IE11 restricted users opens links in new window instead new tab

0
0

Hello,

Have a problem. All restricted users, on several machines when try to open link in new tab, link opens in new window instead new tab. Pressing ctrl+K or ctrl+T works fine. Resetting browser setting didn't help. Red cross near resetting user customizations. Administrators don't have this problem. OS: Windows 7 x64 + IE 11. Machine belongs to workgroup. All available updates are installed. Is there any decision?

Thanks

Websites (OWA and some intranet sites) are not accessible by domain computers outside LAN

Hi All,

I have been facing an issue of website inaccessibility (sites are hosted on IIS7.0 in our network including OWA) on domain computers when they are connected outside of the local network. Sites are accessible using other browsers, and the issue arise only when I use IE (tried 9 & 11). These sites are in IE intranet zone with automatic logon with username and password policy, but other websites in intranet zone are seamlessly accessible inside and outside network. Network level communication between client (outside network) and the web-servers is good.

Can anyone help me out? What am I missing here?

urlmon.dll missing

Hi I have a Windows 2008 R2 server that is displaying the error the ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll.

I have looked through the threads and have tried various suggestions however I am still seeing the error on some of my applications.

Also when I open internet explorer it just displays a white page.

When looking to uninstall / reinstall it does not display in control pannel - programs and features in the programs or in the installed updates.

When I try to install IE9 (from downloading from laptop and transfering onto server) it will start and say it is installing and then it says Internet Explorer did not finish installing  - see the trouble shooter (a web link that I can not open!)

I can see the urlmon.dll file is in my windows/system32 file path.

Has anyone had this issue and is there a solution for this?

Thanks,

Anne

IE Aborting Image Download with src attribute when over SSL and getting Content-Type header value image/jpg

Images are not downloaded at all and page looks broken.

The same page works fine over HTTP but shows the problem over HTTPS. Works fine in firefox and chrome.

Checked and found the problem in IE 9, 10, 11

Is it some bug in IE, I have searched the forums and searched internet. Got following but are not relevant to this case.

  • Resetting src of the img (Ruled out, not doing any reset)
  • Do not save encrypted pages to disk  is checked in advanced security options (Ruled out, unchecked)
  • Using TLS 1.2 with SSL 2.0 (Ruled out, SSL 2.0 unchecked)
  • Cache-preventing headers: Cache-Control header with the tokens no-cache, no-store (Ruled out, no such headers)
  • Restarts due to parser reset owing XML Namespace declaration, Meta tags etc. (Ruled out, image tags are afterwards)

Thanks in advance for help!

How do I fix %E2%80%8% when pasting in Address Bar?

0
0

Whenever I copy a nonhyperlinked web address to a specific image, video, forum post, etc. and paste it in the address bar and press return, the page does not display. When I view the history it is adding characters %E2%80%8% in the sublink information area. For example if I want to visit a posted youtube video the link will look something like  youtube.com/watch?v=gGqQgal-BcI4 and instead will display it as youtube.com/watch?v=gGqQgal-BcI%E2%80%8%B4 (yes I know the http is absent and the example may not be a real video link - this is only to serve as an example of what is happening) when pasting a direct (non-hyper) link from somewhere into the address bar, hitting enter and viewing the history.

Given everything I have tried, I am sure it is not a third-party (addon) feature. I have tried: Disabling ALL addons, turning off all startup services and programs, deleting temp files/internet cookies/temporary/history. I have reset all internet settings - including the advanced tab and there has been no change in the result. Even if I copy and paste it in a search bar and the recopy/paste it in the address bar the result does not change. The only work-around I have found is copy the desired link in a word type program such as MS Word 2010 and then pressing spacebar or hard-enter so the link becomes hyperlinked. Then I right-click and left-click open hyperlink.

Any other solutions would be appreciated.

Include updated website lists from Microsoft - Not greyed out

Hi,

As per description of the Group Policy setting "Include updated website lists from Microsoft" on GPMC console, by disabling this setting, the Microsft-provided lists are not used and the user will not be able to activate the feature.

If you disable the setting under "Policies\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Compatibility View\Include updated Web site lists from Microsoft" the checkbox is detached but it is not greyed out.

I have tried to set the policy under Computer Settings, User setting and also making a Registry edition under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\BrowserEmulation by setting "MSCompatibilityMode" to "1" but the behaviour is still not  the desired.

Does anybody know if there is any way to grey out this setting?

Unaccessibility of local intranet sites externally with Automatic login with current username and password

We have few sites that are in IElocal intranet zones siteswith automatic login with current username and password. There is an issue on few computers(windows 7 & windows 8.1 pro) that they are not able to access these sites when outside of network.

Sites are fine via Firefox on same machines. and If I change setting from automatic login to prompt for username, sites prompt for username and password and let user in if they enter right credentials.

 Any fix/workaround for this issue?

MSIE installaton failure - via WSUS

Hey Folks,

Wondering if there is someone who can pinpoint an issue we're having rolling out Internet Explorer v11 for Windows 7 at my company?

