I like to shop on a particular retail website. About six months ago when I entered the site, I found that I could not click into the detail. The site displays as normal but when I click on a heading e.g. dresses, another page comes up with headings but it is blank where the individual items should be. I contacted the company but apart from some suggestion about cookies they were of no help. The problem has persisted, and this is the only site that I have this problem with.
I use Windows 7 and IE 10.0

Can't run IE 10 Administrator Toolkit Branding Silently

Hi,

I recently updated an image to IE 10 and in doing so I now can only apply Favorites using the Administrators Toolkit. Before you could put them in Default User/Favorites and they would import into IE 10 but no longer. For some reason the Default user favorite info doesn't transfer to the appropriate folder.

My problem is that while I've made the branding msi I can't run it silently. I get the message below and must click Install and then OK when it is finished.

This is clearly not a silent install. I shouldn't have to agree to any license terms--this is for administrators to use for deployment.

Please help and/or fix.

I've run it with /qn, /quiet, and /passive and all get the same thing. I've run it by itself and as an application in Deployment Toolkit.

Thanks.

EDIT: I may have found a possible solution.

IE10-Setup-Branding.exe has a quiet switch set for /Q which you can see if you run it with /?

This still doesn't explain the usual msiexec quiet switches not working--which is a pretty standard deployment tool for IT admins.

I have seen lots of posts but no answers.

I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed from MSDN. I am running IE10 and I go to my Linksys router and get the usual certificate error. In all previous versions of IE, you could just click continue and move forward. IE10 does not all this, please let me know where this setting is so I can use IE10, I hope I am not forced to use Chrome. Also there is no option to run as IE9 for some reason.

TabProcGrowth=1 but still seeing more than 2 iexplore.exe processes on task bar

Hello,

We are running IE 8.  We have set the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main “TabProcGrowth” to 1 (dword:00000001).  However, we have noticed that sometimes, even with this setting, there are more than 2 iexplore.exe processes running in the task bar.  IE8 usually freezes and we have issues running certain apps.

What could cause more than two iexplore.exe sessions if the TabProcGrowth is set to 1?  Could some other registry setting or group policy be overriding this setting?

Thanks,

JIrwin.

IE 10 failed installation on Win 7 x64

Recently I attempted to install IE 10 on my windows 7 SP1 x64 machine.

Initial setup did not complete and error'd out with error code 9c59 when using windows update.

My system now thinks that IE 10 is installed but it is not.

Looking in "Turn Windows Features on or off" it shows "Internet Explorer 10"

Looking in "View installed updates"  it shows "Windows Internet Explorer 9"

Looking in the CBS.log I see the following entries when I try to re-install IE 10

If I try to re-install IE 9 it says "Setup can't continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computur.

If I try to install IE 10 via Windows Updates, it fails with error 9c59, and the errors above are in the cbs.log.

If I try to install IE 10 using setup  "IE10-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe", installation fails with same cbs.log entries.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, so I can complete the setup of IE 10.

Cannot open .pdf documents in Internet Explorer 9

Since upgrading to IE9 (64 bit) I cannot open pdf docs, instead I get a message box asking me "What do you want to do with NavController?"  Options are Open, Save & Save As. Open does nothing, Save & Save As only save as a file type I can't access (NavController).  I do have the Adobe add-on enabled, the website from which I'm trying to open the file is added as a safe site, and I've tried reloading Adobe to no avail.   Any ideas?  Thanks

Hi there

as IE10 still doesn't have a Click2Play option I'd like to request this feature to be added in the next Version or even with a Patch! ( Win8.1 ? )

You all know that Java and Flash are a pain in the a**. But in most environments they still are required.

It would help Admins a lot if youd just add this feature. If the Browser wont Autoplay every stupid AddOn, Security would increase, and Terminal-servers could get a breath :)

Microsoft Update Catalog problems

Is anyone else having problems clicking on the browse button after being UAC'd when attempting to download a file from the Catalog?

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/DownloadInformation.aspx

In addition, even if UAC works, I get a cryptic proxy prompt asking me to enter my credentials to the "proxy-server."

I can't be the only one experience this. This is with Internet Explorer 8.x.

IE 11 pre-approve Browser Helper Objects / add-ons

Hello,

I'm preparing Win 8.1 preview image with MDT 2013 beta and I have a problem making Internet Explorer 11 pre-approve Browser Helper Objects.

I'm installing MS Office 2013, Adobe Acrobat XI, Java 1.6 in the State Restore state (so after the Windows first boots up).

When I start IE 11 for the first time on every user I have a popup to enable the following addons:

Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper - ClassID {DBC80044-A445-435B-BC74-9C25C1C588A9}

Microsoft SkyDrive Pro Browser Helper - ClassID {D0498E0A-45B7-42AE-A9AA-ABA463DBD3BF}

Office Document Cache Handler - ClassID {B4F3A835-0E21-4959-BA22-42B3008E02FF}

Lync Browser Helper - ClassID {31D09BA0-12F5-4CCE-BE8A-2923E76605DA}

Adobe PDF Link Helper - ClassID {18DF081C-E8AD-4283-A596-FA578C2EBDC3}

I've tried to add those ClassIDs to Win8.1 unattend.xml into PreApprovedAddons, InstalledBrowserExtensions, InstalledBHOLIst in Specialize phase but without any luck.

