How to apply IE11 to install.wim offline using DISM

$

Hi,

Could someone please help me with the steps required to apply IE11 offline to install.wim using DISM? I have done some searching but I am unable to find any discussions around applying IE11 to install.wim offline using DISM. I tried extracting IE11-Windows6.1-x86-en-us.exe but the process is failing to install anything from my working folder where the extracted files reside.

Thank you,

Rob

Feature request: Monitor, manage IE - CPU usage

$

I was wondering if this is the right place to make a feature request. As it happens when surfing with IE, having many tabs open, pretty quickly CPU usage can reach 100% even on multi core system. Presumably some website manage to run out-of-control scripts in the background.

The real problem is now that I cannot tell which tabs produces which CPU load. All that task manager shows is the IE process with the tabs and the overall CPU usage for the process.

Regarding monitoring it would help to identify the tabs (website) which cause the heavy load. This could be added to task manager.

Further, to manage the tabs it should be possible to either start each tab in its own processor perhaps better, have the ability to put unused tabs in 'hibernation' causing all scripts to pause there.

Feeds not working since June '14 patch day

Since Tuesday and the reboot all my feeds look like this:

Internet Explorer cannot display this feed
This feed download was interrupted.

Still, the feeds will update in the feeds bar, showing a date and time and how many new entries there are for a particular feed but upon clicking on it I only get this error message.

This is a new issue and I believe related to the June patch day because that's when it started.

IE is 11 on Win 8.1 Update, x64

Which steps we need to follow in order to IE 11 can send requests using AES 128.

Internet Explorer 11 by default send requests to servers using AES256 algorythm instead of using AES128 bits (used for PKI Service). Which steps we need to follow in order to IE 11 can send requests using AES 128.

EMIE - Remote Desktop Services with Mandatory Profile

We're currently testing out EMIE at my company. I'm able to set EMIE sites through Group Policy by creating a .xml file with the Enterprise Mode Site List Manager. This all works great but when an individual sets a site to Enterprise Mode manually through Tools > Enterprise Mode where is this information stored? This is important to our environment because we use Remote Desktop Services/Mandatory Profiles. I'd like these settings to follow users when they work remotely but this is impossible to do so without information as to how it's stored.

Here is what I know so far:

The information is stored in the User Profile but it is not stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER. I know this because I've compared a HKCU without a site manually set to EM to a HKCU with a site set to EM.

Resetting IE to default settings after manually applying EM to a site does not clear EM on that site.

This thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/6c266558-a7f0-4169-a0a7-668899b1653e/ie-11-enterprise-mode-on-remote-desktop-server?forum=ieitprocurrentver

Asks the same question but it's not being answered. The OP Jonas_Bson pointed out the location of two folders and files that are created when EMIE is Enabled. These paths are AppData\Local\EmieSiteList & AppData\Local\EmieUserList. Both locations have a container.dat file that are 0KB. Regardless if sites are added / removed from EM the file stays at 0KB and the date created and modified time stamps never change. However, if I set a site manually to EM, delete the container.dat file in the EmieUserList location, relaunch the browser, the site manually set in EM no longer in EM. I created a container.dat file with EM set, and a container.dat file with EM not set. If I replace the container.dat file with EM set with the container.dat file with EM not set, EM is not applied to the page that was manually set. It appears this container.dat file is just some sort of place holder to use saved settings but is not where the settings are saved.

If anyone has found the location to where manually EM settings are stored, please let me know.

IE 11 shows a clear text X button in input type text - webbrowser IE based control doesn't show it

Hello,

I have an HTML file, which contains the field <input type="text">.

If i open this HTML file in IE11 and i type some text in that field, a clear text button (X) appears at the end of the field.

If i open this HTML file in a WebBrowser control based on IE11 and i type some text in that field, that clear text button (X) DOESN'T appear at the end of the field.

Is there anybody which have met this issue? Is there a solution to make that clear text button (X) to appear also in the WebBrowser control?

Thank you

Privacy Statement or Browser Has Been Upgraded page loads after June KB2957689 Cumulative Patch

$

Hi all,

I am often placed in charge of WSUS for our desktop estate which is primarily Windows 7 SP1 x86 with IE9 as the default browser. During testing today, I found after applying KB2957689 "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9" when a user loads IE, an extra tab loads automatically which goes to the "MS IE9 Privacy Statement" page located at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/products/ie-9/windows-internet-explorer-9-privacy-statement. This only happens once per user after the patch is installed, so I'd imagine the patch adds, or enables a registry key for the first launch.

