any way to restore a dedicated search bar like IE 8??

I enjoyed being able to type a search phrase in the search bar then search the same topic with different search providers.  So far I don't like this combined bar at all and will uninstall IE9 (or just start using Chrome) unless I can find a solution

IE 11 Enterprise Mode questions

We have several applications that seem to have some trouble with IE 11. One of them runs on CRM4  currently, but we will be updating to CRM11 very soon.  Since there are still some compatibility issues with CRM11 and IE11 for key functions of this application, we need to know if the Enterprise Mode will also work on CRM11 the way it does with CRM4 (which is only compatible with IE8) since it is compatible with IE10.  If Enterprise Mode works to make web applications compatible with ALL older versions, this would be optimal, but I can only find documentation stating that it works to emulate IE8

Office 365 Outlook Web App X-UA-Compatible IE=10

Hi,

I use IE11 as my primary browser. I've recently noticed that in the Outlook Web App in many of the emails that contain pictures as links have the ugly blue border around the pictures.

I've started to investigate a little and I've noticed that Outlook Web App uses the <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=10"/> header in all requests.
If I switch to Edge mode in the developer toolbar of IE11 everything looks fine. Please see the pictures I've attached.

Are there any reason to force IE10 compatibility mode in Office365 OWA? It seems to me that everything works fine with Edge mode.

(In Chrome and Firefox everthing looks fine)

Thanks!
Csaba

Default Mode:

IE10Mode

Manually set to Edge Mode:

This mail is just one example, many others behave the same way (mails from Spotify, Netflix, Facebook....), so I'm sure the problem is not with this email.

When I click on a link that should open in a new tab (or right-click and select Open in new Tab), IE11 Opens a new tab but the screen is blank, the URL is about:blank and the tab title is 'Blank Page'.

The 'Metro' version of IE 11 still works fine, it's just the Desktop version which is broken.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the similar thread, but none have helped.

VBA save as using information bar - download ribbon in IE11

Hi everyone..

I am using IE11 and Excel 2010. I am writing a code to download csv files from a website and to work with the downloaded data.

Till now I have coded the part to select options on the webpage form and click on the download report button. But after this I get a download ribbon (yellow information bar) with open, save, cancel option.

  1. Is it possible through VBA to save this file to a particular folder by accessing the download ribbon?
  2. If not can I autodownload(without having to click on save) to the default folder when a download comes?

Notes :-

  • I cannot use handles as there is no popup save download window.
  • I cannot use URLtodownload API as there is no particular link and the report is generated by the website on post through js.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please help.

Disabling the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 11

I would like to know if I can delete (e.g., rename) my 32-bit IE installation, thus forcing the system to run ONLY the 64-bit version. My IE 11 (on Win7) hangs several times per day, and it's almost always the 32-bit that's the "faulting application." The faulting module varies (frequently MSHTML.dll), but I wonder if there isn't a crossing of wires, so to speak -- some sort of contention between the two IE versions that's causing the hangs, crashes, and even a BSOD.

In terms of memory allocation, per Task Manager a short while ago, the first 6 instances of iexplore.exe were all 32-bit, a single instance of 64-bit, then several more 32s.

If anyone knows the ramifications of my making the 32-bit version "invisible," and, indeed, what would be the best way to go about it, I would really appreciate it.

Can not organise favourites like I used to?

Hi

So, I'm bust finally making the switch to Win 8.1 from XP Home across my household, all fine apart from the fact that I don't seem to be able to organise non html based favourites on IE's favourites bar.

Example:

I always have my Hotmail email address passcard from RoboForm as my first icon on my favourites bar but since moving to IE11 its been placed right at the end of all my favourites, after all the HTML favourites.  I move it but it goes back to the end following a restart of IE.

I never had this problem before, Ive used RoboForm with IE6, 7 and 8 with no problems.

Please help :-)

IE 11 installing every day, but back to IE9 following reboot

Hi;

I've got a Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit SP1 PC.

I've only just noticed this, but it's been going on for a while. Looking at my update log, in June 2013 Automatic Updates installed Internet Explorer 10 for me.  It installed successfully, but it obviously never di, as I still have IE9. In fact, looking at the log, IE10 installed successfully many many times - until it started to become IE11, in fact. IE11 is still installing frequent and oft. It never fails, but I'm still on IE9.

I have Automatic Updates on; I'm the "only" user of the PC and I'm an Administrator. I've run Malware Bytes in full scan mode, and found nothing. I've used Sophos rootkit checker, and found nothing.

I've downloaded the non-auto install files; and checked that I have the relevant MS updates. I either have them, or when I run the update, it says I don't need it.

There are certain (banking) webpages that I "must" view using Internet Explorer. Can anyone suggest how I get IE11?

Thanks - Tim

I have had a Malware issue and I think I have deleted some app data files,by mistake, now Internet Explorer will not open. I get an error message say IE is not working and windows is trying to find a solution but nothing ever happens. I have tried every fix the forums offer but no sucess as yet. My Skype also has the same issue so I am convinced I have done something silly. Tried to uninstall but cannot find IE in program files.

When viewing documents on a Web Server, IE automatically opens a blank page and then opens the document in the default program. The blank screen should close automatically but isn't happening.