I also tried to add them using GPO "Add-on list" in Administrative Templates for Machine and User - still no luck

I've added them manualy under HKCU / HKLM \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\PreApproved

as well as HKCU / HKLM \Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Approved Extensions

no luck

All of those methods doesn't work and I'm still getting "Several add-ons are ready for use." prompt each time IE is started on a new profile.

Can you please share any ideas about it?

Best Regards,

Bartek

Internet Explorer 10 New Tab problem

$

Ok, I’am domain admin and recently, I have created User IE 10 GPP (User Configuration > Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Internet Settings (Internet Explorer 10)) and general IE GPO. There is small number of workstations with IE 10 installed, and there I have one big problem: IE 10 open target="_blank" links in new window instead of new tab!

In User GPP for IE 10 (xml: max="99.0.0.0" min="10.0.0.0"), which is created under windows server 2012, I have this settings:

https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8D315521CDDFD66F!1130 (1.png)

No GPO is defined for tab behavior.

That GPP is successfully applied to the workstations with IE 10.

https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8D315521CDDFD66F!1130 (2.png)

But, then the problem starts:

if user IS member local or domain admin group, IE 10 open links with target="_blank" in new tab.

If user IS NOT member of local or domain admin group, every target="_blank" is open in new window. Even CTRL + mouse click open normal links in new window, instead of new tab. Same as if I right click link and select "open in new tab" - new windows again!

I did reset IE settings (Internet Options > Advanced > Reset) couple of times on many workstations, it didnt help.

Please help me, that problem is so irritating, and (non admin) users are angry, and after so many hours spend trying to solve the problem, nothing worked out.

IE 9 does not open downloads

Running Windows 7 SP1, IE 9.  I have no trouble downloading files, but when I click "Open" the download never opens, regardless of the file type.  I've reporduced this with executables, Word DOC files and Adobe PDF files among others.  I thought the problem might be Norton Antivirus, so I removed it, but the problem still occurred.  I have tried setting IE settings to the default, still no go.  Any ideas?

Automatic logon with current username and password doesn't work sometimes for IE when LDAP is used-- Chrome has no problem -- Any Fixes?

I have already posted the question to Microsoft's IE support site at,

forum--> ie9-windows_7 --> automatic-logon-with-current-username-and-password

and I was asked to post the question in this tech form. Below is the question again,

Does anyone know why IE during Single Sign on session(IE8 and IE9) sends a authorization header and no request data during AJAX request even though session is valid?

What happens due to this our backend WCF service doesn't receive request parameters and the entire single sign on session fails, so user has to redo the entire login process.

Chrome and Firefox both doesn't have this problem.

Below is the detail of what I am doing,

1) We are using WCF Service.
2) We have enabled AD Login(Single sign on) with IE by adding our site to trusted site
and adding the Security -> Trusted site zone -> Custom leval -> Automatic logon with current username and password
3) We are sending AJAX request via ExtJS to get some backend data for our website.
4) Everything works most of the time
but for some reason sometimes the IE doesn't send request parameter (the content length is 0).
That causes our services to fail because it didn't got the parameters it needed(Actually we validate the para and throw service error).
We are not sure why it happens. I have searched internet and found there are similar complaints at,

pcreview.co.uk (Can't post the url here because this blog doesn't allow Urls)

But no answer exactly whats going on.
The problem happens for both IE8 and IE9.
We haven't tried IE10 and can't because our end users are not going to upgrade to IE10 or later.
The issue doesn't happen for Chrome.
Below are the fiddler logs(raw format) for request and response, (Not sure why authentication header is send while the session already exist).

IE8/9 says every file "contained a file and was deleted"

I have multiple computers on my domain that will not download files or attachments in IE8 and 9.  It says "<filename> contained a virus and was deleted".  Everything will download fine in Chrome and Firefox and these files do not contain viruses - it happens on every file I try to download, or every attachment in all emails.

Is there a setting in IE that is causing this - it is happening on about 30 computers out of 100 in our domain - all with the same group policy settings for IE.

We are clueless and frustrated to figure this out and ready to just roll out Chrome to everybody to fix the problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

Just upgraded from IE9

Since the upgrade every new tab or page generates a script error:

Line: 1

Error: Unable to get property 'style' of undefined or null reference

I have :

reset internet explorer, disabled all addins, run as administrator

Any other ideas?

IE9 won't open a lot of pages.  It just opens a new tab that is a blank screen and a empty tab title.  The extension types all vary.  However, if I cut and paste the link in a new tab it will work.  I already tried to down grade the version to 8, but it says its unsupported by windows 7 64 bit, funny I started with 8...

IEAK8 and SCCM/GPO

I am planning to move my organisation to Internet Explorer 8. We are on IE7 at the moment We are planning to go to Windows 7 on IE9 but an urgent requirement for IE8 has come up in the interim.

I am reading Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Deployment Guide and there is a large section on the IEAK8 option but as we do not customize the web page to take advantage of branding etc I am using SCCM to deploy the package and GPOs to set the customisation options.

Is this strategy I have OK am I missing something about IEAK8?

Please advise

Logged in as Domain Admin, I am trying to install Trend Micro OfficeScan on a Windows Server 2008 Ent x64 running IE9 using the Client Install. I am able to do this process on win svr 2003

I get the following error when i go to the client installer link:

Message from webpage
Cannot load ActiveX control successfully. Please reopen this page and accept to install the control.

After i click ok on the prompt the "Install Now" button becomes inactive or greyed out.

I do not see any prompt to allow ActiveX.

I am sure I need to change something relating to ActiveX under the Security tab in Internet Options but not sure what.
