IEAK11 msi not doing anything

$

0

I created a IEAK11 deployment package with all our corporate settings. It creates an exe and an msi.

Exe works fine, msi does nothing. It runs, it completes (according to verbose log), but it doesn't modify the system in any way. After restart IE11 is not installed. Running it again just does the same thing.

I recreated the package so it showed all the dialog boxes and as far as I can tell it comes up with IE installation dialog box, but it disappears and nothing else happens. msiexec keeps running for another 5 mins or so, but nothing else happens.

I am at a loss. Me and my colleague recreated the package about 5 times so far, from scratch, and the issue is still the same.

EXE works. MSI does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.

I called MS today not sure i had the right department, but the gentleman didn't know what I was referencing does anyone know of a site to get up to date information of this issue and when MS plans on releasing a patch?

Also were advising everyone to disable the Adobe flash in internet explorer Add-on's, anything else that we can do to remedy this is greatly valued.

Thank you,

IE blocks local content

For no apparent reason (I'm open to suggestions, why) the IE development team decided that opening local content in IE (11 and others) is DANGEROUS and therefor blocked.

In order to allow your favourite web browser (IE)  to access content on localhost follow these simple and harmless steps.

And IE is behaving normal again.

IE10 wont allow me to open FTP files in Explorer View

I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!
This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)
Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working. You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..
Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!

Certificate Errors on Internal URLs.

$

Hi

Over the past 2 weeks I have no longer been able to access internal WiFi servers via IE11 (or Firefox, or Opera, or Chrome).  The WiFi services are running on a Windows PC on the domain. We have 2008 Svr, Windows 7 Pro clients, IE 11.  This is happening on all the sites I visit, which are unconnected / unrelated school domains. In each school I now get "Certificate Error" and a "recommendation" not to continue.  This needs to be amended by Microsoft. It's not a recommendation. There is no option to proceed as formerly to a trusted site (yes, I already tried making them 'Trusted' in IE options).  The message should read: "Microsoft denies you any access to your URL". Yes, it's incredibly frustrating.

My Googling so far indicates a huge number of people with this error, and I have possibly narrowed it down to the increased security to 1024-bit encryption - as opposed to the former 512.

I tried an elevated command prompt: certutil -setreg chain\- it doesn't work.

My only doubt about this being the cause is that it's been around for a couple of years.

I'm open to suggestions as this is a monumental issue. However, I'm so busy I rarely get opportunity to respond.

How to open text URL in the new tab

$

Hi guys,

We know that when we click on a hyperlink it will directly open the linked web site, e.g.www.bing.com

But sometimes we may find some URL in plain text that we couldn't click on it, e.g. www.bing.com

I'll have to select the URL and copy&paste it to a new tab to open it, this is time wasting.

The time IE 9 came out, I found a wonderful add-on, Open URL in New Tab (with Preview)

This will do the trick to open the text URL in the new tab by right click on it.

http://www.iegallery.com/us/addons/detail.aspx?id=3614

But I don't like two things of it.

1st, it will try to preview the web site when I using it which is undesired.

2nd, it will open the link through another site and then jump back to the link I need to open. But I'd like to open the link directly. Which will open the link more quickly also save my time.

Questions:

Is there any other way to open the plain text URL directly? I mean without copy and past it to another page.

It would be great if I can open the URL by dragging it like the other...

How do you disable Enhanced Protected Mode in the Metro/Modern version of IE11?

$

Hi All,

We need to try and disable Enhanced Protected Mode in the Metro/Modern version of IE11 as it's causing SSO problems with our proxy server (prompting for credentials).

I have already disabled EPM on the desktop version and SSO is now working, but only for the desktop IE.

It looks like turning of Protected Mode (for the Internet zone) resolves the issue on both the Metro and desktop IE versions but we'd obviously rather not do that!

any ideas?

Cheers,

Can't download files from the Internet

I am running Winsows 7 Pro, Internet Explorer 11 on a new Dell desktop. Whenever I try to download a file from the Internet, a MSN File Download window opens up that says "Getting File Information". Then after a few seconds, a new window opens that says "We were unable to locate the file to download". What settings do I need to change to correct this?

How to Silently Unregister DLLs Related To Security Advisory 2963983 0-Day Exploit?

$

Microsoft gave these labor-intensive instructions:

Unregister VGX.DLL

For 32-bit Windows systems

Important: For this workaround to take effect, you MUST run it from an elevated command prompt.

  1. From an elevated command prompt enter the following command:
    "%SystemRoot%\System32\regsvr32.exe" -u "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\VGX\vgx.dll"

A dialog box should appear after the command is run to confirm that the un-registration process has succeeded. Click OK to close the dialog box.

  2. Close and reopen Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

For 64-bit Windows systems

Note The following commands must be entered from an elevated command prompt.

  1. From an elevated command prompt enter the following commands:
    "%SystemRoot%\System32\regsvr32.exe" -u "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\VGX\vgx.dll""%SystemRoot%\System32\regsvr32.exe" -u "%CommonProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Shared\VGX\vgx.dll"

A dialog box should appear after each command is run to confirm that the un-registration process has succeeded. Click OK to close the dialog box.

  2. Close and reopen Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect

However, we need to automate this because we cannot ask users to do this, nor can we go from PC to PC running these commands manually.  According to their instructions, you must click through confirmation prompts to complete it.

How can we run this command silently so that it requires no user interaction (clicking OK on dialog boxes, etc.)?

We would like to add it to a computer startup script so that users do not need to do anything.

Setting Security in Internet Zone to High affects Trusted Sites

$

In response to the recent Security Advisory, we recommended our users set the Internet Zone security to High.

However, this is causing our local Intranet site which is in every users Trusted Sites Zone (set at Medium-Low) to not function.

I was under the impression that Trusted Sites are treated different than Internet Sites.

What security settings do they share that would be affected by setting the Internet Zone to High?

Thank you.

How to disable the prompt for password when receiving a call on Lync mobile on iPhone

We are doing a pilot on Lync 2013.  We have mobile phones: i Phones.

When we are receiving a call, we are prompted to enter password to take the call, which in certain cases, might be a real irritant.  Is there a way to bypass, or simply removing this prompt?

Cpu 100% with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome...

Hello to all,

I state that seems to be a very popular post on the internet but in reality, the solution does not seem to want to go out to the surface ..

With any browser, updated to the latest version and adobe flash player version 12, which is 13, while watching a simple video on youtube, both the process and ie.exe flash player, or firefox.exe or chrome.exe summed to arrive 100% CPU load ... and of course brings me to have frequent stretches the video and audio ..

I try to start by saying a few points:

- Do not talk about malware, spyware or viruses or plugins installed on your browser, because it is freshly formatted Win7 and XP, nothing changes.

- Disabling hardware acceleration, the result does not change.

It 'a Celeron D 220 to 1.20GHz, the fact remains that I could watch a video on youtube that runs quietly with no problem ... also having a buffer already loaded.

Have any of you had any experience on this?

Internet Explorer 11 & Windows 8.1 x64 strange behaviour

$

Hi all

I work in IT Department in an organization, we were running Windows XP and recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 x64

Some of our users randomly face an issue with IE11.

Whilst using IE11 the tabs would suddenly start flashing, out of place and ie becomes unresponsive (screenshots below). This issue occurs to different users, completely random. We suspected add-ons, graphics drivers and protected mode...nothing seems to be stopping the issue. The only way to end IE is through task bar, end task.

any suggestions?
