IE 10 Mangled Image issue

$

Hi All,

I am in the midst of a very strange occurence. I currently have an application installed on a client's machine that serves up a web app. For myself and another, the default IIS 7 logo displays partially with the rest of the image resembling tv static or snow. Sorry I cannot include the picture as this is my first post.

The root document for the web app tends to display similar, but upon refreshing may display partial contents of the javascript text or html text, but never the complete web form. Another user, however, is able to access this web app/iis server without any issue what so ever.

Please note the following conditions:

I am running windows 7 SP1 32 bit with IE10.

The user who HAS access is running the same image/laptop etc. Possibly different drivers. IE Settings are managed by our domain, possible I have a bum set of GPO's being pushed down or his aren't pushed down fully etc.

The workstation is behind a SonicWALL TZ105, I have turned off Content Filtering and numerous other things to ensure it is not that device, still not completely sold.

The other user (B) who DOES NOT have access is running Windows XP, but is a member of the same domain as myself and User A.

I am at my witts end here as I have followed articles left and right and no one quite sees this error.

Thanks in advance for the help!

IE 11 hates PDF files

I'm using IE 11 with Win 7 Pro 64 bit. When I read a PDF file online, most of the time IE refuses to go back to the main page of the site. When I press the back button on my keyboard or click the back arrow on IE it just keeps trying to reopen the PDF. Sometimes if I push the back button really fast five or six times it will get away from the PDF but I never know what page it may take me to. This behavior is a PITA. Can someone please tell me how to fix it?

Can't open a file, can only save or cancel

When I click on a link for a file, like an mp3, rdp, etc. the only options I get are save or cancel.  For example, if I try to connect to a windows azure virtual machine I have to download the RDP file - I can't just click open.  Is this an IE11 issue?  Is it a group policy setting?  Is this something I can fix/change?  Can I have my IT department change something?  This is really frustrating.  Any thoughts are appreciated.

Solution for clearing IE-11 corrupted internet options deleting browser history.

Microsoft detected with a PC message, knowing my Internet Explorer is corrupted, and corrected it with some success in the past.

I didn't uninstall the suspect program in time, to keep "clear" of the problem internet options page looking (too"refined") and the (delete page) of browser history to function properly. I 'am now looking for a (direct solution) again from MICROSOFT , to clear IE-11 of corrupted functions.

Truncated POST requests in IE 10 - In Response to NTLM Authentication

$

In Internet Explorer 10, the browser is incorrectly truncating HTTP POST requests and submitting unsolicited NTLM negotiate headers with a  HTTP Content-Length of Zero Bytes.  This results in HTTP POST parameters failing to be submitted to the server.

Assume the following web application with a context root of:

https://w3.someapplication.net/webapplication/

Secure cookies for this site are established at the context root of this application.

To reproduce this issue, a secure session is established at a protection space deeper than the root context of the web app:

https://w3.someapplication.net/webapplication/secure/login

After establishing a secure session with the web application, some client side artifacts are retrieved from a web proxy at a higher protection space:

https://w3.someapplication.net/webapplication/somejs.js

Subsequent HTTP POST requests to a deeper protection space will result in IE incorrectly attempting to pass an unsolicited NTLM negotiate header to the server side, and the HTTP POST request will be truncated with a Zero Content-Length header:

https://w3.someapplicaiton.net/webapplication/submit/form

The result is that the HTTP POST parameters submitted to the last URL will be lost.

This is reproducible against IE6 and IE10.  It does not reproduce against IE8, or any non-Microsoft browser which all behave in a sane manner.

My Questions:

Why is IE behaving this way?

What can I do to make IE behave properly?  Please don't suggest that I change the entire structure of my company's website to overcome this kind of silly bug in IE.

Is there a planned fix to correct this behavior back to the proper implementation observed in IE8?

Additional details about this problem are documented by an IE Internals blogger at the following url:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/archive/2010/11/22/internet-explorer-post-bodies-are-zero-bytes-in-length-when-authentication-challenges-are-expected.aspx

Left Navigation Menu/Pane disappears with Internet Explorer 8

I posted this question on the main site, but was told to re-post it here. please advice.

