I am trying to update to Internet Explorer 10 or 11.  I keep getting the message that I need to install Windows7SP! or Server 2008R2SP!.  I have tried to download from the downloads in Windows. I download what it tells me to do but it still isn't working and I keep getting the same error message.  What do I need to do?

IE 11 Temporary Internet Files Settings

0
0

Hello!

I want to set IE settings for everyone in my company to the desired goal.

This is the desired goal.

Open IE.

Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Settings.

I want under Temporary Internet Files:

Check for newer version of stored pages to be Every time I visit the webpage

and

Disk Space to use to be 8mb

Initially I tried to set this using a GPO but I have not found anything to do thisfor IE 11 in my research.

I figured instead I could also have a simple script run on all the computers every day to set the settings.

I found I can run this for the 'Check for newer versions of stored pages' setting and it does the trick:

Just changing SyncMode5 to 3

reg add "HKCU\software\microsoft\Windows\CurrrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0" /v SyncMode5 /t REG_DWORD /d 00000003 /f

I then try to do something similar for the 'Disk space to use'

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content" /v CacheLimit /t REG_DWORD /d 8192 /f

This changes the appropriate Registry Key if I look at the Registry editor, but then I pull up Internet Options -> settings and see that the "disk space to use" has not changed.

If I then Manually change this to a different amount of MB I can go to the registry editor and see the same registry key:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content\CacheLimit has changed.

I figure there must be another key to be changed. A lot of places online say to change the

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\Content\CacheLimit

but that didn't even exist. I tried to make it, and set the appropriate registry key, and that did not work either.

or

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\ContentLimit

and that worked the same way -- manual changes from IE options show here, but when I change in regEdit it doesn't get changed in IE.

Any advise on how to manage the companies settings, or how to set the Registry Key would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

IE sporadically aborting images being downloaded over SSL

For an out-of-the-box application deployed to our web servers, a few images are sporadically not being downloaded and the broken image (X) is displayed. The images that fail to download will vary from test to test but are typically restricted to the images in the left navigation menu bar. There are 5 navigation images and usually 1-3 will be broken for any given request to the page. The images are *.png and size ranges from 6000-8000 bytes.  There are several other images on the page but they never seem to be an issue.

This problem only occurs using HTTPS and IE (tried versions 8, 9, 10, 11). IE works fine over HTTP and the web application works fine in Chrome and Firefox (both HTTP and HTTPS). This affects all users (small user base at this time).  Most users are running Windows 7 but this also fails when IE client is run from Windows Server 2008 R2.

In working with the web application vendor they were not able to replicate the issue in their local test environment. This problem occurs in all of our environments (test, uat, prod). Another out-of-the-box application provided by same vendor deployed to same web servers does not have the issue (but doesn’t have as many images).

While working the web application vendor, we were looking at a Wireshark trace that showed the client (IE) was cancelling the request for image(s) just milliseconds after the initial request was made for no apparent reason.

We have tried numerous IE setting changes (including IE Reset Settings).

Any suggestions on what could be causing this issue or how to further troubleshoot the issue to identify the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Internet Explorer keeps changing proxy settings

Hi,

I'm facing a strange problem on a lot of Windows machines at my company: the Internet Explorer proxy settings keeps changing.

The proxy settings are being set by a Domain GPO, but on several machines the proxy settings revert back do "Automatically detect settings" from time to time. I'm pretty sure that the GPO is rightly configured. I just need to rungpupdate /force to correct the proxy settings. And all machines have a up-to-dated antivirus software installed.

Now the strange thing: while using Procmon to find out which process changed the AutoConfigURL registry key, I found thatiexplore.exe process executed by itself a RegDeleteKey command to clear this key.

I've tried disabling several add-ons, but the problem is still happening. Does anyone know if there is a way to discover "what" inside IE is removing the proxy configurations? Or if something is invoking IE to do this nasty job? :P

IE Producing Double Orders In eCommerce Site With SSL

Since June 14 2014 IE (all versions other than the latest for Windows 7) Has been producing double orders in our eCommerce web site.

2 orders ie. 00599 and 00600

2 Authorize.net billings

Turning off SSL in our shop stops this. Our developer as been looking for a fix but hasn't had any luck. many using this platform stared having the same issue.

It would seem IE is seeing both pages the ssl and and none ssl. How can this happen right out of the blue? and does anyone have any idea how this can be corrected?

Internet Explorer Intranet Security Zone not Keeping Sites

0
0

At my work, whenever we log into sharepoint for the first time we have to actually input our name and password. After logging in, we add our sharepoint site to the local intranet security zone so that it automatically will sign us in from that point on. However, whenever I try to add the site to my personal local intranet zone (as in the one on my computer, as this has worked on many others) it does not stay. As soon as I exit the window where I added the site, it is completely erased from the face of the planet. I also have tried adding it to the Trusted Sites zone, but that doesn't seem to be working either.

In an attempt to fix this problem, I have looked at all of my settings, including advanced, but have not seen anything that looks particularly wrong. Being as this didn't seem to be the problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled IE 11. This still warranted no change. Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone at least know what I can do to fix it?

Custom protocol handler is not executed in unload event

I have a Windows application which opens a web application at a certain point which gives back the control to the Windows app with a custom protocol handler call (myprot://xy/continue) as source of a hidden iframe that I create and remove again when it's loaded.

Everything works fine when the user finishes correctly but I also want to handle an abortion when the user closes the browser. In Chrome and Firefox it works perfectly fine to make the protocol handler call in the onbeforunload event but in IE the iframe is not created. If I use other protocols like http or ftp it is created and works perfectly. I also tried just setting the src attribute of an existing iframe. The source is changed in the DOM but agin for the custom protocol nothing is executed - only http or ftp calls are made.