Situation is that we approved it in WSUS Monday (07/07) and it proceeded to fail installing on PCs royally.

Did some digging and found prerequisite info here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2847882/en-us . Have followed this and used my own PC as a testbed. Missing were the "Platform Update" (2670838) and supposedly the "Segoe UI symbol font" (2729094). Installed the platform update without incident. However, when attempting to install the symbol font, the standalone installer informed me that the update was already installed. Can find nothing about it listed in my installed updates - AND the IE v11 installer complains that the font update is missing.

Took things a little further and used the /uninstall switch of 2729094 standalone package to remove from Windows whatever it thought was present. Then the installer proceeded to install this update, rebooted, and it is now in the list of installed updates.

Below is the most recent snippet I have from C:\Windows\IE11_main.log. I did note the the KB2729094 package seems to be a "v2". wondering if that add'l info in its string is somehow throwing off the IE v11 installer?

Have not yet looked into the WMI message below, but wanted to post this out there in hopes that the answer exists... thanks!!

-Tom W.

IE9/11 freezes in some situations after installation of KB2962872

0
0

Hi!

In the last patch day Microsoft released KB2962872 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2962872).

It includes a security update for all Internet Explorer versions.

This morning one of our applications which depends on IE starts showing a strange behaviour. When opening modal dialogs in a cascade IE freezes and the application was not really useable. It tooks seconds to render or resize a modal dialog. After closing a dialog the parent dialog was not reachable for seconds.

By deinstalling the patch, the problem was gone.

Our application has much code in it so we tried to reduce the code for reproduceable demo, which can be found here: http://www.setasign.com/files/ms/KB2962872/A.html

Just open the demo and click on the button "A", which opens a modal dialog with the same link. Click on the "A" button in the dialog to open an additional dialog... by opening 5-8 dialogs the behaviour should occur: Resizing is very
juddery and closing a window will freeze the application for some seconds. Without KB2962872 installed you can open nearly hundreds of windows without any problem.

We could reproduce this on IE9 (9.0.8112.16421 / 9.0.29) and IE11 (11.0.9600.17207 / 11.0.10) on Windows 7.

How can be report this bug to MS or is there a workaround but deinstalling the update?

Thanks!
Jan

Why is my IE 11 reporting a bad UserAgent String??

0
0

My IE 11 on W7 Ultimate is reporting the following UAString

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; SLCC2;
.NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET4.0C; Media
Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.3)

This is causing problems with some websites - Adobe thinks I have IE8 installed :( as doeshttp://whatbrowser.org/

How can I rectify this (where is the "reset my UA to default option???")

Thanks!

Is there a way to diagnose why both IE and Chrome can't load webpages, but invoke-webrequest in powershell works just fine?

Gpupdate /force changes IE advanced option "play animations in webpages" and "Sounds"

Hello,

I installed IE11 in Windows 7. When I check http://www.buienradar.nl/ the animation is not playing. If I enable the advanced option "play animations in webpages'. It works. But when I do a gpupdate /force. the option is disabled again.

The strange thing is that the GPO setting 'play animations in webpages' is not configured. Gpresult /h or Group policy result also says there is no setting wich should do this. (as a domain admin so I see computer and user settings)

Does IE11 has a feature which resets this setting to default after a gpudate?

I prefer not to enable the  'play animations in webpages' because a user cannot change it anymore.

Setting a preference will result in the same behaviour as enable the option manually.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

IE 11 Enterprise Mode on Remote Desktop Server

Hi,

I've enabled IE11 Enterprise Mode and setup an XML-file on a fileshare which I've created using "Enterprise Mode Site List manager".

When I logon with my test-user and launc IE, after aprox 65 seconds I get the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\internet explorer\Main\EnterPriseMode\ CurrentVersion string updated to the current version of my XML-file. I can then browse the sites and verify that Enterprise Mode is enabled for the sites that I have specified in my XML-file

The problems I'm facing is that if I logout my user and then log back on again to the server and start IE and brwose the sites Enterprise Mode is no longer enabled for them. Also if my user has manually specified some sites for enterprise mode this does not live between sessions.

Where in the profile does IE EM store the data over which websites that are supposed to be in entprise mode? I've found under AppData\Local\ EmieSiteList and EmieUserList but theese 2 catalogs only contains "container.dat" which is 0 KB?

Anyone know? Has anyone gotten IE EM to work in RDS?

Jonas

Additional spelling dictionaries for IE10RP on W7SP1

This KB article was released a few weeks ago: Spelling checker dictionary add-ons for Internet Explorer 10 Release Preview in Windows 7 SP1 are available. I still haven't been able to find additional dictionaries for installation on the IE Manage add-ons > Spelling correction page. I have 10.0.9200.16439 with KB2761465 on W7 Pro 64-bit. There is no difference between 32-bit and 64-bit versions in this respect.

If others have been able to acquire additional dictionaries, is this perhaps market-specific (mine is en-GB)? If so, how does IE determine the market?

Does anyone know the location of the spelling dictionaries? I can only find the ACL, custom dictionaries and exclusion lists at
C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Spelling, but not the main dictionaries.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?
