INTERNET EXPLORER not responding

THANKS  EXISTING SOLUTIONS GOT BACK MY IE

I can't install IE 10 on my System 7 x32 with Service Pack 1 installed

I had IE 10 installed on my PC.  I checked All Programs and it is no longer there.  I had a problem with SweetPacks and I believe in the process of removing it from my system, IE got removed.

When I attempt to reinstall IE 10, I get a message that says; "Internet Explorer did not finish installing; setup can't continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer".

The file I was attempting to install is IE10-Windows6.1-en-us.exe

I also checked "uninstall files" and IE is not listed.  Nor is it in my Recycle Bin.

Unable to Revert to IE 8 from 9

To whomever it may concern,

I recently tried updating to IE 9 from IE 8 and didn't like it. I've done this before and was able to revert without issue, but this time I can't. I've done everything from numerous system restores that all fail with an "Unspecified error. 0x8007****" and even uninstalling the IE 9 update fails due to "an error [having] occurred. The update was not successfully removed." I also tried downloading and running Microsoft FixIt 50778 and it runs fine and everything, but doesn't fix the issue despite saying that it was successful. A scheduled Check Disk at bootup revealed a few unfixable errors, and a "sfc /scannow" in command prompt came back with a CBS.log error log file almost 100 mb in size. Everything was fine before I installed the IE 9 update. Now all my system restores including one that I made manually before the update are gone, and I can't get IE to work at all. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a Dell Latitude E6410. I've tried everything that has been suggested on this and other sites but to no avail. Please get back to me at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

Group edits on IE 8

Earlier this month I was given an answer about changes that MSN made in managing Contact groups. It appears as though that information has been changed again.

When I try to delete someone from an already exisiting group, the instructions say to "click on the group name, then click on Edit" to perform that deletion or change. However, the "Edit" function button doesn't appear on the tool bar...nor anywhere else that I can see. I can "Add" or "Delete" but not "Edit".

If I try to do the "Edit" from the specific contact's listing, I can only delete them from my entire list, not just from a group.

Can MSN or anyone else, please direct me to complete instructions for ALL of the new "Contacts" functions so I don't have to ask questions one-by-one? Thanks in advance for help

IE 10 times out after about 10 seconds and displays a "This page cannot be displayed" message

Every since I installed Windows 8 and IE 10 in December of 2012, I have noticed that IE seems to time out fairly quickly and returns a  "This page cannot be displayed" message.  This appears to happen after about 10 seconds if a website does not render in that amount of time.

We have a website with a considerable amount of content and during busy periods it is not uncommon for a page to require a little more time to render. When I go to pages in FireFox or Chrome, the loading indicator keeps spinning indicating that the page is still downloading and often times the download completes as desired.

However, in IE 10 when the "This page cannot be displayed" message appears so soon, it gives customers the impression that our website is down or not functional.

I would prefer that IE 10 show a progress indicator for more than 10 seconds before deciding that the page is not available and if the download time is longer then let the customer decide when they want to abort the download.  I think that as long as the progress indicator is running, most people are willing to wait a little longer than 10 seconds for a page to render.

Having IE 10 make the decision that 10 seconds is too long is very frustrating because it leads to customers getting the impression that our website is not working when in fact it is.

We are not able to control customers choice of browsers and IE is still the leading browser people use when visiting our website.  However, IE 9 under Windows 7 is still the primary browser accessing our website and IE 9 does not appear to have this"cut off" feature set to 10 seconds.

IE 10 will not install IE 9 still there and doesn't open certain pages

I have Windows 7 64bit with IE 9 pre-installed from Dell.

#1) IE 10 won't install.

#2) Certain pages in IE 9 do not display at all, but view fine in Opera, Firefox and Chrome. Unfortunately I need to use IE to access the pages that don't display because the insurance carrier quoting system ONLY works for IE - yes, it's true - that's how they built there system! The reason I can see the page in the other browsers is because I have muddled my way through the garbled front end of the websites to get to the back-end which views it properly.. But I don't want to do this 15 times a day.

I have tried to install IE 10 but it will not install. I have gone into windows features and turned off IE 9, and tried to install IE 10. I have deleted IE 9 and tried to install IE 10. I have reset explorer and all it's setting to default and tried to install IE 10. I have updated everything that Microsoft has pushed my way and checked for new updates.

