IE10 install failes

$

I am trying to install IE10NL on some clients but every times it has another reason to not install but everytimes it failes. Several times the log shows this (see beneath). Other times another log.

We are deploying thru System Centre Essentials which uses WSUS to deploy. In system centre essentials for the clients it always shows the error: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: IE10NL. even when IE10NL has succeeded after three times...but this is a problem from sce i believe.

I have installed all the prerequisites according to this site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2818833 and another one i have added myself because that update has also shown in ie10main.log KB2639308.
The IE10 install starts every day with WIndows updater from client to WSUS server at 13:00 PM, but i have also tried it manually..

I am beginning to think that it is not possible to install IE10NL thru WSUS or whatever because he is missing something in Windows 7 SP1 every time but what do i need this time to succesfully deploy IE10?

The following i noticed on some clients in IE10main.log:

Recently purchased a used business Dell computer from Dell (optiplex 745). Computer will not allow unchecking op proxy server. Tried command prompt "netsh winhttp reset proxy", this did not help the situation. I believe this computer was used by a company the had several computer linked to a proxy server. We are a small company and this is the only computer at our business. When attempting to log on to the internet get the message proxy server not responding. Can you help us fix this problem?

Caps Lock Detection

$

I recently upgraded our Citrix environment from IE 8 to IE10 and we are now getting Caps Lock warning balloon popups on password fields which did not appear in the old version.  Our users typically use all caps passwords so having the Caps Lock feature on makes it much easier for them to type their password in.

These balloon popups are blocking the buttons that a user needs to click on to complete their logon into the application.

Is there anyway to disable those balloons from appearing without changing the page code? If not, is there a way to change the way they are displayed (smaller, different location, etc..), again, without changing the page code itself?

Disabling Addons in IE9 (Adobe Reader 11)

Hi everyone,

My company are about to make the move to Adobe Reader 11. Everything is ready to be deployed via SCCM, but we need to disable the Adobe Reader addon in IE.

Preferably at the HKLM level or by GPO so no users can activate it. Is this possible? I've seen many similar unanswered posts. If it comes down to it I may just make a script to delete the DLL it uses, but I've yet to see if this has a knock on effect.

Kind regards,

DJ

Patch for the lastest zero day vulnerability

Hi

Microsoft has released a patch for the latest zero day vulnerability. In the pagehttps://support.microsoft.com/kb/2887505 it is written:

"You must have security update 2870699 installed for this Fix it to provide effective protection against this issue."

Question: What happens if this path is installed and 2870699 has not been installed yet?

a: Will not provide effective protection against this issue before 2870699 has been installed - but work fine when it has been installed?

or

b: Will never provide effective protection against this issue if 2870699 is installed after the fix in 2887505.

Thanks in advance

Best regards Harald

Hey all... Hoping to figure out why it is when I play an audio/video stream in IE 11.  I have cleaned cache, tried to disable plugins. But IE will always crackle. However, Google Chrome will play the exact same stream just fine.

Thanks all for any assistance to the problem.

IE Producing Double Orders In eCommerce Site With SSL

Since June 14 2014 IE (all versions other than the latest for Windows 7) Has been producing double orders in our eCommerce web site.

2 orders ie. 00599 and 00600

2 Authorize.net billings

Turning off SSL in our shop stops this. Our developer as been looking for a fix but hasn't had any luck. many using this platform stared having the same issue.

It would seem IE is seeing both pages the ssl and and none ssl. How can this happen right out of the blue? and does anyone have any idea how this can be corrected?

OS chooses WWW SPN for proxy instead of HTTP

Hi.

Our company uses Squid proxy-server (kerberos + ntlm auth). About 1000 Windows-clients authorise perfect but one can't do it (Windows 7).

I enable ntlm and kerberos logs on this workstation and found that OS (any browser - opera, ie) try to call WWW/proxy SPN (which not exists), not HTTP/proxy.

Event 8001 from problem station:

Kerberos error example from problem WKS (it's on russian in original -- i translate some field names):

Please, can you explain me, why OS try to use www/proxy SPN, but not http/proxy on this workstation? And how to fix it?

Facebook videos play, but foreground is blank white.

In internet explorer 11, running the latest version of flash, Facebook videos will load and play, but the video is replaced with a blank white box. I can hear sound, and when the bottom bar is visible the bottom portion of the video is visible in the background. The flash player settings do come up on the object when right clicking and selecting 'Settings.' While the settings dialogue is up, the video is again visible in the background, faded.

I confirmed that videos play correctly in Google Chrome, but the computer's main user dislikes using other browsers. As far as I could conclude, videos on other sites play correctly.

I searched for solutions to this issue, but I have yet to find it described anywhere near the same, nor has any general solution or quick-fix worked yet.

Things I have tried:
Resetting IE settings
Resetting IE advanced settings
Resetting IE advanced settings and personal data
Disabling Hardware Acceleration
Uninstalling & Reinstalling video drivers
Uninstalling & Reinstalling IE11
Uninstalling & Reinstalling Java
Uninstalling & Reinstalling Flash
Installing Shockwave player seperately
Uninstalling IE11, Java, and Flash, rebooting and cleaning up unused system files and registry errors, then reinstalling everything

None of these seem to have any effect.

IE11 Rendering Issue

Before I get into the details of the problem let me provide you all a little background.