Left Navigation Menu/Pane in PeopleSoft application disappears with Internet Explorer 8

We recently did a PeopleTools upgrade and started using IE 8 since it is the only supported browser version. We have been getting  intermittent issues with Users reporting dissapearing left Navigation Menu/pane if we keep the IE window idle for a couple of minutes.
we also noted the same issue when we try to ZOOM IN and ZOOM OUT on the peoplesoft page (to increse/decrese font size), the left menu navigation pane/window dissapears. So when we do a CTRL+ or CTRL - (minus), the navigation pane dissapears. This looks like an IE 8 issue are we were not able to replicate it with IE 6 or other browsers (like chrome, Firefox). Can someone please let us know if there is any patch available to fix this issue.

The issue seemed to revolve around the Google Tool bar. I removed that but the problem persisted. Then the issue went away. There appears to have been an updfate on the 28th and the problem is back. I have run IE without add ons and it seems to be fine. But I am not interested in the IE without some of the add on such as search and quick links. I am not a techie so I cannot tweak the resitr. I have run my anti virus programs and they keep cleaning up errors but nothing seems to solve the problem.

Can't open file in IE 10

Good afternoon.

I have a link to a file with the extension xlsx (file :/ / server / ...) on the corporate portal.  NTFS security of this file: one person has full access, and all other read-only.

The problem with the client IE10. If this file is open person who has access to it full access on the client with IE10 when attempting to open it (the person with read only) downstairs is: Could not load file. When you close the browser window appears office: File in use (editing smoking, read only, notify, cancel). Push the read-only file is opened.

The second option at the bottom of the window in the browser when clicked: open, save. Choose: open, writes a security check, you can not download the file. When you close the browser, nothing appears.

All other browsers (IE younger versions) always open a file without any problems.

Disables all add-ons added to trusted hosts, made the minimum security policy in IE, however, the problem persists.

Where else can you see, except for the restoration IE8 on this computer?

Sincerely,

Svyatoslav.

Deploy / installation IE10 messages in ie10_main.log

We are deploying Internet Explorer 10 to different machines thru gpo. On some machines installation runs fine but on some machines it looks like it is running at computer startup (it takes a while before login screen appears) but it isn't installed. Lookin in de %windir%\ie10_main.log there are some errors like:

waiting for 6 prerequisite downloads
download completed starting installation of 6 prerequisites
error downloading prerequisite file (kb2670838)

failed to resume automatic updates.

After logging in on the machine ie8 is still installed not ie10.

The ie10 msi file which is deployed thru computer group policy is made with IEAK10 on a windows 7 machine with IE10 instaled. In IEAK it is synchronised so all updates are in the msi (i think). Installation goes wrong on downloading installing updates it looks like but why is he downloading updates while it is in the msi file?

What can i do about this?

Page cannot be displayed when strange character is in the url (i.e. umlaut)

Hello everyone,

One of our customers is working on a Windows Server 2012R2 (Remote Desktop) with Internet Explorer 11. Fully updated.
Links on their website can have strange characters (ë, ü, û) in them*. They exist in variables send with the URL, so not in the domain name itself.
When using such a link, the webpage cannot be displayed.

I cannot give an example of the website itself, its on a protected area, but it is reproducable by manipulating a link. Fot example:

http://www.bing.com/?test=test

http://www.bing.com/?test=tëst

The real problem is, this only happen on the this particular server. On other systems, with the same IE version, the pages are loaded and displayed.

Another browser on the same Server does display the pages.

Tried several settings, but nothing seems to fix this.

* For whatever reason they do not use url encoding on the webserver end, please do not give this as solution. Because it does work on other systems, there must be something to make it working.

Two F12 questions

Internet explorer 10 doesn't set cookies

$

We use ADFS security in our web application. After cross domain request, IE10 gets response with Set-Cookie headers and status 302(to be redirected), but response from redirect target does not contain any cookies. It could be fixed by setting: Internet Options -> Privacy -> Advanced -> Override automatic cookie handling and Always allows session cookies, but our clients may be not allowed to change IE settings. Are there any other way to solve this?

Clicking "Favorites," un-specified period delay, screen goes completely black (except for taskbar). clic on 2nd IE icon (black) and...

I don't believe any of the "found" threads apply.

click on Favorites the screen immediately turns black. The taskbar remains visible. If I move cursor down to the IE "E" on the taskbar and select the IE (E) image that is black it either immediately returns the screen with the "Add to Favorites" option box or (after selecting the black option box a number of times) the screen is displayed with the "Add to Favorites" box. Clicking add works without a problem. But nothing seems to alleviate the problem.

My wife and I share the machine but she has not experienced the problem.

I didn't notice the problem until after I installed the updates I needed to install to allow me to install Windows 8.1 - particularly the Bing package.

Suggestions?