I have tried all the Microsoft fix-it tools.

The pages not displaying has been going on for 2 years and I have worked at this for hours and hours. Obviously IE 10 not installing has only been an issue for a few months (I was hoping IE 10 would update everything and start fresh)

What else might I be able to say for any advice?... I have disabled my anti-virus and firewall as well.

Any ideas!?

Thanks in advance.

HTML ALT Feature No Longer Works

"Mouse over" an image containing an ALT tag used to display the text in the ALT tag. It no longer does. Why not? How do we get that bug fixed? Otherwise, there is no point in having the ALT tag.

How do I stop IE 9 from blocking websites from displaying content with security certificate errors?

How do I stop IE 9 from blocking websites from displaying content with security certificate errors? Every site that I visit, I get this message, and I keep clicking and clicking and most of the times, the photographs go blank.

THen when I try to sign into my facebook page, I get Access denied, you do not have permission to access.

THis has absolutely got to be the very worst Internet Explorer version that I have ever used in over  20 years of use. I am very VERY close to not using IE atoll and use Firefox, or Chrome or even Safari.

When I click on a Link I get a Blank Tab and a Blank Page

I run Win 7 Home Premium and IE9 on an HP Pavillion HPE computer. I use AVG 2012.  My problem is when I click on a LINK I get a Blank new Tab and a Blank Page.  As a side note, when clicking on the above Microsoft's "Related Topics" Links, I get nothing but a new Blank Tab and Blank Page.  Sometimes I get the error message :  " Sorry Internet Explorer needs to Close" .  I've done most of the "fixes" discussed in these on-line MS Answer sessions including resetting my IE9 settings, scanning for Malware, etc. and finally a System Restore but my problem persists. I'm hoping that someone can help me out of this very frustrating (and infuriating) mess.

IE is completely DoS'd by a page full of HTTP Basic Auth images.

[I posted this on answers.microsoft.com first, but was told to post over here, so I am.]
[I ran into this with the Mail app, where the problem is made even worse, but it looks like it's an IE issue at heart.]

Repro: (you'll have to kill IE after this, so save important tabs first). Go to https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6867891/misc/ie-basic-auth-dos.html

Result: You are inundated with an "endless" (50 in this case) supply of modal dialogs asking you for credentials.  Regardless of whether you enter the correct credentials (netsession/password) or hit enter, the modal dialogs just keep on coming.

Suggested fix:  Chrome and Firefox only prompt me once.  If I enter credentials or hit cancel, they use that for all subsequent requests to that HTTP Basic Auth realm.

In addition, it would be nice if the dialog wasn't modal, so it can't block the whole app.

Background: Every day I receive a stats email that includes around 100 tiny sparkline-style graphs.  These graph images are served off of our stats server, which authenticates users via HTTP Basic Authentication (meaning that in order to get the image, the client has to send a username/password in the HTTP headers).  When I view this email (in IE or the Windows Mail app), it brings up a modal dialog to prompt me for the username and password for every single image in the email (all 100).  There's no way to cancel or abort.

In the Mail app this is made even worse because it apparently tries to pre-load emails in the background, so I get stuck in this "endless" modal dialog cycle without even clicking on the email in question.  So my entire Mail app is currently unusable.

Disable IE Addons Programatically (not manually using Tools, Manage Addons, etc...)

Does anyone know of a way to programatically (i.e. using a tool, scripting, etc...) to disable IE addons in Windows Explorer 8) ? Our company is having to install software that does not give us optino of notinstalling certain addons. These addons cause issues and we would like to come up with an automated way of disabling them. If this functionality does not exist, in my opinion, it should (even if if requires putting the Addon in some sort of "approved" list to be enabled/disabled programmatically. Thank you for your time.

New IE11 not working correct! Nothing happens!!

My Own Cloud (WebDav/HttpFolder) isn't working anymore in IE11 on Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview and Windows 8.1 Preview

IE9 EV Greenbar bug

It would appear that the current version of IE9 on both 32 & 64 bit Vista & Win 7 systems has a bug with the green bar EV ssl.  It can be reproduced on any IE9 by opening IE9 cleanly, then typing/pasting the full address of a secure page.  The bar will not turn green until refreshed (or unless it is linked from another page).  Here is an example (must copy and paste):

https://www.gotomypc.com/en_US/members/login.tmpl?Action=rgoto&_sf=4

I have tested this with multiple green bar EV certificate vendors and multiple sites.  The problem does not occur with Firefox or IE8.  If the site is linked to from another page, for example in the link above fromhttp://www.gotomypc.com and click on login, the green bar occurs properly.  Once the green bar is on for a site, the problem will not recur without closing IE and restarting it.

