F12 Developer tools disappear when changing zones

I am trying to use the f12 developer network tool to analyze redirects. Unfortunately, every time I migrate from Internet to Intranet zone, the tool disappears. I am guessing this might be by design, but definitely limits the usefulness of the tool. Is there a way to make it stick? Even if it stops logging, it would be better than disappearing and erasing all the captured data.

EPM (Enhanced Protection Mode)

I am using IE9 (Win7--64-bit). Why am I being asked to Disable EPM in Internet Explorer?  EPM was introduced in IE10 and 11!! I did disable Protection Mode in my settings, but each time I attempted to open a pdf document, the "...Disable EPM in Internet Explorer..." message would surface.  Any nuggets of wisdom?  I do not want to use IE10 nor IE 11.

Thanks   ep

Windows 7 w/ IE11 updated, from Administrator

AMD 64 dual core, Radeon X1250 graphics chipset.

The IE11 Internet Option>Advanced>Accelerated Graphics> use software rendering instead of GPU rendering, setting is greyed out and will not uncheck.

Cleared Cache and Cookies

Tried the Fix-It utility  with the Enable Hardware Acceleration, and rebooted with no change.

Reset all to Default, no change.

Found this article while writing this question, and the registry setting can be manually set to 1 from 0.

KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\UseSWR

While the registry accepted the settings change, upon reboot, the IE11 setting was still checked and greyed out.

Still not fixed in RTM: Win8 and now Win8.1 messing up the system attribute for history folder in IE ... for roaming users (i.e. BUSINESS USERS!)

Update: And we're talking RTM here ...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/6418ae13-63c7-44a1-9e97-0ad875a2bd7a/browsing-history-not-being-recorded?forum=ieitprocurrentver#d16f8580-0d2a-40f7-8197-86d232bbaa74

Here is a solution from back then - during the Win8 preview:

Try this ....

Problem:

C:\users\%username%\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows\history is lacking the +S (system attribute)

Test:

> Desktop > File Explorer > \users\appdata\local\Microsoft > Shift+Right Click on Windows Folder > Open new command prompt > attrib History

The result you get back in the command window should read something like this (Note the "S" to left):

   S    I    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History

Fix:

> \users\appdata\local\Microsoft > Shift+Right Click on Windows Folder > Open new command prompt > attrib +S History

... and History comes back in IE:

> Desktop > IE to confirm.

Reason:

A Bug in Windows (or Windows 8 ... seen this issue posted quite a few times for Windows 8.

I'm actually able to recreate the issue persistently with domain accounts and roaming profiles on a second login on any Windows 8 system. The issue is there after the local profile has been ("re")created on that system. I don't why it happens ... but it happens every time for domain account.

IE10 Scrollbar color issue

$

I have installed IE10 and I am wondering if there is a way to change the color of the scrollbar.  The light grey is so light it's hard to see.  I have tried a few things and searched around and come up with nothing.  I love the preview otherwise and would like to keep it but this one thing might make me use another as I swap back and forth between IE and Comodo Dragon.

Thanks in advance,

IE 11 pre-approve Browser Helper Objects / add-ons

$

Hello,

I'm preparing Win 8.1 preview image with MDT 2013 beta and I have a problem making Internet Explorer 11 pre-approve Browser Helper Objects.

I'm installing MS Office 2013, Adobe Acrobat XI, Java 1.6 in the State Restore state (so after the Windows first boots up).

When I start IE 11 for the first time on every user I have a popup to enable the following addons:

Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper - ClassID {DBC80044-A445-435B-BC74-9C25C1C588A9}

Microsoft SkyDrive Pro Browser Helper - ClassID {D0498E0A-45B7-42AE-A9AA-ABA463DBD3BF}

Office Document Cache Handler - ClassID {B4F3A835-0E21-4959-BA22-42B3008E02FF}

Lync Browser Helper - ClassID {31D09BA0-12F5-4CCE-BE8A-2923E76605DA}

Adobe PDF Link Helper - ClassID {18DF081C-E8AD-4283-A596-FA578C2EBDC3}

I've tried to add those ClassIDs to Win8.1 unattend.xml into PreApprovedAddons, InstalledBrowserExtensions, InstalledBHOLIst in Specialize phase but without any luck.

I also tried to add them using GPO "Add-on list" in Administrative Templates for Machine and User - still no luck

I've added them manualy under HKCU / HKLM \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\PreApproved

as well as HKCU / HKLM \Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Approved Extensions

no luck

All of those methods doesn't work and I'm still getting "Several add-ons are ready for use." prompt each time IE is started on a new profile.

Can you please share any ideas about it?

Best Regards,

Bartek

NOT ABLE TO FIND DOWNLOAD LINK FOR IE11 FOR WIN 8 PRO VOLUME LISENCE

HI

AM NOT ABLE TO UPGRADE MY WINDOWS 8 TO 8.1 AND NOT FINDING THE DOWNLOAD LINK TO UPGRADE IE10 TO IE11

When viewing documents on a Web Server, IE automatically opens a blank page and then opens the document in the default program. The blank screen should close automatically but isn't happening.