So here is the situation, my company uses a third party scanning software, that puts documents scanned or created onto a webserver. We use a program that grants a user access to view the documents on the webserver. The user will have to log into the system using credentials, we have Kerberos doing this. Once the user is logged onto the system they navigate to the document they want to view or edit. So the user wants to view a .pdf file, they click the document they want, and it is supposed to open in the default program associated with file extension. ie: .doc would open Word, .xls would open Excel. When the document is loading in the default program Internet Explorer opens a blank page, this page is supposed to prompt the user if they want to open or save the document. (I changed the registry to have the files selected to automatically open without this prompt.) The blank screen generated is still staying open, this screen is supposed to close automatically after the prompt or close automatically after the document is opened. So when a user is looking at several documents, this floods the screen with all these blank Internet Explorer pages. This problem is only occurring for users that have Windows 7 PC's, XP users do not have this problem at all. My PC is the only one in the company that is Windows 7 64-bit, and working properly with the IE blank page automatically closing. I'm wondering what can be done to fix this problem, is it as simple as registering some .dll files or do I need to make a registry change? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

IE11 Behavior with failed intranet zone automatic logon

$

Hi,

With a particular internal site in IE9 when the site is in the intranet zone and automatic logon fails we are prompted with a windows security Window to enter alternative credentials to log in.

With IE 11 the security prompt never appears, the logon fails and the site reports back "You are not authorized to access this page" but there is no opportunity to enter alternate creds...

On both versions the site is correctly placed into local intranet zone and so does attempt a logon.  I've tried both compatibility mode and enterprise mode, the behavior is the same.  I have also tried forcing the page into Internet and Restricted zones but this makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The Current webpage is trying to open a site from your Trusted sites list.Do you want to allows this? Annoyance...why and how do you fix?

I have had this burning question for a long time.  I have a list of Trusted Sites in mh IE system.  Of them, I microsoft.com, cisco.com, just to name a few!  So, when I go to these sites, it displays a warning or prompt.   "The Current webpage is trying to open a site from your Trusted sites list.Do you want to allows this?"  it then makes me anser yes or no.   Now, MyLogic is that I PUT those on the Trusted List, so that I will NOT have to worry about any prompts etc.    Is there a way to get it so that is STOP prompting when I go to sites I have mannually put in the Trusted List????

IE 11 Keeps Trying To Install.. Even After IE Blocker Toolkit

Can someone please help me out here.  We are having an issue with Internet Explorer 11 trying to install on our users computers.  They can't run IE 11 at this time as the software does not support it.  I have run the IE Blocker 11 Toolkit, and if you go into Windows Updates is still there.  I have also Stopped the Windows Update Services. Deleted the c:\Windows\Software Distribution folder, restarted the services, ran the updates and it is still there.

Some users are able to get around it by "hiding" the update but this wont work for every one.  Can someone please help?

Thanks

IE 11 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 is unsupportable

$

Hi Everyone,

I have done some research and I hope I am wrong, for it seems that if you have Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Domain controllers and Windows 7 workstations and wish to upgrade to IE 11. You can't create or manage GPPs within GPMC unless you have Windows 2012 servers or Windows 8 workstations.

So suddenly I have an unsupportable configuration. We don't have any Windows 2012 servers, nor Windows 8 workstations, and we don't have any plans to install any for another couple of years.

Its unfathomable to me, that Microsoft created a situation where the tools they provide are incapable of supporting the applications that they want us to upgrade too.

From what I have read, most people are having to create GPPs that deploy registry keys to configure IE....OMG...should we just turn back time back windows 2000 days, where you had to either create custom adm files or files with reg keys that you loaded via logon scripts to configure the users IE environment.

They even provide an IE 11 .adm file for Windows 2003. So windows 2003(a 11 year old OS) is supported but Server 2008 R2 (4yr old OS) isn't...what a joke.

I just can't adequately put into words my total frustration. Release a hotfix or a patch already so we can manage our Windows 7 environment(with whatever IE version) with GPMC and GPPs from Windows 2008 R2 sp1 or Windows 7 systems.

Hi,

The laptop is running Windows 7 64bits with Internet Explorer 10 and the Windows automatic updates is turned on. The problem happens when the Windows keeps installing the Internet Explorer 11 every time between shutdown process. So I decided to download IE11 offline installation and try to install from it but the problem doesn't solve, the installation still does not complete. I have tried to delete all files in the Windows temp folder and IE temp folder already but the problem still exist.

Hi,

I have an .Net application running in LIVE. It was running Well in all Browsers(Chrome,Firefox,Safari), It also works good in Internet Explorer from version 6 to 10

Recently IE has Released 11th Version. when we open our APP in IE11 we have some major problems,

1) our application gets rendering problem

2) also the app is loading very slow.

All the above two issues are not completely happening in IE11,we have different Versions in IE11 (11.0.9600.1710711.0.9600.1652111.0.9600.16521IS, 11.0.9600.16659) . out of these our app is completely working fine in "11.0.9600.16659". and the remaining all other versions are getting different rendering errors.

We try to solve it by performing various additions to our app but no Use, we Placed MetaTag "<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE10">" and also we added APP_Browsers/ie.browser file which is downloaded from NUGET Packages that which supports .net Framework 4. even though we are unable to find the issue what is going on here. even we also modified our code but no use. Can you Please Provide Help on This.