This seems a bit odd that only my custom protocol isn't executed. Does anybody has a clue what I could do or is there a security setting so that my protocol is declared as safe?

Hello, I have created a shortcut to start IE11 in desktop mode, but there is a problem - when I have it set to open tabs from last session it freezes every time upon launch and I have to kill the parent process. Then it suddenly starts working and opens the tabs from before.

Bypass proxy for FQDN with private ip addresses

0

We have Windows 7 with IE 11

We need this IE behavior:

"to all FQDN names that resolves to local (private) ip addresses - do not use proxy."

how can we implement this?

("Bypass Proxy Server for Local Addresses" Option don't work as needed)

Cannot connect to external websites

Working in a corporate enviroment that all of a sudden machines cannot access the Internet via Internet Explorer versions 8 - 10 .  User "A" on Machine "A" is working normal then randomally (during the day or another day) User "A" on Machine "A" cannot access the Internet, but User "B" on Machine "A" it works fine for.  Or User "A" on Machine "B" it works fine for.

We use a Automatic Configuration Script, .PAC file, which is applied via User Setting in the GPO.  When opening IE > Internet Options > LAN Settings we see that the .PAC file path is shown.  If we click cancel on this screen then User "A" still cannot access the Internet, but if we click OK (with or without making any change to this screen) then User "A" can now access the Internet.

We ran WireShark on Machine "A" while User "A" was having the issue and it appears that IE tries to access the Proxy directly without using the .PAC file which our Proxy rejects it.  Once we fix it with the workaround then Machine"A" with User "A" shows that the .PAC file is being used and is able to access the Internet.

If we use Chrome which uses the same Internet Option settings as IE all works all of the time even if IE is having the issue.

We are getting about 150 calls a month on this and we are unable to reproduce it at will..

KB 2962872 hoses Sony Vegas

I have several laptops that are running Sony Vegas 12 and since the update KB2962872 has been pushed out, they can no longer render video or even view it in Vegas. We have also tried viewing the same video (raw) in VLC player and the video is so choppy its unusable. I have restored the machines to prior to the update and it works fine. Unfortunately, I have had to set the updates to download and we select which ones to install. I have 300 users across 5 statewide sites. This causes some major issues when I try to get to all of them. These are local news stations and can not be without video editing. When will this update be replaced?

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

We recently migrated our SSL sites from Window 2003 server to Window 2012 server.  Everything is working fine for Window 7 users.  For XP users, they were getting "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message.  They can access the newly migrated sites by Google Chrome but just not IE.  Any ideas?  Is there any IIS settings that need to be done?

Internet Explorer Hangs When Using Send Link By Email

0
0

I have a user that used the Send Link by Email function within IE for years without issue. We recently upgraded the user from Office 2010 and IE 9 to Office 2013 and IE 10. This update caused IE to hang when she used the Send Link function. It wouldn't hang until she hit send in Outlook and Outlook wouldn't hang at all. The email would go through, but IE would hang and need to be restarted/killed through Task Manager. I am running Win8.1 while she is on 7, and the function works fine for me, but I don't think that is the issue.

There is nothing showing up in Event Viewer that would tip me off to a solution. I checked and unchecked Cached Exchange Mode and this changed nothing. She is up to date with her updates for Windows and Office. I updated her to IE 11 in case IE 10 was causing the issue, as I can use the Send Link by Email function fine with Office 2013/IE 11.

The thing that is odd is when Outlook is started in safe mode (outlook.exe /safe), everything works perfectly. I checked her add-ins against my add-ins and they are the same; again, I am able to use the Send Link as Email function with no issue.

Are there any other troubleshooting steps that I am missing?

Issue to access website (flash) for certain users on RDS server

Hello,

I have an RDS server where several users access same.

I have a local web site where users needs to access (like Intranet). The contents of the website consist of flash etc.

Flash installations on my RDS server:

- Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX

- Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin

Issue:

- Some users can access the Intranet website without any issue.

- But some users are getting the following error when they open the Intranet site:

"Alternate HTML content should be placed here. This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash"

- I thought there was some kind of GPO that was blocking the display of flash but it is not the case.

I have several users under one OU where some users can access the site and other users in same OU cannot access same.

Grateful to advise urgently as this is a PROD issue.

Internet Explorer 11 freezes/glitches when in Anz banking website and comes up" Anz isn't responding" and then closes down.

HI,

I've been having trouble with ( IE) Internet Explorer 11 version:(11.0.9600.17207IS )-(KB2962872) for over a year on my desktop with ANZ Internet banking, when i go into this website, it freezes and comes up" Anz isn't responding" and then inside of icon comes up "Recover Webpage" so I click that and then it comes up"Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" and then closes down.

But on my laptop I have no trouble with Anz and it has a different  version:(11.0.9600.17207).

Can some one tell me what the IS is on the end of the first version mean and how can I install the version without the IS on end of number on my desktop, as this version is causing the problem.

I have been in Microsoft Community with Yaqub Khan-Microsoft Support Engineer and he recommend me come here, as we have done many steps without problem fixed.

Do you know how I can copy that info from there to here, so you can see the steps we have already done, or can you go in there and see.

Thanks

Can't delete favorites from IE 10 - Windows 8

Yesterday out of the blue some old pages from my favorites list reappeared.  I deleted these in the past and now they just showed up.  When I right click on them to delete them or go to organize favorites to delete them, they delete for a few seconds, but then reappear.  I try again and again, but they just keep coming back.  The "favorites bar" in my favorites list does the same thing.  I have also gone to users/profile/favorites to try and delete them and they just come back.

I've run multiple scans with my antivirus software and spybot software, but it didn't fix it.

Anyone know how to fix this or know what the problem could be?  I am not a tech guy, just an average joe, but can get around windows decently.

Thanks for your help.