I can find no mention of this behaviour on the KB article, and no searches in the usual places has lead to any other reports of this happening. Ideally we want to avoid any unnecessary demand to the helpdesk by the displaying of the page.

Can anyone else confirm any similar mentions of this happening, or will I need to log a ticket with Microsoft for this?

Kind Regards, Steve Sands.

Report Viewing in software using MSHTML control causes hang and eventual crash (very large HTML generated)

Hello,

We develop a software solution, part of which is to generate reports based on actions recorded.  To generate these reports we generate an HTML file and render the output in an application of ours which uses the MSHTML control to render and view.

We have a customer who is finding that our software takes a very long time to load the report, and it regularly crashes.  We have reproduce the crash in house and found that the crash occurs in the module mshtml.dll.

If we open the same generated HTML (around 60MB in size) in IE 11, the browser crashes as well.

We can generate crash dumps as well if needed.

Planning to open a ticket via MSDN, but it suggested to post here first.

Thank you,

David

Can't uninstall Internet Explorer 10 de-DE Language Pack

I can't uninstall the German language pack on Windows 7 Professional. I get a modal dialog with the error "An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled."

I tried the following methods:

  • Re-install the language pack and attempt to uninstall it.
  • Uninstall via the command line tool lpksetup (with my current user and with administrator privileges)

security

when the security breach was first revealed in April, a security "fix" was offered for ie10 until a permanent fix was created.  As I use my computer for banking and lots of other online financial dealings, I accepted the "fix".  Since then, every time I try to login to my bank's website, I get the "about: blank" in  the address bar, and my login is not accepted.  No reason, just comes back to the login page with my entered info missing.  I find I have to enter the info three times (until the persistent behaviour option kicks in) before I get into the bank.  This behaviour has continued after the permanent fix was disseminated and installed.  This is the only website where this happens and I have updated my icon, relaxed some security in my "Trusted Sites", and even re-installed ie10.  I'm sure it's a security setting somewhere in Internet Options, but I'm lost and about to give in to something simpler like Opera or Firefox. (not my first choice, by any means).

can someone please help?

Active X control for SharePoint 2010 not working when Office is not installed

Active X control for SharePoint 2010 not working when Office is not installed. Is there a way to get this control included without installing office?

Here's the notes from a SharePoint 2010 thread that explains the DLL is:

According to your description, my understanding is that you want tot use
Upload Multiple document feature without installiing Office in SharePoint 2010.<o:p></o:p>

The feature is based on an ActiveX Control called STSUpld.UploadCtl, a
dynamic-link library (DLL) that is installed on the client computer in the
%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ directory during Microsoft Office
2010 Setup. Without this control , the feature will be not available for
SharePoint 2010.<o:p></o:p>

I am not sure whether the AnctiveX Control could
be added into IE without Office 2010/2013 installing, you can have a try. And
you can create a new thread on IE forum, more experts will assist you with this
issue.

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue but after the recent patch run by MS this week we are getting a high proportion of users unable to access internet explorer (all versions) on Windows 7 machines.

The error displayed is

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

attempt to access invalid address

This happens when trying to run Internet Explorer short cuts or iexplore.exe directly. I have had a searched around and given the number of users that with the issue I'm surprised if not found more info

Any feedback appricated

Pinning Tabs in IE 11

Is it possible to pin tabs in IE 11? I don't mean pin them to the task bar, I mean pin them to stay open. Chrome allows us to right click and "pin tab" and it moves over to the left and remains open and returns to its place next time we open Chrome. Can we do this with IE 11?

Flicker in IE11 on page load, but not in developer mode

I'm getting flicker on page load or postback of a coloured page body in IE11, on externally hosted site (ie. not from local disk).

The odd thing is it goes away if I either:

  1. Open F12 developer tools
  2. Add the site to trusted sites
  3. Add the site to restricted sites

I've got a VM with IE9 which appears to work fine (assuming the flicker isn't being hidden by VM screen refresh speed or something). Works fine on Chrome.

I obviously cannot use any of the above as a solution!!! And besides, none make sense, especially solution 1.

This sample code has one link that switches between two pages. I've removed everything else, javascript, css files etc.

--- page1.html ---<html><body style="background-color:#000000"><a href="page2.html">Page 2</a></body></html>

And then an identical page2.html that refs back to page 1.

Clicking on the link flickers the background from white to black each time, unless using any of the "fixes" above!
