restart Internet Explorer. You should see that websites that try to load outdated Java ActiveX controls will now display the out-of-date ActiveX control blocking notification.

[Forum FAQ] How to customize the default homepage of IE InPrivate Browsing using Process Monitor

0
0

Scenario

InPrivate Browsing enables you to surf the web without leaving a trail in Internet Explorer, more information about Inprivate Browsing can be found inInPrivate Browsing. When you start InPrivate Browsing, you will be presented with a default homepage. This article describes how to customize the default homepage of IE InPrivate Browsing using a tool named Process Monitor.

Method:

Step 1: Use Process monitor to find the related registry key.

The picture below is default IE InPrivate Browsing homepage by design, you may want to change it and set another webpage as you want.

We can use Process Monitor to capture all the processes when we start InPrivate Browsing.

    1. Open Process Monitor, and set the filter, as there’re many processes running on the background, we only need the processes about IE, there’re many choices for you to filter out what you want, like PID\Path\Architecture… etc. Here, we chose this: Process Name, and type “iexplore.exe”. The figure is shown in the following link: https://bbqfqa.bn1304.livefilestore.com/y2p8Anl7uxOfnyER5PKAAqlxMEyEDXPy7Kiyd0Is422simYuRZ0U9gpktSNl6QqWLNd1Z8nyvbXxhd48GSdVXJGcF-GKx1qt0I0Q0SOVnU8cyg/1.PNG?psid=1
    2. After all IE processes are filtered out, we click the “registry” icon because we suspect that the default homepage of InPrivate Browing might be related with something stored in registry, then the tool will show us how IE accesses the registry entry during the InPrivate Browsing starting process.
    3. To quickly find the entry we need, click Edit\Find, then type “inprivate” to help us locate to the right entries, the keyword depends on the case we’re handling. The figure is shown in the following link: https://bbqfqa.bn1304.livefilestore.com/y2pQQSfqnrMV7VZQJVdpZ6gMpuPb3LznLDjAlo4rUsbtnXYq2JGnGEPNKWx7kOJur-v4hjc881BOsPRmof4A7A0Z29c6jN0EligP9cvcVBdBY0/2.PNG?psid=1
    4. According to the filtered result which as shown in the following figure, there are two related entries:HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs\InPrivate HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs\InPrivate                                  NOte: If we’re in a 32 bit system, we will only found one related entry: HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs\InPrivate.The two entries both have the value res://ieframe.dll/inprivate.htm which is the default homepage of InPrivate Browsing by design, then we suspect that these 2 registry keys could be what we want to figure out. The figure is shown in the following link:  https://bbqfqa.bn1304.livefilestore.com/y2pt8AclVZlU-S-ij9Ly2M9bZ7iGJMz0_14SMStPqTB77r0DQlUkXaH3-xukAC8o0aqvoAAbi4-3DC_SDiTlOqcFdsxbTjKv8Zfbl7nk6GrSn8/3.PNG?psid=1

Step 2: Verify the keys and customize the default page in IE InPrivate Browsing.Note: Before you make changes to a registry key or subkey, we recommend that you export, or make a backup copy, of the key or subkey.

Now let’s see which registry key is controlling this setting (maybe both), change each one to see the results.

If OS is 64 bits system, we will find that the only need is to modify the value

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs\InPrivate

If OS is 32 bits system, we will find that the only need is to modify the value

HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs\InPrivate

For example, we change it to http://www.microsoft.com, then restart PC. After starting IE InProvate Browing, we directly get the result which is shown as in the following link:

https://bbqfqa.bn1304.livefilestore.com/y2p_GZD8KyDFQnRQAXVzXocyEaDS4Eq0gSujaKrqNDT0BJT7ufrFctkjt418h8H1NVdMc_QHO_Hi6D2N4gEGiDMo3rEhfaze6jzM8NpZkWtq-Q/4.PNG?psid=1

Apply to:

  • Internet Explorer 8
  • Internet Explorer 9
  • Internet Explorer 10
  • Internet Explorer 11

Google Visualization Chart appears on all browsers except IE

We have a Google Combochart in our website homepage.

http://www.globalforcestn.com/

The chart shows in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. But it just won't appear in IE. It appears when I click "InPrivate" browsing though. So it's a big mystery to me why this is happening.

Any idea about this? Thanks in advance!

Cannot stop my homepage from being hijacked and have used various uninstallers, virus and spyware scans, manual removal and followed all Microsoft's recommendations for resetting browser etc. and nothing works. Last resort is to simply remove IE and use google chrome that works.