IE displays junk when clicking on WebEx .WRF videos

If we upload a .WRF WebEx video then view it in Internet Explorer, it doesn't download and open the appropriate WebEx video player, it only displays a bunch of junk of the screen.  Chrome works ok, it will download then you click it to open, but IE just automatically fills the screen with junk.  I have confirmed that IIS has a global mime type for .WRF files of application/octet-stream.  I also confirmed that on the local PC that .WRF files are associated with the WebEx player.  I don't know what else to look at.  Any ideas?

Rss feeds automatically assigned to Restricted sites zone ?

0

Hello,

I would like to know which mechanism in Internet Explorer 9 is responsible for assigning Xml sites with RSS feeds into restricted sites zone.

For example, if I open any RSS feeds and then i check file - properties, I see in the zone property : Restricted sites | Protected mode : on.

Moreover if in the Security options for internet zone I change this parameter : Web sites in less privileged Web content zones can navigate into this zone : disable (like in the High security template of IE for internet zone), I am not able anymore to open any html hyperlinks that are on the page (xml page : restricted sites zone -> html page : internet zone).

So I have some questions :

1 Does IE9 automatically assign RSS feeds (Xml page) to Restricted sites zone and how does it do that ?

2 Is it possible to change the behavior of Internet Explorer in order that Rss feeds should be assign to internet zone instead of restricted sites zone

3 Is there any possibility to open html hyperlinks placed on Xml page with Rss feeds when 'Web sites in less privileged Web content zones can navigate into this zone' is disable in the security options for internet zones ?

Thank you in advance for any answer or advice !!

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

IE9 Compatibility View List - Actual Location of sites enterened

In Internet Explorer 9 if I go to Compatibility View List and enter in a site... say nothere.com  Where on the computer is that information stored?  Somewhere in the registry or a file in the users application data folder?  Some sort of encrypted database perhaps?  I have tried searching the registry and have found nothing... also tried windows search to search contents of files....  Does anybody know where that data is stored?  Thank you...  My intentions is to simply utilize our existing logon scripts to insert sites in or out of there for different users... not on a per machine basis or having the same sites for all users...

Internet Options greyed out

0

I have two options in IE9 Internet Options which are greyed out and I cannot find the GPO or registry settings to activate them so I can modify them using the GUI:

[ ] Delete browser history on exit
[ ] History (in Delete Browsing History)

I CAN find the GPO/registry settings to modify these settings (including enabling the Delete button which brings up Delete Browing History).  There are MANY MANY examples on the internet of how to disable deleting browser history but that is not my issue.  These are greyed out.  I have the following disabled in User Config\Policies\Windows Components\Internet Explorer:

Configure Delete Browsing History on Exit
Disable "Configuration History"
Prevent Deleting Web sites that the User has Visited
Turn off "Delete Browsing History" functionality

My environment is:
DCs= Win2008
Domain functional level: Windows Server2003
Machine : Win7

I downloaded the Group Policy settings cross reference from Microsoft.  It has an IE policy "Disable changing history settings" but I do not see that in GPO editor.

I've tried running IE without add-ins but still greyed out.

IE9, Win7: How to get rid of "What do you want to do with ...doc? Open, Save, Save as

0
0
My web application downloads a .doc file.  With IE9 and Windows 7 it displays the dialog "What do you want to do with xxxx.doc? Open, Save, Save as"  Prior to IE9 I could check the box that said "remember" but with IE9 I do not see a way to prevent the dialog from occurring every time.  How can I turn off this dialog like I can in all prior versions of IE?  I have looked through the forums and the answer might be here but most threads seem to be a little different problem.  Some of my customers are switching to FireFox and Chrome because of this problem so I would like to find a solution.  I found another thread that had a potential solution (1. Click Tools - Internet Options - Security Tab. 2. Click Local intranet, click Sites, uncheck"Automatically detect intranet network" if you checked it. Then check "Include all network paths (UNCs)".  Click Advanced, add the intranet to the zone. Then Close and OK.) but that did not solve my problem.
