Nothing but problems with IE11 and Adobe Flash Player 13

I've installed the new flash player now nothing plays and uninstalling it doesn't help either. I've had to download a different browser; you would think that IE would not like people "jumping ship" and fix the F*&^ problem! But NO! Still a problem! And no one seems to know what the hell to do about it! I have windows 7 64bit. So now I will try another browser that actually works until IE gets their head out of their ass

Internet Proxy settings are changing

0

Our Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings have begun changing on several workstations

to use a proxy server. I have been researching this all week. I have run the fix it utility, manually

removed the keys from the registry but the behavior returns upon login (to a Domain). I have

run AV and Malware scans and nothing is found, however, I do think something is loaded on these

profiles. If I go to a machine running without the issue and login as the same domain user that

has the issue, it's fine. Subsequently, on the machine with the user with an issue if i sign in

as the user from a machine with no issue it's ol. So I am certain there is no GPO loaded. I

have Symantec Endpoint 12.4 and have run Malware Bytes. It occurs on IE/Mozilla/Chrome - all.

I can't find any plug in or other that may be causing this. My next step is to call Symantec. Am

I barking up the right tree? Proxy changes to 127.0.0.1 with random five digit port and with an exception

of <-loopback>. Again, if I change it back it statys fine until the next login.

Internet Explorer 11 won't save new home page but stuck on http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157.

I have been trying to save https://www.google.com.au/ as the home page.  No matter how I do, whether I log on as an administrator or run it as an administrator, it won't change even it looks as if it saves.  Open the Internet options again, it still shows the previous setup.

EMIEsitelist and EMIEuserlist hidden directories and dat-files

EmieSiteList and EmieUserList

Microsoft Security - Privacy Concerns

I found two unknown directories on my PC in my user profile.  I have, so far, been unable to identify what put them there, which process owns them, and when I delete them (using Admin escalated privileges) they come back after a few minutes or immediately after reboot.

     c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\EmieSitelist\container.dat

     c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\EmieUserlist\container.dat

     C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\container.dat

     C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserlist\container.dat

It was time, anyway, so I wiped the drive using factory low-level overwriting and performed a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro using a freshly downloaded ISO from Microsoft; one with an ESD distribution, written to a new just out-of-the-bedamned-hardshell-plastic flashdrive..

I just completed the clean install, in this sequence:

Boot to flashdrive and let Windows create partitions then install.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Activate.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Run first Update; install everything except Bing Bar and Desktop.    Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Add Feature Windows Media Center.  Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Run Updates a second time.  Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Remove MS C++ v12 x86 and x64 installed during Update.    Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Download from MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/default) Redistributables MS C++ x86 and x64, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012.4 versions, and install in sequence.  Check AppData after each install; no folders found.  Reboot after each install and check AppData; no folders found.

Run Updates a third time.  Response was No Updates Available.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Reboot.  Check AppData; all four sub-directories are now present.

These sub-directories and dat-files are not, so far, present in the AppData\Roaming directory.

There is nothing except Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and the 10 MS C++ packages installed; and MS Silverlight and AMD (videocard) Catalyst Control Center on the machine.  Windows Defender is present but is installed as part of Windows 8 and 8.1; and its' updates are provided via the MS Update process.  All - repeat ALL of these items are provided by Microsoft.

My questions are:  What are the Emie directories for; what program created them, and what does the various container.dat files "contain"?  And . . . if not absolutely necessary, How do I get rid of them and keep them from coming back?

First attempt at Solution:

Permissions are Full for System, USERNAME, and group Administrators.  The USERNAME is the Owner, and Effective Permissions for each of the 3 is Full.

Open Command Prompt (Admin)

C:\Windows\system32>cd\

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieSiteList\container.dat

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieSiteList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieUserList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieUserList\container.dat

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList\container.dat

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\container.dat

C:\>

BOTH Files and Directories are no longer Hidden.  The Directories still show that the files within are READ-Only, but checking the actual file shows that it is no longer R-O.

I then deleted each of the 4 directories and  closed Windows (File) Explorer.

After less than 3 minutes reading pages on the internet (at Microsoft's Ask Windows Community), I opened Windows Explorer to check and found that the sub-directories had re-created themselves in both the Local and LocalLow directories.

The container.dat files were back in the Local sub-dir and after another few minutes, also back in the LocalLow sub-dir.

Both the sub-directories and the container.dat files are once again Super-Hidden.

Analysis using Windows utilities and SysInternals and NirSoft tools have not identified which object or process or service owns these objects.

ADDED:  My system is a home system, not connected to any work domain via VPN or otherwise.  WHY is the Windows Update Team not spending time to implement condition-and-error-checking to ensure that unneeded updates, services, and changes are not made without the system owner/operator permission?  Further, WHY is this particular issue so hard to find info about; what is being kept from customers and why?

IE 11 Enterprise Mode on Remote Desktop Server

Hi,

I've enabled IE11 Enterprise Mode and setup an XML-file on a fileshare which I've created using "Enterprise Mode Site List manager".

When I logon with my test-user and launc IE, after aprox 65 seconds I get the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\internet explorer\Main\EnterPriseMode\ CurrentVersion string updated to the current version of my XML-file. I can then browse the sites and verify that Enterprise Mode is enabled for the sites that I have specified in my XML-file

The problems I'm facing is that if I logout my user and then log back on again to the server and start IE and brwose the sites Enterprise Mode is no longer enabled for them. Also if my user has manually specified some sites for enterprise mode this does not live between sessions.