So here is the situation, my company uses a third party scanning software, that puts documents scanned or created onto a webserver. We use a program that grants a user access to view the documents on the webserver. The user will have to log into the system using credentials, we have Kerberos doing this. Once the user is logged onto the system they navigate to the document they want to view or edit. So the user wants to view a .pdf file, they click the document they want, and it is supposed to open in the default program associated with file extension. ie: .doc would open Word, .xls would open Excel. When the document is loading in the default program Internet Explorer opens a blank page, this page is supposed to prompt the user if they want to open or save the document. (I changed the registry to have the files selected to automatically open without this prompt.) The blank screen generated is still staying open, this screen is supposed to close automatically after the prompt or close automatically after the document is opened. So when a user is looking at several documents, this floods the screen with all these blank Internet Explorer pages. This problem is only occurring for users that have Windows 7 PC's, XP users do not have this problem at all. My PC is the only one in the company that is Windows 7 64-bit, and working properly with the IE blank page automatically closing. I'm wondering what can be done to fix this problem, is it as simple as registering some .dll files or do I need to make a registry change? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Internet explorer has stopped working

I am using Windows 7. I don't know what version IE is, possibly 10 or 11.

I installed Win 7 from scratch. I tested the most basic functionality and all was well, including IE and Internet browsing. When I went to Shut down the PC Win 7 tells me that I have 133 updates pending, so I let it update.

Next day I come back in and install some needed software, including Skype and MS Office 2007. When I go to IE the application opens but the content window is blank. IE is responsive, but I don't see the default MSN page. I moused over the blank screen and noticed that at some points the arrow mouse pointer turns into a pointing finger.

I was unable to resolve this problem.I opened the About IE dialog but this is blank also. I believe i was IE 9. Then when I went to shut down the PC it again told it had more updates. In this case 5. I let them installed. Next day I tried again to open IE with same results. I found some instruction indicating that the problem might go away if I Reset IE. I did this, but the problem persisted.

Now when I attempt to open IE I get the following message:

"Internet Explorer has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem."

This is followed by a dialog that includes the button "Close program". I choose to close it but IE seems t open again and the same dialog appears. This is an endless loop. However, if I click the exit button on IE (the red X, top right hand corner) IE exits and the messages stop coming.

I do not know how to proceed, please help. I don't understand where this problem came from. What I can say is that it started after a Windows update. This is a new Windows 7 Pro (32 bit) install.

I am now thinking of going to a previous restore point, but want to leave that as the last option.

I've already done the following, but the problem persists:

Reset IE

1. Click Start, please type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter to open the Internet options window.
2. Switch to the Advanced tab.
3. Click the Reset Internet Explorer Settings button.
4. Click Reset to confirm the operation.
5. Click Close when the resetting process finished.
6. Uncheck Enable third-party browser extensions option in the Settings box.
7. Click Apply, click OK.

Load without addins

1. Click start
2. Type in internet
3. Select option that specifies no addins

Last Known Good Configuration

1. Restarted PC
2. Pressed F8 like a madman while PC started
3. Selected Last Known Good Configuration

Untick "Enable Protected Mode" check box

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Go to Network and Internet
3. Go to Internet options
4. Go to Security tab
5. Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode" check box
6. Click Ok button, exit from applet

Thank you all! Saga

PS: The PC experiencing this problem is my home PC. If I take long in replying to any remarks or indications it is because I need to wait to get home.

How do I revert to an older IE 10 build?

A user is asking me to revert his IE 10 to 10.0.9200.16750, would there be a way to do that? i.e by uninstalling some updates or even better as I already tried to remove IE 10 completely to install an older build I found, to then apply updates up to the build the user wants but the install is failing when I use this link :

http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/internet-explorer-10-details.aspx it worked when I used this link :http://www.oldversion.com/windows/internet-explorer-10-windows-7-x64 I was able to install IE 10.0.9200.16438, I have disabled IE automatic updates, and use the option in Windows Updates to check online for updates, I'm trying updates related to IE and a few other ones one by one to try to get to the desired build, IE current installed build is 10.0.9200.16443, now the only one remaining is update is an optional update named Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64 - based Systems, I installed it and now the IE build is 10.0.9200.16866. Would anyone know what steps should be taken to get IE to the 10.0.9200.16750 build?

Set Internet Explorer as Default Browser in Group Policy - Internet Explorer Maintenace no longer available

$

Our client systems using Internet Explorer 10 and 11 need to have their Internet Explorer browser set to the Default Browser by Group Policy. There is the eHow article, www ehow.com/how_6356764_make-ie-default-browser-gpo.html [please note that I had to take out the . on the www to keep the link from being blocked in this post ] , but this only applies up to Internet Explorer 9.  Internet Explorer 10 and 11 deprecated the IEM utility ( and still asking why, why, why ). So, the eHow article is no longer the solution.

Anybody know of a another way?  Even if it is a registry modification - push via Group Policy solution ( like the Enable All Cookies capability is now )....... ?

IEAK vs. Group Policy

$

Here is a basic question. Which should I use, IEAK or Group Policy or how are they related?

I have a bunch of Windows 7 IE 9 users who have proxy settings, default favorites, and maybe some other settings set via Group Policy with Server 2008 R2 and Server 2003 R2 domain controllers. Some users upgraded to IE 10 and subsequently discovered that the favorites and proxy settings (or any Internet Explorer settings?) do not work through Group Policy.

So, I read that one can use 'Group Policy preferences', but doing that will require running Group Policy from an upgraded Windows 7 machine or something like that because the domain controllers can't recognize IE10 or higher. But then, I also see that there is this Internet Explorer Administration Kit which can supposedly set various configuration items.

So, what will work? Do they work together? What gives?

I want to set IE configuration of Windows 7 machines with IE 9 or 10.

Internet Explorer 11 Opens new tabs every time I click a link

Recently I switch to using Internet Explorer 11 on my Asus T100LA. My issue is that every time I click on a link the window opens in a new tab instead of replacing the current tab. This is very frustrating when searching and navigating web pages since it forces me to constantly click and close every tab that I don't need any more.