I was using IE11 successfully about 4 months ago with zero issues; however, due to a client related issue I had to roll back to IE8.  Yesterday I decided to move back to IE11, this is when my problems started.  First, the install process was a pain in the butt but I got it working.  I keep getting 9C59 errors during the Windows Update so I decided to install manually.  During the manual process I keep getting "Neutral MSU installation failed" and "Neutral package installation failed" exceptions with the following code: (14101) [The identities of the manifests are identical but their contents are different.].

I was able to resolve those errors by doing two things.  First, I ran Microsoft Update Standalone Package, log info below, had to wait 30 minutes after it finished to run the IE9 installer, this was the key part, don't ask me why.  Last I ran the following command:

mklink /D c:\Windows\SysNative c:\Windows\system32

After all of this I as able to get IE9, IE10, and IE11 installed.  Now comes my problem....

I have multiple VMs running IE11 and the webserver, (server 2012 R2 IIS8.5) hosting our .NET Framework 4.5 application, is running IE11 as well.  All of those machines render the page just fine.  My machine is not.  Below are the steps that I've tried to resolve this:

-Tried deleting the temporary internet files, cache, and everything else I can think of yet IE11 still renders the page incorrectly.

-Compared my local IE settings to the other machines to make sure they match up perfectly.

-Compared the "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer" directories to make sure they match up perfectly, including the File Version.

-Compared the "C:\Windows\servicing\Packages" directory IE and Internet Explorer packages.

The "C:\Windows\servicing\Packages" is the only place that looks different to me.  I still have this listing for "Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~8.0.7601.17514.mum_old0" however I'm not sure how to delete it.  CheckSUR says it fixed the issue but the file is still there so I'm a little confused by that.

If anyone has any ideas on what could cause this problem or if you'd like me to provide more details or file information please let me know.

P.S.

I've also noticed something odd where my IE11 will randomly freeze for about 10 seconds when I try to close out of it.   Also, I don't remember any of the problems prior to me rolling back to IE8 months ago.

Thanks!

Extra Tabs opening in Internet Explorer

I use the following Powershell code to configure the IE Home Pages:

## Set Internet Explorer Home Pages in registry
Write-Verbose "Setting Internet Explorer Home Pages"
$HPKey = "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\main"
$URL1 = "http://www.williamblair.com"
$URL2 = "http://www.wbremote.com"

Start-Process iexplore.exe
Stop-Process -ProcessName iexplore

Set-ItemProperty -Path $HPKey -Name "Start Page" -Value $URL1
Set-ItemProperty -Path $HPKey -Name "Secondary Start Pages" -Value $URL2

Everything gets set correctly, but when i first start IE, I get extra tabs that open up with strange Chinese characters in them in addition to the home pages I select.

Anyone have any ideas why this happens?

Internet Explorer 11 https certificate error

$

Hi,

I have been getting certificate errors from most of https websites on my enterprise computers (wich are on a network domain). The problema resides mostly in computers with Windows Vista x86 Business and Windows 7 x64 Professional with SP1. I started having this erros after Internet Explorer upgraded to version 10. Today most computers with Windows 7 on my network have Internet Explorer 11.

If I try to access https://www.google.pt it gives me a certificate error, if I try to acesshttps://login.live.com it also gives me a certificate error in Internet Explorer 11 and 10. I can access those websites with Firefox or Chrome. But there are a few websites that also do not work on those browsers either. I have a bionic software that I need to install and the installation method is done throught the web, and because of the certificate error it does not let me install it.

What is most odd is the fact that when I am installing a new workstation, before I join the domain, I can access those websites and I dont get certificate errors. Also, if I try to access those websites on my DNS server I dont get certificate errors either.

I tested this on some workstations without Kaspersky Endpoint Security Agent installed, but I still get certificate errors.

I do not know what else I can do really.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks everyone.

My autistic son likes to play flash games (Friv.com) on a Lenovo AIO running Win 8, but it's driving us crazy.  He opens multiple tabs with multiple games.  We get a 'wall of sound' because the active tab and all of the background tabs continue playing, and we can't figure out a way to mute the background tabs.  Any ideas on how to solve this in IE 10 (or is it a setting in Win 8)?  TIA.

IE 11 - Open in new Tab Not Working

When I click on a link that should open in a new tab (or right-click and select Open in new Tab), IE11 Opens a new tab but the screen is blank, the URL is about:blank and the tab title is 'Blank Page'.

Windows 8.1 x64
Internet Explorer 11 (Desktop)

The 'Metro' version of IE 11 still works fine, it's just the Desktop version which is broken.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the similar thread, but none have helped.

Group Policy not populating IE11's compatibility sites.

We normally do not allow IE updates, but we got a pallet of new computers with IE11 preinstalled on them from Dell.  I figured now is a good time to get this working in our environment.

The issue is that under our group policy settings are not putting the websites we need in compatibility mode.  I have verified the group policy is applied to my computer using rsop.msc and I verified the settings in there.  However when I try to visit our loan application which runs at http://192.168.1.9 it shows a browser not supported message and says to use IE 5.5 or later.  Well if one were to manually add the site in compatibility mode, then it would work.  So we want to avoid the calls to IT Support on how to add sites to compatibility mode and just control it from our end via Group Policy.

So under User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Compatibility View : we have these set:

Include updated Web site lists from Microsoft - Enabled

Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites - Enabled

  Show:

   http://192.168.1.9    (our lending application)

   https://another website

http://192.168.1.15   (our lending application test site for new upcoming releases)