Where in the profile does IE EM store the data over which websites that are supposed to be in entprise mode? I've found under AppData\Local\ EmieSiteList and EmieUserList but theese 2 catalogs only contains "container.dat" which is 0 KB?

Anyone know? Has anyone gotten IE EM to work in RDS?

Regards

Jonas

IE11 on Win7 Pro 64bit Still Appears in Windows Update and Cannot Uninstall

I have Win7 Pro 64bit 12GB RAM 2.67GHz Intel Xeon. Windows Update installed IE11 but after install continues to show in Windows Update. Tried to uninstall, failed. Check the IE11 log file, don't see anything unusual.

Update history shows IE11 64bit installed successfully.

It seems to work ok but it's annoying it still appears in the update list and it won't uninstall and revert to IE10.

Checked the troubleshooting IE from MS, nothing was of any use.

Printing certain web pages in IE 11 cause 49.4a.04 error on HP printer

There is a bug that happens with the machines running IE 11 when they try to print from the following website:http://www.corporationwiki.com/Texas/Sherman/n-1-achord-ministries/34978978.aspx

The drivers and firmware have been updated and different version of the driver were used in testing. The issue is recreated 2 out of 5 tests, and requires the print spooler to be cleared and the printer to be restarted. From my understanding this issue happens with multiple pages randomly across our domain depending on the pages being printed. Is there a known patch for this? Is downgrading to IE 10 really the only option?

Windows 7 ( up to date )
HP m602  ( up to date)

Tested on another domain and confirmed via IRC as a bug.

IE 11 shows a clear text X button in input type text - webbrowser IE based control doesn't show it

Hello,

I have an HTML file, which contains the field <input type="text">.

If i open this HTML file in IE11 and i type some text in that field, a clear text button (X) appears at the end of the field.

If i open this HTML file in a WebBrowser control based on IE11 and i type some text in that field, that clear text button (X) DOESN'T appear at the end of the field.

Is there anybody which have met this issue? Is there a solution to make that clear text button (X) to appear also in the WebBrowser control?

Thank you

Internet Explorer 10 Proxy Auto Configuration Parsing Issue

Issue: Our company uses an .ins configuration file that references a .pac (Proxy Auto Configuration) file which loads into memory that directs IE to go direct or use a proxy server for each URL. IE 10 crashes while loading the .pac file (which is really a JavaScript file) into memory when IE is launched.

Symptoms: IE 10 crashes while parsing .pac (JavaScript) file at browser startup. This happens with IE10 with any supported operating system, Win7, Win8 (x86,x64) etc.

Is there anyone who has seen this issue and can give guidance toward a resolution?

Thank you!

IE11/Win 8.1 error 'Your client does not support opening this list in windows explorer'

I hoping someone might be able to help with this frustrating issue.

I work on a project where we are using various versions of on-line SharePoint (2007/O365).  In order to quickly drag and drop folders we need to often open the document libraries by using the 'open in windows explorer view'.

Using the same device, on occassion this works.  But often it gives a rather unhelpful message 'Your client does not support opening this list in Windows Explorer'.

I've searched for this issue over the net and confirm that the sites are added to the 'trusted' sites area and that the 'remember you credientials' is checked on logging in.However, the searches do not seem to apply to IE11/Win8.1 or on-line version of sharepoint (the suggested hot fix is not suitable)

Only this morning, using the same device I was able, for a short while to open in explorer view, and then for no apparent reason, it began to display the error message.  I had changed nothing regarding settings or even closed the browser.

Do you have any support/ideas/fixes on how to resolve this.

Many thanks

IE can't display Google Chrome's landing page correctly in RTL languages (Hebrew, Arabic, Persian)

Hi,

I’ve been trying to download Google Chrome from the official Hebrew version website (https://www.google.co.il/chrome/)
Using IE11 on Windows 7 SP1 from different computer setups, but every time the blue download box-link simply didn’t show up. I’ve checked this with browserstack.com and found out it’s not a local issue, and also occurs on other RTL languages such as Arabic and Persian:

Outlook.Com + IE8

Ever since I updated my IE browser to the latest version (8.0.6001, I'm working under Windows XP) I can not access my Outlook.Com account through IE.

Through Chrome it works fine.

When I try to access it through IE it sounds several ticks (sounds like redirection or reloading) and then a message appears (Something has gone wrong. Cannot log you on. Try later).

I tried the conventional things (deleting browser history and cookies) but to no avail.

Any idea how to fix the problem

IE 11 opens blank tab

IE 11 opens a blank new tab on a windows 7 64 bit computer. I have had this problem before. After much research the only thing I found to work was uninstalling 11 and reinstalling 10.  I cannot remember how I did that.  All I remember is it was a lot of work.  After a few months IE automatically updated back to 11 and the problem came back.  Is there an easier, more permanent solution?  When I click on a link that should open a new tab the address in the new tab appears to be the same as the old tab but the screen is blank.

Hi,

I have a telerik rad popup window performing some input operation. The problem is when I use the configuration in IE as Document mode: 10 and User agent String: Internet Explorer 8, scroll bars appear in the window from nowhere. It is working fine with every other configuration of IE. I've also used a separate stylesheet for IE 8 but it won't apply in this case.

Here are the screen shots of the window.

Please if anybody could suggest a solution for this weird problem it would be a great help.

Thanks in advance.

Internet Explorer display blank page

0
0

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.
